This thread looks like the beginning of a bad joke! So three Asian guys wearing cowboy hats walk into a bar: a Vietnamese guy, a Filipino guy, and a Korean guy….. 😂
I started wearing a cowboy hat about a month ago and love them. A guy in a store made a comment about how dumb it was. I turned to him and said, “I’m 50 and too old to give a shit about what you think. And besides, how is this effecting your life in anyway? Has it shaved off your life expectancy? I didn’t think so.” He simply stared at me and then looked away. LOL!
I was told by an older lady that I am supposed to earn the right to wear a cowboy hat (by working on a ranch or farm, riding horses and bulls). I told her that I believe the hat manufacturer would disagree because they want to sell lots of hats.
In my family we've been wearing cowboy hats for generations and I do own horses and work in farming. I'm gonna tell you that a hat serves a few purposes, block sun, cover you from the elements and is stylish. Wear what you want, no need to "earn" anything. 👌
Yeah man good for you, who gives a damn what people say ha ha ha. In Mexico not everyone wears one, but because there is a son that is hitting left and right every second it is literally casual wear down there. You don’t have to own a cow to wear one. Blessings.
Definitely. Don’t worry about what others think. I have been wearing hats, jeans, boots, belts and buckles for years when no one around me were wearing any type of western wear.
@Chris Penfield Exactly!! More people just need to go for it and don’t over think it. They may not feel as uncomfortable as they think. Once you own it and get passed thinking you can’t wear a hat you may find out you get compliments.
I just started wearing one. I was 10 times as confident the second I put it on. Just driving around and walking around in public places made me feel like an absolute BOSS.
I've worn boots since college. Hardy ever wear shoes. I've just recently started wearing cowboy hats, which I have always loved. I'm 48, figured to hell with it. I'm gettin too old to worry about what people are going to think. I've received more compliments than I ever thought I would. Even been asked where I've bought it. Just wear it!
If you just start wearing it out of the blue, you’ll definitely get some questions and weird looks from people. But if you wear it consistently, people will get used to seeing you in it. Also, if wearing a hat makes you feel good, that will raise your confidence level, making you more attractive.
I'm a Southern boy that's been living in the UK for almost 2 years now. I never stopped wearing my boots, blue jeans, belt buckle, and outback trading company hat.... People actually love it. They always ask me where I'm from and go on about how much they love America. Don't believe the Internet. Wear what you want to wear and do it with confidence. I've managed to dress like this whilst surrounded by people with blue and pink hair and it's worked out just fine.
Here in the UK, country music is my life, just recently started wearing hat and boots, Im always a little nervous when I first leave the house with my hat on but as yet not had many comments. Getting married next year and will be in suit hat and boots
I'm a guy,in New York, I wear a 5in brim, wide and low cowboy hat (also Native American)who cares what others think, wearing a cowboy hat is a symbol of America....besides a lot of girls always give me looks, wear your hat and walk tall
I live in a midwest city but I like to rock a cowboy hat periodically and I wear it with sportswear and jordans and so many people love it. They are very practical to wear on those humid summer days when the sun is beating down. The first time I wore a cowboy hat was during a walk around my neighborhood on a 96 degree day
I've been wearing cowboy boots for roughly 15 years. I never considered what people would think mainly because I figured, who cares to look at someone else's feet. Turns out lots of people do, lol. I've gotten plenty of compliments or questions, but never anything negative. I've been wearing cowboy hats for roughly 10 years, but not in public. It isn't due to my concern for what others think, but I know it would draw a lot of attention in the greater Cleveland area, and I do not like attention. I wear my hat working in the yard and on the porch.
I was introduced wearing cowgirl hats and boots and I'm not a cowgirl I'm just a random chick lol. I just ordered a cowgirl hat. If someone looks at me I'll just say hi. I can't wait to get my hat in the mail. Yes I may look different but I'm happy with what I got hey you never know I may get asked to go to a western dance or a rodeo. You don't see to many black cowgirls but I'm proud of my race. I'm not trying to be like other people that rode horses all their life I just trying to be me.😁 never say you cant do nothing have confidence there are many haters. Hey maybe I might meet cowgirl and cowboys to hang out with.
Man you guys are such a BIG HELP!!👍🏾👍🏾because I love cowboy hats and people here in Lexington ky I never see wear but some white folks and some Mexicans but never do I see Black men wear them here 🤷🏾♂️But my wife brought me a really nice straw cowboy hat and I'm going to wear it!!🤠 So THANKYOU GUYS👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
EXACTLY!! I bought my first cowboy hat in Gatlinburg recently for a wedding. My buddies ALL gave me shit for it. I talked them into trying one on and they all immediately fell in love and found the style they like. Wouldn't ya know it we ended up wearing them to his wedding.
I'm always looking for a reason to wear boots, I got 10 pairs and my biggest prob is witch ones to wear, and cowboy hat same thing, folks will always look, be confident we all look good in em
im 27 and in the UK. still too nervous to wear mine out in public since I am a nervous person anyways. But I love my hat. I love the western america era fashion and love cowboy movies like clint eastwood and john wayne etc. its a style I really wish would come back and more people wear because its honestly smart and practical.
Texas.. the boots, hats all that are right in mostly because you can fry your head out in the Pecos pretty quick in summer.. and that isn't funny. But in Michigan not so much, they get mixed reviews here. My son will wear his cowboy hat and Ariats ..sometimes people will ask why are you wearing a cowboy hat? He response is : "I ride bulls for fun and I just forgot to take it off".. their faces are priceless during that exchange. I love wearing my Resistol, but usually get it caught in my work.. so I have to switch to baseball caps until work is over.
I wear mine doing yard work and going up to the Rocky Mountains here in Colorado, we live in Denver but I’m a Texas native… grew up with boots-jeans-cowboy hats just like my dad! Keeps the sun off your neck up here 6,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level!
True, you just need to do it. I wished I had started wearing one earlier. I have started wearing all kinds of hats, but my favorite are my open road hats.
Great video! I live in Southern Cal. Not in an area where Cowboy boots and hats are the norm. You don't have to ride rodeo or be a cowboy to wear them because 90 percent of the people that have them wouldn't qualify. I couldn't care less what people think, and I have actually had compliments more than I can count. People actually like the look. I wear Stetson Cowboy hats and the Stetson Open Road. Wrangler jeans and Tecovas or Ariat boots. I had several people ask me where to get the boots and hats as well. You definitely have to wear it with confidence and give zero fks what people think. Western wear is all I wear ad although I used to ride horses when I was younger I don't now but still wear the clothing because it looks great and its comfortable. I once wore a suit to a family wedding with dress boots and hats and I can tell you that even my teenage nephews and nieces loved the look. You would be surprised how many people would love to wear western clothes but don't think they can pull it off, or are too concerned with what people think. Just go for it and own it.
Just got my first hat this past weekend and it's been odd with the looks and etc. But I just tip it to whoever and rock it my way. Loving it so far, especially in this South FL heat.
I love wearing all my western attire I grew up on my brother's farm as a kid lived in Wyoming and Texas for work and I loved the western look. It's doesent matter what anyone else says about what you wear as long as it makes you happy then it doesent matter.

I manage a lumberyard-lots of sun, heat, dust and a rough crew of guys-I got a cowboy hat for the utility aspect. Immediately I noticed less bitching and bull💩from the guys. The hat gives you a larger, more authoritative silhouette.
I wear my boots almost everywhere I go but I’ve always just been self conscious about my hat. I was born in Oklahoma but live on the east coast and it’s just not really a common sight here

Out west I don't feel odd at all about wearing a western hat because it's common enough that nobody bats an eye, but back east and in big cities you definitely get a lot of strange looks and snide comments wearing one which is why I think a lot of people don't feel comfortable doing it.
Nothing, an I mean NOTHING, says ‘America’ like a cowboy hat! You just need to ignore what others think and walk around with the hat on like you own the place or don’t give a shit who does!!!
Yep. My family growing up owned horses, longhorns, goats and sheep. However I don't own any now, but where I live it's perfectly acceptable for anyone to wear a hat
I should have got into cowboy hats a long time ago, considering I'm a born and raised Kansan. Just wore ballcaps all the time, but as of the last 2-3 years been wearing cowboy hats 24/7 and it was a great decision.
How many cowboy hats do you have? I only have 1 cowboy hat, but I would like to use them for the rest of my life, how many do you recommend I have? (I am using Google translator from Spanish to English, sorry if some things are not understood)
@@james-gq5fw I would recommend two at first, a straw one for spring and summer time, and a felt one for fall and winter time. The color is completely up to you, but neutral tones are usually best, brown and tan. I prefer black but I mostly wear black all the time anyway. After the first two, it's up to you, some people prefer to get a white/silverbelly color for more formal occasions, or they get a black one if they first felt they got was brown. I wouldn't recommend spending a ton of money on the first few hats unless you know you'll like wearing them forever. There are some pretty inexpensive options out there that look great from places like Resistol, Stetson, etc.
It’s all about confidence. Im an Asian dude from socal and I get so many compliments when I wear a cowboy hat. Just own it.

Bro I'm Asian too (Filipino) I wear mine all the time lol but living in Bakersfield, it's fairly common for people out here to wear em
