I was told by an older lady that I am supposed to earn the right to wear a cowboy hat (by working on a ranch or farm, riding horses and bulls). I told her that I believe the hat manufacturer would disagree because they want to sell lots of hats.
Definitely. Don’t worry about what others think. I have been wearing hats, jeans, boots, belts and buckles for years when no one around me were wearing any type of western wear.
I just started wearing one. I was 10 times as confident the second I put it on. Just driving around and walking around in public places made me feel like an absolute BOSS.
I've worn boots since college. Hardy ever wear shoes. I've just recently started wearing cowboy hats, which I have always loved. I'm 48, figured to hell with it. I'm gettin too old to worry about what people are going to think. I've received more compliments than I ever thought I would. Even been asked where I've bought it. Just wear it!
I started wearing a cowboy hat about a month ago and love them. A guy in a store made a comment about how dumb it was. I turned to him and said, “I’m 50 and too old to give a shit about what you think. And besides, how is this effecting your life in anyway? Has it shaved off your life expectancy? I didn’t think so.” He simply stared at me and then looked away. LOL!
and the end of the day, the hat was made as a tool. It's a accessory first and foremost, and no one should ever tell you you can't wear one.
I'm a Southern boy that's been living in the UK for almost 2 years now. I never stopped wearing my boots, blue jeans, belt buckle, and outback trading company hat.... People actually love it. They always ask me where I'm from and go on about how much they love America. Don't believe the Internet. Wear what you want to wear and do it with confidence. I've managed to dress like this whilst surrounded by people with blue and pink hair and it's worked out just fine.
I grew up in Tennessee not many people wear cowboy hats. I’m 64 and finally I don’t care what anyone says. I love my hats
I had women and men open doors for me when i wear my cowboy hat and boots!!!! I love it!! Im already confident and these just reflect who i am!!
If you just start wearing it out of the blue, you’ll definitely get some questions and weird looks from people. But if you wear it consistently, people will get used to seeing you in it.

Wait until you guys are my age in your 50’s... you won’t care what anyone thinks! You will have a cowboy hat, cowboy boots and smoking a cigar!

I was introduced wearing cowgirl hats and boots and I'm not a cowgirl I'm just a random chick lol. I just ordered a cowgirl hat. If someone looks at me I'll just say hi. I can't wait to get my hat in the mail. Yes I may look different but I'm happy with what I got hey you never know I may get asked to go to a western dance or a rodeo. You don't see to many black cowgirls but I'm proud of my race. I'm not trying to be like other people that rode horses all their life I just trying to be me.😁 never say you cant do nothing have confidence there are many haters. I'm a guy,in New York, I wear a 5in brim, wide and low cowboy hat (also Native American)who cares what others think, wearing a cowboy hat is a symbol of America....besides a lot of girls always give me looks,wear your hat and walk tall
Here in the UK, country music is my life, just recently started wearing hat and boots, Im always a little nervous when I first leave the house with my hat on but as yet not had many comments.
