My grandma taught me to crochet scarves and things, but not hats. I've watched lots of hat videos, but this is the only one I watched all the way through because it's the one I've understood best. I'm making hats and scarves to give to homeless in winter. I'm also donating to animals because they're my favorite. Thank you!

I want to thank you for this tutorial. I have tried so many tutorials and just could not get it. But I watched yours last night and wrote it all down. I got up today and made a real hat. I was so excited. And proud of myself. So many, many thanks. I make scarves and shawls for a local homeless center locally in Memphis. Thanks so much Kelly. And now I will be adding hats. Can not thank you enough. ❤️✝️🙏🥰

I thought that you did an excellent job instructing how to crochet a hat. If I didn't already know how to crochet, I would have been able to follow your directions easily. You had nothing to fear. You did great!

Thank you for teaching me this hat. I have never made one before , for the past month I have really wanted to make one but didn't think I could so I thank you again for teaching me. Now on the side note, I grew up in Monrovia about three miles from the City of Hope. Maybe four miles. I lived in Monrovia for 40 years. City of Hope is wonderful and I am sure they are blessed by you donating these hats. You have inspired me to make hats and donate to the Primary Children's Hospital and the Huntsman cancer Center here in Salt Lake City Utah. Thank you for inspiring me

I've been crocheting since I was a teen. I just turned 51. And I don't hold the yarn the proper way because I learned by watching my mother who happened to be left handed and I'm right handed. But I still get it done. Recently I learned how to crochet a heart, butterfly and a little bunny out of yarn. I just finished a lap blanket for a friends son. Now I'm going to try flowers and these hats, and another lap blanket. Busy busy busy!!

Kelly you are AWESOME! You totally helped me. I believe the color of the yarn was very helpful as well. I could see exactly where you needed to put the hook. Especially helpful was in the intro the tips on holding the yarn and hook. I knew how to knit but I always loved the crochet stitches. You gave me a solid foundation to improve my skills and gain confidence. I love and appreciate your efforts with the City of Hope donations. Perhaps since I just ordered some red yarn and some white yarn with little sparkles I'll make some Santa hats for the little kiddies. Hope they turn out looking really cute. If I do well I'll send you some pictures and find out where I should send the beanies or if I should just drive them out to the City of Hope in Duarte. Have had many family members that were cared for by this awesome institution. Also I'm close to Loma Linda University Medical center and I'm guessing that they would love some little preemie beanies for their neonatal pediatric intensive Care unit.

Martine Bangs if you have a stand alone mirror you can face your phone or computer screen toward it and watch the tutorial in the mirror and you now have a left handed tutorial. It's a trick I learned from another UA-cam channel which I passed on to my mother because she's left-handed too and was having trouble with most right-handed tutorials. I hope this helps.😊

I tried holding the yarn as how you do, it's easier to pull the yarn from the skein, it does not hug tight on any finger. It's just more loose than I prefer. But I would like to still try this kind of yarn hold, my old hold hurts my finger sometimes and a bit hard to pull the yarn. Thank you for sharing! ☺💗
