How lucky for me to find your video! None of the pom-poms I have made by hand in the past looked like these. I am loving it! Perfect pom pom for my beanie, thanks, hun! Now let me share with you why you may have dull scissors. I sew as well as crochet. We seamstresses have a strict rule about our fabric cutting scissors; we never use them on paper or cardboard because paper will dull the edges. We keep an extra pair of scissors just for paper, but guard our fabric ones with our lives, lol! And too if you want to sharpen yours, there are inexpensive sharpeners [$10-20] that can be purchased at a Joanns Fabric/craft store or ? in your area. Hope this helps.

I used to make hundreds and hundreds of pom-poms for my grandma when I was about 10-16 years old. She used them for a number of things that she would make. My grandma has passed now, but I will never forget the easy way to make pom-pons. My grandpa would take a block of wood (extra pieces of 2x4's that he had leftover from other projects), maybe about 8-10" or so, sanded any tough edges, then took 2 nails and pounded them into the wood until about 3/4 of the way through. He used the nails that don't have a flat head on them (I'm sorry, I don't know what they're called). Anyways, he would space the 2 nails at different intervals apart, depending on the size of pom pom you want. Then, you start at the top, hold onto about 1.5" of yarn in your left hand, and start wrapping the yarn around the nails to the desired shape you want. You could wrap them in a figure 8 instead of just round and round, as well. Then, you cut off the same length of yarn that you started with (1.5"), wrap it around your pom pom in the middle and tie the 2 pieces together in a knot, nice and tight. Then, you just pop off the pom-pom from the nails and cut the edges/loops apart (that's why you don't use nails with the flat top on them). I know that sounds like a lot, but once you have the pieces of wood with the nails in them, you can whip off tons of pom-poms in any color and size that you want. The cardboard and toilet paper rolls work great, too - in case you can't make the pieces of wood. I just found it to have more steps than the wood chunks, and you didn't have to worry about the cardboard and tp rolls wearing out or bending. I hope this helps someone. Either way, pom-poms are so freaking adorable and you can use them in hundreds of ways. Thank you so much for the tutorial. 🙂💜

Absolutely AWESOME!! In addition to the toilet paper rolls being pure GENIUS, I especially love 2 other things: the cardboard templates for even trimming... and most of all, the double wrapping to keep the yarn TIGHTLY in place while making the double knot. BRILLIANT!!!! I just recently started working with yarn, to make various kinds of cat toys, and the knotting has been my biggest problem with the pompoms. I need them to be completely safe for our "babies" to play with so they don't pull the yarn pieces out while kicking and tugging at the pompoms. You just made my life a lot easier!!! LOL. Very nice! I like how you trimmed with the templates they come out nice and round and even! Just a hint for even more "fluffiness' I use a pet hairbrush..the kind with the wire bristles..to lightly brush the Pom Pom and they come out really fluffy.

Hi, I just found you & subscribed. That's the best homemade pom pom I've seen in a long time. I'm looking forward to learning from you & making lots of things that you teach on your videos. I had never heard of a pom pom rug, no we I want to make one. You don't seem nervous, but I am very nervous. If I can get really concentrated, sometimes I can distract myself out of laying my work down in frustration and sometimes my shaking will become less & I can make progress on my work. May God bless you & yours very abundantly. Take care & stay well. An old lady in Florida. Lol.

I just finished crocheting a hat and this video was very helpful on making a pom pom with things you have around your house. I used kitchen paper towel roll cut in have instead of toilet paper rolls cuz I didn't have any at the moment. Thank you for sharing and explaining it so thoroughly. 😍👍👍♥️🌷⚘

I started crocheting a bag at the beginning of this video and was finished before the video was over. Great video though, I make pin poke for my daughter, and I am a man. So I needed this video very badly.

I will get some plastic pipes with different diameters at the hardware store, cut them so I have two pieces of 5-6 inches in length, then get rubber bands to hold the matching pipes together at the ends (after I put the starting string between them) Voila, I can make Pom poms in any size I desire 😁

I think you did a wonderful job in explaining how to make a pom pom. Yes it seems like it takes a lot of yarn but I'm pretty darn sure it's worth it. Plus I would keep the stuffing and use it for either pillow or making some sort of bear crocheting.
As for scissors 36 years ago I bought these scissors that has a scissor sharpener, you put it in and out of the case as you do it you sharpen the scissors so yes my scissors are sharp at all times. I'm pretty sure they don't make them anymore or if they do they're very expensive because my was only ten bucks. Thank you once again for your tutorial, have a wonderful day sweetie.

Tip for trade.. Might i suggest as well.. I have learned the hard way that pom poms loose yarn as time goes by.. So... What i do is take a yarn needle n zig zag through back n forth until i feel it is secure enough.. No one will know and your project lasts longer..
I also keep the trimmings for stuffing in a plastic bag.. I just trim it straight into the bag.. Easy peasy clean up..
    **GREAT VIDEO** TY
