    I find it interesting that the Vanir main focus was research on how to fix their gene but they lack the advanced weapons as the Asgard. This means the Vanir's weapons and shield are a few thousand years behind the Asgard. This explains how the Travelers' weapons were able to overcome Vanir's shields and the Traveler's shield held against the Vanir's weapons.

      From what I understood, they are quite a little community that was exiled, contrary to the Asgard who kept being an entire society (even tho smaller than ours). I guess they couldn't achieve the same technological level with so few of them.
      Btw, I think the original Asgard would have been able to settle this ancient's technology by themselves. Several episodes with SG1 proved they were way more proficient than humans to understand ancient's technology.
      Yet, those Vanir keep a knowledge and a brain way larger than Earth so they would have been fierce ennemies! Such a pity...

    • @JackThor
      @JackThor Рік тому +9

      They fell behind becuase of the wraiths and who they are. The wraith drove them into survival mode, and had little resource they can put into tech advancement, and what little they do have they put into solving the genetic degredation issue making that the priority. The asgard on the other hand went the other direction they do have a lot of resource, which allowed them to prioritize defeating the replicator, and keeping the milkyway galaxy safe from the goauld naturally leading to more advance military tech, while the genetic degredtion was secondary.

    • @lexysraymont9627
      @lexysraymont9627 Рік тому +6

      @@JackThor I agree with your arguments yet not with all your conclusions. I think the genetic degeneration was as much important for the Asgard. Simply, their high standard moral made them less effective in that matter. Thor was certain the key wasn't within humans, and he was partly wrong. He believed so because the Asgard didn't go too far into experimentation while the Vanir did.
      I think the Vanir couldn't develop much because they were fewer, and yes most certainly because they were hiding from the Wraith. But their shortcomings were not only military : they didn't have their own ships, their own suits, and not even the asgard beam transporter. It looks like they faced an (almost) full stop in their scientific development save for genetics. They were just still way more evolved than Earth.
      But I guess we won't ever have our answers.

      This is normal. This is how ethnic divesity is born. For example here on Earth , the British and their main colonies (Australia and Canada). In the core , they are the same people. Those countries are made from the same people but they are fundamentaly differnt. The reason for it is that in the moment the colonists sever the connection with the homeworld , they start developing independatly. This is how differenaces in the same language and pronounsisation are born. The same goes with technology. The changes done in the home territories are just not imported to the colonies.
      According to what the Vanir told Daniel , they split from the Asgard 10 000 years ago and came to Pagasus during the war. They made colonies but ware under attack by the Wraith. They lost their most advanced ships and cities (meaning large portion of their population). The remnat went into survival mode to live on toxic world with very limited resources.
      This will put them ruffly on the same technological level as the Asgard arround 9000 years ago (i'm leaving some space for the tech adaptation that must of happaned during that period).

    • @TravelersProd
      @TravelersProd Рік тому

      @@creativenationpictures They almost always seem to end too soon don’t they? I find that the biggest tragedy about the MCU emulation is that it’s not the first time I’ve seen this pattern. After Harry Potter was a hit for example, various studios tried to emulate those movies success through various book adaptations en masse. The problem was that if the first movie didn’t reach that Harry Potter blockbuster status then the series would be dropped like a brick off a bridge, and more often then not it seemed like the folks making some of these movies hadn’t even read the books. There were a plethora of potential series that we could’ve seen more of if Hollywood wasn’t looking for a quick cash grab. Same thing with Game of Thrones. Various shows trying to emulate it without understanding the formula. You can’t just reach the same levels of success by killing random characters off and expect the same reaction, especially if it’s something like a big how do you do with a character being killed off and I’m just like, “You literally introduced this guy an episode and a half ago… What was his name again?” The point I was trying to make I agree, I do wish there were some more fresh ideas in the creative spectrum.

      No, they sacrificed themselves, which is a different thing altogether; suicide is simply death, sacrifice is to achieve a goal, often, though not always, a selfless one intended to benefit others.
      These Asgard intended to commit an act which would benefit themselves without any sacrifice on their part, but which would cause the deaths of millions of people. And, since they admitted they had not yet solved the issue with cloning, it seems likely that ultimately they would die out anyway, after having abandoned their principles.
      Lost everything, gained nothing, caused the deaths of millions of innocent people. Great.

When the Asgard planet exploded, the Asgard were no longer there but had used the spatial interference to beam themselves to another Galaxy. In all the knowledge they had given to the Humans, a clue was left but SG1 failed to find that clue. Years later, the Original SG1 team had visions from Thor that asked why SG1 had failed to rescue them from Stasis in the Far distant Galaxy which is the lead in to the New Stargate Series that see's the return of the fully cured Asgard and Earth Humans now the fifth Race.

I think Heimdall was also a prominent Asgard. These names meant nothing at the time.

If SGC discovered THE or AN genetic DNA and Memory data bank of all Asgard minds and memories (perhaps they all wirelessly updated with each new scan no matter where they were in the universe and perhaps some lay forgotten), they could help these remaining Asgard go the right way about fixing their gene pool and resurrecting their race without all the side effects of cloning. My idea for season 6.
    I would really enjoy a scenario where the Vanir get into a full scale fight with Atlantis and ultimately overplay their hand and underestimate Atlantis... in the climax episode, multiple Daedalus class ships show up at the last moment to save Atlantis by quickly making an example out of one of the Vanir ships (cause lets be real just ONE Daedalus class Destroyer could probably explode most of their fleet) and force them to surrender their fleet or be destroyed. This forces them into agreeing to a diplomatic position where they along with their fleet are supplied by Atlantis with the intergalactic drives that the Daedalus destroyers use (A deal too good to refuse), giving them the ability to return back to the milky way galaxy (The Vanir had all their intergalactic capable ships destroyed much earlier on by the Wraith). Once they return to the Milky Way, The "Tau'ri" scout out multiple suitable planets and present the options to the Vanir for settlement where they can rebuild their civilization under the protection of the Tau'ri with an eventual alliance forming. Because the Vanir are not necessarily "evil" or even "bad guys", they are simply desperate to save their race. And without the threat of attack or annihilation (And easy living on a warm, pleasant planet) they would most assuredly cease all hostilities and become good allies.
    The Tau'ri could then give them all the supply they need for research in terms of human stem cells and genetic data, hell even Terminally ill humans could willingly volunteer to allow experimentation on them and use of their physical bodies/organs after death, (not much different from current organ donation practices in modern western society). Also the Tau'ri, between any ancient labs they find on earth... and or the Atlantis database, they might be able to find some ancient genetic science that helps the Vanir with their issue or solves in entirely.
    And just like that, The Asgard return from "extinction" and can now spend the next couple hundred years rebuilding their civilization under the protection of Earth. Earth can even transport more technology and raw materials to the new Asgard home world than they themselves could possibly produce and give them a giant step forward in rebuilding. Within 40 years they would be a thriving, prosperous civilization and probably already settling colonies on a few other planets.

      Taur'i have Tech from the recently deceased modern Asgard that had a TEN THOUSAND YEAR tech development legacy over the vanir who have stagnated from simply trying to survive. It should theoretically take the Vanir another 10,000 years to just reach the level of advancement that the milky way Asgard reached, the Vanir showed similar levels of tech yet... almost inferior in some ways to the Travelers.
      And the most glaring issue here the fact that with Earth's help and their own milky way home world established they would have a MUCH harder up hill battle relative to the Asgard had 10000 years ago because the Asgard 10,000 years ago had a firmly established empire spanning two galaxies at least and the Vanir have ONE PLANET, they would spend the next 100 years simply trying to get their numbers up to sustainable levels and build something resembling a civilization (assuming they fixed all their issues and can reproduce properly).
      I mean, the only reason earth is able to take advantage of the new tech and galactic power they have established is because they have the highest population of any single world in the milky way and as such a massive industrial base and unmatched resource extraction ability to supply the industry.
      The Vanir would certainly thrive AND build a thriving civilization at a record setting pace but what you just said is very out to lunch XD

    I still think SGA should have explored the Asgard in this universe. It would’ve been cool as well if the Asgards discovered a secret storage device that contained all the minds of Asgard . So in case the Tau’ri ever discovered or solved the problem of degradation then the computer start immediately downloading the minds into new bodies.

    I can't bring myself to believe that they were evil. They were just desperate and more free from the good-guy dogma of SG-1. Sure, it was awesome to see that the race is not extinct, it was a bit jaw-opening that they shared more of Loki's mindset. But if a season 6 ever happened, I wouldn't want them to be antagonists. More like neutral race that became tentative allies, until, with the help of humans and their Asgard database, they managed to find a way to stabilize the racial genetics.
    I think the Asgard deserved as much. First having their race wiped out and then the rest of it being evil, ripe for destruction, that would be an even sadder end of the most awesome alien race ever.

      well they are one extreme the AS guard race was the other a hybrid of the two would have been better for them in the long run not wiping all humans out but also not ignoring human experimentation to save themselves by using human clones to experiment on

    I would have been like good point; I mean Thor and his people did help but in the end they all died. It's the simple equation of a man comes upon two trains which one does he talk. In this equation there are two men and two trains.

    thought the stargate team would have mention to the milky way asgards that there was a planet full of clones which they could have shared to them.sure they were enemies in the end.also be great been a great cross over of the sg1 and alantis series when the writers started thinking of a spin off series.
