    A laser bore sighter is like $7 on Amazon , I can do it in my home at 30 ft away without setting up a target etc outside , did this the other day and hit a 12 inch target at 100 yards the next day and made adjustments.
    But if u have a range already outside then u may as well do what he did! Plus it’s good information to know in a crisis situation or war situation … so thanks for the knowledge!

      Bought a laser bore sight for around the same cost. Didn’t shoot straight out the barrel and was clearly off center even from just 5-10feet. If you can look through the barrel I’d take that over a cheap laser bore sight. But like the comments said above different strokes for different folks 🤷‍♂️

    Bore sighting has the potential to be very precise, especially when done at a longer distance. At my 100 yd target butt, I have an old car tire hanging on a post. Center it perfectly in the bore and you will see 3 rings. Make sure they are all concentric. Determine which way you need to move the reticle. But here's the thing. You must turn the dials the opposite way you want the bullet to go. You eventually learn this pretty fast. Using at least 100 yds distance and a round target that fills the bore, many times my first shot is within an inch or two of dead center @ 100 yds. Then, precise zeroing is easy. Thanks for the vid!

    You can also boresight on a spot much closer. To boresight on a spot 5 yards away like you might find indoors, measure the height of the center of your scope over the center of your bore and sight the scope to a spot offset by that height.

  • @reb1050
    @reb1050 9 місяців тому +15

    The further away your bore sight target is, the more exact the process can be. But bore sighting can only be done with firearms where the bolt can be removed and you can see straight through the barrel. That lets lever actions, pumps actions, and standard hunting semi-autos out. Then it's laser or bore sighting tool that mounts on the end of the barrel time.

      Sighting a scope is truly an artform. Can be done many different ways and each way is different on terms of how you adjust. Its also amazing how it can be broken down scientifically or realistically and acheive the same results😅

    I was first trained on the 1960's m16 long Vietnam Era and with plain iron sites and that skill and ability to site and calibrate the irons has been invaluable. It's heavy, it's clunky and going from that to the m16 a2 & a4 to the m4 carbine was a pleasure compared to my first training. Funny story, I was IDF SF and used to lose my weekends all the time in the beginning and once spent the weekend taking the screws out of the Vietnam Era butt that they put in to stop ppl hiding stuff in the little compartment. My dumb ass thought I'd find Vietnam Era stash to make the weekend stop dragging. I lost the next 3 weekends when they noticed everyone who was pulling guard duty or on punishment on base had loose screws where it should have been sealed lol

    This is incredibly pointless.
    First off, "boresighting" only works if you can remove the action from your rifle AND look down the chamber and bore. Your bore has no parallax either, meaning the position of your eye can effect where your bore is pointing in negative relation to your optic.
    Finally, if you can afford a decent optic you can afford a fifty dollar laser bore sight. I've shot two, three round groups before to zero my optic using a laser bore sight in the past. This is some good ol' boi science, right here

      It’s free, and it works to get you on target. Not pointless.

    If you shoot with a scope you're cheating.
