    Hi guys, my train elevator was a bit inspired by the super cool Ship Lift in Belgium (Strepy Thieu). That lift lifts a whole ship and water bucket up 73.15 metres! My train elevator is actually even more difficult to balance because the ship lift can use the water to make the water bucket + ship the same weight as the massive concrete counter weights. So thats why I made some counter weights that can be lifted/dropped to match the train weight with the counter weights. Check out the ship lift Strepy Thieu here. ua-cam.com/video/pTTaKkMmZRI/v-deo.html

      Note that trains lift existed (appart thoses on mine shafts).
      The Waterloo & City line of the London underground was only accessible by a pair of lifts;
      And yes, a train fell down the shaft one day.

    This is phenomenal! It’s the pinnacle of Lego Engineering I love it! The little details like the pulley brake system, coupling between trains etc. everything is hands free! It’s what I wanted from my Hornby train sets when I was young :) Great job again!

      Thanks! You can build curves from straight Technic Beams and I am so crazy to modify straight beams so they are slightly bent so I can make smoother curves. In this video on the shelves are the curves with straight beams but in other videos you can also see the smooth curves.
      The process to get the beams slightly bent is pretty funny but it's maybe a bit too crazy for Lego fans.
      When 100K people subscribe I will make a video about the beam bending!

    • @reinei1
      @reinei1 Рік тому +4

      @@nomadMik afaik yes, they provided a counter balancing mass to keep the force the upper lift segment needs to exert to a minimum (since the small weights on the ground don't add any force while those higher up do)
      You can also see the need for readjustment when the engine was disembarking on the second floor (counting the lower one as "floor one"):
      The entire bridge jumped up slightly because it suddenly became lighter than the counter balancing weights and almost destroyed the continuity of the tracks

    とてもとてもお久しぶりです! 長らく更新されてなかったので、昨今の情勢もあり心配しておりました。
    エレベーターと言えば固定のカウンターウェイトと動滑車および縦方向のレール(あるいはラックレール式)で構築される方が多いですが、そちらのは車輌の移動に合せてカウンターウェイトを動かし水平を保つ設計で、芸が細かいですね。
    変圧器を運ぶ吊りかけ式の大物車(Schnabel car)は、我が国ではついにシキ800型(type "shi-ki" 800)を残すのみとなってしまいましたが、列車砲を思わせるダイナミックな構造が好きな貨車の一つです。

      The counterweights are really needed because the braking system is not strong enough. And if the brakes were strong enough the strings would slide over the big wheels if there is too much weight. I also put some rubber bands on the wheels so they have more grip on the strings.

      i think its not. twice the mechanisms encontour an issue, goes back and tries again (like lowering rails after lifting elevator 1st time ), and the timing of these retries don't sound regular. also even if all this is amazing I can't find where he could have put probes to detect these issues. if all this was fully automated it would be more fluent.

      @@Benoit-Pierre Perhaps, I thought the error detection could be similar of that to an elevator door, or a shopping store, where there is a preset distance it has to travel, and akin to a stepper motor, It will know if it has travelled that length or not.

      @@GoodFunIndustries after looking other vids, it's all manual. Just a fact. Not saying it can't be automated, it's probably not possible to automate it using official parts, or even compatible. Or it may be very complicated (official sets include IR barrier that can be transformed into position probe using a reflector . But this feedback needs to be returned to central unit ).
      Encoders can be an issue with démultiplication as you may have so much power that plastic bends to the point your encoder tells you you have reach arrival, while you in fact bent every thing. Encoders are reliable when used with current probes. And for sure, Lego don't provide current probes.

    I'm curious why you made your own custom wider track instead of just using G gauge track? G gauge is already wider than Lego gauge, and you can easily make a lego train that works with G gauge.

    • @legotechnictrains8999
      @legotechnictrains8999  Рік тому +2

      Hi, the first train I built was a size bigger so track was 11 studs wide, now it is 9 studs wide. I noticed the train became really heavy and the plastic track was bending because of the weight. Also the curves become really big, I guess 3 meters for a 180 turn. And finally, maybe most important, there are no good train wheels so I use the 2695 wheel but is fairly small so the trains had to become smaller so the proportions are OK. Making them smaller actually created a whole bunch of challenges that I will explain in future videos. The cool thing is that all challenges have been overcome! Practically anything that I can think of is possible haha. Next models should be better with all that I know now.

      @@sleeplessengineer1450 Well, using brass tracks doesn't work out with the plastic theme haha. I am curious what a brass 30 meter G gauge track would cost. I see on Ebay a piece of 1.2 meters is around $200 so 30 meters brass track would cost $5000.
