    There really isn’t a lot out there on the internet built to the scale of technic figures. My lego train setup is built with system pieces to technic figure scale, with system track, it works out to about a 30” narrow gauge line. The quality of your trains continues to impress, more so because you have done it with mostly or all technic parts. This video is quite the production, I love it.

    I've actually watched a crew rerail a diesel-electric locomotive before, and you don't need cranes. All you need are some wooden wedges and a competent engineer. EDIT: Cars yes, since they can't move themselves. But if only 1 of the diesel's trucks derails, all you really need to do is pull the cars away, put some wooden wedges behind the derailed wheels, and slowly reverse the locomotive, and it should pull itself back onto the rails.

      I've seen those tools where the train drive back up to track. But in my case the track was broken so I had to lift it. I think these side boom tractors are only used in the US so there are probably several ways to do this. Thanks

    • @schwarzermoritz
      @schwarzermoritz 6 місяців тому +3

      Which relies on someone driving the locomotive, in a situation where it is not impossible for things to go south and the thing tipping over. I'm not saying it's inherently unsafe, but a lift with cranes is much better to control and make safe. Which is why that is standard practice for a lot of cases.

      @@legotechnictrains8999Even if the track is broken you can still use wooden wedges to guide the derailed wheels back on

    • @mephInc
      @mephInc 6 місяців тому +2

      I can confirm this to an extent. I've re-railed many a locomotive and train car. Sometimes you can, as op stated, simply pull the cars back and use wedges and pry bars to walk the wheels back into the tracks. It's just a matter of getting the lip to work back to the inside.
      However, there are times where it can't be done and you have to get the dozers with the crane to lift. (Seen 75ft of track disintegrate).
      With that said, I work at a steel mill and our cars are between 400 and 500 tons each as compared to 30 tons for normal over the road.

      @@mephInc 400-500 Tons each? Jeez, what kind of god-tier trackage do you guys have? There's no way normal rails could handle that, right?

    Looking forward to seeing what becomes of (what looked like) those prototype knuckle couplers!

    • @legotechnictrains8999
      @legotechnictrains8999  6 місяців тому +2

      I am not sure if it possible to make knuckle couplers in Technic Lego small enough for my trains, like they actually function in real life. And I still don't completely understand how they work after watching several videos about them haha. So now I've got some very primitive knuckle couplers. You can see them in the video below at around 3 min in. My latest version does not have the 2 loose pins anymore but only the black parts I put in the middle that locks everything. There is quite a lot of play (loose space) in the connection which actually helps with pulling the heavy cars because they don't need to be pulled in one go but one after the other because of the play.
      Video: ua-cam.com/video/C9EUYhrmUsM/v-deo.html
      (at 3 mins in)

    • @KouuToriProductions
      @KouuToriProductions 6 місяців тому +1

      Well, having some play and therefore the sequential pulling is pretty realistic. I think in real life they use spring mechanisms to accomplish em that, but it's still the same basic effect of having slack in the train. You have the right idea with that black drop down piece as well, that's similar to the mechanism that a Janney coupler uses to keep them locked in place.
      There's a channel who goes by Hyce, he has a really good breakdown on the different types of American couplers, including a few different types of Janneys, on his channel. Maybe that will help provide some insight?

      @@legotechnictrains8999, how do you make the double switch track in lego technic? Is important for the lego technic city for me. Did you know that? Luckily these tractors were not so big so not that many parts. To keep the cost down I buy the cheap chinese motors/receivers/controllers. There are 6 small PF motors in each tractor so 12 real Lego motors would cost lot. I also only buy sets when they are on discount. And if a lot of people watch my videos that also helps.
