    Today I am not cleaning alone! I have my dear friend Bonia with me and she is also a cleaning influencer. And that is not all! We also had a couple lovely reporters helping us while they were interviewing us. Since there was so many of us the cleaning didn’t take long, we were done in one day!! But again there is a very interesting story behind this home. The resident was a doctor who also suffered from ocd. While his apartment was dirty, for example his dishes were very neatly organized. The most upsetting things was that he was running ozone machines in his apartment to get rid of the smell and bacteria. It is really dangerous to be around ozone devices whilst they are on. But he had been living with them for ages. We turned the machines off and cleaned the home. He promised to hire a cleaner to come maintain the clean home once a week. I really hope he got the help he needed from us. ❤️

    Auri you could have a clause in the contract that if you encounter anything dangerous or unsafe for the occupant or the neighbors that you will advise the owner first to correct the issue, and if they cannot or will not will have to notify the management and authorities if needed. This is a fairly standard safe from harm clause, for instance, if you take your car to the mechanic and they notice a serious safety issue they have to notify you.

    Hii, Auri! I'm also a doctor who has OCD, and I couldn't stop smiling while watching you helping Charlie! OCD had me cleaning everything perfectly everyday, even when I came home from the hospital late at night. I would spend hours and hours cleaning my apartment and couldn't sleep much. As someone with diagnosed OCD and OCPD It’s so nice to see a dirty house of a person with OCD. So many people assume if you have OCD your home will be clean and perfect but what they don’t realize is you may spend so much time counting and tapping things that there’s not enough time in the day to make your whole house perfect. Also, just knowing that it will take you hours to Compulse and having back pain/ knee pain will make you to where you literally can’t do things because you know you can’t just do it quickly. You HAVE to Compulse and it takes hours. Ex Folding a load of laundry takes 2 hours so you just don’t fold it cause it’s gonna make your back hurt. You just leave it sitting in a hamper.

    • @misuharu6537
      @misuharu6537 6 місяців тому +32

      EXACTLY THIS. Thank you for explaining it. OCD can be extremely complicated and it's messed up whole life as I can't live normally at all. If I'm gonna clean I'll compulsively have to do it so thoroughly it takes hours even for one small task. I bet it was difficult for this person to let someone into their home to clean. I can't even deal with anyone touching my things and putting them in the wrong place. And I cried after my mom had cleaned my place after I told her to NOT clean, because it wouldn't be 'good enough' for me despite her being a professional cleaner. I have to do things MY way or I feel like the perceived dirt will just spread everywhere.

    I’ve been diagnosed with OCD and unfortunately for me that’s not the type of OCD I suffer from. It’s funny how people always associate it with being clean. • @Wenixi
      @Wenixi 4 місяці тому

      It's just that people are very very uneducated and unaware of the disorder. The bacteria OCD and cleaning OCD are just like drops in the ocean of the OCD sphere.
      Mostly ocd is about everything else than cleaning and being clean. More like it messes up your life.
      You know it now.
      The doctor most likely can help everyone else but himself. That's a problem with many people in general.
      And ocd is many times the disorder for people who are too pedantic and self demanding so it becomes extreme. To be a doctor you would need to have lots of self discipline and even self critique, which has become too much for this person to handle. He wants to be clean with the o-zone purifiers and all. But he can't handle his intrusive thoughts and that's why he can't do nothing at home.

    If you are watching this part about the ozone machines and have no idea what kind of smell Auri is talking about, I'll explain. Have you ever been outside after a rainstorm? Do you remember that smell in the air after it passes? That is ozone. It's a very sharp smell, slightly sulphur-y like how the air smells after fireworks have been fired off.

      The smell after a rainstorm where I am is a lush green smell because I live near lots of trees and grass - it’s a sweet pleasant smell of damp earth and leaf. Maybe ozone is more obvious in denser city areas. I’m not sure but never smelled sulphur after rain. After rain here, the air is fresh and clean smelling. 🤷‍♀️

There may be people around him suffering from unexplained health conditions that he was the cause of. I am a very sympathetic person, but in this case I don't feel bad for him. The building manager should be warned of his behaviour at the very least. Him refusing to seek help for his OCD is actively putting the health of innocent others at risk. I don't care how fair he thinks life might be to put him in this position, it doesn't give him any right to be this unfair towards others who have nothing to do with it. He could've killed a neighbours baby for fuck's sake.

    I totally get it. I'm not ocd, I don't think, but when I clean I have to do it 110%. So I'll sometimes put off cleaning until I get the energy to do a full day of cleaning - and that's EACH ROOM. Then I'll DEEP clean and even then I feel like it's never clean enough. I make a long list and I just get burnt out and exhausted. I've had a talk with myself that it's okay to tidy and spot clean when things get dirty. It's okay to have things not 100% clean. I only deep clean twice a year, spring and fall. So far it's working for me. BTW - thank you Auri for the oven cleaner/cling film tip to clean glass stove tops! It works like a charm! ❤ I also repurposed my old microfiber hair towel as a cleaning towel and it works so well!

I've started trying to incorporate small cleaning tasks into my day (like making my bed in the morning) instead of letting it build up and that helps me. Struggling with not achieving perfection is very relatable to me. I hope you find a balance where you feel relaxed and enjoy cleaning:)
