Today I had the honor of helping a lovely granny Irene. Before I even started to clean she told me that she had lived her whole life judging people whose homes get into this kind of condition. She told me that she just never understood how a situation can get so bad. That was until she found herself in a situation like this. @@jerihaggard7234 I agree, once their home is relatively clean, they can rent a Karcher to wash their sofas and mattresses and have the rugs professionally cleaned if they choose so. The YT channels about carpet cleaning are fun to watch too. There's a limit to what one person or even a small team of people can do!

I can't help but think that elderly people like Irene just need regular help with cleaning their home, and it also allows someone to check up on them to make sure that they are OK and get their medical needs taken care of, too.
I can tell you for a fact as a 66 year old battling cancer that so much of what I used to do I can no longer do. Not only age but fatigue that comes with medications.
Getting old is a privilege if you consider many don't get that privilege so I am not complaining just pointing out that life sometimes throws you a curve ball.
I am doing fine but the things I can no longer do drive me nuts. I would kill for my floor boards to be washed but it is hard to ask for help so I understand.

@@audreycasassa1683 Do you mean the floor or the baseboards? Get a spin mop. It's lightweight and the spinner spins out the water so well. I even plan to wash the walls and ceilings with it. I've seen examples in reviews or in videos.
One room would be enough for one day, and the others stretched out over a month or three and it would be good for another 2-5 years or more.
Depending on where you live, if anyone smokes in the home or does a lot of fried foods or you use a woodstove. A cobweb duster is lovely to have, too. A partial sphere of bristles that get into corners nicely.
I've done ceilings with a small swiffer flat mop and that does the trick, too.
@@annblachly8068 Hi Ann, thank you for responding. I rented a 101 year old house that has been a rental property for about 45 or so years. Ceilings 10ft with lots of big trim and floor boards. Lots of smokers have lived here and the last tenant lived on deep fat fried food. The grease you cannot even imagine.
I get frustrated with what I used to be able to do compared to what I can no longer do.
I am trying to adopt this mind set: How do you eat an elephant. . .One bite at a time😊😊😊
I don’t know about other countries, but here in France we do have people who do this job but they’re soooo underpaid that not many actually want to do it or can make a decent living out of it. What a shame really
Here in the Netherlands we also have People who clean for elderly people. They get average payment, paid from insurance.

I don’t have a pristine home but have taught my kids to always start with “trashes!” If you stay with someone else or are trying to help someone, if you can’t do anything else, taking care of trash for them is easy & is a big help.
I find it adorable the way she says “trashes”! I love her and her positive attitude.
I love trashes too. I know it’s not grammatically correct but I don’t care. Trashes is cute, funny and uniquely Auri.🥰😍Besides, until we can speak fluent Finnish, we have no right to criticise.
My son was staying with my mom for a week helping her, and she said it was so helpful that he took the trashes (☺️) out and did dishes without having to be asked.
Hearing that people say you don't do it "perfect" makes me mad. You clean homes, giving people the opportunity to start fresh. It's much easier to keep a clean home clean than it is to clean a dirty one, and now they can start over with a clean home. I am sure to them, it IS "perfect"!
Literally ❤️ Plus if they did want that extra deep cleaning eg rugs, sofas then theres people/companies who will do that professionally 💕 All this woman does is tidy up the majority getting it to a better state to be lived in or more deep cleaneed like they wanted.
Thank you so much for hanging that picture! As you get older, there are many things you need help with. Hanging the picture makes the room look finished and will make the lovely lady more relaxed with the scene on it! She probably wanted it hung for a long time.
That's so true. I have sooooo many jobs I need help with at my age. They never get done and it's so frustrating. My kids help when they can but they have full time jobs and little ones and their places to keep nice.
They are coming tomorrow to do a bit. I also have lots to put on the walls and I've waited 10 years so far😢.

This is life-changing for the resident. Anyone who can still focus on minor imperfections and criticize Auri's generosity may want to look into their own mental health issues.
It's a common thing for people that retire they seem to go down hill. It's because they have a routine then all of sudden they don't have work etc. That's why they're is so many clubs etc. You done brilliant as always xx

Beautiful job, Auri and brother. Lots of trashes for sure. Life can spin out of control before you know it. My grown son and daughter came today to clean my yard, mow the lawn and wash my granddaughter’s outside toys. I was so grateful, I am 72 and awaiting a total knee replacement. It is difficult to walk or bend. I have always done everything myself so it was difficult to ask for help. But I am so happy I did. Thank you for this video.🙂
Wow...what a huge difference, it looks so pretty and I'm sure the lady just needed help to kickstart her zest for life again. She sounded like she was depressed after retiring and losing the daily company of friends and work colleagues. It is so easy to lose sight of yourself. I am convinced she will have maintained her home ever since and felt proud of it too.

Exactly! I'm disappointed in her for not acknowledging that. People have been saying this in the comments for several months and she has never said anything about that. She may have started because she wanted to help people, but it's obvious that it's all about money now. Otherwise she wouldn't partner with better help.
She may have a contract to be their sponsor for x amount time. She might not have the ability to stop without a penalty.

It seems like the people like this one and most of your others suffer from depression, not hoarding. The one house in Germany that you and your helpers cleaning was an actual set of hoarders. But I noticed that none of these depressed people have art on the walls. This lady did have art, and it was so nice of your brother to hang the one painting. Retiring from her career is a big cause of depression; I know I was depressed for two years after retiring. Boom, then the pandemic struck and I was stuck at home for two more years. I enjoy your videos and they give me some inspiration to do more cleaning. thank you Auri

Oh,this was a wonderful cleaning,I have such a sympathy for the elderly. Especially when they have few or no family and friends. I have been blessed with children that are willing to help me. She seems like she would want to know that something simple like this could really help those she is trying to help. I would ask her to do anything that created more work for herself, because like she said, she can only do so much. Perhaps you are young too? Or perhaps you are fortunate not to live with any issues.

I'm surprised at how hard it is for me to reach thing tucked back in lower cabinets now that I'm 67 even though I walk thousands of steps per day. I don't know why you think this suggestion is so out of bounds.
It just blew my mind when you said cleaning is something most people don't have to think about - I never realized that it's so different than it is for me. Living with depression since I am 11 years old made me think EVERYONE needs to plan out every single cleaning task and has to take them in small steps to not get completely overwhelmed. Putting away your shoes? Oh, too bad, you already put away the laundry from two weeks ago, there won't be energy left for the shoes 🤷 really love the work you do, thank you so much for being such a lovely person

Once upon a time I watched a few of the "hoarding" shows and was so FRUSTRATED at how mean and judgemental they were, no understanding how life could take a turn - the absolute opposite to you. The way you clean is fine. If you see something glaringly bad like the stain on the floor you try and take care of it. You might even do that with a stain on a sofa. If it is the entire sofa that is way too much tho and on the owner! I like how your brother very considerately worked on the bookcase. He arranged and rearranged until everything was spaced well and balanced. He didn't just put the items back anywhere! 😁

I'm stuck with a big flu in my bedroom for a week and unable to clean my bedroom. I can't wait anymore to get rid of my cough and to be able to clean again. I have started a good spring cleaning and decluttering of my kitchen but I've stopped for 8 days since. I've had a good start. I hope I will be able to complete it this week. A good deep cleaning and spring cleaning is much more needed for my peace of mind. I can't thank you enough for all the goodness you bring in people's life and in my own life.
