My opinion about when John gets arrested in Saint Denis is that if he was with the gang on the boat he would have most likely died when the boat sinks cause of the fact he can’t swim 🏊♀️

The trolly accident could absolutely cause severe swelling and possibly bleeding. The loss of hosea and knowing he likely caused his gang to fail would only compound any symptoms. As well as the guilt of shooting that girl in the head. Yes he'd start loosing his grip on sanity
Dutch doesn’t feel guilt for shooting Heidi McCourt It’s very obvious Dutch is a narcissist, a hypocrite, and a manipulative liar
1. Whenever people are against his plans and want to lay low he gets easily angered and argues with them
2. He continuously tries to rope the gang into danger
3. Constantly tries to pin his faults on other gang members
4. Freudian slips Always says “I” instead of “We” and corrects himself whenever people talking about getting out of a tough situation
5. Despite saying he’s against revenge he constantly tries to go after Colm
6. Cheats on, neglects, and insults Molly (Flirts with the girl gang members despite Dutch being a father figure to everyone)
7. Constantly tries to excuse his actions by saying “I have no choice” or “We have no choice”
8. Demeans the gang members if they seem like they’re “doubting” him
Then there’s everything else but by that point Dutch was breaking or already broke
And the gang not caring about Ms. McCourt
I’m a psych student. It really doesn’t take much of a bump to the head to cause even the slightest amount of damage or a concussion.

Or he could just have been a paranoid schizophrenic, who's symptoms progressed very slowly over the years. As the 💩 hit the fan, more & more Micah whispering in his ear, and the trolley crash, it sped it up rapidly until his downfall
Personally, I like to think that after Red Dead Revolver, Red Harlow retired from the life of a Wild West gunslinger and lived a regular life. To rid himself of his past, Red changes his name to Leigh Johnson clears Armadillo of all the squatters and makes it livable again after the diseases we see in RDR2’s New Austin pass through, where the people elect him as Sheriff

Abigail being the rat is another stupid thing. People focus on one thing, but dont say the other… like her relationship with other gang members.. why would Abigail put Arthur, John, Hosea and Sadie into a danger?
How she slipped away from bank robbery? - she isnt known outlaw, she was dressed up as a fancy lady of Saint Denis, she could easily mingle with a crowd. Or maybe Hosea helped her? Ever thought of that? They are each other’s father-daughter figures. He didnt want her to get captured or k*lled…
Why was she taken by Pinkertons to van horn? - she literally says it. She was outside of a camp. And the reason no. 2.. STORY. PURPOSES ! Just so we have emotional scene of Arthur and Sadie telling her John’s dead. And mainly… SO SHE GIVES ARTHUR A KEY FROM THE CHEST, since John has told Arthur that Abigail knows where the money is.
- Milton had no reason to lie about Micah… Milton counted on Arthur not leaving that fence store alive. So he could spill all the beans on him.
And pls. Jack is John’s son. Point blank periodt. Javier joined a gang in 1895, Jack was born around spring/summer of 1895. Timeline doesnt add up. Bill is gay (Steve J. Palmer actually said it), Arthur was full of Mary in his head, and Dutch would’ve hardly sleep with her. Like… do you think he’d take an orphan girl in distress to his gang to use her as a prostitute? Really? 😂😂 that goes against the whole facade of morality dutch is preaching. Yes he said to john “oh we all had her” but after playing both games multiple times… it sounds more like he just wanted to tease john and make him mad.

While I don’t believe she was a rat at any point in the story I do think she had the motivation if push came to shove to be one. She makes it very clear if it came down to Jack and her family making it or say Arthur, Hosea, etc she isn’t choosing the gang lol.
To add onto this
Pearson’s gang photo confirms Abigail had Jack while the only male members were Dutch, Hosea, John, Pearson, Arthur, and Bill (Uncle is missing in the photo but he could’ve been the one to take it)
Also Dutch was against Grimshaw being a prostitute so it wouldn’t make sense why he’d support or take part in Abigail’s prostitution

I think that the trolley accident made his mind realize more irrational conclusions much more easier to convince of himself than before. Ofc dutch had... 'plans' before the accident but after it i believe the accident further worsened it
I think one of the main grounds for the strange man theory is that Arthur’s journal says that he saw someone similar in stature to trelawney in blackwater, and later trelawney says he was in blackwater. We also know from rdr1 that the strange man was in both blackwater and st. Denis.
That does not explain the deal The Strange Man made with Herbert Moon.

I can believe Micah being a rat as early as that, given how despite all that running and hiding , Milton and the Pinkertons are always a step right behind.
The only thing why I don’t think he would turn Dutch in that early (Colms set up) is because Micah still doesn’t have the location of the Blackwater money that only Dutch and MAYBE Hosea know the location of
Colm might give him money for turning in Dutch plus the bounty already on his head might be more than the black water money

@@dingus123-ll7tzMicah told Dutch about the idea and they went with it, but it goes wrong when they get ambushed and Dutch killed a innocent women, Arthur and Hosea I believe we’re doing a separate robbery, I got confused as to why Arthur didn’t see what went down in black water due to him doing something else at the time, I do believe Micah gave Dutch some influence to be a cold hearted person who needed to survive and that’s exactly what happened with the women he choked to death at guarma and abandoning John durring the last score, with the debate whether or not Micah or Molly were the rats I doubt molly said anything worth of use other than the fact she was crazy in love with Dutch I had my suspicions on the mission we free Micah from prison he didn’t return to camp it’s like he had other business to attend to I did believe he did snitch on chapter 5 but he was in guarma with the gang or how he was screaming Arthur’s name repeatedly when he killed almost half the town in strawberry

GTA6 reveals the man in the hat is actually rockstars version of the watchers. It assumed the role of angel of death in red dead 3 times(aka when dutch starts the van der linde gang) and reveals themselves in GTA 6 in a dlc update. In Bully 2 they make a cameo as the local groundskeeper AFTER clearing a certian mission

I think micah coulve ratted in blackwater i cant remeber if it was dutch in the first mission or javier when they went to rescue john he says it was almost like they knew they would rob the ferryboat
To add the Dutch brain injury, in the mission where Eagle Flies, Dutch, Charles, and Arthur steal horses from an army boat, when Dutch crashes, it looks like he was very dizzy, possibly relating to the trolley incident
Make sure to pack an outfit suitable for cold climate on your horse before embarking on an expedition on an iceberg
It’s more than just one line dutch says “I bumped my head badly” When the crash happens

Absolutely wonderful, not finished yet but ive always been waiting for a large collection of the theories about rdr2. I've just started a fresh, heavily modded (for looks) playthough

@@WaxyyyCurrently I'm using multiple 4k upscales as well as CERR for Euphoria, Another Horse Overhaul, PDO and personally I would recommend mods from Wickedhorseman on nexus. There's a lot more in my list, I could compile it if you'd like, but I went for a complete overhaul after completing the game normally. Installation for me took a while, mainly the downloading process, but despite my mediocre computer it still ran beautifully! The snow mod that you're talking about is called Simple Snow which you can pair with Snow Weather FEAR Edition.
Your historical videos brought me to Rdr2 as well as duke and zonkers, so it was amazing to see the colab!

I think Abigail being the rat is a solid theory. It even makes sense canonically, the pinkertons make a deal with Abigail to bring down Dutch. But in RDR2 they didn’t manage to bring down Dutch. They track down Abigail and then tell John they’re keeping her hostage until the jobs done. Why else choose John? Dutch at least suspects John and Abigail and maybe that’s why he didn’t want to save John.

Micah was a rat from the start. Back in Chapter One he kept saying to go back to blackwater to get the money, wanting to get them into the hands of pinkertons.

If Abigail is a rat then she is stupid, because ratting on the gang puts not only herself but Jack at risk. As shown when they show up right after they reunite at Lakay. I just don’t see Abigail putting Jack at risk like that. Hosea definitely sacrificed himself to get Abigail out. That’s in his character

To anyone wondering whether or not Uncle really is Red Harlow;
The answer is clearly, NO.
Now let me explain.
-Red Harlow was no older than his 20s by the time his story ended. So he wouldn't be older than his 30s, possibly 40s by the time of RDR2. Uncle is clearly older than that.
-There is no scorpion scar on Uncle’s right hand (unlike Red Harlow). In the first level of Red Dead Revolver, Red grabs his father’s revolver and fires it while it is engulfed in flames. The revolver had a scorpion emblem on the grip, and that emblem was burned on to the palm of Red’s hand. After that scene, we are shown a time-skip, and it is revealed that as an adult, Red covers his entire right hand with a red colored handkerchief. There is no sign of the scarring or the handkerchief on Uncle’s hand.
-Red Harlow was very morally strict and a famous bounty hunter.
Red spent the majority of his life fighting and hunting down gangs, even gangs similar to Dutch's gang, and taking down infamous nasty people. I would question why anyone thinks he would be living with outlaws now.
-the nickname "One Shot Kid" is never used for Red Harlow. In fact, that name does not exist anywhere in this series apart from the one time Uncle says it in camp. It was not intended on being anything other than another drunk Uncle anecdote.

Hosea and Arthur says multiple times in chapter 1, 2 and 3 that Dutch is different. That he's acting and doing things differently now.
When Sadie asks Arthur what happened to Dutch in chapter 6, he says "It seems like what started happening in blackwater started happening long before.. a slow decline perhaps"
In Arthur's journal, before blackwater, he writes about how they had money and the opportunity to disappear and buy some land. But didn't, because Dutch just didn't liked any land that they found and kept blocking their attempts to make it work.
I feel that this event made Dutch's "nature" kick in.
He noticed that fighting could be more important than saving his loved ones.
I feel that he was conflicted about this two options during the whole game.
He sometimes talks about the gang as family. And sometimes talk about them as disposable soldiers "of course it would be casualties"
Then he gets cornered by this changing world with constant pressure.
Being doubted and confronted by the people that always idealized him. His failures causing pain and deaths
Having a big trauma on the head, losing his best friend, his younger son/brother and getting stuck in a hot af island far from his land.
Honestly it's surprising he was able to form complete sentences in chapter six.
+ i'm playing the game again and i just noticed that when Arthur tries to talk with bill and javier about Dutch's recent choices. They never even mention leaving, they always bring the "if we have to fight, we fight. With we have to die, we die"

If there is a heaven and hell, Arthur's hell would be having to watch all that Dutch does after Arthur's passing
It broke Arthur's heart already, seeing what Dutch became in the later chapters; but seeing what a monster Dutch became by RDR1, would absolutely crush Arthur. And then seeing Dutch kill himself because of his own insanity and desperation.
Then again, he'd get to see Dutch shoot Micha :)
Fun Fact: The three shots that John shoots at the Strange Man foreshadow's the three bodies being there on that same hill at the end of the game (Uncle, John, Abigail), pretty much confirming that the Strange Man is the Grim Reaper.

I like to think in the context of Revolver and the Redemption games are in seperate universes. Uncle is an alternate version of Red Harlow. Basically Red Harlow is what Uncle might have been but in the Redemption universe was known as "The One Shot Kid" instead of Red Harlow.
I think uncle is rather a reference or tribute to Red Harlow, But i could imagine uncle being a gunslinger earlier in his life.

Regarding bill I noticed after breaking out mica is when you can get bill asking for hair promenade and Arthur will ask who you tryna impress or something along that line
Dutch was already quite vile before the trolley mission. Good men just dont shoot innocent women, case in point during the Blackwater heist. I think the potential brain injury definitely sped up his decline, but he was already slipping
Here me out, how cool would it be if RDR3 was a game set years before RDR2 and you get to play as both Red Harlow and Landon Ricketts (like in gta v)
They both have a mysterious untold part of their gunslinging days. It could be that they ran together as two of the greatest gunslingers of all time. And you, as the player, get to live out their glory days riding together.
Maybe they'll have a third gang member that you can also play as but he dies at the end, and Harlow and Ricketts get revenge

Abigail point is interesting. Another thing I have just considered though is how its a little strange how 'uninviting' Abigail is to the gang members in the epilogue. She also in some ways defends Micah, trying to dissuade plans to kill him. Its also crossed my mind that when she kills Milton whilst he identifies Micah, she could be trying to cover her back as she's scared he will mention her involvement also?

Another thing that’s wrong with the Josiah = the strange man theory is that John would definitely recognize one of the many people he was in a gang with for years, even with him popping in and out of the gang from time to time.

The problem with revolver and redemption being in separate universes is there are random encounters in rdr1 (and maybe 2 idk) that mention red Harlow and his deeds

Before the Saint Denis robbery, at camp Hosea told Arthur that Abigail is “looking around in Saint Denis” or something like that. Like how’d John get arrested and the rest is getting shot at, like she was making a trade
I think Abigail bring inexplicably lucky at points can probably just be chalked up to the fact that she has to survive to be in RDR1.

The Abigail theory changed my whole perception of the story for me. As for when Milton dies and doesn't tell Arthur that it was Abigail, I think you could pass that as Milton holding up his end of the bargain. Only for Abigail to realize that Arthur is as much a part of her family as John and turn on Milton herself. I think it would be believable that she was fake tied up to give the illusion that she was under threat in case any of the gang that would come looking for her. After all she managed to get out of the restraints no problem. As with any theory it's not perfect but has enough that makes sense, to me at least
My game theory for uncle (and the personal head canon I like to believe is that he is Red Harlow, and the events of Revolver happened in some fashion in the RDRedemption universe, if all else fails, then it’s just a campfire story in the redemption universe.
A theory that supports the Abigail theory is the fact that she saved Arthur because she knew that he was slowly starting to criticize and turn against Dutch for his actions. And, Milton was probably thinking that Arthur would find a way to survive, so he lied and said Micah was the rat.
the micah being a rat for the odriscolls in chapter 3 makes perfect sense because he had to be snitching to somebody

Yoo another point to add that bill is gay, is that in red dead redemption 1 when hogtie and capturing javier escuela if you wait long enough john says this "so its you and bill now you two sharing one bed" and javier replies "hey c'mon its not like this"
