I feel like it would be interesting to see some totally new products such as some of the premium European hiking boot companies like Lowa, Scarpa, Zamberlan, etc. Zamberlan makes a backpacking boot with traditional Norwegian Welt construction that has to be way nicer than any of the Danner products you have looked at.
Cheaply built, luxury priced and riding on an established name and reputation is what happens when Private Equity gets involved. Shame, but capitalism yeah?
Great video! I’ve had a pair of Brysons for two weeks. Wear them almost every day; very comfortable and they actually help with my plantar fasciitis. Got them on sale for $124; this morning I checked and they were down to $104. What I wanted to say is that I had reached out to Birkenstocks when my boots first arrived, to ask them about the boots’ lining. I thought it felt synthetic, so I asked them, and they replied: “The inside of the footwear is a thin lining of our natural leather, which would be same as our Oiled Leather styles without the oiled coating on the footwear.” Now, according to your video, what they said is false. I’m grateful for your helpful video. Like you, I’m not head over heels in love with them but for comfort and style and especially helping relieve my foot pain, they’re worth it.
When are we going to get a month of all dress shoes? Allen Edmonds, Crockett and Jones, Santoni, Too Boot New York, Magnanni, Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, Stacy Adams, etc....?
I’d like to see a review on Tricker’s boots, they are generally considered the be all and end all for British style country boots and have the royal seal of approval 👍
You should do a review on some adtec boots, they used to supply feild and forrest at fleet farm and the pair i got have lasted significantly longer than expected for the price

Thanks for doing this review. I live in the Arizona, and Oswego in the summer and just got the Bryson last winter. I have Plantar fasciitis and the Bryson is my most comfortable boot. I am happy to hear it is not completely BS lol. I am hoping the new boot is better.
Been wearing birkenstock QS600 (Steel toes) for the last few years for work and they have held up ya better then I thought they would. Ugly as sin but if you're feet are super wide they work great
If a footwear company is willing to offer a single product with anything faux or imitation in it anywhere, just run like hell from the entire brand and never look back for a second.
I love that you say it exactly how it is. “A Bullshit boot”. Would love to see a review of Double H cowboy boots & Kenetrek Hardscrabble. (I’ve been wearing Kenetrek for the last 8 years in the construction industry. Best boot I’ve ever worn.
For those of us who feel a tinge of guilt when buying Redwings these videos sure are reassuring and soothing! £200 is a lot of money but pay £55 extra per boot to have a beautifully made long lasting alternative that can be resoled AND looks better the more you wear i! Also, have you cut open the Timberland Larchmont Chukka? Im intrigued to see whats hiding in those things!
My friend bought it in December 2023 had it for 2 months. After that that outsole started to fell apart from the midsole. He had to return them to get back his money. So they are much worse that you say
The JK boots will probably last longer, but for a light duty boot, the Jim Greene boots are pretty good. I live on a ranch in South Texas. I have been wearing the Jim Green African Ranger boots. I wear them strictly for comfort reasons. I am old and my feet are shot. For the price, they are a good deal. When my current pair wears out, I will just get a new pair.
10:30 Legit question. Why would anyone want a boot with the fat birkenstock cork-sole? Birkenstocks are comfortable as a quick slip on slipper. But they're really not that comfortable for long outside walks. They will never compare to a running shoe or a good moc-toe boot in terms of comfort and protecting your joints.
The leather on my Birkenstock Tokio's is easy to clean but it doesn't breathe at all. I guess it kind of makes sense for a shoe focused on the service industry.
Dr Martens made a "new" type of leather for their boots. They call it Genix Nappa and it's a "reclaimed" leather. Could you please make a review on it so people would know what is it and is it worth is?
I'm sorry Weston, everything except the sandals are BS. The insole isnt as good as the sandal footbed. Sometimes they use a good upper outer leather but everything else is misleading or garbage.
I really wanna see birkenstock make a boot that's filled with a lot of cork. I'm holding out on that. I love my Arizonas and now I wear almost nothing except birkenstock bend sneakers, but I'd really love to see them make a boot that's got more cork throughout.
There’s a few more of those “instagram” boot companies out there with “Portland leather goods” style ads and marketing going around saying they’re the best of the cheap price. Would love to see you rip them a new one!
I would love if you cut one day a pleaser flamingo (i plan to get a pair of them) or a brandit Phantom 3 buckle boot (i got them already) i really love your work
Also sneakers…stay away. I bought the bend sneaker and the kork crumbled in one shoe in the rear sole in year 3. It looks hollow in the sole now. They told me I had to pay the repair. I lost confidence in their shoe/sneaker products, the sandals may be still ok. My shoes are timeless and usually last over ten years and I have normal weight. I wore them infrequently. For the high price, it is unacceptable.
You know they sell repair kits for those fake leather chairs and couches to prevent further cracking and delamination, they're pretty cheap and rather effective for a while.
Honestly don't care much for the boots (I know they're gonna be meh anyways), but if Birkenstock start selling the insoles they put in these I would love to grab some (yes I'm aware they already are selling their own half insoles but they look different from these boots). They can make big bucks if they do it right imo, with different thickness or support types/level, they've got the name and a it's a growing market, more and more people are aware of effects of insoles and search for good ones
Boy that music that plays when you spread the cut apart boots sounds like someone's psyche is disintegrating and flowing down a drain. Apropos for a boot reveal, eh?
Love these reviews "exposing" the questionable practices of these brands. On a different note, I think being surrounded by some of the most expensive footwear on the market, you may have a biased judgement about price/quality ratio. By most standards $200 usd is a lot of money for a pair of boots. Period. Yes, some boots might cost that just on raw materials, but for the vast mayority, it's not. What I mean is that "allowing" or "justifying" poor quality materials or deceitfully labeled al something else in this price range should be unacceptable.
I bought the boots. They didn't last longer than a few months. The outside cork is too easy to fall apart. I returned them. However, it was comfortable to wear. I hope they will improve the durability.
Shame these boots are total garbage. I actually love the look of this boot, and minimal lugs on the outsole. Does anyone have any suggestions on boots with this exact look but with quality materials?
I say, why not just pay a couple hundred more dollars and get quality pair of boots made by white's or Nicks Boot company. The rebuilds are not that much and they keep you in a quality pair of boots for a lifetime.
Two very different target demographics, radically different prices. It's also not reasonable to just say to someone to double or triple their budget if this is the market they are shopping in
When I was working construction, that was never an option, just wasn't making enough to justify them. Granted, I also took care of my boots(since I need them to make money), so I could get a couple years out of ~$200 boots before they really needed replaced. I also wouldn't want to be trudging around in heavy ass PNW-style boots all day when I'm not doing anything that requires boots that overbuilt. They would wear my scrawny ass out lol.
With as much money as you've spent on boots, you'd think that you'd spring for a decent chair. Get a Steelcase before your back decides to rebel against your bad furniture choices.
