This looks to be an old XL9800 with a big mismatch set of parts. The motor definitely looks to have been replaced (the older 80s and 90s Orecks do have a very different motor design) but they somehow kept the original metal fan, and the outer bag does look to be from a later XL2800.
Orecks are great on bare floors, commercial carpets, and low pile carpets. Medium pile carpets they are really hard to push even with a new belt and roller.
I find these in the garbage all the time. 90% of them just need a new belt.
Our 3 year old Oreck XL2100 stopped working a few days ago. Won’t do anything when the switch is closed. I bought this vacuum specifically with maintenance/long term service in mind. Going to trouble shoot it and probably replace the motor on Saturday.
@@millenialmemoirs it might be the switch. Or the wiring came off of the back of it inside the handle. Check that first
@@hanksgarage_ it was just one of the spade connected at the switch that had come loose. But now I have a backup motor for when the stock motor fails. I do love simple machines that are designed to be repaired.
Great job on refurbishing this Oreck! It is ready for many more years of service!
Good deal! These are great little vacuums that, like Kirby, are pretty simple to rebuild and use over and over.
I see a that type of vacuum in the trash but my dad said it's trash and not fixabe I bet you can fix it if you wul thar
