Great job. Made that vac just purr after cleaning out the junk. Investing a little money might make the machine last a lot longer. Thanks for the video.
XL 9100 Do you know if the motors have an accessible fuse or an internal fusible link or microtemp? Like to know before I open it up - the motor slowed a bit then stopped.
Very nice! Sounds better than it did. I fixed one up awhile back that I got for free from a friend. It was a commercial model that was made around 2016. You should've seen the fan, lol. It was worn down so bad that it shrunk to the size of a half dollar. I am assuming it was used in a restaurant at one point, because there was a bunch of gunk (like old, dried grease) inside the brush roll chamber. I replaced the fan, roller brush and bottom plate. I repacked the bearings and gave it a thorough cleaning.
I just picked up and restored a sanitaire that was used in what I gather a similar environment. Had to use a putty knife to remove all the caked on crap after I took the motor off. Any direct air machine would be the last thing I’d recommend to a restaurant for a vacuum. So nasty.
@@hanksgarage_ Yes, I definitely agree. Unless you are using a direct air machine in an office, library or school, I wouldn't recommend them in a restaurant or where there's a lot of moisture . That was what I had to do with the Oreck. That black, caked-on junk took awhile to remove. I took the motor out and let the entire nozzle soak in hot water and Dawn dish detergent overnight.
Took mine apart cause it got jammed made the same noise, there was no clog in the fan area or in the pipes. Now it doesn't even turn over or make noise. What would you recommend
My dad youst to have oreck like that for his business I do miss you using them I tow oreck myself a xl 9000w and xl9800 are you going to replace the cord on it because the cord is not in the best condition there is a lot of tape around it.
Anyone have an issue with an Oreck XL commercial similar to this one that has a problem with the motor binding up and making a burning rubber smell (belt?) when it's being used and you apply slight sideways pressure to the handle when using the machine in a back and forth motion? It only happens if you apply left pressure to the handle. If you press to the right it's fine. It seems like there is some sideways play in the fan chamber. You can see it rock back a forth a little where it goes into the power head.

Verify the motor shaft turns by hand first

Try some super glu on that fan housing in the mean time. Might work.
I thought about doing that but a 2 part epoxy would probably work better
Loctite super gel the strongest
