  • In todays Star Wars Q&A we tackle 5 questions. Why Darth Sidious NEVER made a holocron, If The Last Jedi will be looked at fondly in the years to come, if Ben Solo is still connected to Rey in the netherworld of the Force, as well as going through one of my least favorite scenes in the Star Wars Saga.
    Please stick around till the end of the video for a pretty important message regarding not only my channel but other channels in SW Tube as well!

    Appreciate the answer! And yeah you nailed the last name pronunciation haha nice work.
    I remember you touched on my question topic in your review of the last episode, that's why I thought it'd be cool to get your thoughts isolated here. I think you do a great job of contextualizing the 2 scenes, and Luke's character, for those who still feel disgruntled about his story in The Last Jedi.
    I agree that his Mandalorian appearance only enhances his TLJ arc and it looks like some others in the comments are feeling the same way - that's amazing.
    Getting more of 'prime' Luke really makes you feel the disillusionment he had toward his past hubris in TLJ. Who wouldn't feel infallible when they can tear through Dark Troopers like butter?
    Then having the weight of the entire Jedi Order legacy on his shoulders, trying to rebuild that Order, and failing. Failing his nephew, making Ben believe Luke feared him, solidifying Ben's turn.
    It's completely in Luke's character to feel guilt and shame for that, and those feelings don't take away from his past heroics. Plus, he redeems himself in the most badass, powerful, passive, Jedi way possible and sacrifices himself to save the Resistance. It's a tragic and wonderful arc fit for such a legendary character.
    Cheers to seeing more 'prime' Luke storytelling, though! I'd love to see him take the responsibility of finding the Grogu/Yoda/Yaddle species with Grogu (after a bit of training, of course). I think reuniting Grogu with his kind could be an interesting way to not have him at the temple during Ben's fall. It'd also make Grogu's journey mirror Din's - discovering and reuniting with their people.

    Regarding the question with the Sequels getting more liked over time, I don’t think the hate will be majorly decreased unless something else gets more hate (which seems really unlikely). The Prequel hate stopped around when the Sequel trilogy came out, and even all of the hate for Star Wars Rebels got really low when Resistance came out, even though the hate for the shows weren’t as much as the movies.

      Well I think the demographic will shift. Yeah people got a new thing to rag on but you have to remember that the kids who grew up with the prequels and the clone wars didn’t start getting a major voice in the fandom until 2015 and afterwards. I was fifteen when TFA came out and a lot of the vocal prequel fans are people my age who grew up with the Clone Wars

  • @goldensunflower

    I’m not a huge fan of the sequels to be honest, but I’m not also a higa fan of the prequels either. I’ve come to accept and see the cool things of both, the prequels and sequels. I think my main grudge about them is the execution of the story on the screen more than the story plot itself. Said that, I think TLJ isn’t horrible but is the movie plot that is less cohesive in all the 9 movies; however, it does put on the table interesting plot lines that would’ve made a great Star Wars story if executed correctly. The idea that a nobody would be part of a Dyad with the heir of the Skywalker line was amazing. Luke Skywalker’s arc of how he changed from the powerful Jedi we saw on the original trilogy to the hermit we met was something I would’ve loved to know to put his present attitude on context. I think the problem for me on the sequels was the fact that they didn’t have a start and end point when they began pre production of The Force Awakens and that the style of both JJ and Rian clashed on a story that needed cohesion as is a SW trilogy. Anyway, I don’t see the point to trash them because at the end, they are canon and we still have other SW movies to pick as favorites. Just my thoughts on the topic.

    With the most recent Darth Vader comics pretty much confirming that Vader knew Palpatine was at least up to something on Exogol, do you think it was in fact Anakin reaching out through the Force asking Ben to “finish what he started” by ending Palpatine once and for all? I know Palpatine said he was the one speaking...but given how he routinely lies to his prospective apprentices, he may have been stretching the truth.

    "It's pretty explicit that he's dead" just like Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Palpatine, etc.
    I wouldn't say this if he was a force ghost with Luke and Leia at the end, but as of now it's the new Schrodinger's Fett until canon confirms if he died or was just teleported by either Leia, future Rey, or the force.

    • @ATATChat
      @ATATChat  3 роки тому +1

      Fett always has had the legends history of survival, same for palpatine and maul.
      Ben doesn't. The book and movie confirm his death by virtue of us literally seeing him die.
      It's understandable to not want that. But there's no alternative beyond head canon.

      @@ATATChat As I said, if he was a ghost with Luke and Leia or had a similar type of clear confirmation I would agree he's 100% dead.

      @@matti.8465 I find characters who do bad things having to live with their past actions and the conflict it creates while still actively trying to do good to be more interesting than killing them off to avoid said conflict.
      That's why Star Wars: Lost Stars' ending handled a similar situation in a way I find far more interesting. Granted that book is also just a masterpiece in general, not just its ending.
      That said, Revan's past actions were just as horrible if not worse than Kylo Ren's, and people are generally fine with him having a decent life in the light side ending.

    I understand that a lot of people dislike that Hux/Dameron exchange at the beginning of TLJ. It always amuses me because of Poe’s backstory. Unfortunately though, that wouldn’t mean anything to the average movie goer. What amuses me is the momma joke knowing that Hux is ashamed by being a bastard, whose mother was a lowly kitchen worker in the eyes of his general father. Then add to that the insult that Poe says the message is from Leia. Since we know how much Hux hates Kylo Ren. And I’m sure the fact that Kylo’s mother is a princess in comparison to his mother would only add to Hux’s feelings that Kylo is an entitled, overly emotional brat.

It reveals and evolve with time, like the prequel did, so i recently discovered i loved ep 7 , then i liked ep 8, and i understand what they mean, and they will build for future ep 10 and im exited for it. At the end we can always see how our beloved character evolve and what they're impact is in the galaxy. As someone who likes all the sequel films, TLJ has definitely come around for me. It was the one I least liked out of the 3 and still is but it’s so underrated. I think it has the best dialogue out of the 3 films. The casino part and the side casting of Finn are my big criticisms. I think saying JJ didn’t give a shit is a bit harsh 😂 like I’ve said before TROS is my favorite sequel, and I think JJ had a hard job having to wrap up an entire saga which is why he played it a little more safe but I still think the movie has its own good qualities and connections to 7 and 8 that people don’t really see. What direction do you think Lucasfilm should take after the events of TROS? Like it's clear they want to continue the story of some of these characters, but actors such as Oscar Isaac and John Boyega have made their disinterest pretty clear. Should they make a clone wars style show with those characters so they don't have to get the actors back, or should they focus on characters who's actors haven't shown their anger towards Star Wars?
    I'm also curious if you think the events of Lando will be after TROS, and tie into this post sequel storytelling.

      @@ATATChat Well, here's an idea for something more overarching to occur in those thirty years. While Operation Cinder was designed to burn away the weakness within the Empire and basically attempt to both fake the Empire's death and to hurt the New Republic. I believed that the next step in the Contingency after the Galactic Civil War would be Operation: Shadow's Hands (I always felt like this operation's name felt more in line with secrecy, than a grand offensive). Operation: Shadow's Hands primary goal was to undermine the New Republic from terrorism to simply criticizing the government. Palpatine main goal was not only to see the New Republic fall to ruins, but disillusion its citizen from supporting it. Palpatine preferred to fight a galaxy that more divided than united against him, making easier to once more conquer. During this time, the First Order would rebuild itself and begin to prepare for war against the whole galaxy, while the Final Order was slowly constructed on Exegol for it be the final nail in the galaxy's coffin. The final phase of the Contingency was known as Operation: Spearhead, which would become the First Order's War against the Resistance. What do you think?

    Despite how you feel about the sequels, I just think it’s redundant storytelling; they just reset the status quo by killing off the new Jedi and the New Republic in a quick swoop, and essentially made the trilogy about the new rebels fighting off another tyrannical empire, as if that wasn’t the point of the OT? I think it would have been interesting to see how the characters learned from the past and used that wisdom to make a better Republic and Jedi, rather than also failing and now relying on the new generation to fix their mess. Hope my reasoning comes out making sense.

    • @ATATChat
      @ATATChat  3 роки тому

      In a lot of ways, TFA was too safe. But I won't deny how excited I was. It's also why TLJ was welcomed by me because it tossed out the OT retread. With that all said, Tros was pretty bad and it cheapens everything.

    Star Wars is known for having some cringe but tlj scene was a little to much for me personally,
    Hux felt off character in that scene because of how he was in The force awakens
    That’s why to me pride as much as he is cool felt like Hux 2.0 by J.J.
    There is one of Tros book lines were Hux thinks about kylo and has this conversation with himself about his hair I died when I read it.
    That would have never worked in the movie but I find it hilarious.

    I mean... my biggest problem with the last jedi is it's structure. Rian Johnson's deep love of plot twists ruins the film for me. They just come out of nowhere.

    • @ATATChat
      @ATATChat  3 роки тому

      I guess I could see things as twists but it never hit me that way. Snoke dying etc to me wasn't a twist but just part of the story. I feel like the "twists" of the Sequels are Ben Solo is Kylo, Palpatine is alive, Rey was actually a Palpatine.
      But with all that said, if it didn't work for you it didn't work.

    • @TheSoulDivided
      @TheSoulDivided 3 роки тому

      @@ATATChat It's less about the twists (if you want to call them that) and more about how they are implemented. Like with Luke. At the end of the first movie, there's this huge build up with dramatic music. Then in TOJ he's just like "lol nah" and throws it over his shoulder. It just feels so jarring.
      Honestly though, my problems with TOJ relate less to the movie itself (though it has issues there too) and more with how the creative direction of the trilogy was handled (or not handled) overall.

      The reason I dont mind Kylo losing to Rey is due to him using the Force to not die. Its not perfect and not made super clear in the movie but it is in the novel. Its too bad they didnt make him look more wounded after the bowcaster hit. Technically, he was "holding in his guts".
