I am pretty sure we'll see Guilliman in a future installment. I hope they get the same guy who voiced Bobby Gdubs in Battlefleet Gothic 2 'cause he sounds EXACTLY how I pictured Guilliman's voice.
You fool, the Eldar didnt sacrifice an Autarch to kill a second captain. They killed the Captain to make sure Titus was promoted, knowing he had to protagonist powers necessary to 1v1 a newborn demon prince as well as Grimskull. Classic Eldar multilayer planning.
@@guamsoncruz5107 Tbf that's the kind of thing they do. It's honestly heartwarming to know that between the 2 games, Calgar was essentially blowing up the Inquisition's inbox with the message: "Where the throne is my 2nd captain!? Give Titus back you imperial pencil pusher!"

@li32150 Not quite...Mary Sue's are loved by all in their given setting. Titus had to deal with Leandros' whinging and reporting, and it got him sent to the Deathwatch.
@@li32150 Maybe so, but at least he is likeable out-of-setting as well as in-universe. Plus we actually get to experience some of his journey. Him being an exemplar of a Space Marine is what hooked a lot of people into the setting, including myself.
Plus he literally got tortured for nearly a century by the Inquisition, and he did die at the start of the second game before becoming a primaris, which allowed him to escape death (minor spoiler, but literally happens in the first 10 minutes of the game). Mary-sues usually don't experience stuff like that
If you watch the replay of the inquisitior SM1 he explains that the warp power he was researching affects everything else but humans...that is why capt Titus was not affected by the explosion in SM1 and at the ending with the chaos sorcerer
God, I just love that no matter what that mewling whelp Leandros did to tarnish Titus's name, the rest of the chapter considers him a Throne-damned hero and even Malum 'Exterminatus On Legs' Caedo thinks he's the coolest dude who ever lived.

Since you bring up the old (fill in the blank) Titus meme… my personal fav way, way back in the day was somebody’s crack-fic style idea of “Titus, Chosen of Isha” where his personal fantasy was a Space Marine 2 focusing on Titus getting some Eldar patronage and going on an insane adventure into the Warp to rescue Isha from Nurgle. I told him in no uncertain terms that it was the dumbest thing I’d ever heard in my life for ANY number of reasons, and also that I would play the absolute hell out of it if I could.
Then while on the way he was joined with some space wolves seeking Leman Russ cause they are jealous the Lion is back. (One theory on Leman's fate is he gone to the fabled tree of life to heal the Emperor. Who is one entity that could heal anyone and is stuck in a garden?
To be fair to Leandros, the last time a high ranking Space Marine returned alone without seemingly being corrupted by the warp, the Blood Ravens had a little civil war and a world got a nice treatment of Exterminatus shelling.
"World" more like a couple of them and yeah, seeing the bloody magpies (as the aussie fans call them) near the end of SM1 helping out Titus, showing both chapters had decent history together (and their post civil war voice "you shall find us not wanting") so..... yeah, it was STILL a dick move, just barely justified.
The problem is that Leandros directly violated a rule in his _beloved_ Codex by ratting out Titus to the Inquisition and not an Ultramarine Chaplain. Like you're supposed to.
If Titus was in TTS, he'd be the only one unaffected by the "mysterious force" that helps the Smurfs win all the time. Do with that meta commentary whatever you like.
Calgar is cope and seething hard at Titus' literal sense of normalcy, but at the same time he's awfully upset on the latter's behalf because unless someone directly helps him, Titus gets stuck in the absolute worse situations. We're talking near Lamenters level of bad luck.

Counter-Counterpoint: Ultramarines have worked together with Eldar, and bc Eldar are the best faction, the UMs automatically become the best legion by merit of association. -PNW, probably.
Space Marine 1 was my introduction to 40k, I was like 9 years old and it was one of the first games I played, so I loved Titus because he was a cool guy who chainsaws demons and Orks in half, and shoots the funny one who talks like a northerner down the pub. Now I love Titus because he embodies what a Space Marine should be to me, a defender of humanity who doesn't look down upon it, but celebrates it, especially in the first game. I love his relationship with Mira, and how he tells her she's done well, but the Ultramarines are here to help now too, it was a really nice moment and I kinda wish that 40k could do that more. Plus he was still a cool guy who chainsaws demons and Orks in half.
One of my favorite things Titus did was when you first encounter Guardsman, one of them kneels and says "You saved us!" And Titus, this seven foot superhuman with armor more expensive than those three men's life wages combined, just says. "Rise, Guardsmen. You saved yourselves." I like how he sees himself as just another soldier. Elite, yes, but no more valuable than a lowly Guardsman.
People cannot underestimate how much damage Matt Ward did to the blueberries. I was a UM player before Ward and when he showed up, it was embarrassing how fanboy this guy was. Even the most hardcore UM did not like what he did to our chapter. But finally GW wrangled him away from the lore and thing started to get better.
And I sincerely like what the Ultramarines have become since. Vanilla is the most popular flavor for a reason. Being good at everything even if you're not the best at everything is an entirely legitimate faction flavor.
As a Grey Knight fan/player I feel your pain trust me, I truly understand. Even years after the dumb lore is retconed people still think the sisters blood incident is canon etc the damage done is close to irreversible.
Got somewhat of a sneaking suspicion that his ability to tank so much Chaos corruption might be due to Lost Primarch geneseed being shuffled into the Thirteenth Legion's reserves after the [Redacted] Incident. Also, Rowboat in Space Marine 3. It is necessary.
And we know that Guerillaman can resist chaos corruption. Like that one time during the calth debacle. So it would also make sense if it turns out to be something related to the geneseed
@@ahmedabbas4434 My theory is that G-mans primarch power (other than insane processing speed) is simply resisting fate. Guilliman died twice already, could run around unhelmeted in near-vacuum, blade that corrupted Horus (If I remembed correctly) did not achieve much and so on. Malum Caedo and Titus were by all means fated to die/fall by chaos exposure but the echo of primarch power said no and made them resistant to a specific fate.
Also, the fact that Malum freaking Caedo is the slightest bit canon now is just insane. For context, A Greater Deamon of Nurgle would require a squad of Grey Knights to approach it carefully. Malum Caedo killed Several. _By Himself._ Also, his name translates to, I kid you not. _I Kill Evil._

@@NEEDbacon Bile's interaction with Slaanesh would be closer to weaponized "No", dude had suffered multiple strokes under her cosmic gaze and was like "Huh, aurora borealis is sure wild today"
As someone who was in the zeitgeist of the moment, I can confirm that Titus was a massive breath of fresh air and managed to in many eyes redeem the Ultramarines in the modern age in the same way that Guiliman and the Heresy Era Ultras were redeemed when Guiliman's first focus book has him get spaced without a helmet, hold his breath, climb back onto the outside of the ship, punch a Gal Vorbak's head off and then get back inside. None of that is made up. He didn't even have any weapons on him at the time, just his helmetless armor, and he still punched a Super Possessed's head off. And this is the Primarch known for being good at Administration.
That's the thing about Primarchs that's easy to forget: They're all defined by what is true about them besides being a neigh unstoppable badass demi-god. Because they are all that, and thus it is assumed.

@@shidditiddis True, but I mention it because after the release of Space Marine 2, there are many new Warhammer 40K fans whose first question is about the grimdark nature of the universe and how everything is messed up. So, they tend to gravitate toward what's most familiar-the "good guys," like the Salamanders. It's a very new-gen perspective, but yeah, the Salamanders are cool, whether it's a new-gen take or not.
Lest we forget, Cato Sicarius has put other Ultramarines on trial for ratting on other Ultramarines. Given the time of SM1, Titus had to have been a well-trusted personal friend and heir in waiting to Sicarius. Leandros was probably pounded into Magragge’s molten core by Sicarius.
Alright fine, I'll give the character literally written to be as annoying as possible that ONE bit of credit... The idea of him rearranging Leandros's whiny bitch face does bring a little warmth to my cold, dead heart.
The reason people hate Leandros isn't because he reported Titus to the Inquisition. It's that he pretends to hold the Codex above everything, but broke the Codex just to report Titus, when the Codex says that he should have reported it to the Librarians or a Chaplain. I'm actually surprised that you, a dedicated lore channel, overlooked this critical part of his character.
@@salvadorvega3805No, no no First name The God, middle name Emperor last name Of Mankind. I am just doing my job, avoiding one inquisitorial bolt shell at a time.
After being released from the Inquisition, Titus just sort of assumed that the Ultramarines wanted nothing to do with him anymore because they didn't come pick him up, and so he just went and joined the Deathwatch as a fucking Black Shield when all he needed to do was actually tell anyone what happened because the Ultramarines didn't actually know. Imagine spending a century in silent penance just because you're too afraid to ask your old mates if they still like you.
Also the fact that Titus, instead of keeping the deathwatch pauldron and cape on as many former members of the deathwatch do, wore the full ultramarine set. Maybe because he was glad to be back or maybe he didn't like what led up to him joining the deathwatch. It's a small humanising detail
Idk who Demetrion Titus is, I thought this was gonna be a video about Captain Titus, an man whose first name was coincidentally the same as his rank. Among being the greatest to ever do it.
Returning to this video after Space Marine 2 and Secret Level it seems that the 3rd point of why Titus hasn’t been corrupted seems to be in effect. He straight up exhibits the quote “And they shall know no fear” and rolls with it
16:03 can't be blank. Even though chaos doesn't stick to him, Titus very much DOES get affected by psychic attacks, like Nemeroth holding him in place, generic chaos magic etc.
I really like Titus given how human he is for a Space Marine which is just something you never got with Matt Ward writing them as he did. Personally I liked the Ultramarines when they had the huge legacy of their Primarch to live up to and tried very hard to be just a sliver of his greatness like any child with a famous father they had to struggle with the fact they are not their father but still must contend with being compared to him. It fits the themes of the relationships with the primarchs and the Emperor. They do what they can to live up to the legacy but of course not all attempts are met with success which makes them more human and relatable even being ten foot tall demi gods more or less. Ward just wanted an army of supermen with a god complex flaunting how they are ALWAYS better than EVERYONE just for breathing. Which pushed me to find other chapters I grew to love like the Lamenters who no matter the tragedy or loss they keep their humanity as well as they drive to protect others even if they themselves are hurting which makes them truly noble unlike the always winning and never hurting Ultramarines of ward. Even in the darkest setting a hero acts even when he is not at his best, he takes a hit but gets up for those he protects or dies trying which is much more compelling than winning just because your blue boys. The more modern versions of Smurfs I am warming up to more and Titus was a huge running dive in the right direction for me given how he will do what he needs to in order to save his own people and the mortals around him if he can. The guy is just a solid dude with by 40k standards a good heart.
Using a screenshot from the Simpsons Movie for a city covered by a big dome is inspired, I just can’t tell how. It got me thinking about that movie for the first time in a decade, so I’m not complaining.
As an Ultramarines fan, I can say Titus is basically the perfect ultramarine at least in the eyes of Guilliman. He’s a good person who follows the codex but does not worship it, rather seeing it as a guide, not absolute laws. I have a feeling that Guilliman would be very impressed if they ever meet (SM3 plz)
Yeah, if Girlyman wasn't frying many very big fish at the moment he'd be overcome with pride about how good Titus is. And dropkick Leandros for being THE WORST.
If you actually take the events of the first game into proper context Titus is an absolutely _terrible_ captain who often takes completely needless risks and is constantly wound up in incredibly suspicious circumstances. As far as I'm concerned the only reason people like Titus is because he's the player character, and the reverse going for Leandros.
I just saw Secret Level Episode 5. God damn Titus goes HARD. Titus born through bloodshed and known no fear. Kid dragging the dagger to be ultramarine is beautiful.
The Dread, the myth, the legend DreadAnon is here. Also John losses to Amberly Veil because she got slammed by the Emperor's best Commisar Ciahpis Cain.

I read a comment about Leandros going Chaos would be too obvious and instead stated it would be better if Leandros and Titus were to make amends (as best as you could after screwing a guy over for a century of torture and loneliness). But that isn't enough for me, I want Leandros to not only admit that he was wrong for ever doubting Titus' loyalty but to be so damn ashamed of it that he goes to the deathwatch as a blackshield as penance for a hundred years. It will never be as funny as Guilliman personally tearing Leandros a new one for being a walking stereotype about the codex, but I think most of us would accept this.
I may not like Leandros, but I can definitely respect him for his current position. Ever suspicious, ever hated, and ever seperate. He is literally the best person to be a Chaplain, not as a punishment, but as someone who can detect that corruption even if it is in a small amount. He also became a pretty good orator as seen in the game, which makes him inspiring, believe it or not.
Albert Wesker is the kind of guy that would slot perfectly into 40k. An you know he'd look at the Tyranid hive mind an be like "I could be in charage of that"
Considering that Captain Titus had to constantly "prove" himself over and over to people who should've figured out that he's an alright dude, my money is on Captain Titus being a blank.
Another Theory is he's kinda like Rogal Dorn in he's managed to manifest such sheer amounts of "No" that he effectively acts as a blank without giving psychic types the Heebie-jeebies just being near the dude.
If I recall correctly, the chapter master Kyras of the Blood Ravens spent a hundred years or so in a space hulk stuck in the warp but noone suspected when he came back lol
@@floricel_112It still sad but you make a good point. Also to add to his resume, he was in the military around the time of the Korean War. He didn't fight, but he was prepared. 40K Space Marine was my first introduction to the Warhammer franchise in general. I never heard of 40k or fantasy before I played the game, so Titus was my first taste of what a true Space Marine is like. And after learning more of the crazy galaxy that is 40K, I appreciate that he's a more reasonable and down-to-earth fellow compared to other characters.
For those not in the know. Most inquisitors dislike the Space Marines because in most cases the space marines reserve, and regularly exercise, the right to tell the Inquisition to politely get bent. Space marines have a massive amount of independence and the inquisition has to tread carefully when dealing with them.
im getting back into 40k recently and your content is by far my favorite to catch up on what ive missed, would love if you could make a video on the guy from boltgun as well
Yeah, I think there was a mixup there since I distinctly recall the your new squaddies commenting on Titus being a 200-year veteran. So something (literally) isn’t adding up. He presumably got two studs during his 100-year Deathwatch stint, so I think someone got confused somewhere. Edit: Looking at a picture of Titus, the studs do look gold, which would imply 400-years of service. He had two in SM1, and he WAS technically away for 200-years if you include his imprisonment, which means it would add up. It's weird to include his time being tortured, but I guess it still counts. So I think someone in charge of writing the dialogue made a small mistake.
@@cyrusserapheth9555 yeah I'm guessing the two hundred years comment probably is about the primaris being in the setting for only 200 years. But yeah it makes sense for Titus to be 400 years old thinking about it again, 200 as an ultramarine till the end of sm1 100 in the inquisition hands and then almost another hundred in the deathwatch.
Gulliman’s busy running half of an Imperium. Running the Ultramarines is entrusted to Calgar. Plus the position of Captain had already been filled. It would have been dickish to demote an incredibly competent leader like Acheran for an outsider who mysteriously disappeared before reappearing to many of his new primaris battle brothers.
my favorite quote of wesker in space marine 3 is when he says "its wesking time" and then wesks all over the space marines and burns nurgle's garden again
I feel it should be noted that Titus being a loyal and devoted soldier means very little. You can be completely loyal and you can still be corrupted. For all we know Titus could resist a ton of warp energy over the years, then one day he's chilling on Maccragge and suddenly all of the warp energy he would have absorbed comes back and turns him into a warp bomb.
that requires the Chaos Gods to be able to get access to him. Man probably has the personal supervision of a shard of Big E, not to mention his sheer size of balls being on par with that of the average Chad Guardsman, and the fact that he just looks at Chaos and goes "No thanks, I have my faith in the Imperium and humanity."
The whole "only an agent of chaos could withstand that much warp exposure" makes me wonder about grey knights, and how well known they are to space marines. Also, grey knights Titus? Anyone?
The Grey Knights don't recruit from other chapters, they just 'vanish' recruits they like. And the very EXISTENCE of the Grey Knights is a closely-guarded secret outside the upper ranks of the Ordo Malleus. Even space marines get mind-wiped after deploying alongside them and if you're a regular guardsman? Well your reward for surviving a daemonic incursion and seeing the greatest champions of the Emperor in action is a swift execution.

@@Ashraff-vt1kl Halo 2’s Jackal Sniper should (And can) save Isha.

Plus he was still a cool guy who chainsaws demons and Orks in half.
One of my favorite things Titus did was when you first encounter Guardsman, one of them kneels and says "You saved us!"

@@PAINBRINGER Turns out he really wasn't finished with this space marine yet...
@@geonsilberlicht4632 Oh if only.
Unfortunately Titus knew you have to destroy an ork's head to be sure they're dead. But hear me out, Kaptin Bluddflagg shows up instead.
Yeah that sounds about right.
Its a good things the Blood Ravens didn't steal him awa... I mean... Requisition his aid for the chapter... Yes thats it... They did after all appear in the first space marines game... Who knows what else they... Is that a titan in their armory....?
No that's brother gargantuan, he's always been around.
Best friends with Brother Bjorn
40K Space Marine was my first introduction to the Warhammer franchise in general. I never heard of 40k or fantasy before I played the game, so Titus was my first taste of what a true Space Marine is like. And after learning more of the crazy galaxy that is 40K, I appreciate that he's a more reasonable and down-to-earth fellow compared to other characters.
For those not in the know. Most inquisitors dislike the Space Marines because in most cases the space marines reserve, and regularly exercise, the right to tell the Inquisition to politely get bent.
Space marines have a massive amount of independence and the inquisition has to tread carefully when dealing with them.
im getting back into 40k recently and your content is by far my favorite to catch up on what ive missed, would love if you could make a video on the guy from boltgun as well
For some reason, in SM2 they say 1 service stud is 50 years. I cannot find any lore saying 1 gold stud is 50 years so this seems like a mistake
A silver one is 50 years a gold one is 100 years, he has 4 silver ones in two so pancreas is wrong on his age
@@michaelrivera6220 they are gold you dont have more than 1 silver at a time it gets turned gold after 100.years
Yeah, I think there was a mixup there since I distinctly recall the your new squaddies commenting on Titus being a 200-year veteran.
I agree with the space marine 3 campaigns, and thanks for telling me what the service studs were, I guessed over 400 years
I’m upset that Guilliman personally didn’t order Titus to be put back as Captain. That and Malum Caledo isn’t acknowledged
@@Bloxerbotalso titus didn't like being a captain to begin with
Real
If you acknowledge Malum Caedo, you invoke a manifestation of his being.
Titus didn't like being a captain, he just liked killing and taking orders.
All the Ultramarines that people love are the ones censured by the legion. They've gotten way better since Guilleman's return from stasis.
my favorite quote of wesker in space marine 3 is when he says "its wesking time" and then wesks all over the space marines and burns nurgle's garden again
Seeing as Space Marine 2 has Necron Blackstone as a plot thread, I’m all for being them in for the third Game.
When i showed my friends a vid of Captain Titus and he deadass called it "The outcome of the intermingling of a stormtrooper and a blue transformer"
If Capt. Titus is the greatest of the greatest, then Guilliman is the greatest of the greatest of the greatest.
“Rise, son of Guilliman” I swear that was the Emperor himself talking to Titus at the end
His only mistake was saving Leandros from that damn knife ear.
mk, genuinely a good sponsor. an ACTUALLY appealing product that I haven't heard of a thousand times that is relevant to the video subject.
@@Archris17 hence why I like the Wolves more than the GKs, because of the First War of Armageddon.
I love how the first Space Marine game did the whole "Romans being depicted as British" thing with Ultramarines lol
