  • The Bush Center welcomes actor Christopher Jackson, Tony Award-nominated for originating the role of George Washington in Broadway’s Hamilton, for a lively conversation on the phenomenon that has propelled Alexander Hamilton and our Founding Fathers into the pop culture mainstream. Jackson will be joined onstage by filmmaker Alex Horwitz, director of the PBS special Hamilton’s America, and Yale historian and Hamilton expert Joanne Freeman.

It's 2022, what's a girl gotta do to get this Hamilton documentary? Lol. Lin is the most precious gift to the world. I love watching him create. As an artist myself, I'm so in awe of (& inspired by) his talent and dedication. Chris Jackson is insanely talented, that White House performance...insane! Thank you all for putting this on

and we still don't talk about the the fact that anyone, any actor, irregardless of race , can play ANY part. Skin color is irrelevant! And shame on all of these people for not getting that is one of the greatest gifts Lin gave to us.

@@egg7212 it's a great gift that they *don't* talk about that. Because you don't need to say that, you can just watch the play and figure that out yourself.

I'm an American born and raised in Greece. Growing up there and attending Greek schools , I was never familiarized with American history. Hell, the only revolutions I was taught were the Greek and French revolutions. Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to travel to New York (for the first time) 2 years ago and heard about the musical "Hamilton", how amazing it is, how people were going crazy about it and so on. The first song I heard from the musical was "The room where it happens". Personally I'm a massive fan of musicals and I can sing the entire soundtracks of "Chicago", "The sound of music", "Annie", "Rent" and others by heart. When I heard just that one song, I was dumbfounded! Completely stunned! It was nothing like I'd ever head before! It has the style of a classic Broadway musical with a combination of hip hop -WHAT??? After that, "Hamilton" is the next musical on my list which I know by heart and let me just say, Lin- Manuel Miranda is a genius! I'm only hoping that I finally get to see it with the original cast, which I fell in love with and finally stop fantasizing the entire musical in my head. I also want to thank Lin-Manuel Miranda who in his way (without knowing it)taught me a bit of American history which I was unfamiliar with.

Whew, finally found a bit of choreo for "My Shot," less than a day in advance. A group of girls and I are putting on a combined number of "Aaron Burr, Sir"/"My Shot" late tonight and I am lowkey FREAKING OUT. Hopefully we'll be able to convene after dinner and I can tell them about these stage directions........

Be the hardest worker you know.
Be the most well read person that you know.
Be the most open and generous person that you know.
You can not have a career in theater without all of those things.
You can not have a career in theater without understanding how important it is to receive generosity and to be the person who is lending a hand to someone.
The act of theater is about being brave enough to not care about what you look like, but more about the story that you are compelled to tell.
So, practice those things now and good luck discovering.
    I applaud you mr. Jackson.

jettrink50, it is a stretch but download the Hamilton app. It has a lottery that happens everyday for all the shows in every city it’s in currently. You can do up to 2 tickets in each and if you win it is a guaranteed ticket for only $10 (not a typo) in the first two rows (also not a typo)! Miranda wanted to make sure that anyone who wanted to see it could have a chance, regardless of their ability to pay large sums of money. It’s an awesome idea and I know several people who have won the lottery. Unfortunately, I have yet to in the 18 or so months I’ve been doing it.
