I say that one day they should put the director of Hamilton on the ten dollar bill. Or today the government should release a special one time ten dollar bill series with his face on it?
Lin must have been possessed by the spirit of Alexander Hamilton because let's face it only Hamilton would write an award winning musical about himself and then star in it as the main character
I always think we are waiting in the wings for you... You never back down.... Never learn to take your..... TIME and then I start singing all the songs in my head
crying because this is the most of hamilton I'll actually ever see (Edit) it's been almost 5 years. For the 100+ people who said its on disney+, I am well aware, thank you. I watched it. I also watched the bootleg of it years ago and even saw it in person when it toured in my city. There's no need to tell me its on disney plus anymore. I know.
+Elizabeth Musial Give it a little while to wear out the Broadway stage. By the end of the decade there'll be a version of it on PBS and/or one of the major networks. And right around the time they announce the casting for the next Star Wars trilogy some time in the 2020s, this'll be in production for the big screen. Just you wait.
I feel like Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of those people who could sit down with anyone in the world and win them over. He seems so intelligent, charming, driven, yet still humble and kind. Can't wait to get to see this musical. I've listened to the soundtrack at least ten times, and it just keeps getting better.
+Cezariusz 88 I am all for the movement to get a woman onto some folding money- but after seeing this show, I'm totally AGAINST taking Alexander Hamilton off the $10. Perfect timing with this show, Lin-Manuel Miranda!
Alexander Hamilton used to have a very small fandom on tumblr before this musical, and then all of a sudden this musical came out and I spent about three weeks thinking all the posts about Hamilton were just Alexander Hamilton fangirls *facepalm*
Bruna Chaves The Alexander Hamilton fandom is a smaller branch of the U.S. history fandom, which is a smaller branch of the history fandom, apparently. Tumblr's great.
***** First of all, what does everyone have against teenage girls? Teenage girls are fantastic. Second, it's not just an interest in history. These people draw Alex I/Napoleon fanart. They write fanfiction about Hamilton and Burr. That's not your average person's interest in history, those are characteristics of a fandom.
+Alanna R. Thank you for saying that. Teen/young girls are looked upon so negatively and it's awful. Just look at how much power they have! And ironically, it's the "fault" (for the lack of finding a better word at the moment) of people like them - telling their little girls or whoever's to be a certain way, and then they are more or less that way and then they're scoffed at. If anyone here is some petty adult who cares far too much about what young folks find entertaining... get a hobby.
They do a same day lottery for tickets if you'll be in NYC any time soon, they only cost $10 if you are selected! Of course it's a low chance, but can't win if you don't play.... I'm going in July and planning to do the lottery every day I'm there lol. It's online. But on Wed they even do an in person lottery and perform some of the songs while people wait to hear! So I'm def going to that too
Hamilton Lover yeah honestly idk how they raised him to become a genius, but I really think they should write a book cause if I'm gonna have a kid one day he/she better be a bloody genius and I'm gonna need instructions (because unfortunately my parents didn't raise me to be Lin Manuel)

I saw it after he left and it was still absolutely incredible. I was accompanied by someone (an avid theatre-goer) who had seen it with Lin and he said both Lin and Javier were amazing. He said Javier had a bit more humor to his Hamilton, but it definitely worked.
My sister and I scored front row seats to this in a lottery. I couldn't believe it when the announcer said my sister's name. The show was absolutely fantastic. I was completely captivated by this show. It's a must see for everyone.

I'd just like to add something to the conversation here: For as much as people love to focus on the rap/hip hop aspects of Hamilton (and don't get me wrong, the rap is brilliant!! And I'm not someone who's ever liked rap before), I actually think that Lin's greatest brilliance of all is that his musicals never ARE just one style of song, and that he's so dang talented with every single style and knowing exactly how to utilize each one for maximum effect. If the entire Hamilton score was solely the rap, let's be real, even with the brilliant lyrics it would still get tiring after a while. But instead, after 3 rap-heavy songs to start with, you get a great little Revolutionary drinking song reminiscent of Drink With Me from Les Mis. And then you get a Destiny's Child-esque girl power song. Then you get King George III singing a '60s Brit Pop-style breakup song to the colonies. And you also get these truly stunning, very traditional musical theater ballads like That Would Be Enough, Dear Theodosia, and Burn. And excellent R&B, soul, jazz... the score draws on all of these. And very importantly, it does so with incredibly skillful placement. Just one example: Hamilton and Washington have this quite heated moment of tension that's rap-driven and has got a very modern production and a lot of dissonance to it. Then Washington orders Hamilton to return home to his wife Eliza, and it becomes the soft, bright, violin-and-piano-driven ballad wherein he finds out Eliza is pregnant, and it's immensely affecting because you FEEL it, how Hamilton goes in an instant from frustrated and defensive to having all of the fight leave him because he's so overwhelmed with the beautiful knowledge that he is going to have a child. That's just one example out of many of how Lin's incredible dexterity with music as a language for expressing both intellectual/political concepts and the emotions of the characters is what makes him one of the best composers of our generation. So I just think it's a bit reductive how so much of the media tends to focus almost entirely on the rap. It's certainly true that rap/hip hop plays a crucial role in the score, and I wouldn't want that to be minimized, but I also think it's important for people to know that it's the balance *between* so many hugely varied styles, done in such an effective way, that makes this score all the more remarkable :)

Amazing. Whenever I've been able to see Broadway or off-Broadway shows, I repeatedly see the same two over & over: Les Miserablss & Wicked. But this might get me to change up a bit. For the right price.
When this segment aired, I immediately needed to see the show. A year and a half later, I finally got to sit in the audience as history unfolded before me.
Saw Hamilton on Broadway last Tuesday and I'm still reeling from the experience. I laughed, I cried, I danced in my seat... No show has ever made me feel so fired up and passionate. Nor has any show caused so many tears, except perhaps Les Mis. I got to meet the cast and Lin-Manuel after the show on stage and I was too speechless to give them my sincere congratulations on creating something that goes beyond just musical theatre. I will definitely be back. Go see this show!!!!!!!!!
So excited to see this as soon as I can! Alexander Hamilton has always been one of the more interesting men in history to me and to hear that his story is a musical now... Couldn't of asked for anything better
Allison Kay You'd better start working on getting a ticket, cause they're already tough to get, and are apparently only going to get tougher. Or maybe you've already got that taken care of, in which case, good for you! I'm itching to read that biography now.
Lin Manuel is one of my favorite Broadway performers/writers. He always gives 110% and is so talented. I would love to watch him in this. I find it a strange combination to put that kind of music in a musical about Alexander Hamilton, or even that there is a musical about him, but if Lin had any part in it it should be amazing.
The musical is pure genius. It has people of all races, genders, and sexualities all combined together. The writing is absolutely beautiful. How Lin would take one verse from a song at the beginning of the show and put it in through out the show. It's spectacular!
i take ap american history and im so tempted to show my teacher this!! This is like back in the day when adults would try to relate to kids by rapping but this is so much better
This show is at the theater i work at, I've seen many shows, this is hands down one of tbe best ever brought the Broadway, you experience almost every human emotion through this show, very enlightening and entertaining show
Looks like some folks need to brush up on Civics 101: Yes, the federal appeals judge is the child of Puerto Rican parents. But no, Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. They are U.S. citizens and have been since 1917
+Ann Foster they are discussing the news story on here that says Lin-Manuel and his family are Puerto Rican immigrants. That is the issue. Not anything about Alexander Hamilton.
Citizens are supposed to be able to vote. Puerto Ricans are technically citizens, but not in any regards to the rights U.S. citizens are supposed to have. Calling Puerto Ricans citizens is like calling cucumbers fruits. Technically, yes, but in any other sense, no.
Such respect for this guy. My goodness. That thing he said at the end: "The way I throw away a ten dollar bill is different now, because that's my guy. I've been trying to get inside his head for six years." That's dedication.
+blugeagua As long as Hamilton gets to be on another bill, I'm okay with that. Like, I get why Andrew Jackson is a bill, but all I know was that he fought in a war that was already over, and killed some Indians. Replace him instead of Ham the Man.
+testsubject747 Andrew Jackson tried all efforts to prevent there being a Central Reserve Bank, or Bank of the United States, so to say, from existing. The Federal Reserve putting him on the $20 bill is like a postmortem middle finger.
Let's be real, they shouldn't remove him, but they should also put a female on there.. Preferably his wife, Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. She was just as amazing as he was and his story would've never gotten told if it weren't for her.
It's beyond cool - it's what I love most about art expression and the fact that it has created such renewed interest in one of our founding fathers is amazing. Love everything about it :)
I applaud Miranda for choosing the right actors who can enunciate the words clearly for the benefit of global audience. I understood every words even if its rap. Beautifully written play. Kudos.
Teachers and Students should have first priority or at least easier access to see this play. Not just the folks like the Obamas and the Streeps. Tickets as always are too high for the average Joe/Jane's family. Or a special benefactor appears and gives a boat load of tickets on an undisclosed day. Don't let this play be just for the elite. Let the art-form live for the people! Get it!? I'm an educator trying to get students to the theater.
Thank You Mo Roca, & CBS Sunday Morning, for bringing this to us. THANK YOU Hamilton Cast, Production Crew, and Especially THANK YOU Lin-Manuel Miranda bringing a piece of our history to us!!! Hopefully whole versions of this will soon get to our children. And this music and energy will pervade new pieces of history and subjects that our kids will love & learn from!!!
Puerto Ricans Are not immigrants,Puerto Ricans are american citizens. Curious fact that the Americans forget When we make great achievements or When they have to help us, but never forget When we have to go to war and serve in the military or other mandatory things. I'm very proud of this musical and proud of this Puerto Rican who has accomplished something big.
I LOVE THIS!! My husband, after begging, then basically picking up the two-CD set "Hamelton" on my birthday when we were out shopping, bought it for me as a Birthday Gift to me... I LOVE IT!!!!!! Just can't seem to get on board for my LOVE for this. I'm just a 50-year old Grandma, living in central IL and I KNOW I will Never be able to see the Musical.... BUT, OH! I SO wish too.... to see this play out in front of me, to watch this fantastic group of Talented people... TO SEE THIS LIVE, that is my wish!!!! FANTASTIC JOB to Lin-Manuel, I grew up as a child wishing to marry Conway Twitting and now I am listening to your Music and the Magic you have literally created through "Hamilton" I am now reading the biography that inspired you so. Bravo Lin-Manuel, Sir.... Someday those too will tell YOUR story.
It’s interesting to see the public theatre shows a bit and how the props and costumes have evolved as well as lighting. I’d love to see one of those public theatre performances and compare it to the modern day Hamilton.
This is so depressing. I have always been fascinated with Alexander Hamilton and I am very much into Broadway. As a 7th grade Social Studies teacher in NYC, it is hard to motivate my students and this play has provided an avenue to do that for all students of history. I can't even get tickets to the goddamn show and/or can't afford it. Never had issues getting tickets to see any Broadway show. Listening to the soundtrack makes it worse for me. This sucks!!!
"I hold a ten dollar bill differently now because... That's my dude"

"I wanna get my corner of the sky" HE REFERENCED PIPPIN!!!!!!
+khandfmafan I sang that line in the musical
it is so like Peggy to not be here
Peggy is queen.
-and peggy-
Peggy who?
When this segment aired, I immediately needed to see the show. A year and a half later, I finally got to sit in the audience as history unfolded before me.
Was it pretty difficult for you to score tickets at the time?
Too bad Hamilton is getting booted from the $10 bill. He was an important part of the US Treasury system.
shad sluiter literally what.
nah theyre revoking it theyre changing the 20 instead
shad sluiter wait, WHAT? I'm stealing all of my parents' 10 dollar bills, now!
If they're going remove Hamilton's face in it atleast replace it with Lin's
WHAT
Saw Hamilton on Broadway last Tuesday and I'm still reeling from the experience.
Coming Never: "Trump" the rap musical.
hambone31000 No, not exactly.
IMMIGRANTS! -We get the job done!- x'D
Victoria Zandi LOL!! xD
get stephen miller to play vladimir putang
ClueSign starting Putin and Brannon
Went to the matinee today and loved it. I'll take this over 1776 any day. Kind of like Rent meets Les Mis.
I want Lin's shirt "Burr Shot First".. xx
it on amazon
"the way i hold a 10$ bill is different now because im like 'thats my dude.' and ive spent 6 years trying to get in that guys head" -Lin
I really wanna know what Leslie Odom Jr. thought when he saw Lin in that "Burr shot first" T-shirt, tbh.
The musical is pure genius. It has people of all races, genders, and sexualities all combined together. The writing is absolutely beautiful. How Lin would take one verse from a song at the beginning of the show and put it in through out the show. It's spectacular!
the ten dolar is my new favorite dolar...
dollar*
furiousfurrywolf 4624 ditto
i take ap american history and im so tempted to show my teacher this!! This is like back in the day when adults would try to relate to kids by rapping but this is so much better
This show is at the theater i work at, I've seen many shows, this is hands down one of tbe best ever brought the Broadway, you experience almost every human emotion through this show, very enlightening and entertaining show
well this person is an example of innovation and absolute inspiration. congratulations to lin-manuel miranda. hes so fucking talented
Why not make it into a movie?😊
Manuela Gomez Just you wait.
Cordelia May 😂😂
Manuela Gomez can't wait for that
wicked movie
Because you'll never be satisfied.
Looks like some folks need to brush up on Civics 101: Yes, the federal appeals judge is the child of Puerto Rican parents. But no, Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. They are U.S. citizens and have been since 1917
***** 😉😉😉
You realize it has to be historically accurate? It's about Hamilton's life. Not Lin-Manuel's. Hamilton's time was not in the 1900's.
If politicians argued in the form of a rap battle, I might actually like politics.
But can you imagine Donald Trump rapping?
I am the D-o-n-a-l-d Trump
+Yumi.Doodles Yes please
I could watch this 1,000 times. Adore Lin!!
Hamilton is the best musical I have ever seen!
I love him, he's a genius
Such respect for this guy. My goodness. That thing he said at the end: "The way I throw away a ten dollar bill is different now, because that's my guy. I've been trying to get inside his head for six years."
That's dedication.
and they wanted to replace this guy on the $10 bill smh
So? There's nothing wrong with that. A little change from the same thing for years is a good thing.
The Federal Reserve putting him on the $20 bill is like a postmortem middle finger.
yes, pls replace andrew jackson alreadyyyy
Let's be real, they shouldn't remove him, but they should also put a female on there.. Preferably his wife, Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. She was just as amazing as he was and his story would've never gotten told if it weren't for her.
It's beyond cool - it's what I love most about art expression and the fact that it has created such renewed interest in one of our founding fathers is amazing. Love everything about it :)
Such a great idea to combine hip hop music with academia! More of this should be done! I'd love to see this if I could!
I applaud Miranda for choosing the right actors who can enunciate the words clearly for the benefit of global audience. I understood every words even if its rap. Beautifully written play. Kudos.
Imagine writing a musical then giving yourself the main part like that’s so slay
We've been trying since the Public. Will be patient! I hope you are an authority on this! I appreciate the response. Good looking out!
+Pat Poole Parrilla Just went to see this at my school with a huge discount. It was great
Give 'em a break. A profitable musical comes around about once every decade.
who else thinks Hamilton should be a movie??
OH MY GOD YES
well it is
Lin: Makes a musical about Alexander Hamilton
Also Lin: Makes himself the main character of the play
Lin Manuel is such a genius songwriter-producer, creativity at it highest form.
Honestly the great love story was with John fucking laurens
TRUE
Alexina Lockie YOU RIGHT
YEAAAAAH BOYYYYY
Alexina Lockie IKR
ew
Puerto Ricans Are not immigrants,Puerto Ricans are american citizens. Curious fact that the Americans forget When we make great achievements or When they have to help us, but never forget When we have to go to war and serve in the military or other mandatory things. I'm very proud of this musical and proud of this Puerto Rican who has accomplished something big.
That waistcoat flip tho
Emma The Mermaid IKR
Emma & K *tailcoat lol
This fall the musical goes on tour. It will be in Chicago, Sept 27th.
+Keisha Proctor they go on tour in September ??? YES I HAVE TIME TO SEE IT BEFORE THEY GO TO THE WEST !!!!
+Keisha Proctor I meant September 2017
+Jake English You can purchase tickets now @ BroadwayinChicago.com. My husband's taking me for my birthday! 😃
Surreal to come back and watch this the day after Hamilton premieres as a 'movie'.
It’s interesting to see the public theatre shows a bit and how the props and costumes have evolved as well as lighting. I’d love to see one of those public theatre performances and compare it to the modern day Hamilton.
I love when Hamilton and Lafeyette high-five
Funny thing is I hated history class before Hamilton, now I love history class.
it's amazing to see how the costume pieces first looked like, and compare them to the ones we see today in newer shows!
TOO WONDERFUL! Very excited about this... Never have been so excited about a play...the format...the HISTORY.. The GIFTED PERFORMERS...!!
CONGRATS ON YOUR GRAMMY!!!!😄😄😄🙏🙏👏👏👏👍👍👍💯💯💯
I remember first watching this and being like???? Now I'm obsessed lmao
+Otaku girl yessss I would pass every history test
I guess one could say this musical leaves me 'Satisfied'.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's enthusiasm gives me inspiration for everything in life.
he's gets so passionate when he talks about Hamilton and it's adorable
omg miranda reminds me of brendon urie wth
omg yesd
Yaaaasss I commented the same thing on another Lin video. I think because they're both excitable dorks with dark hair maybe??
They both have dark hair, big foreheads and Brendon grows out his facial hair sometimes
+PHIL LESTER, YOU'RE A GENIUS! omg your username
Maddie Park u r awesome
This is so depressing.
I have always been fascinated with Alexander Hamilton and I am very much into Broadway.
As a 7th grade Social Studies teacher in NYC, it is hard to motivate my students and this play has provided an avenue to do that for all students of history.
I can't even get tickets to the goddamn show and/or can't afford it. Never had issues getting tickets to see any Broadway show.
Listening to the soundtrack makes it worse for me.
This sucks!!!
Write the producers?
So, can't get tickets. Got Chernow's book. Loved it! Worth it Lin-Manuel Miranda!
My class sang My Shot for our school concert. Our faces were priceless when we found out
Of what ?
Musical genius at it’s finest!! Well done, Mr. Miranda! Write on!!
