I think it is a stretch to say Lin isn't a great actor, maybe not the greatest singer, but his acting I felt everything he felt through his face. He blew me away.
I agree but compared to Lesley unfortunately Lin s vocals defiantly in the same league.
@@kimcornelissen1529 yeah no one can compare to leslie though tbh, he's on another level and definitely my fav from the original cast
He *blew us all away*
@@AlexnadroEHLadies, I’m looking for a Mr. George Eacker. Made a speech last week, our 4th of July speaker
The man is an absolute GENIUS. I'd love to meet him.
Sadly Alexander Hamilton is not taught in most schools. Every other founding father is taught about. And I know this first hand . When history was taught to me in the 90's he was never discussed my two oldest children also was not taught about Hamilton. My youngest who is 14 and just finished 8th grade had watched Hamilton and it just so happened that the 8th grade classes had history and were covering the founding fathers but for some reason the two history teachers left Hamilton out. The 8th grade classes had to do a project on the Founding Fathers and were able to pick who they wanted to do their project on. My child was the only one that chose Hamilton. She spent many hours reading history books ECT... The teacher asked why did you choose Hamilton when we never discussed him. My child's reply was this. " That's exactly the reason why I chose Hamilton he was instrumental in building America and deserves to be remembered just as much as the other founding fathers. " She got a 100 on her project
that’s amazing! I really wish he was talked about more :(
And then this arrived and the whole world knows about 1 founding father. Alexander Hamilton.
Worldwide, American history isn't taught, this masterpiece of a musical made the whole world care about his story (thanks Eliza!)
@@cinmiscashea We were taught about the founding fathers however we were only taught about the founding fathers they favored
I taught US and world history at my school, and I did teach the students about Alexander Hamilton. The one thing that I didn’t know until I read the book and saw the show was that his wife was the one who kept all the journals. What we know today about George Washington and the revolutionary war was because of her. I didn’t even realize that she started the orphanages. So, there’s so much history to teach that it would actually take years and years to discuss it all. But I do think people should know about him.
“Every other Founding Fathers Story gets told. Every other Founding Father gets to grow old”
I can't think Disney enough for for showing us this play on their platform I must watch it at least twice a week
If you get chance to see it live you must it’s traveling now
Lin is legendary and brings pride to NY& Puerto Ricans everywhere. He is talented beyond his years and I only wish I discovered his talent sooner. We are so lucky to experience his art real time. I hope somewhere in some woman’s belly there is a child that will bring this level of art to us again. We desperately need more people like Lin. I can’t say anymore . Thank you Lin so much contribution & God bless the true artists of the future

4:01 "He well may become a director"
1yr later I watch Tick Tick Boom directed by him
I finally had the chance to see Hamilton and it was a true beauty! One of the greatest shows I've ever have and ever will see!
I just saw Hamilton last night. I was blown away, no pun intended. It is so masterfully put together. It's amazing how reading a biography while on vacation led him to put all of this together. Historically, I learned a lot. I had no idea Hamilton was the first politician to be publicly outted for misdeeds. I've since read the letters his mistress and her conniving husband sent Hamilton. Lyrically it's impressive how Lin put so much into every verse to create such dimensional portrayals of historical figures.
I think Lin Manuel Miranda it a true blessing to this world! In a time where art isn't about expressing yorself and the art itself anymore but just comercials and money and fame it's very rare to find true artists who rlly create masterpieces and not just publish smth for the money and don't even rlly spend time and love in what they do. the quality of what we call art nowerdays is much lover than 100 years ago and finding someone who stil creates true art and who has true talent is rare. so thank you Lin Manuel Miranda for doing what you're doing and showing that there's still true talent in this world.
I love this musical. Now im interested in watching other broadway shows
Please do! It's an incredible medium and people often underestimate it
One of my favorites is Fiddler on the Roof
Alexander Could have become president. A popular misconception is that because he was born in the British West Indies, Hamilton could not legally have become president. That’s not the case. The Constitution states that to become president, a person must be either a natural-born citizen or a citizen of the United States at the time of the Constitution’s adoption, which Hamilton certainly was. In fact, the first seven U.S. presidents were born British citizens. Martin Van Buren, born in 1782, was the first to be born an American citizen.
Honestly, I'm not surprised: Hamilton was one of the three who wrote the constitution, there was no way he wouldn't leave himself a little loophole to become president lol
Could have but not permitted… because he was not born withing the States
@avph
What are you talking about? Everyone born in the United States before the American Revolution was British. America was a British owned land. The point of having to be a natural citizen is that you don't want people with loyalty to a foreign country being Present and selling America out to that country. Back then they didn't want a British sympathizer becoming President and giving America back to Britain. You want your leader to have one loyalty to their people.
@@appaloosa42 not sure what your point is
Constitution allowed people to run for president if they were "citizen of the US at the time of the constitution's adoption" because nobody wouldve been a "natural-born citizen" back then
and van buren is a dutch name even lol
One of those critics is so ungracious and resentful of the genius of the creatives behind this masterpiece - all the reasons critics get a bad name. Ugh.
He is an actual musical genius. 24:10 - 27:05 is INSANE.
The way his dad looks at him 🥹
I just saw Hamilton last night. It was awesome. I wanted to see how a kid on "Electric Company" could make it to Broadway! Wow!
This video made me listen to In The Heights, then watch the movie & I love it!!
Paterson, NJ is founded by Alexander Hamilton. There’s a statue of him by The Paterson Greatfalls
If Hamilton were alive I think he’d love it.
13:46. It's strange this gentleman seems unaware of Miranda's views on Hamilton. They were patently clear in his presentation of the first rap of the still-in-creation-process musical at the White House, years before the work's premiere. He said, "I'm working on a concept album on the life of someone I think embodies hip-hop: Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton." And he followed explaining how Hamilton had arrived to be a Founding Father and have fights with everyone, on the power of his writing, how the power of words can change the world.
The video is on UA-cam in the channel of Obama's White House; it has millions of views. Easy to find: just look for "Hamilton White House."
18:45. And, *of course,* the White House event is mentioned.
And later, Miranda explains it again. How is it that someone is still wondering *why* he chose Hamilton as a subject? The ten dollar founding father without a father embodies hip-hop!
I have tickets for Hamilton Australia in October 2024, I can't wait!.
I'm hoping to see it in the Londoner West End this fall
how was it?
Nice new channel being born, this one!

Do you know what Lin did next? ENCANTO!!!!
Tick tick boom?
And Moana
Actually, he left Hamilton to do Mary Poppins Returns!

There's nothing like summer in the city...
45:36 they cut it but he did write a third rap battle about slavery and how he did not have the political power to fight against slavery, so he left it
This is great doco but i would love it if you put subtitles on your videos so Hard of hearing people can enjoy it as well
I know this is a year later, but IF you aren't aware you can turn on the closed captions on every video. It's at the top right :)
@@sassybdiy7565 those are really bad though.
@weexuele9383 listen, something is better then nothing UNTIL they get it right. I'm just offering a suggestion
Hamilton is the musical version of a gateway drug.
Strangely enough, Hamilton technically could have been president. I forgot where it's said; it may have been in the Declaration of Independence. But during the time America was formed, there was a loophole where even if you weren't born there, you could still run for president. Which I guess makes sense since most people who lived in the colonies weren't born there but were born in Britain. Take George Washington, for example. He wasn't born in the colonies; he was born in Britain and served as a lieutenant colonel for the British during the French Indian War, yet he still became the first president of the U.S.
Love this guy!
The thing is my nine year old knows more about the revolutionary war than probably her teachers
I vehemently disagree…Lin Manuel is an excellent actor. Especially in the Disney plus recording
The only founding fathers I've ever been taught about in American Public school were Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Continuing that, we were only ever taught they amazing things that they did. Not to say the bad things should be looked at MORE than the accomplishments, but they should still be included; it shows that these people weren't god-like figures, they were people too.
I saw this musical twice it great

The arrogance of the man speaking at the end 1:11:52 you wonder what he can do without hiphop, if he were writing a show for you you’d want something different. Way to center yourself in the universe buddy🙄🙄
32:11 yes, Hamilton could be elected as President because they made an exception of anyone in the country during the founding could become President of the US
I’m so late to the game and all the videos and people talking have NO idea he would write Encanto and it will be absolutely incredible and has nothing to do with hip hop
Cameron Macintosh did not write Les Miserables.
One of the songs that I am disappointed in them cutting was “Congratulations” the song where Engelica Sylner comes back from London after he wrote the affair in pamphlets it was more then just “I’m not here for you”
Oh, Jesus. It is Angelica Schuyler.
@@MorusRubra it is a great song, but it was a correct decision for pacing reasons.
31:41, what scene is that in the musical??
Where Hamilton is pointing the gun? That’s the duel with Aaron Burr.
The World was Wide Enough
I am some of those who know stuff out of Hamilton
He was a FF I was given knowledge about s a child by my mother, resulting in revulsion toward Burr… later truly a traitor.
Why are only some of the cast mic'ed?
Everyone is mic’ed. The ones with shaved hair have visible ear mics. Those who have hair have the mic in their hair. Look closely and you will see.
Leslie Odom made me like Burr better than I liked Hamilton.
If they make this into a movie, they should give it a modern age twist, like Romeo+Juliet! And I got a good idea for the cast!
Alexander Hamilton: Anthony Ramos
Aaron Burr: Brandon Victor Dixon
Eliza Hamilton: Melissa Barrera
Angelica Schuyler: Alicia Keys
George Washington: Christopher Jackson (for sentimental reasons), or Jamie Foxx
Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson: Donald Glover
Hercules Mulligan/James Madison: The Rock
John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton: Gregory Diaz IV
Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds: Victoria Justice
King George III: Hugh Jackman
With Lin Manuel Miranda cameo as either Charles Lee or James Reynolds
I wish "Hamilton" was on Netflix...
The Hero isn't quite the hero.
wow
Why are they sitting so uncomfortably close ??? 😳
Lin Manuel = good actor; but he should have delegated the singing to others
I love that the cast is people of color but that has nothing to do with the story
Did this doc not fact check? Yes, Hamilton could have been president because he was a citizen at the time of the adoption of the constitution. This world…JFC
Stop with the hip hop tagging please it’s spoken word ie Poetry take away the beat. When they the majority say hip hop it’s really derogatory. I hate it 😡 Hamilton is insanely brilliant Esau is the biggest hater
0"0"0"0"0"0”0" de de
Great composer, lyricist, but a terrible historian.
What history did he get wrong?
@@robertewalt7789 theres a couple things he had to change or left out for the story. 1. Hamilton actually was a pretty well known poet when he was a kid, the hurricane wasn't the first time he wrote. 2. Alex and Eliza knew eachother before the winter ball happened. 3. Laurens wasn't at the wedding, he was in jail at the time I believe. 4. Lairens was in New York at the time of the Yorktown battle, Lin changed it to cut back some time explaining the change. Phillips duel actually lasted a while (about 3 minutes) before George shot him.
Yes he changed things about history, but nothing was to egregious that I've found so far.
I was invited to go to see this. Luckily, I was ill.
What you missed out. Go see it. You don’t get points for not seeing a masterpiece Pulitzer Prize nominated sometimes the masses are right. I am a history buff and I loved it. Also the fact the cast are people of color it doesn’t change the story.
This is a great show, but lin manuel seems so unauthentic and so full of himself it ruins it a bit.
He isn’t like that he Just Talks that way
I can see how you’d feel this, but don’t forget that with the thousands of interviews where he’s asked the same questions. Because of having to repeat himself, he begins to sound practiced and stale.
Hola 👋😃👌amigo Jesús 🙏😇💋💖
