    Kyle, you knocked it out of the park! This is a show-quality build! The upswept fishtails are1960s/early 1970s period perfect. I would have gone with a front brake.

      @kylevara  Рік тому +2

      Thanks Walter! A front brake would have been nice, on the next one I'm going to see if I can find one of the early drum style front brakes.

    Kyle, I like what you built. Very cool. I ride an ‘83 shovel rigid that I built in 2013. It’s my favorite. You’ll love camping and riding your scoot. You’ll find people will ask all kinds of questions. Have fun and ride safe.

    Nice looking build. You got skills & an eye. 2 things tho. One; Brakes none on the front & a back brake on the edge of lock up? Need a very controlable back brake. Bikes, esp, downhill prone to lock up anyway. Im old enough to remember the spool front/no brake... but never a fan. Most braking comes from front, esp street bikes. Two exhaust; Harleys run hot anywsy & exhaust always. That pipe will cook ur backside! And forget about passengers... leg that is that close to exhaust, Wont work out. Great simple clean build tho. Much appreciated. Love minimalist look! Liked listening to your approach & sources. Thx

    Oh yeah The aftermarket oil tanks do not fit. Very nice bike looks great. Remember to ride it like it has no brakes. I was riding around in the 70s and they were very good times. We’ve gone a full 180° on the safety thing and people are just not as interesting or wild as they used to be. Pretty much we used to just ride places to get beer and party 😅

    We didn't have fake bikers in the old days. When l rode my little Honda with the Bikers l rode in the back. I loved the smell of Harley oil and the sound the bikes made. I was what they called a hang around. I went on the rides,parties, and swap meets. Because I wasn't a member of any club l could go to all the parties. In highschool students took the bus. Because I was a teachers aid l parked in the teachers parking lot. Nobody said boo about it. There's a picture of me in the year book in my leather jacket reading a bike mag and you can see the 2 page Honda ad. People still remember me from the biker rodeos. They were real bikers. They drank. They fought. The partys were memorable. Guys built their own custom bikes and made their own custom parts. They knew every nut and bolt on their bikes. If you were a biker with long hair and tattoos HD would not sell you parts. I would go to the Harley shop with a list of parts and I would tell them it was for my uncle's bike. Good times.

    That is so incredibly clean and seemingly well thought through, put together and gorgeous. In fact, as we said back in the 70s, it is, indeed, righteous! Here’s wishing that you would’ve shown it on asphalt with a little taste of some thumping comin’ out of them pipes and some riding, as well. But I ain’t greedy 😎

    Killer build and video man! Your cb builds and vids helped me finish my 750! And now I’ve got my dads old shovel I’m gonna tear into soon! Only problem is I have no clue what model or year it is😂 can barely read what’s on the neck, and the engine vin doesn’t match nor does the final letter of it make sense lol. Needless to say will definitely be an interesting and fun one! He’ll definitely be smiling from above when I figure it out 🤘

    Hi there kyle.
    I've been around bikes for the last 15 years, mostly painting them. But i started the fabrication part about two years ago. Not a old timer but not that new in the scene. Just wanna say, cool video and build. Good taste makes all the diference on the finish product. And you sure have it. Classy and clean. Congrats. Subscribing now. Cant wait to see the metric bikes. Love the HD but as you said it, they f@# expensive. Keep 'em good videos coming.
    Cheers from Brazil.
    Ps: make the tail light video .
    Ps2: Be careful with those brakes and ride safe.

    Really beautiful. Love the seat. How bad it is on your back without any kind of spring?

    • @kylevara
      @kylevara  9 місяців тому

      It's not bad but springs under the seat would be nice. Even the little amount that the springs dampen take out some of the shock if you hit a hole or ride down bad roads. Luckily the streets around where I live aren't bad.
