    Ive had a 2013 mazda 3 since it was new… 175k miles later its still going strong. Ive had to replace a few suspension parts because there was road work going on and i hit a paved road at around 45 mph, so thats on me. Car has been exceptionally reliable and utilitarian. After doing a ton of research, i think im just going to buy another new mazda 3 soon

      He worked really hard in highschool, including a part time job. Got a full ride scholarship to college. So I bought him a low mile used but super duper nice car thinking it would serve him well for 12 or 15 years.
      It was a good plan - lol.
      I would NOT have done it if I realized he was going to move to Germany for a few years. And, who knows, maybe he’ll decide to stay, thus abandoning me completely 🥹

    My family has a 2018 Mazda 3 as our only car (there is four of us) and we have road tripped it with enough things for a week long vacation and have had no issues with the space, granted, the tallest one of us is 1.7 m (around 5’7”), so you wouldn’t expect legroom to be an issue. We are currently looking into upgrading to a 2024/25 Mazda 3 as we really like how the car drives and really don’t need a bigger car.

      Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Glad to see folks with the right sized car. Most folks drive around more car than they need. The key is how tall the front seat passengers are. As you state they can leave some leg room for the rear. Don’t overlook the CX-30 if you do upgrade. I think it could be perfect for your situation. Thanks again and happy motoring.

      I just bought the same car as a hatchback about 3 weeks ago now and I’m loving it as well. For the price point it’s at it feels like a great deal compared to other cars in it’s class. I’m at like 1,300 miles. One thing I’ve noticed and I don’t know about you but the rpms will go up slightly when I release the break and my old car doesn’t do that. I’m assuming it’s normal I just don’t know what it is

      Hey, im thinking of getting the same car over corolla hybrid top trim which comes down at similar price where mazda is like 1k$ more. So i have few questions
      What mpg are you getting as there is no fwd with your trim?
      How’s the suspension?
      Do you think it’s a better alternative than a corolla hybrid?

    • @Noyning1994
      @Noyning1994 11 місяців тому +1

      I commute to work to downtown which hurts my MPG but in total my average is roughly 30mpg. I drive faster with my car and more aggressive than conservative. I actually had a 2011 corolla before trading in and if it's the same size I like my Mazda more. However, this car has a rear torsion beam which makes the car feel the road and bumpier. To me you feel like you're driving a race car more than an NPC car. The wheel is heavier, and you feel more Insync with the car in my opinion. If you care more about MPG the corolla hybrid has what a 52 mpg? Me personally, I like Mazda's color pattern of ploy metal grey and red velvet interior, the exterior frame looks more unique than the corolla, and just tech and other things as well over the corolla. To me it comes down to do you care about feeling all the bumps in the road, mpg, pricing, and looks. Also, the Mazda dealership I worked with only is open Monday-Friday so getting it serviced will be more of a pain. Thats something I didn't put into consideration. @@saikumar880120

      @klrbeech7054 4 місяці тому

      I just bought the Carbon AWD also. Does your car have speakers in the rear? Do you also feel the factory tires kind of suck? And how is the A/C working? I traded in a CX-30 for it, as I missed my old 3. And I like the lower riding feel. But it feels as if I'm missing something compared to the CX-30. At least my new 3 was made in Japan compared to Mexico.
      I will say I enjoy driving it more than the cx, but I'm not in love with it. I feel like I enjoyed my 2016 3 more.

  • @andrereal5102
    @andrereal5102 Місяць тому +4

    I got mine for $23.1K, and for this price, it offered the best combination of looks, features, and powertrain. This trim is beautiful and packed with features that other brands don’t offer.
    The driving position is excellent, and the keyless entry system is a great convenience. The car feels like a well-balanced racing car, with a quiet engine that still delivers a sporty sound when needed.
    There are a few downsides-like the gas pedal response in regular mode, which feels a bit delayed. Because of this, I prefer driving in sport mode. While the 1st and 2nd gears are a bit slow and require building RPM, once you get past the 2nd gear, the acceleration is impressive-you can feel the full horsepower. Engine braking in sport mode is also fantastic and adds to the driving experience.
    The steering wheel design is excellent, offering a premium feel and comfort. The dashboard is another highlight-it’s sleek, modern, and makes all controls and displays easy to see.
    Overall, this car is a joy to drive and offers features and performance that stand out in its class.

    I have a 2019 Premium manual. 71000 miles of nothing but scheduled maintenance. My polymetal paint has a few hood chips I’ve touched up, but otherwise looks almost brand new. I do wash and take care of it regularly. Interior red leather is in great shape. Some small rattles going over bumps, particularly when the weather is cold. Otherwise, very quiet. Of course with the excellent Bose system, I never hear the rattles. Agree that with the exception of uneven bumps, you would never know that you have rear beam suspension. Stick is smooth and clutch has nice feel. 32 cumulative mpgs in 60 suburban/ 40 highway.
    This car has been and continues to be a pleasure to drive.

      I’ve been driving manuals for 52 years. It is by no means super light. Respectfully,I don’t know what you’re comparing it to, but while a test drive is essential for anyone, considering the car, I think you’ll read on it is inaccurate.

    I own a 2009 Mazda 3 that I purchased new that now has 132000 miles on it and I get fuel induction cleaning every 25000 miles. The stuff that the mechanics use is very strong and really helps the car run great. I can tell the performance difference every time. Worth the money. some type of long oil change intervals or low miles for their age. But we did it anyway as the cost was kind of reasonable. Will report out during the next update video. All the best and thanks for the nice informative comment.

    Just bought a 2024 Mazda 3 Sedan in the Select Sport trim. I came from a 2016 Mazda Miata Sport so as far as Im concerned the interior is cavernous, the stock radio is great, and the Infotainment system is fantastic compared to what I had. Its an entirely different world in the Mazda 3 when compared to the Miata. After nearly 8 years with the Miata and all of the fun, excitement, and adventures I had with the car it was time to get something a bit more practical as my every day car as well as the final new car before retirement in four years. Im rather happy with my choice. To make things even better I was able to get the same Ceramic Metallic paint scheme I had on the Miata. Its absolutely beautiful on both cars.

    I think you’re spot on about the spacing. I recently purchased a Mazda CX 5 Carbon Edition during summer because I loved the interior and spacing. Initially, I always wanted to get a Mazda 6 but were discontinued and only had Mazda 3s. While I did like them, the spacing wasn’t to my liking and went with the CX 5. The 3s are still great cars though.

    This latest 30K miles update feels a little repetitious to prior episodes. But that is a good thing in that the 3 has proven to be as enjoyable today as when it left the show room. Solid with no issues, it continues to delivery fairly good fuel economy and has proven comfortable for longer drives. Six years into this current generation, the 3 remains competitive, but sales continue to decline with the CX-30 definitely capturing potential 3 buyers. Shoot all your questions and comments below!

    • @jamesrather1510
      @jamesrather1510 Рік тому +1

      Thing is, I've got a CX-30 and it is a 3. That's really all it is - they called it a CX for marketing purposes, as it's easy to market a crossover anything these days, but it's just a raised 3 and drives like it.I count it as a win for the 3 platform. And as much as I like the hatch (and I really like it, it's amazing) that C pillar and dark, vault-like rear seating area on the hatch was a nonstarter for driving with a kid in the back. At least that's not an issue on the sedan.

      @teebes2009 almost 26, I just don't value fun as much in car as I do fuel economy and comfort. It's still a factor, but as I get older, a car becomes more of an appliance and less of an extension of my self expression.

    About a week ago I traded in my 16' Kia Forte for a 23' Mazda3 hatchback and so far have zero complaints. I did my research and wanted to avoid anything with a CVT transmission and found this vehicle with only about 17K miles on it. I also opted to stay away from any turbo or AWD (I live in Florida so have no need for any of that...) and just stick with the basic FWD since I want to have this car for as long as possible. The only bad thing I've really heard about the Mazdas are their 'soft' paint jobs and would really like to know what products could be recommended so I can keep the exterior looking as good as it does now.

I did the chrome delete around the windows (carbon fiber wrap) and I'm also thinking doing the chrome delete on the front fascia. I also updates the interior dome lighting. It made a difference in my eyes but it may not be for everyone.

    The base CX-30 Select trim is only $825 more, so most would rather pay that extra to get more legroom and more cargo space than the sedan and more legroom than the Hatch. The Corolla is the only sedan with less legroom than the Mazda3 that sells over 200K units per year and those sales are slowly declining for the bigger and slightly more expensive Corolla Cross.
    With an EV equivalent you'll be able to get Mazda3 sized identical exterior but with Mazda CX-30 cargo space and legroom because of drivetrain space savings.

      Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Definitely the better car for space and trunk storage plus they are pretty well optioned for the price. The turbo 4, I think it’s the 1.4, is fairly pleasant and torquey. We actually owned a 2019 Jetta prior to taking advantage of Covid price craziness to get into a GLI. Our 2019 had the infamous transmission rattle that VW fought and fought us over. I think they have resolved this via a class action law suit. It never affected drivability but did not sound great for long term longevity. VW has quietly improved the Jetta to where it is a real player in the affordable car arena. Me being single and with my good friends a while out in each direction, the only use of the back seats will be for groceries, work stuff, my dog, and other small day to day items. I wouldn't mind the space at all and although I'm in the 6ft range, I wouldn't mind it since I'm pretty slim and really flexible for many hours straight.
    I'm upgrading from dailying a 2 door "sports" car for years so it actually looks like a lot of extra space that no one but me would experience. Well, me and my dog that is and if someone needs an emergency pickup.
    The piano black really wouldn't bother me and it fits the car's theme really well. Any other color or shade wouldn't give that nice, calm, and rich feel as good when applied to this model.
    For the speakers, I originally had 4 in my car ( 2 in the back and 1 on each door resulting in 4 all together) so, when I read that it has 12 speakers, I could only count 2 by the rear glass, 1 for each door, and 2 by the front glass. So that's 8 speakers I could think are located for a full surround sound experience, but there are 4 more left where I don't know. I kinda don't wanna know so it'll be a good and funny experience when I start to hear music from places I didn't expect.
    And of course being from a car enthusiast family, I'll be prepared for a lot but this will be my first car past 2005. There's a lot I'll have to get used to but i like the challenge and learning curve.

    Tbh when I went into the showroom I had the exact opposite experience with the infotainment. I found it way more intuative than most other offerings, even though they used a touch screen. Sure your first instinct is to touch it, but the moment you realise its not a touch screen the wheel and buttons do a good job and the layout is pretty easy I feel.

    I have a 2024 Mazda 3 Hatch with the non-turbo. There are a couple things it does that annoys me. The climate control will either blow too cold in the summer or too hot in the winter. I know it is normal for the fan to blow on high when one gets in the car, but as the temperature inside the car stabilizes, I would expect the fan speed to go down and the temperature to adjust accordingly but my car doesn't do this and I have to manually turn down the fan and adjust the temp.
    Another annoyance is the transmission. Occasionally, when I press the gas because I am moving from a stop (I have an automatic), the car will hesitate (it almost feels like the car is going to stall) for a split second, then move.
    Overall, though, I like the car. The non-turbo engine has plenty of power and the car (I have the Preferred model) has all the features that I want. Just curious if anyone else hear has had these issues.

In contrast the 2024 Mazda 3 Carbon only comes in AWD standard now WITHOUT the Bose. But you do get the wireless charging standard instead. I have a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta SE 1.8L TSI with 126,600+ miles on it currently and love it! It’s a great car and I was thinking about getting either a Mazda 3 sedan turbo or CX-5 Turbo or look into some BMWs within my budget. Do you feel like the Mazda is better than a BMW? Or would I enjoy a BMW (2, 3 or 4 series) more? Not sure myself since they both have features and power that I would like so I would have to make that decision in the next year or two once I’m ready to upgrade my car again. My first car was a 2000 Chevy Impala LS 3.8L and it was torquey but old, rusted underneath, and needed repairs that I didn’t think were worth fixing compared to its low value.

    • @BeyondTheTestDrive
      @BeyondTheTestDrive  7 місяців тому

      Awesome question. Thanks for watching. 🤔. I am going to assume your budget is in the mid to upper 30s so new Mazdas versus used BMWs. Let just skip the 228 Grand Coupe. I think it’s got a bad rap as far as overall reviews and it’s not a bad driving car, it’s just the exterior styling and general vibe is just not what you are getting a BMW for. So for shear driving joy (space, quietness, responsiveness, RWD handling, luxury vibe) I really like the 2-3 year old 330i. It is a little stodgy but just hard to beat. I do think the 3 overall is more fun to drive tossable, and youthful. And the AWD is standard and excellent. Good buys on used 330s are out there but an extended warranty is a necessity so that will add to the costs. So dollars being equal I would choose between the 3 sedan and 330i and consider the higher maintenance and insurance the BMW would bring. An equivalent 4 is going to be more money. If you are really considering a small SUV then it’s the CX-5 all the way. Not much BMW wise in that budget range that’s worth recommending. Also consider the CX-50. And since you mention an SUV and sedans together a great fit could be the CX-30 Turbo. Way more practical than the sedan and sits a smidge higher. And it is quite the endearing vehicle. My only issue is that you need a darker colors to go with the tons of cladding and the small fuel tank is frustrating. Fuel wise the 330i will also beat the 3 and cx-30 but premium is required. For daily driving and worry free fun I really like the Mazda turbos. If long range travel and a more mature look and luxury and quiet feel then a used 330 is a good go to. Hope this helps. Now in a year or two there could be some new offerings from Mazda and today’s 2024 BMWs will be coming off lease. And another thing to consider if you are financing is new versus used car interest rates. That can be a dramatic difference.

    I think the reason these don't sell is the price. They top out at 38k with destination for the turbo premium plus models, which is what dealers like to stuff on their lots. People will look at a Civic, which has more space and much better tech, and put up with the worse styling and worse interior because the Civic tops out at like 33k with destination for a Touring/Sport Touring Hatch. And even if you get a Carbon, or another model that is around 33k, Honda has the bigger, better-known brand and will have, again, better tech and way more space. The Civic also gets WAY better gas mileage. So the choice for the average joe is fairly obvious.

      Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. You make some great points. One thing to keep in mind is that all Mazda models have the two pricing levels, non turbo and turbo. The non-turbo competes directly with the Civic 1.5 turbo as horsepower and torque are similar as is pricing with similar equipment. The Civic is very good to drive and wins on space and fuel economy at the same price point. Overall driving fun and refinement goes to the 3 with its traditional six speed transmission and better interior. The larger Honda dealer network also contributes to the sales disparity. Mazda also robs 3 sales with its CX-30. Thanks again and happy motoring.

    Mazda 3 2.0 litre or Mitsubishi ASX GSR - which is better?

    • @BeyondTheTestDrive

      They do not sell the Mitsubishi here in North America so maybe someone else can chime in. I think the Mitsubishi is a small crossover? If so then comparable more to the CX-30? Do they sell that where you live? Thanks for watching and for the question.

      @@BeyondTheTestDrive Thanks, yes they sell both the CX30 and Mitsubishi ASX in Australia. The ASX is looked upon as ancient in comparison to most other small SUVs. The 2.4 ASX GSR is about $34k on road. The base CX30 is $37k on road. I'm not specifically after an SUV, so the Mazda 3 is probably the best value and good quality.

      @BeyondTheTestDrive  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching and the question. I am not familiar with your local market nor would I offer any advice on whether that is a good deal or not. 2024s run around 30k but I have not checked on availability or if they are selling below that. At first blush I would say that seems reasonable but used car prices are also currently dropping quickly. Also look at financing as new car versus used car financing can be cheaper. The 30k does have some bumper to bumper warranty left. Seems like alot of miles for a 2023 so maybe it was all highway? Just make sure it wasn’t an Uber or rental.

    At base trim, the Corolla just has more. The mpg's can get close to hybrid with the gas only model. It gets safety sense 3.0 with adaptive cruise and lane tracing. 2.0 liter duel injection has no carbon build up or blow by issues. Direct shift cvt has a true mechanical first gear that takes the stress off the unit. It's also smaller and lighter than a standard cvt. No cylinder deactivation. Back seat is better than the Mazda with good trunk space on the non-hatch. Way better visibility in every direction. It's also Toyota brand recognition/reliability with a cheaper starting price.

Why would anyone get the gas version if you can get the hybrid for only $1000 more and get 20 more mpg’s? Am I missing something?🤔

      Not very. It’s one of the topics I point out in these vids is that the 3’s back seat room is near the bottoms of the class. This was set for me at 5’8”. Wife is 5’5 and I sit behind her just fine. Taller people fit fine in the front with no rear passengers. In this class the Civic has great rear room. The Jetta and Elantra also do very well. Is it worth to get the AWD version of this car?

    • @BeyondTheTestDrive
      @BeyondTheTestDrive  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching and for the question. Do you currently have all wheel drive and how often does snow impede your driving? I would suggest AWD in northern climates. With the 2.5 NA the AWD will only marginally help with handling, at the expense of less range due to a smaller tank and slightly less MPGs. The turbo comes standard with AWD to get the power down so it does help with handling. Hope that helps.

    I'd have the sedan over the hatchback all day long...... I think it's a marketing thing in the UK, where Honda's and Toyota's have a bigger profile. There are fewer Mazda dealers here than the others and people are more familiar with the Civic and the Corolla than they are with the Mazda 3.
