No offense, but why do you hide it? I'm sure there's a ton of complex reasons why, but wouldn't it be helpful if you guys didn't hide this pain? I mean if you want people to know your pain, you shouldn't hide it. Isn't that why 22 of you a day are killing yourselves? (Oh god what if you killed yourself, I hope I'm not responding to a ghost.)

@@MrGamelover23 Lots of reasons.1. We are in denial/don't want to admit how bad things are. 2.There is a stigma attached to it, many don't want the label. 3.Lots of people are judgmental of us, even going as far as to say PTSD doesn't exist (even with 22 a day killing themselves). 4. Thank god this isn't another Hurt Locker. I seen EOD with no eye protection and that's what I thought.. But a few seconds went by and my thoughts changed. As somebody who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in the Army, a majority of this trailer is fairly accurate with the average roller coaster ride of life that soldiers go through(depending on the soldiers MOS/job). I haven't seen the movie so I can't say, but I can tell you that my deployments weren't easy at all. I've had near death occasions so many times and even though it's been 5-7 years ago, it still feels like yesterday. I've known people who've died overseas. One of my best friends from the Army and former sergeant took his life 2 years ago. My time in the Army wasn't easy. My unit had a way of making life in garrison/stateside just as miserable as being in actual combat. After 6 years in(with a barrage of huge ups and downs), 2 tours, 1 marriage, 2 engagements later, I got out and struggled hard. Having no family or support and unable to find a job because no civilian employer recognized any of my experience in the army, I ended up living out of my car several times. I was in a 1 year national guard contract while I was homeless. I would literally get out of drill, change out of my acu's/uniform, and go to my car knowing I had nowhere to go and nobody to talk to. I lost touch with all friends I had and I had literally nobody. Desperate enough, I've moved all over the country. Been screwed over by several companies. 3 years later, now I'm in a State where I don't know literally anyone, working a job where I'm barely making it by on bills, and still trying to not fall back on my former emotions/depression state and treading water but I'm managing to barely stay afloat. I have a good possible job opportunity coming up that pays well but it's not confirmed, so I have my fingers crossed for that. Anyways, in hindsight from my experiences, it's easy to see why approximately 22-25 veterans commit suicide daily. Not just from struggles or lack of support, but with the PTSD aspect as well. There's not enough support for veterans like people think there is. This trailer felt close to home and if the movie is able to portray and accurate version of Military life, I'm glad, because it's important that society knows exactly what both veterans and current servicemembers go through. There are Veterans who still re-live the invasion of Iraq every day like it happened yesterday and that's been a while, but in their minds, they still have photographic memory of it. They aren't able to enjoy life the same way as most people, and for that they deserve everybody's respect. They might not even have missing limbs but they've still made huge sacrifices.

I recently saw this movie last week. It is based from a true story by the soldiers that were in that unit. When I say this movie is real. I mean it, they go to the darkest corners of what these soldiers went through. Through out the whole movie, I think only one or two people said 'thank you'. I started thinking....you know maybe the reason why people in this movie don't say thank you, could be because, when WE the viewer watch and realize what veterans go through when they return home, we can understand a small portion of what they went through, and knowing that we can say, truly say and understand WHY we are saying thank you. I have friends/ family in every branch of the military and I say this countless times when ever I see my friends/ family who served or a veteran, thank you. Because I might not know what they went through over there, I do know that what they did was important.

I'm going to comment on this as the daughter of a Veteran. My father has PTSD, and as for the last few years since certain deployments. It does not matter how long it has been, it is evident that there are still moments for him, and I'm absolutely certain that this applies to anyone who has been in combat in extreme conditions, and even for those who have not been. I grew up surrounded by soldiers and being friends with other kids who mom, dad, or both, had PTSD. It is a REAL thing, and I am very impressed and thankful that this film was made. I think that it is important to realize that this movie (from what I gather from the trailer) touches on the aspects of home life, relationships, work, friends, the whole 9 yards. I know that there have been some complaints in regard to casting, but honestly I believe that Miles Teller is a fantastic talent. If you had the chance to see 'Bleed For This', I think he really had an exceptional performance and that we will only see greater things from him. I'm not sure who Amy Schumer plays, but I'm just hoping that she is in a more serious platform that is believable. I see comments talking about how this is 'propaganda' and 'killing innocents', but you have to realize that when you are in the military, you are serving THIS COUNTRY, AMERICA. You are representing this country, and when you are in war you have to realize that sometimes the most rational decisions are not always made (not that it justifies anything) and that you are under orders of the United States Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, or whatever branch it may be. This movie is from the perspective of soldiers that had to do all of that. Above all, they have to protect themselves as well as their fellow soldiers. Being in a position of a soldier is one that is emotionally exhausting and physically demanding, that can not be disregarded. Have we seen them make stupid mistakes before? Yes. Have they represented this country terribly at times? Yes. But this movie is about those who made the ones who chose under oath to serve this country, and represent it with full bravery. Not all soldiers are the same, they are NOT. This movie seems to reflect the true ideal of a soldier, to fight for this country, to protect it and it's citizens.

We call them DEMONS BUT you have to make or try to make your peace when it appears! I had a friend that bit his wife's arm and she was a darling . She understood! It never became more than a severe bite . just a moderate bite! i would wake on four sweating like a pig. My wife would tap me on my feet with a stick to interrupt the incident! I'm more in control now! For some it is horrifying! For me it's gone. I was lucky! This film is it. During NAM , We improvised our own talk sessions and they were hard to find! I saw this trailer and just broke down in fuckin tears...
Me and my brother were both infantry in the army (me being 3/69 him being 101st airborne)
He got sent to Afghanistan while i got stuck with training rotations. He came back and got out while i still ha some time left in
July 4th I called him to wish him a happy 4th and to let him know id be excited to see him for the upcoming family get together. I would have never thought that "I love you man, see you in washington" would be the last thing i'd get to say to him.
July 5th I get a call from my sister with something i never thought i'd hear. "He killed himself Donzell". From what his roommates said, in his final days he's been battling with depression over some of the things he experienced over there and finally succumbed to it.. We've always talked and joked and i would have never thought he could hide such pain..
In short, I say that to say this: Not all scars can be seen and I hope this movie can relay that to people.
I love you Devon and I miss you. "To Valhalla". "Top of the rock, Rock of the Marne."

I saw a guy in the liquor store on MDW buying a 30 case of beer for a cook out. I lived down the street from him and knew He served two tours in Iraq, I refused to let him pay for his beer so I jumped in front of him and told the cashier that I'm paying because this man is a hero and hero's should never have to pay for their beer. The owner of the store who was ringing us both up told the guy he could have his beer for free and pulled out a bottle of stoch from underneath the counter and also gave it to him for free. Then before the guy left the owner asked me if I could take a picture of him and the soldier so he could tell people he meet a real hero. The soldier shed a few tears because no one after he came back from Iraq showed him this much gratitude, and that made my MDW special. From that day on at our local liquor store if you can prove that you served in the army/navy/Air Force for a tour then all you beer/liquor is free.

I’m not military. I don’t usually watch war movies because I had a belly full of them growing up... but this was superb.
Anyone can relate to what these beautiful brave men must deal with through such a film as this. I cried a lot, especially when that guy shot himself, he looked so much like my sons!
My grandfather fought in WWI at Ypres and got mustard gassed. A couple of weeks R and R and he was back to the front.
My own father was in Burma for 7 years - jungle warfare against the Japanese, he only ever told me about scorpions and leeches, but I overheard him recounting some action; “they run at you screaming and if you shoot the gun out of their hand, they come and hit you with the soggy end!’’
Only now, as I look up his records on the net, do I realise what he went through. They stole his twenty’s and his old age because the recurring malaria got him at 56.
I think it’s good we encourage our men to talk. Better yet, let’s not send them on unjust wars to benefit Halliburton’s et al.
Our men are exploited too much and not cared for enough upon return.
Any soldiers reading this, thank you so very much for your service, we are literally lost without you.

As a Marine Veteran thats permanently disabled due to PTSD an other things, these kind of movies bother me. They seem to glorify ptsd like its a medal. They are making it such a common thing to see with war movies now, everyone is going to get desensitization to it. I waited 5 years to get my rating after fighting the VA because I came in right before the ptsd became well known. Im still fighting today. Thank whatever magical spirit you pray to that there or men and woman working for the Veteran Service, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, because without their sacrifice, people coming back messed up from the military whether it be from traumatic experiences or reintegration issues, would be getting almost no help from the government.

as long as it doesn't bother you, I would recommend reading the book. I think it did a really good job of talking about how needed better mental health programs for veterans are and doesn't glorify anything. I honestly haven't seen this movie but I feel like they just used impactful imagery in the trailer to grab attention. I know the director worked with the actual people that these stories happened to so hopefully it doesn't glorify ptsd.

what's sad about that is, that apparently they must have thought killing and seeing your comrades die would NOT be traumatizing. what do soldiers think their job is? planting flowers?
i'm sorry but it entirely escapes me how somebody can be so naive to believe killing and being threatened with death would be fun and dance and not leave any scars. did they never watch any of the vietnam trauma movies or documentarie?
did they think my lai massacre wasn't so bad and killing civillians in another country was a good thing?

Going to be honest with you guys. My name is Justin Wainwright but not very long ago I was known as SGT Wainwright. I joined the US Army infantry in 2007. I was 17 years old. I shipped off to FT.Benning, GA to complete Infantry OSUT (One Station Unit Traning) unlike most soldiers whos basic lasts 9 weeks and they go to whats called AIT (Adavanced Indvidual Traning) your 11B (Infantrymen) stays in "basic" training 16 weeks. To sum that up quickly, its about as fun as it sounds. Upon completion I was awarded my Blue Cord, Blue Discs for my lapel crossed rifles and the MOS (Military Occupational Specialty, I.E. you job) 11B and was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Platoon, 2-12 CAV 1st Cavalry Division FT. Hood in Killeaen, Tx (Gary Owen, the same regiment as the movie We Were Soldiers, but we were no longer an Air Assault unit but a mechinized infantry unit on Bradley Fighting Vehicles). In 2008 my unit was deployed to Iraq in the province's of Muthana, Dhi Qar and Maysan. During this time I received my Combat Infantrymans Badge, 1 ARCOM (Army Comendation medal), 1 AAM (Army Achievement Medal) and was inducted onto the rolls of the Order Of The Spur and was given a pair of golden Calvalry Combat Spurs. In 2010 I came back to Ft. Hood and re enlisted for 4 more years of service on the condition that I could be stationed in Germany. I recived orders to go to ,yet again, 1st Platoon Bravo Company 1st of the 4th Infantry Regiment, 7th Army Euroupe out of Camp Hohenfels, Germany and lived there training American and allied army troops (Georgian, Romanian, Polish, ect) as well as our own Special Forces and Rangers to be ready to deploy to Afghanistan or wherever thier mission took them. I did this for 2 years before my unit recived orders to deploy to Afghanistan where for 7 months we flew all around that country in Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters. Wherever a platoon of Infantrymen was needed (31 men give or take a few) most. From providing a QRF (Quick Reaction Force/ Back Up/ The mother fucking calvalry) in the infamous Korengal Valley to Kandahar to preform covoey escort duties. Upon my return to Hohenfels, Germany, my chain of command (My Commanding Officer particularly) began to notice i wasnt sleeping and was beginning to drink pretty heavy. A psyc eval followed and a recommendation that I be medically retired for severe PTSD followed not long after. I was re assaigned to a WTU (Warrior Transition Unit) in Ft. Lewis, Washington state. I spent one more year of "service" being evaluated and reciving consuling and was retired from the US Army at 100 percent disability for PTSD and Bipolar type 2 disordar as well as a smattering of other physical issues accumulated over my time in and was sent back home here in Virginia. I told that long ass personal story to say that like most vets I absloutley !!!!HATE!!!! war movies about my particular war because of the infuriatingly un realistic they are and the fact they make people think that is actually what war is like. For example the movie "The Hurt Locker" is the biggest piece of shit that I have ever had the unfortunate privilege to watch.......EOD guys running around in a single HMMWV (Hum Vee.) Jumping out with SF soldiers and pulling off sniper headshots....im already getting way off point so back to it. Saying all of that just now, this movie trailer has made me cry and rewatch it atleast 4 times now. This actually appears to be something that might actually be close enough to accurate that people might actually understand what me and my brothers are, what we actually saw and did as well as the struggle that "coming home" is. You never come home, even if you survive you are always going to be there, I am always going to be there and most people have no idea what that can feel like. How much that can hurt....Some trolls are going to call me a pussy or to get over it or whatever. I dont care, I know who I am and I also know if you said it to my face you had better be ready to fucking defend yourself but as it stands your just pixels on a screen. Im going to ask that you civillians out there watch this movie, it probably has some inconsistencies for the sake of Hollywood (combat scenes are always super "sexy" in Hollywood) but from the range of emotion that the trailer alone made me feel....I have a feeling this film will be special. Thank you for reading this far if you did and have a great evening.

Interesting the comments hating on soldiers because of foreign affairs. The soldier is doing his/her job, following orders. It’s not the military that you take it out on as, it’s the government who commands it if you have an issue with the policies and commands they put in place. Soldiers follow orders like a gun responds to the trigger, you’re not gonna cuss out and hate a gun for firing are you? So why are you going to disrespect a soldier.....

When you 'just follow orders' like a dog, you get treated like a dog. You've got a mind and a conscience for a reason. Ignore them for a paycheck if you will but then don't come whining you want respect

@@huntsman145 You have a problem with men and women who make patriotic sacrafices defending the freedom of this nation? Be proud you live in country where service isn't mandatory. The nation that forgets it's defenders will eventually itself be forgotten.

Just as incredible as military propaganda as you can get right? this film is trash defending the globalist wars in the middle east! America went to war for oil, opium and profits they don't care who wins or loses they will get the same outcome either way. You do know what the military industrial complex is right? maybe you should research the military industrial complex and then tell me you support it.
