ZZ Top always are fantastic but the early albums were special. When they were still very close to the Blues they were best. Reverend Billy G is one hell of a (Blues) guitarist
When Jimi Hendrix saw Billy playing with his pre zz top band he loved him so much he took the band on tour with him. He later said Billy was his favorite guitarist of the day lol is there higher praise?!
@@claytonpaul4259 I've heard a lot stories about Jimi calling various guitar players "his favourite guitarist" - but Billy Gibbons always is among the ones mentioned so I think that there might be some truth to it. He certainly is among the top notch players and his sound is iconic and has influenced multiple generations of guitarists.
@@saschaschneider6355 lol yes well jimi was a kind and humble man, but its certainly true about billy. Jimi also famously said Terry kath from Chicago was "better than him" lol that guy was a beast too, RIP
I first saw Billy Gibbons when he played with his band The Moving Sidewalks as one of the backup bands for Jimi Hendrix at the Music Hall in Houston, Texas. The lineup was The Moving Sidewalks, Soft Machine, Neil Ford and the Fanatics, and of course the headliners The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Ever since I heard them in the 80-ties late 70-ties ( back from overseas 80 years young) Loved them (still do) H was a curse ( still is) but you understand the lyrics.
I don’t know, but I suspect this record is why Billy Gibbons was offered $5 million for his 1959 Gibson Les Paul guitar. Tone like that don’t come cheap 😄.
right out the gate with their first album and they were killin' it!
that little ole band from Texas.

These 3 dudes epitomize coolness.
That guitar technique that caught your attention is called ‘vibrato’, my dear. And that’s exactly how one should react to it. Love your channel.
Lil’ ‘ol band from Texas. They’re one of a kind.
Their oldest stuff’s the best.

ZZ Top has a ton of great songs.
