Some people seem to mistake lack of personal preference for a watch being overrated. Just because you don’t like a watch, it doesnt necessarily mean the watch is overrated.
@@ivanzalac1698 Hello Ivan, I am quite sure that this is a fake account and I have informed Teddy. I am afraid that we did not win anything this time 😅
The Seamaster 300M is, in no way, overrated. To even suggest that is ridiculous. I mean if you don't like how it looks, or some design features aren't to your liking, fine; however, that's not the same as being overrated. The Seamaster 300M is as good, if not better, than the Rolex Submariner when comparing specs down the line, yet the Submariner costs twice as much at MSRP (and good luck getting one at an AD) and the Submariner also trades at roughly three times as much on the grey market. If the Seamaster 300M was overrated one couldn't easily buy it and it would be way more expensive both at MSRP and at grey market prices.
Yeah I understand design preferences, but I struggle to see that watch as overrated. You could argue it’s the most important watch family from OMEGA over the last 30 years and it still has maintained competitive pricing compared to others in the market.
Yeah it’s not over rated but specs are only part of the picture on terms of wanting it more than a sub. Most people are more concerned with design than specs.
@@jimlittle5769 actually it's becoming increasingly obvious (unfortunately) that you hsould pay more for the rolex rather than the omega because the rolex appreciates. most people dont have money to burn and saying that 5k on the omega losses you 2k while 10 on the rolex might gain you 2-3k just makes it a stupid decision financially to buy the omega. obviously there a lot involved in getting a rolex at a reasonable price but at the end of the day many people buying high end watches think of them as gold jewelery osmething that DOESNT LOSE VALUE in the long run. I love omega more than rolex but i cant justify buying somehting for 6000 doallrs thats going to lose value when i can buy somehting for 10-12000 dollars that wont lose value and might gain some. I wish omega became a bit more limited in their production so the watches hold value better because Im not a rich man I cant lose 2-3000 dollars everytime i buy a watch. Im better off buying gold or buying blue chip stocks. however in the case of a rolex its like buying gold. I wish it was the other way around I LOVE OMEGA
@@allackballack and all that shows how underrated the Seamaster 300M is, not overrated. And even then, Omega holds its value better than most every brnad besides Rolex and seriously high luxury brands like Patek, VC, AP, ALS, etc. In the end, I buy watches I like. I'm not looking to trade or sell down the road. I have Rolex, Omega and five other brands. Love them all, keeping them all.
@@user-pn3im5sm7k Same here. When all the cool kids started getting them in the 80s, I had to have one. Took a while but eventually Dad (who was a fan of a good, robust, everyday watch) got me one for christmas. Loved that watch, wish I still had it.
In the early 90s, Rolex Air Kings were being sold for £1999.00 in our local H Samuels (a high street jewellers in the UK, usually selling overpriced tat). Those were the days... 😅
Most overrated watches right now... 1) Anything made by Rolex, especially steel professional models (prices are ridiculous for what the actual watch is and does). 2) AP Royal Oak (just because your favourite rapper/actor/sports star/UA-camr wears one doesn't mean it's worth the hype). 3) Patek Nautilus and Aquanaut models (they're nice watches, but Patek's legacy wasn't built on simple steel watches. Let the Tiffany hype train go - for the asking prices of these, go buy one of Patek's complications instead and thank me later). 4) Gerald Charles watches (Gerald Genta had nothing to do with the watch. It's way overpriced. Let the man rest in peace). 5) Richard Mille (anything that ugly and toylike looking shouldn't be THAT expensive). 6) Omega Speedmaster Professional (Omega sent A watch to the moon. They didn't send YOUR watch to the moon). 7) Anything made by Rolex especially steel professional models (they're so over-hyped that it's worth including them twice).
Sounds like you hate your hobby 😂 Agree mostly, although I disagree with the "all" Rolex part. The price associated with Rolex is ridiculous, but if you remove price from the equation, Rolex objectively make some of the best stainless steel sports watches in the world. And the Speedmaster is an amazing watch, but I agree with how aggressively the moon story is pushed
@@m.e.p.r I love the hobby which is why I'm so aggressive with people just using watches to make a fast buck instead of appreciating the craftsmanship and history 😅 Regards Rolex, I agree - they make some of the best SS sports watches on the market - period. (Although I'll also argue that Omega have been catching up noticeably in the past 5 years and may even match them now in some cases.) However, the prices Rolex are going for is above and beyond the quality. They'll always be expensive and desirable because of that quality, but the movements, simplicity and lack of aesthetic refinement do not justify the hype money that's now being asked. (Btw, when I say 'lack of aesthetic refinement ', I mean simple - if very well done - finishing on the cases and dials, and the extreme simplicity of the overall design.)
@@neilmartin7776 I think there is also a case to say that the current RRP associated with Rolex is undervalued. Rolex occupies its own financial microclimate, with similarities to the real estate market in many ways. Any other luxury brand would have raised its prices significantly over the last 3 yrs, but Rolex, being effectively run as a trust/charity, have not. Personally I think the RRP for most Rolex are incorrect. Anyway, it's all horribly subjective isn't it? One man's trash etc.
Yep. About sums up how I feel about the industry. I own Rolex watches sure. I own two tone gold ones. Don't fancy paying 50 grand for any stainless steel watch. That's just stupid. No the Rolex RRP isn't undervalued at all. Average luxury consumer can't shell out 20 grand USD or more for a watch. I think Omega and Breitling probably have the most reasonable RRP for what they offer in the luxury watch industry.
It's great to hear your take on these watches Teddy. The Omega Seamaster 300M is a watch that I do not think is overrated at all. The co-axial movement, ceramic dial and a brilliant bracelet. This watch needs to be seen in the flesh and photographs and some videos do not do it justice. I wasn't a fan of the wavy dial until I saw one at the AD and walked out with it. The He valve is I think more heritage rather than function and I don't mind it at all. Very few will use it for it's purpose but it's there anyway.
Same here, used to think the SMP300M was ugly and it was all over the place in terms of design, at least seeing it online. However, when I checked one in person and I went closer to the window and the sun was shining on it, I took my card out and paid it.
I completely agree. Although I do feel like he could cut down the length of the video significantly. He could cut down roughly 40% of the video in a lot of cases. He repeats himself a lot, but some videos are next to perfect.
I recently picked up a casioak. Honestly i wasn't familiar with the enthusiast following it has, i was looking for something robust for work and activities like dirtbiking. I wanted an analogue watch that was smaller and cheaper than many g shock options available. Found a casioak for $70, tbh i bought it for what it is not what it isn't.
"according to subscribers" that is a smart way to talk about something potentially controversial without taking ownership of the ideas themselves. I like this series, with your platform this is a good way to do it and I'm glad you are. BTW I 100% agree with the SMP being all over the place. That watch to my eye is a mess.
I kindly disagree with this comment. I think it's a way to engage members of the watch community while also talking about topics that Teddy deems relevant of discussing. In a way, he is also taking ownership by either agreeing or disagreeing with these points and providing a rationale. Just my two cents.
@@jeremie9888 You're right, he was agreeing and disagreeing, what I mean is its a neat way to bring up (air quotes) "controversial" topics. Oddly, and while I do give credit to 95% of the UA-cam watch community, there is a subset of angry keyboard warriors posed to strike at anything and everything. I've never seen anything like it actually, I've been very active in many different YT communities but for whatever reason in the watch hobby there are these people who's life passion is ruining the hobby for innocent people. Its an absolute shame because it shuts off any legitimate conversation before it can even happen. Doesn't matter what you say or how carefully you say it, there is ALWAYS someone ready to rip your head off. Teddy knows this better than anyone, which is why I expect he approaches these subjects in this particular way and I applaud him for it. If he were to simply state these as if they were his opinion, he'd get crucified for it. Don't take my word for it either, just read the comments of any watch related video, you'll see exactly what I mean.
That's exactly how Trump talks... I wouldn't say it, but I've heard people saying, blah blah blah... then he can say it without taking the heat that he said it. Gets the idea he wants out there into people's heads but he doesn't have to take accountability.
I’ve really no issue with the Sinn 556i at its current price of $1530 on an H-link bracelet. It’s a timeless design that’s well built, beautiful, and will fit on most wrists. Comes with a reliable top grade ETA 2824 (or Sellita SW200 now?). And it’s a strap monster. Definitely a GADA watch. Only thing Sinn need to do is update to a better clasp (get rid of that diver’s extension too!) as that H-link bracelet is great. If they do this, I hope current owners can just buy the updated clasp.
Great video Teddy. I’m a big critic of the many design flaws (imo) of the SMP 300 but it’s not an over rated watch and remains a great value proposition. I’ve always questioned why they don’t improve those old design cues and your explanation makes perfect sense to me - hard to totally abandon a design that was so successful to the brand and remains a big seller
My first mechanical watch was an SNK93 and it was terrible. It would lose about 30 secs per day while worn and gain 2 minutes when resting. How do you adjust that? And the 4R movements are almost as inaccurate. Sure some people might get lucky and get one that works fine but is a gamble. I returned it and got a PR100 Powematic 80. It runs at -2 sec per day at its worst. Worth every penny.
Sinn is an iconic brand with iconic designs IMO. Those are the two most important characteristics of any watch brand for most people IMO. The intangible that makes one watch worth so much more than another. Specs are way less important. Sure Sinn has been successfully raising prices but comparing their "value" to the lesser midrange German watch brands is futile. When you are a weaker brand you need to offer more specs for the money, of course.
R.M., Where do you see this watch in 100 years? Nowhere! I have been collecting for over 40 years. People ask me to help them find a watch. They always answer," I want a Rolex." I ask them what model? And they answer I want a Rolex. Social media steering the herd. LOL
While you were talking about the Rolex Explorer Tiffany i looked down on my wrist wearing a Pagani Explorer V1 and thought about what other watch i'm going to buy with all the saved money. A Sinn 556, 104, a Tudor silver BB or a Marathon GSAR whire dial? So many options when you don't spend your money on rollers... 😁😁😁
The Explorer only comes in black dial with 3,6,9 Arabic numerals in 36mm. The Explorer 2 comes in white or black dial 42mm. There is no other Explorer m.
Great video. The issue with the black bay chrono isn't the watch itself; it's the name. They had to slap the "black bay" name instead of it being its own thing.
Teddy - it’s frustrating that when I click on a preowned watch in your website it comes up as “out of stock” …. so far I haven’t found a watch in your line up that IS in stock …
It’s crazy how the Tiffany nautilus completely made these op Rolex prices shoot up unnecessarily . They’re like one of the only 3 Rolex lines I actually like.
i'm not a fan of skeleton or open heart watches. but i have to admit that what richard mille is doing is a way to keep mechanical watches alive and to demonstrate why mechanical watches are so special. richar mille watches can be considered as "faberge eggs of watch industry.
YES to everything Teddy said about Omega SMP300! Imho, it's the GOAT diver, and have bought it twice. METAS, coaxial in-house monster movement with a ten year service interval, ZrO2, etc. Can't mess with the specs. Sure, the helium valve is certainly a polarizing design choice, which is why there's also the Seamaster 300 without it for the vintage look. Personally, I love the helium valve, so sporty---but no question, the SMP300 isn't for everyone. I do find it interesting that nobody else has made a serious run at that price-point...Breitling below, MM300 below, BB below, Sub above, GO and Fifty Fathoms well above, but nobody wants to take a shot at the king of $5k:)
@@AJ-bi6ns I prefer the Omega personally, but to each their own for sure. On overall package, I much prefer the SMP300 to the Sub...but of course the masses have spoken to the contrary.
The whole overrated watch problem can be tied to social media influencers and celebrities. Richard Mille is the best example. I just don't get the brand. I saw one recently that had what looked like a rubber elastic band for a strap and it was over $300 k. It makes sense from an investment standpoint and that's it. The Omega Seamaster Professional 300 m is a nice watch up close. The hour markers are similar to what you'd see in a submariner or blue pelagos. The only problem I have with the Omega Seamaster Professional is the rubber straps. They don't look as great as the metal bracelet shown in this video.
1. Agree with RM, pure hype. 2. Agree with Tiffany dials, pure hype. 3. Disagree with Omega, but I don’t like the helium valve. 4. Disagree with Tudor, beautiful watches. 5. Disagree with Casio Oak, amazing value and fun design. 6. Agree with Sinn, great call on this one, overpriced is the biggest issue.
I will admit my 124300-0006 isn't the most complicated watch in my collection but dear god does it look fucking fabulous and feel great on the wrist, its not the 124300s fault that the Patek Tiffany sold for an astronomical price... Step up your watch game and get your Rolex watches from your AD and you will start loving them, I honestly think that the majority of the hate Rolex gets is simply bitter jealous people who can't afford grey market prices and can't get them from AD's......
Great video as allways. Teddy is there a chance you could make a video about the new seiko SRE003K1, and specially the new moovement inside of it because i cant find information about it.. Thank you
An interesting video may center around what watches, say, in the last five years have especially risen in price, however that is defined, and why. Thank you, Teddy.
I love watches and respect anyone who buys, wears and collects watches they like for whatever reasons. I am not into Richard Mille, but I do respect the materials, unique designs, and all of that. The Tiffany OP is also in my opinion not worth the 35k they are currently trading for, but I guess it depends. If you make or have real money, want to have some fun with the Tiffany dial while it's popular, the Rolex OP is relatively cheap and much more available than the Patek. Also, anyone who says Rolex sports watches are over rated, go to your local AD, checkout some of the display models, put them on your wrist, wind them, check out the clasp and bracelet, and then ask the retail price. I am sorry, but non of them are over rated, and at retail no other brand in my opinion comes close to what Rolexs offers. Are they worth the secondary market prices, not for me, but that doesn't mean they are over rated.
Richard Mille it’s indeed impressive how they charge this price for those works. Actually a business case study. From a watch perspective, normal clocks at the worst of the vulgar bad taste you can think of. This is the very point: the more flashy the better! Hats off for your comment on Omegas despite the product placement they seem to do with you.
From a watch perspective, they are definitely not "normal clocks." Love or hate the design, the watches themselves are engineering marvels. There's a reason there are tons of dedicated watch enthusiasts who love the brand, while love of Hublot is a lot rarer.
The Sinn Damaszener 1800 Gold. The Damaszener was great at a limited production run and then Sinn backtracked and re-released another 100 batch but this time with "Gold". What a cop-out
I'm gonna go with the IWC Mark XVIII as the most overrated watch. I think it's a bold claim to make considering it's not a wildly popular watch but hear me out. For a retail price of $5,250, you get a watch with an undecorated Sellita movement, poor power reserve of just 42 hours, poor water resistance at 6 bars, painted on dial numerals. The only thing this watch has going for it is the incredible bracelet with the micro adjustment system on the clasp and easy to remove link system with push buttons on the inside of the bracelet. When you start comparing this watch with other watches in a similar price range, it's easy to see why it's such a poor watch. For around $5,000, you can get an Omega Seamaster 300 professiona, an Omega Aqua Terra, a plethora of Grand Seiko, or even save a lot of money and get a Tudor Black Bay 58. All of the previously mentioned watches come with in house movements and greater power reserves and technological innovation. Even worse, you can get an IWC Spitfire with their in house movement that comes with decoration on the movement and a 72 hour power reserve for LESS than the IWC Mark XVIII. I don't know what IWC is smoking but the Mark XVIII is a terrible value watch and overrated.
Definitely disagree with the SMP being overrated although I definitely wouldn't mind Omega making a few changes. I dig the skeleton hands but no date option, clean dial, and a bit of taper on the bracelet would make it a favorite for me. But hey from what I understand those watches are selling like hotcakes so they know what they're doing
Great video! Have you analyzed Doxa as being overrated yet? I just bought the classic Orange 300T directly from Doxa and seeing the same watch used for $200 to $1000 more on EBay as there are very few places to buy them. Thoughts?
The Seamaster 300M is more polarizing than overrated. The helium escape valve isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I get that. But I personally like it because it differentiates the watch from every other dive watch.
I would say the seamaster 300m is not overrated what so ever. I admit the helium escape valve is annoying but the quality and the movement for 5k is a great deal. Omega can charge more if they wanted too.
LOVE these videos and all the others. I've recently started learning about the luxury watch world and I really enjoy the way you present the different brands, movements, etc. In the end, I will probably end up with a Rolex, but still, I will at least be making a more informed choice thanks to your videos.
The Damasko DS30 is always used to put down the 556i because the DS30 has marginally better specs and supposedly costs $1k (on a strap) vs $1.5k for the 556i (on a bracelet). That price gap no longer exists. The DS30 is discontinued, but you can get the new DK30 for 1.4k, but only on a strap. Want a bracelet? That’s another $600. Yeah, it’s ice hardened with an in-house movement. Amazing value, but so what? It’s a tool watch with a bead blasted case and a funky crosshair design. Not nearly as versatile as the 556i, which is plenty rugged and has 200m WR. Personally, I’ll take the versatility of the 556i over the less attractive DK30 and it’s unnecessary specs.
Seamaster is absolutely not overrated imo. The hands and bracelet are instantly recognizable. The coaxial movement offers something more, than say, a submariner. Speedmaster is the real overrated omega watch. No hacking and no automatic for 5 grand? Would still like to try a speedy reduced 3539 someday though.
I own a Kurono Tokyo Anniversary with the coral dial very pretty watch but purchased at retail and agree with the point on being overvalued Also Teddy you were right on with their distribution method. They recently introduced a new Chronograph on Feb 24th I participated in process and actual had one secured in my check out cart. By the time I went to add my credit card number (matter of seconds) my cart was empty and a notice posted that watch was sold out. Extremely frustrating and a real turn off Will not be pursuing this brand anymore in the future Looking for a dress chrono and will focus on Zenith and Omega
The thing with the NH35 is not the movement; it's the price of the watches that have it. I like the NH35 and think it makes perfect sense for watches below the $200 mark. But put it in a watch going for more and there better be a lot of other features justifying the price 'cause the movement ain't it.
I just bough a nearly new black version for a reasonable price, albeit 55% over list price. The tiffany blue in the UK is being sold for £25,000 ($33,000) crazy
100% agree with the baby blue "Tiffany" OP. Is this the Rolex that could burst the bubble? Seems like it could be. It might be the first Rolex in a while that people paying north of £20k lose money on. The green OP is much nicer in the metal 💚
I fully agree - the green is classier, and if the Tiffany Blue is going for those crazy prices, some people are going to get burned big time. It might even reset the market - if one Rolex crashes, do the others follow suit?
@@neilmartin7776 Will be interesting to see where the price of 🔵 OP sits in 18 months time. I don't think it will crash the entire Rolex market, but I can definitely see it coming down in price. Have you seen how many of them there are for sale on Chrono24? They are certainly not in short supply
@@m.e.p.r I don't think it'll crash all Rolex prices for all models, but the current hype is built on the assumption that Rolexes don't lose money. When (and I think it's going to be when, not if) the OP prices do plummet, it may shake confidence in the majority of Rolex prices and we may (hopefully) see a market correction.
@@neilmartin7776 I read the other day that what the baby blue OPs are listed for and selling at (on Chrono24) are two very different things. Apparently the bulk of them are selling for between £13k - £15k which seems about right to me. The discontinued white dial 39mm OP is up at around £10k now as well.
could you please let me know what the watch at 9:13 is. great simple no date design. so many of those Seiko movement designs, including from Seiko, have date, so great to see alternative. thanks
interesting, the Benrus site says, Movement: ETA Swiss automatic movement w/ hacking seconds feature. so OK, maybe they did use Seiko at one time? sort of fits point made in your video, a $1700 watch with Seiko movement, perhaps not go over well.
I think the Seamaster 300 Pro is under appreciated. It’s a fantastic movement and absolutely bomb proof. A super comfortable tool watch, I love mine purchased for less than $3000. I think it’s a bargain even for a few K more.
Couldn't agree more. Especially when you consider that it is every bit as good as a Rolex Sub, but you can buy 2 or 3 Seamasters and change for the price of one sub on the secondary market.
@@ToastyTarmac yes indeed... I found the earlier wavy lines dial a little hard to read, the most recent "waves" pattern seems to be a bit better, I opted for the blue on blue.
The Omega SMP 300 is a great design, EXCEPT the lack of lume. The skeleton hands limit the lume to the end of the hands (the small strips disappear after an hour), making it impossible to see and distinguish at night vis a vis the hour markings lume. The SMP 300 with solid fully lumed hands would be awesome.
If i saw a magical watch genie that could give me any watch in the world I would choose a Tiffany Rolex… Then I would sell it so I could buy a watch that’s actually worth the money, and still have thousands of dollars left over

Hi Teddy, How about a list of best watches to buy as university graduation gifts? My eldest son is currently completing a commerce degree (majoring in banking and finance) and my youngest is also at university studying philosophy and politics. What watches do you think would make excellent graduation gifts? I want to give them something they can always look back on as a gift from their proud father.
Hey Teddy, I just wanted to ask if you could review the Straum Opphav watches? I can’t decide whether to buy one or not, and there is only footage of the RastarKalv series and the Black and White versions of the Opphav, which are a few seconds long and from the company itself. Could you maybe get some footage of the Blue and Green versions? Would be very grateful if you could.
The thing about Rolex is they tell you when they sell them they never lose their value... But when you go to trade up on them they only give you an eighth of the price.....
I have a question that might be off topic but would love your view on milus snow star. Is it a quality watch,I think it’s a beautiful watch but are tech specs there to warrant a buy versus other watches in that price range love the show
I think part of the appeal of the Tiffany blue dial is that it’s such a loud color. Remember the whole, “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes” thing? A Tiffany blue-colored dial can be recognized way farther than that. This helps the watch get recognized in photos where they’re worn by celebrities or other famous people. So, ways to more overtly display wealth/status: larger case size, diamonds (in some time periods in some groups), gold (at least in the 80s), and how loud the dial color is. I’m willing to bet that if the Rolex “Hulk” were more of a darker, subdued green, it wouldn’t be as popular as it is and has been.
Love the two parts of most overrated watches right now. How about doing the most underrated watches right now? It would certainly be a great contrast to these. Love to hear your thoughts as I am in the market to get a luxury watch as a gift and looking at a chronograph chronometer which is not easy for something about $10k or so.
Why not talk about underrated watches for once? I think the Cartier Santos is way underrated for what it is. As an everyday watch I think it is incredible, and compared to the aqua terra or the explorer (of you can get it at retail ofc) I think it definetely holds its own from a design and history perspective. Yes it's not as tool-oriented as the other two but it is still very versatile for everyday use since most people who own these watches probably don't do heavy duty stuff with them anyways. The Santos is a very versatile Design icon that can be dressed up or down for almost any occasion And it's just so god damn beautiful!
@@mybrainlikesthings agreed. It looks great but for most people the design doesn’t work in real life. It’s too dressy for a sports watch and too big and toolish for a dress watch. Kind of doesn’t have a real place in a collection.

To the point of the Sinn, currently looking at the Sinn 556 MoP. I think it is gorgeous and special, but I cant get over the clasp, is sooo horrible. Do you have a better alternative in a similar size and price range up untill 2500? PS: I love the Oris 65 too, but here the Bezel is flimsy. An other one that I am looking at is the Black Bay 36(black), a perfect watch as well but the dial +indices are underwhelming... It is hard to find the perfect do it all watch in this range which all boxes for me.
I used to agree about the nh35 until I tried a San Martin with a HK precision pt5000 (2824 clone) at $60 on ebay for a single movement that is the budget movement to have I think as you get a 4hz beat and a thinner design based on a proven platform for about the same money as nh35's are actually trading at these days.

For the G-Shock 2100, it's a watch with actual g-shock protection that doesn't look extremely gaudy, or like it was made in 1985.
Damn. The g-shocks that look like they were made in 1985 are my favorite g shock designs. To each their own.
@@user-pn3im5sm7k Same here. When all the cool kids started getting them in the 80s, I had to have one. Took a while but eventually Dad (who was a fan of a good, robust, everyday watch) got me one for christmas. Loved that watch, wish I still had it.
In the early 2000 the Omega Seamaster professional was being sold at Costco for around $1500 Canadian
In the early 90s, Rolex Air Kings were being sold for £1999.00 in our local H Samuels (a high street jewellers in the UK, usually selling overpriced tat). Those were the days... 😅
I remember seeing them in Sam's Club here in the U.S. in the late '90s, though I don't remember the price (probably something similar).
I remember seeing them.
I remember the time a Rolex sub was $ 4000-5000 in my city, the good old days.
@@m.e.p.r I love the hobby which is why I'm so aggressive with people just using watches to make a fast buck instead of appreciating the craftsmanship and history 😅
Regards Rolex, I agree - they make some of the best SS sports watches on the market - period.
@@m.e.p.r it's very much subjective, which is why it's such a fun hobby!
I think Omega and Breitling probably have the most reasonable RRP for what they offer in the luxury watch industry.
any watch you can’t buy right now at retail price is overrated
@XH stop smoking your mom's socks, it's not healthy for your mind.
I absolutely love Teddy Baladassarre's channel, from the presentation style, detail assessment and appearing in professional attire. This is quality.
I bought the metal one and it is absolutely fantastic. It makes me happy every time I look at it.
Same. Just got it today!

"according to subscribers" that is a smart way to talk about something potentially controversial without taking ownership of the ideas themselves. I like this series, with your platform this is a good way to do it and I'm glad you are.
BTW I 100% agree with the SMP being all over the place. That watch to my eye is a mess.
You're so right about the SMP! On top of evertything else the bracelet is sooo bad 80s design...
@@diydad7704 some people really like that bracelet design, which is totally understandable and nothing wrong with that.

Great video Teddy. Interesting, informative and entertaining. 👍🏽
The Powermatic 80 movement are solid performers at great price.
Omega is my favorite watch right now. Hopefully I’ll have one soon. Well, that or a Tudor 🤷🏾♂️
Love all of your media channels and the reviews. Keep up the good work!

Sinn556i may not be the best value for money watch, unless you find a good deal but that won't stop me buying one.

What is a Tiffany Explorer?
@@michaelriera6277 It's a standard Explorer with that baby/light blue dial.
The Explorer only comes in black dial with 3,6,9 Arabic numerals in 36mm. The Explorer 2 comes in white or black dial 42mm. There is no other Explorer m.
Great video. The issue with the black bay chrono isn't the watch itself; it's the name. They had to slap the "black bay" name instead of it being its own thing.

i'm not a fan of skeleton or open heart watches. but i have to admit that what richard mille is doing is a way to keep mechanical watches alive and to demonstrate why mechanical watches are so special. richar mille watches can be considered as "faberge eggs of watch industry.
You are kidding, Fabergé eggs were stunning pieces of craftsmanship. Not some poser plastic looking watch.
The are eggs alright but unlike Faberge they are rotten eggs.
These are very well thought out comments. Thanks. Learned a lot.

Omega bracelet is a let down in comparison to the Oyster Rolex provides

I love this series! Your audience is very sharp. Fun video once again. 😃
The Tudor Chrono is actually I really good looking watch. Yeah, its thick, but all chronos are.

It’s not overrated bro it’s just overpriced

The Seamaster 300M is more polarizing than overrated. The helium escape valve isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I get that. But I personally like it because it differentiates the watch from every other dive watch.
Good point
I would say the seamaster 300m is not overrated what so ever. I admit the helium escape valve is annoying but the quality and the movement for 5k is a great deal. Omega can charge more if they wanted too.

I do get the manual movement, to be honest. I think it’s good to have an option for a manual watch which in theory should be slimmer.

A bargain at a few grand plus for a plain, steel dive watch? There are Orient and Seiko equivalents for less than $300... That's a bargain.

@9:11 Isn’t that a Benrus re-issue with an ETA movement and not a Seiko NH movement as per the VO?
The thing with the SMP 300 is that it is a dovit all watch.. Dive, Sport and Dress. Not man6 can pull that off.

The Santos is a very versatile Design icon that can be dressed up or down for almost any occasion
And it's just so god damn beautiful!
@@mybrainlikesthings agreed. It looks great but for most people the design doesn’t work in real life. It’s too dressy for a sports watch and too big and toolish for a dress watch. Kind of doesn’t have a real place in a collection.
Richard Mille looks like an arcade/pinball machine..NOT one of those gotta have watches.,..and give me the Planet Ocean over the Diver 300…someone said it looked cartoonish..and I agree
Tudor should make a brushed stainless steel Pelagos with a see through display !

What are your thoughts on the Spider Monkeys with the Tiffany Blue bows Watch Nicholas mentions on his channel?
Yeah, I really like the Sinn but it's getting expensive when you can get a Longines conquest 39mm for $900
Good lessons on economics with hard goods. I think that you have a pretty spot on discussion previously about Veblen goods. We are there at this points for most luxury goods. Thanks to the internet, the 80’s on roids.

Teddy, what do you think about the Rolex 16613 Serti dial
I can understand the movement argument some what. In the price range around 1000 I expect a sellita, eta or comparable movement.
Its true the Seamaster Professional is a bit over-hyped. The Planet Ocean is a far more competent watch and my favorite Omega that isn't the Speedy MOTM. For some reason, the PO seems to be largely ignored.
