In this video, I'll take a look at some of my definitive best watches for around $5,000 looking across a variety of categories. It can be tough to pick out only one watch in certain circumstances, so I will also have honorable mentions where appropriate. What do you guys think? If you agree or disagree with any of my picks, be sure to add your choices down below in the comments.

As long as Tudor and Omega, are readily available at sticker prices, and do not begin with bs sales tactics, like other’s , they are a safe and excellent pick👌
I can’t upvote this enough!
Exactly. I bought 3 omega’s 2 tudor in 2021 because they’re attainable.
Agreed
...if you have absolutely no imagination whatsoever. And your 'watch connoisseurdom' is limited to seeing watch commercials in action movies from the two most popular watch companies. What finds!!
Besides, Tudor has already engaged in "bs sales tactics" as not only has its owner Rolex used their "non-existent supply" to steer the rabble trying to buy them into Tudors, but I've already been told by several people that they've had to put their names on a waiting list at Tudor!! Haha, unbelievable, huh? People are actually letting themselves be put on waiting lists for Tudor after being refused any sale at all for a Rolex!
Omega on the other hand for sure is churning out those watches from their mass production by the hundreds of thousands so people can buy the same watch that every other guy has and pretend to be James Bond...
@@pistonburner6448 go to a therapist buddy it’s not that serious
Dear Mr. Baldasarre, I learned recently after watching one of you videos that being well into my 60’s I’m not part of the target audience. Nevertheless I enjoy your videos enormously . I have started to put a watch collection together to eventually leave to my children and grand children. I am basing my choices on your very clear and detailed opinions. So thank you for that. If I lived in your part of the world I would be buying them from you too.
@@jimbojimbo6873 Please explain your comment . I am not clear what the link is between sexual orientation and watch collecting
@@leidetai5082 just ignore such comments. I understood your point
You like nice watches and thoughtful videos? I think you’re exactly the target audience 😃
thank you, spider man
Underrated
😂😂😂😂😂
That Longines Master Collection was my 'gateway watch' my wife bought it for me for our wedding and ive never looked back. The value for money there is impossible to over state.
Excellent video, as always, Teddy! Would love to see these at every value tier, starting at $1,000. I imagine these would be similar to your “watch collection” videos with various budgets, except obviously focusing on one piece per budget.
Great content! Keep this Best of series coming! Thanks
Great job with the content. Love the idea of increasing the funds and options available.
My favorite video from you all year! - My price range covered very well.
The Omega Aqua Terra with the green dial is my next big watch -in love with it !
Amazing format, great content, KEEP IT COMING!!!
Enjoyed this format tremendously. Excellent content!
Tudor and Omega are simply two of the greatest value for money
Seiko
Grand seiko!
grand seiko spring drive, most accurate watch ever
Tudor is under Omega, check Omega history
G shock
You never disappoint. Another informative and entertaining presentation.
Lately I've been eyeing the Aqua Terra a lot. The Omega divers had my heart for a long time, but the Aqua Terra is dressier.
I got myself an Aqua Terra last year ... a versatile watch for many occasions. Highly recommend it.
Dressier but you can still bring it in the ocean with you to 150m when I go in the ocean I splash around or snorkel where maybe I’ll real quickly go like 8-10 ft under water. Unless your a real diver it’s going to do everything you need it to do. With that said I don’t own one I own a sea master 300m and love that watch a lot. But I also own a Rolex OP 41 so I see the appeal of owning a do it all watch like the AT.
If you can afford to upgrade to the Omega worldtimer you should look into it.
I really liked the AT chrome dial in person so I bought it,but I find it boring now ,want to trade for a 300 diver
@@Bredes1 I love my 300 it’s a solid watch
Another great video. Solid timepieces that should be in every collection.
Hi Teddy. Great videos. Would like to see you do a 'wristcheck' as I find myself constantly trying to work out what watch you are wearing. Keep up the great work.
What I really like about the aqua terra is that because of the shape of the hour markers, they point towards the center point of the dial.
And that the back is transparent, so you can see the movement 😊
Love these kind of videos. Gets everyone thinking.
Love to see The Longines chronograph getting some love. Truly underrated watch
I love the design of the Longines Chronographs but I find the watches too thick. Probably owing to the Valjoux movements. older models with Chronograph modules such as the Omega dynamic 2 Chrono are actually thinner
@@kelvinyao5172 yeah, 7750 base but robust
Great review Teddy, love the Long ones!
Very good format- definitely do it again!
Great video Teddy, would really love to see more of these!!!!!
My first luxury watch is an Omega AT white dial 41 mm with the orange seconds hand. I absolutely love this watch so much I forget I have other watches this thing never leaves my wrist. I do however much prefer this watch on a nato strap vs it being on the bracelet, I feel it gives it more presence on the wrist, and more sporty look. So glad the AT made it on your list as an everyday watch. Tudor GMT or SMP300 blue is next on the list for me!
Thank you, Teddy!
As usual, excellently done.
How about the same format in the 5-13k range?
Great Video! Recently saw JLC duoface with blue dial, really liked it. Want to pull it as a dress watch soon!
GREAT format Teddy.
I would recommend the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph for $5800. The finishing is amazing for the price and it's great to have something less mainstream. I feel Chopard often get overlooked due to their jewelry side, but people often forget they started off as watchmakers and still make killer time pieces!
Eta movements?
Dude. Great Recommendation. Wouldn't even have thought of this but looks like great value for money. COSC movements.
OH HO HO STARTING WITH THE SEAMASTER. such a strong start! This video is going to be epic!
Some really good choices Teddy. I think I pretty much guessed most options. The one I didn't get was the IWC but I'm not too familiar with the brand at this price point. Revero v Tank, for me it would be the JLC for all the reasons you mention although I would still like the Cartier at some point. The everyday I guessed spot on, the AT and the OP, either would be a great option. I would add one more to the everyday watch and that would be the the Omega Constellation Globemaster blue pie pan dial. The Tudor BB GMT would also be my preference. For the chronograph I would probably pot the Speedmaster and the Bigeye followed very slightly by the Tudor purely down to readability, the Tudor is a great watch but the snowflake hour hand at times will obscure the sub dials. The Seamaster 300M is a no brainer for me for the diver, it's an amazing price for what you get. In house movement that is COSC and METAS certified with great build, there should be a dial colour to please nearly everyone.
Man, I just love these videos.
Good video I think you can mention multiple watches for each category. Omega does have a great lineup at this price point.
Seamaster Railmaster is my first luxury watch. Absolutely love the blue dial and texture. My everyday watch and great to see it represented here
Good choice
I have the Toge and I feel happy every time I put it on. It shines like jewellery under direct sunlight. Everything about it feels so well made.
Every video you do puts a different spin on what are the qualities I want in a watch. (I lean towards “ one and done”.)
Great video. I really liked all your picks and agreed with most. I love JLC and the reverso, but the options around 5k are not very formal looking in my opinion. For someone looking for a formal automatic dress watch for under 5k I think the IWC Portofino is the best option.
i like this vid. you do a great job of explaining your choices.
Going through the list I’d go as follows for my 6.75 inch wrist:
Omega Seamaster Diver
GS SBGW231
Omega Railmaster
Tudor BB Chronograph
GS Toge (almost tie with Tudor BB GMT)
IWC spitfire instead of Mark XViii
Great format here! Enjoyed this!
Totally agree, I have 3 watches you featured. (Variants of) which works for all occasions.
Omega Seamaster 300M 007 Edition
Tudor BlackBay GMT
Omega Speedmaster Racing
For dress watch Im eyeing the Santos.
Another quality video, Sir.
Cant wait for my first big watch purchase! Until then, Seikos will have to do lol
Another excellent video. Thank you!!!
Great video. I can agree to almost all picks but the IWC with Sellita movement.... I don't think so.
IWC deservedly keeps getting hit by the use of Sellita and asking lots of money for their watches.
Hey Teddy, love what you're doing, really informative and interesting formats that always keep things interesting. Watched a few videos now and noticed that you never talk about Bremont. Wondering why? A Black Bay / S501 side by side would be really interesting, I'm sure there are others as well.
Because he is only talking about mass-produced watches for everyone like Tudor, Omega, etc.
Great video Teddy! I want the Omega eventually. It's so beautiful in person....images just don't do the dial justice!
That’s how I feel about all watches. You really got to see them in person! Which makes it hard for me in Alaska where no one sells any of them so I buy online most of the time
i'd love to see this series going in increments of 5k, and taking into account second hand markets
I'm quite certain you're aware of this, but MT in the Tudor movements stands for "Manufacture Tudor". Tudor sells the movements to Breitling, not the other way around, as it sounded when you were describing the Black Bay Chrono. I've learned a LOT from watching your channel, sir, and your videos are very enjoyable. Thanks!
From what I’ve experienced so far, my taste will go for:
- diver: Tudor Black Bay 58, more versatile and everyday diver,
- dress watch: JLC Reverso or ultra thin or a Grand Seiko, but I would go for a vintage piece,
- everyday: Christopher Ward c63 Sealander Elite, less than 2k€ but still can’t find a better one, the specs and features are spoton. 😎
- chronograph: Zenith El Primero Chronomaster, no brainer for me here,
- GMT: Grand Seiko automatic GMT SBGM221, cream dial, no brainer as a dress-GMT: #1 on my list: clean and simple, own design away from the usual Rolex GMT, high quality of finishing.
- pilot/field: Fortis Flieger, is a good catch here, or maybe Stowa or Sinn are really good for me even if the price is lower than 5k.
great advise and variety for any day
The Longines master collection chronograph is amazing..I also own the omega speed master ref 3331.20 triple calendar with moonphase is a great choice too.
Don't fall for the whatsapp scam.
great video, cheers Teddy 👍
Hi Teddy, love your selection!
One important detail concerning IWC.
They have their own “measurements” about water resistance.
Their 60m is actually close to a usual 100-150m resistance from other brands.
I went snorkelling with my Mark 18 and it worked without an isssue
@@JuanCEOs725 off course he did. So you can go diving with your IWC up to 100 m and if the watch breaks you can go to IWC and get garantee because Reapgames has said so.😂😂
@@johnandmorehb3422 look it up; it’s in the official IwC page
As an owner of a Tudor Pelagos and a Longines Master complications I am pleased that both watches features in this video. I would love to have a JLC reverso , a very good choice.
Lovely video as always.
The Master Complication is insanely good value. It's the most watch for under 5K although some of the Christopher Wards give it a run for its money.
Tag Carrera Chrono is a nice choice. The simple Carrera was my everyday watch for years and took a beating without a complaint.
Being an omega fan, have to say they're a bang for the dollar. Great selection, and good content. Also... congrats on the engagement.
Same here. But Tudor can be the great entry to luxury watch world. I have 3 Omegas and 2 Tudors.
Omega is missing an iconic GMT watch.
@@hansenluu agreed. I had a Tudor get. Sold it and now regret it.
@@craig2100 did you sell it for a small lost?
@@MarkDanger777 no loss
@@craig2100 oh nice! My brother is about to buy a bb58
I got the blue Tudor Pelagos on the bracelet and it is an ideal everyday watch. Especially for someone like me who pretty much only wears jeans/t-shirt or scrubs.
Amazing video, learned a lot
Picked up the GS sbgw231 this weekend. Much more than a dress watch. Great smart casual versatility
Love the video. Great content. Question. Out of all of the watches you reviewed which one do you think would retain its value over time, even gain in value?
The omega seamaster 300m was my first luxury watch and I’m still just in love with it.
Nice, same here!
Same here. Although I picked up the 007 edition bc it was unique. Or I could have gotten the tokyo olympic version.
@@hansenluu the Olympic and 007 watch is so nice. Both are great choices.
@@vox207 The Tokyo Olympics version is so cool looking.
Same here. I am considering switching to a aqua terra but I massively love the 300m. Not sure what I’ll do.
For a daily 'one-watch' I'd suggest the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue. It's as dressy as the OP or Aqua Terra but with the 300m water resistance of a Submariner, fully lumed, and a slim classicly beautiful though modern engineered movement. The only downside seems to be the price - at just under $4K it's just too cheap!
@@polygoncoco Point taken, but it works fine on my 7.5" wrist and is probably OK down to 7". It's entirely possible they may come out with a smaller version later, though with a smaller movement you'd lose the 'big date' appearance and other advantages of the new DUW6101 movement. This is Nomos's first modern style watch on a metal bracelet, but it most likely won't be their last.
I have the Omega Aqua Terra with the rubber strap, the JLC Classic Reverso Duoface and the Cartier Solo- which I chose because it has a non traditional flat bezel... I had to get a Rolex the OP 41 in silver ..love them all
I’ve had an Omega Aqua Terra co-axial for 5 years and it is an amazing everyday watch. Amazing quality, beautiful (display back) and accurate in house movement, that flys under the radar unlike Rolex. Breitling Superocean Heritage is a great choice for a dive watch around $5k.
+1 for the Breitling Superocean Heritage II.
How does it look trying to get something that I’m just going to be wearing 24,7 but wants it to look mint years down the line
My first luxury watch was the BB58 Blue, I wear it every day, even to the gym and I love it!
Great choice, I've been buying watches for over 20 years and the BB58 blue is one of the best.
Aqua Terra and Longines you presented are terrific.
I own the White dial Seamaster 300m and a black dial Black Bay heritage (41mm). They are both beautiful watches and work just about anywhere.
Teddy, I was watching kitco news and Kevin O threw ur name around several times. Good for u!!
The Aqua Terra is such a beast. I had the Omega Boutique through in 2 extra straps and all of a sudden I have 3 very different watches that covers tough to tuxedo.
How’d you manage that?
Where did you get straps
@@camerongupta6994 Negotiation.
@@Lozza117 from the Orlando Boutique.
only problem i don’t like omega is the thickness! doesn’t look good on my feminine like wrists
I am frustrated with luxury watch brands that refuse to add micro adjustment clasps on every of the bracelet models. Just cannot understand it
The true $5000 sleeper is the Grand Seiko Soko series (green accented models SBGA427 and 429) 39mm, comfy 3 link bracelet, and Spring drive, screw now crown 100m resistance, open case back. Should be #1 spot
I was shopping Omega AT or a Tudor of some sort at 5k but I ended up getting an sbga427 and it's such a cool piece for the price. 39mm is perfect and you get a second strap too.
I have an Explorer I (39 mm) as my every day watch but if I didn’t it would be the Aqua terra. Great video…. Keep them coming
Great vid. Grand Seiko’s quartz GMTs are also in this price range.
I just got 1st Omega Aqua Terra. Blue!!! ref nr. 231..... it's like my favourite sport=golf! You can play any course Inc mashie , but once you will roll on pristine greens. There is no way back! Worth every penny. Forgetting Rolex.
Super ocean Heritages and Oris Aquis are two of my personal favs.
Hi thanks for this great video !
The Aqua Terra you always show is the black or green dial ?
Absolutely spot on which every pick.
Would love more videos focused in the $100k-$50m range if possible. Thanks Teddy! 😆
Some excellent choices!
Been hunting for grand seikos but came cross the aqua Terra last week and it's really growing on me.
Very good video, very informative.
Thanks for this interesting video. What time piece are you wearing here Teddy?
Omega, King of the $5k range! Seems like Tudor and Omega are good competitors in this range. Great watches and great brands.
Yeah Tudor occupies that range quite well . But they are no match for Omega in product to product comparison. The Omega always feels more expensive. Nor does Tudor have the recognition etc. That means only one thing. Omega will move upmarket. Buy that SMP 300 now😉
Really like all the picks in this list! The only one I just don't connect with is the IWC. I know most of these manufacturers don't come close to the 5k mark, but for me the pick would be the Longines spirit collection hands down for a Fleiger. I would chose Stowa or Laco over IWC as well for a genuine Flieger type watch.
If you haven't reviewed the Longines Spirit yet definitely check it out. The finishing is incredible, the dial is georgous, and the prestige edition has a very nice qr bracelet and upgraded clasp. The winding of the L888 is the smoothest I've ever felt, even beating out my Omega 8500 in a skyfall AT.
That’s a cool looking watch I own a longies Hydroconquest and it’s usually people’s favorite watch in my collection
Just got a two tones Aqua Terra annual calendar at an unbeatable deal and it looks stunning, shiny yet sporty ;)) Reverso is very interesting piece as well, the blank stainless steel is a canvas for artist's creativeness ;))
Great content as usual, Teddy. By the way, you look really sharp in your outfit today! You should wear it more often!
Another great video! Do you think you could make a video about good value for money tourbillons?
The Aqua Terra is my grail watch. It is my watch choice. Glad to see the Longines on the list as honorable mention.
I think 1500 would be great for this list.
Give like first then watch later, love your content and style.
I will eat my shirt if there isn’t a grand seiko in this list
Hey Teddy, I might be wrong, but the case size of the Longines Avigation Bigeye is 41mm.
Great video and content.
PS: congratulations 🎉🍾 and all the best for you and Courtney! 🤵🏻♂️👰🏻♀️
Excellent video. Thanks
The FINISH on THAT Rolex EXPLORER bracelet is GORGEOUS 😍 ✨️ ✨️ !!!
Great video. Thanks
Great Video!
Omega pretty much rule this price point anyway, don’t they? I think the Aqua Terra is hard to beat. I would like to see the same type of video at different price points. Thanks Teddy!
For me, an Aqua Terra, Planet Ocean and a Speedy Pro would handle anything I need from here on out to the grave. No question.
iwc does a pretty good job too, the mirror blue is sooo perfect in the sun, cant beat that
Breitling Avenger
really good video thanks a lot
Aqua Terra! It is my first and only piece for now, and I am starting to think about another piece. I might buy one more with a different dial and rubber band for sports style (I have a bracelet now) 😅 Crazy idea to buy another similar piece, but I just love them. But I probably will end up with a moon watch or some omega diver with a rubber band.
Great video! Thanks
I love my omega seamaster had for 2 years and as beautiful as ever love your realistic videos for working class range of watches
Thinking of the railmastet myself! Being basically and All brushed finished aquatera with awesome dials! Whats not to like.
A little while ago I spotted an El Primero reissue for like $5500 on Jomashop, if I ever find one at that price again I'm jumping on it! Prefer it to the speedy at that price honestly.
I would swap the SBGM241 for the SBGE271g. It's like a black dial version of the snowflake with the GMT. Unreal for the price
Have the Tank Solo (prefer its flatter bezel) AND JLC Duoface: wear on difference occasions... also have Omega Aqua Terra with orange second....
