What are the goals of Carp on the Fly Productions?
The first and most important is educate about Carp. How Carp live, feed, and interact with the environment.
The second is to inspire people to want to fly fish for Carp.
The third is to educate and review the equipment that can be used for Carp.
And finally, to get people to respect these amazing fish.

Excellent content. Thanks for putting it out!
My pleasure!
Sick. So sick.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Best action fly fishing video! You do a great job explaining the cast and strip so well. 👍🏻😀
Thanks
Amazing video. Outstanding air drone footage
Thank you
Man your videos have been getting me pumped! So much so that I took my lunch break today to fish for Carp at a pond 10 min from my office. Ended up catching my largest carp ever! Probably a 20lb fish!
Congrats. That is one awesome aspect of Carp Fly Fishing I love going to cool destination to fish for them, but we don’t have too. We can hit the pond nearby. Thanks for watching and I’m glad the videos are getting you pumped. Tight Lines!
Tremendous production quality. Very cool.
Thanks.
Very kool man, thx for sharing
Glad you liked it.
Good stuff!
Thanks man.
So ready to get after them fun fish to catch... awesome video like always 👍
Thanks, it’s picking up
@@carponthefly8282 for sure
Got to go
Great clip and very good commentary . We do this in Australia too as well as catching them on Ned rig soft plastics . Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it. I’m hoping to visit Australia at some point and chase some carp there too.
That release at 2:43...love how she shoots out of the water like a torpedo
Sometimes I think the only reason we even actually land them is because they are bored. Obviously she still had a ton of spit and vinegar when she hit the net. Thanks.
@@carponthefly8282 for sure! Grass carp are especially that way.
Outstanding as usual! Thank you very much for all your hard work. You make it look so easy but we all know it's not...LOL
Thanks Sean, it is definitely not easy. I was out this weekend with the best trout fisherman I know he was skunked. I have had him out maybe 5 times with me. He brings his own SUP and he still hasn’t even hooked one. Great guy and I love fishing with him but carp are a tough fish to connect with.
Excellent! Not sure how you get the drone's flight time to match up with your fishing and catching over and over again but I love it!
It is a giant pain in my A$! A lot of the time, but so cool when it works out. I’m glad you enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Excellent!! Carp can be awesome
? What type of small boat??
Thanks Matthew. And yes they can. I use a Bite Rackham Aero. I actually did a video last year on my setup if you are interested in the details.

Do you have any fly tying videos of ones you used in this video?
I saw your other comment. It looks like you found the Carp Maul video.
Any tips for post spawn as we get further into summer?
Post spawn is usually still really good fishing, the carp can be harder to find, and a little more spooky. It really just comes down to finding them, and hopefully in spots you can actually fish.
How do you find good water to fish for carp. I want to catch one but not sure where I should go.
I spend a lot of time on google earth. Seriously. I have a some really cool areas that I have found scouting on google earth. I also have found quite a few that were duds. So there isn’t a sure fire method. But what we are looking for is water knee deep or less. A lot of times we can get a pretty good idea about that from google earth. I was in North Dakota last year for business and I google earthed the area and found a great spot to fly fish for carp. I ended up catching about 10 carp, 3 Buffalo fish and a handful of catfish on water I had only ever viewed on google earth. And I didn’t see another human out there. I think there are a lot of untapped places out there. But because they are untapped, we have to go find them. But that, to me, is part of the fun.
Been getting after them at Utah lake and some of the clearer tributaries, it's been awesome but the conditions have to be perfect to get into them. Do you have any advice for when it's cloudy/breezy so it's harder to see them? Also if the water isn't perfectly clear?
Yes, but it is a long topic. I actually was thinking about making a video to discuss that. As a start I can give you some tips. And you are right, it can be really difficult if conditions aren’t perfect right now. As we get into summer and fall, the conditions are mostly perfect, but spring tends to get a lot of changing temps, clouds, wind, etc. I’m actually heading out fishing right now, but when I get back later I will try and get you a good response to help you get started on this.
@@carponthefly8282 sounds good! Good luck!
Today was one of those days. Cloudy, windy. Really tough. So, the first thing is you need to be good with less fish. There is just no way that you are going to as successful on a day like today. So we have to change our mindset. The next is to try and find ambush points. Areas where you can stand without moving and get shots. A lot of time this takes some water knowledge. I know at the spur a few pots that funnel the fish into small areas that I can sit on. Try and find leeward spots. Spots that are behind some structure and protected from the wind. Typically you can see better if you are looking in the direction of the wind as well. You also can go to areas of complete shade. If there are stands do trees or a ridge, getting into the shade can also be beneficial on cloudy and windy days. You can also fish nervous water, this usually means getting shallower than typical. If you have never done this it can be a frustrating good time. To see nervous water the best angle is towards the sun(even though the sun is behind clouds. The water will vibrate in an unnatural way. That is a start, it’s tough.
@@carponthefly8282 I appreciate the advice! I'm going out right now and conditions are less than ideal so hopefully I get into them still
is this Colorado ??
Utah
where are you located??
Utah
Like dreadnought for dread nothing. Nought is nothing. Why Yanks remove letters from words and pronounce them incorrectly is a mystery. Lke Maths is short for MathematicS and the s on the end is important as Maths requires two numbers.
What are you on about? Does this having something to do with carp on the fly? Did you comment on the wrong video. If not, you may want to check your meds.
@@carponthefly8282 no you say ought when its properly Nought
I still have no idea what you are talking about. But anyway, tight lines.
@@carponthefly8282 you say ought for no apparent reason not Nought. Unless you are saying Aught which makes no sense.n0 is nothing or nought, not ought.
