People can and do argue about whether clapton is better than Srv or vice versa but when you get up to this level of talent i just say be quiet and enjoy the ride.
SRV's last performance was with Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy in Wisconsin. I can only imagine what that concert was like with these three legends on stage at the same time!
@@77Infidel indeed, I personally prefer knopfler and Gilmour to Clapton and srv, but that's just my taste. I'm not going to argue that any of them aren't super talents.
Well. Not exactly. The nickname comes from his name CLAPton + SLOW HAND-CLAP. The connection to his guitar style just fits so well, but the nick-name came long before he was famous.
I’ve always heard it was because in his live performances he’d take forever to tune his axe between songs and the public would start a slow clap, thus “slow hand”.
The utter joy that comes across your face when the music starts to sink into your soul is lovely to watch. So glad to watch young people enjoying the music of my youth ❤😊❤
The guitar solo on this version is simply one of the finest solos ever recorded. You can feel it in your SOUL!!!!!!!! Just perfectly played by this guitar god!
In '83, I went the ARMS concert in Dallas. A benefit show for someone in the music biz who was seriously ill. It starred Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton. I went wanting to see Page and Beck. Clapton, I didn't care about as I was only familiar with his mega-hits. I left the show a complete Clapton fan. I was amazed at how naturally he spoke with the guitar. Just like we speak with our voices. We don't have to think about the inflections, the pauses, the tempo, etc. We just say it. That's how he played the guitar. Later, I learned about how he gives back with charities and concerts to honor and/or help others. He is a class act as a person and an icon as a musician. When you learn about the struggles and tragedy he has endured... well, they say true artists have to experience suffering to unlock the emotion. He's a true artist.
My mate had a Ford Capri back in 1975 and we used to listen to 461 Ocean Boulevard (which had this cover) on an 8-track player as we drove around. This was in Cape Town in South Africa, so very stunning scenery whilst listening to Eric. Happy days.

Eric is an incredibly talented guitarist! I'm particularly fond of his "blues" covers. You feel the music right down in your soul! Great singer also! I seem to remember him doing a collaboration with B.B. King. - oh I remember now it was "The Thrill Is Gone" and probably more because they were great friends. B.B. King was also great! Some of my favorite Eric Clapton songs are "Lay Down Sally" and "Cocaine" and are both very well worth the listen! I find the backup singers on this one quite distracting though.
Love seeing a hip-hop fan dive into the magic of Clapton! That live version of 'I Shot the Sheriff' is on another level-Eric Clapton brings such a soulful, bluesy twist to the reggae classic. His guitar solos just hit different live, right? As someone who grew up on both classic rock and hip-hop, it's awesome to see the appreciation cross genres like this. Music really is universal, and Clapton’s vibe clearly resonates no matter your musical background. Keep these reactions coming-there's so much more gold in Clapton’s catalog!
You need to check out all of the Crossroads concerts.I believe that there were 10 of them.Earlier in life Clapton had a substance problem, and he later created a clinic in the Caribbean to help others with the same issues. These 10 concerts were how they were funded. Check out all 10 concerts. He invited all of his friends. Pay attention to the legends playing on stage with him. They are not on every song , but change from song to song. There are a lot of great musicians on stage at any one time. Do your research first,so you can recognize them . ENJOY!!!!!!!!!
There’s no reason for anyone to dislike you. I’m 57 and I enjoy your reactions. I like your introductions also. I’m so glad to see another generation discover the music that I grew up on. It’s really no one’s fault that you aren’t aware of these older musicians. Thankfully you’re in a position to discover them and enrich your musical knowledge. The more you know, the more you know. Knowledge is power On a side note, Eric Clapton tragically lost his 3 year old son , Connor, back in 91 when he fell from a 53rd floor window of a building. As a result, he wrote the song Tears in Heaven. You should check it out at some point.
Eric Clapton was originally in Cream his ability to cross any genre of music and excel to the top is legendary, from psychedelic, rock, southern rock, blues, jazz or country he mastered it all !
Clapton was originally in The Yardbirds, a great R&B band until they went 'commercial' so he quit. He then joined John Mayall's Bluesbreakers recording a great album in 1965 of that name + "with Eric Clapton" - it's on UA-cam. He left to form Cream with Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker in 1966.
We are hanging in there, dude! You almost blew a load all over your keyboard! I’m 63 years old and love Eric Clapton. I’m familiar with all your reviews on the 60s-70s rock. I’ve never seen this video! Thank you! Absolutely love your show. I’ve been addicted for weeks now.
Thanks. I’ve never heard this live version and I truly enjoyed it. I’ve been a fan of Clapton since his early days in the mid sixties. I love watching your reactions but today we had a first reaction together!
P.S. You seem to have copped a few dissenters with this version, little brother, but don't let it get to you. Remember, this is your reaction, so fuck em.
Please don't mistake people expressing their opinions about how they feel about a song as any kind of dissent. We are all here for MB's reactions, but that doesn't mean we have to think the version he is listening to is the best. We can share our opinions about songs themselves without meaning ANYTHING negative about Molly Boy's work. If we didn't like that we wouldn't be here! 🤘🏼
Clapton already made a name for himself with the Yardbirds and Bluesbreakers, played lead on the Beatles' While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and invented hard rock with Cream & "Sunshine Of My Love"....All before 1970! Since then it's been a series of incredible solo records and concerts and he's still going strong.
Interesting version... a quite bit different from the original. Can't say I like the backup singers on the one, unfortunately, but the solo was very cool. Definitely check out the studio in your spare time.
I had to come back today to leave my comment. My hands were busy while I listened on release day. No matter what, you need to react to what YOU want to hear, rock, reggae, rap, whatever. We are here to listen with you, and it seems most people here comment that they love YOUR reactions because they are genuine and authentic. Many have admitted that they watch even if they aren't big fans of the song because they want to see how YOU react. OWN THAT COMPLIMENT and run with it. This is YOUR CHANNEL, and visitors are here for your reactions and to enjoy your true musical adventure. Enjoy yourself, and we will enjoy that in and of itself. You often comment about musicians also being able to sing. You can bet most of those people have spent much more time practicing on their instruments than they have in vocal training if they've had it at all. Those master guitarists who sing can play those guitars, like you said, with their eyes closed. You have to be confident in your playing abilities to work the vocals in, too. That instrumental focus on the playing rather than singing may be why, as it seems to me, you appreciate the grittier, raspier vocals of ARTISTS like Clapton and SRV. The young band members who start out playing and singing at the same time, without being especially skilled at either, may become, with practice, popular music acts, but they are NOT the masters these men are. These guys DO become one with their instruments. That is what separates them from average musicians. They have practiced as long as you've been alive!!! They have added hard work to talent and have been rewarded in the eyes of fans worldwide for what they offer our ears. Please continue your variety in your journey. Go down those rabbit holes. Try different genres. We are here to tag along on your exploration. So many of us are older and are appreciating another chance to experience these tunes anew for a second time with you. Got to see Clapton among many greats at the Crossroads Festival. It was a very memorable show. Also have it on DVD. Clapton is a hit-fest. A legend, that one.
Clapton is one of the best guitarists of all times. And that is Steve Gadd on Drums, number one drummer ever, you hear him on so many classics and don't even know it.
That was an awesome version of this song. Of course, Clapton is one of the best. We love your 'Let's go'!! Don't stop doing it. We've even started doing it ourselves when we're ready to go. Thanks for your reactions. We really enjoy watching, listening, to you.
I love to watch your reaction to our music, I hope when you walk down the streets and see old people in their 60’s and 70’s, that you remember we were OG when it came to music. Enjoy and look into some Bowie.
Bob Marley is fabulous too - my radio station always features a band/artist on their birthday and I share EC’s so I heard a lot of his songs every year ✌️
Man, I love how you pointed out that hard work beats talent, but sometimes there's just something extra, almost like a natural gift. It's true-no amount of practice can replace that raw, innate ability some people have, but hard work is still what takes it to the next level. Clapton’s talent is unreal, but it’s his dedication that makes performances like this legendary. It’s that perfect mix of talent and grind. Great reaction!

Whats so great about Clapton live is no distortion in that solo. Every single note played to perfection. Not a single mishit or slight miss placement of his fingers. There is a reason he's called Slow Hands. It's like hes not even trying. A true master.
Fantastic, I hadn't heard this version it is truly awesome, have you listened to the colab between Eric Clapton & Carlos santana, I think you would possibly 'Bust a nut' literally. I love your reaction to these greats, its so nice 😊to see genuine appreciation.😊
It’s always a pleasure to hear Eric live and his evolution over the years. You always hear that incredible sweet tone and the impeccable cleanness of his playing… making the guitar sing! I think he has always underestimated his singing/voice. I think he said he was reluctant to sing in his early bands… but I’ve always enjoyed the sound of his voice. That being said, there are so many great Clapton performances but yes! live version of Crossroads is a must with Cream!!
Clapton jammed after the concert in Alpine Valley with Stevie Ray, the night of the helicopter crash. What Clapton said about Stevie’s playing- when I’m jamming through a solo, really going for it, sometimes it’s like, where do I go from here, but Stevie always knows without any hesitation. I’m paraphrasing, but that was the gist. 😎

Clapton's nickname was "Slow Hand", because he was so precise and made it look so effortless with minimal hand movement when picking.
Well. Not exactly. The nickname comes from his name CLAPton + SLOW HAND-CLAP. The connection to his guitar style just fits so well, but the nick-name came long before he was famous.
