Bob Marley wrote and first recorded this song in 1973. Eric covered it a year later and had a huge hit. More of Bob's music and Jamaican Reggae as a genre got worldwide exposure from Eric's cover. The mystery guy from the Rolling Stones is guitarist Ronnie Wood.
He's from the Rolling Stones. Although many have covered this song, Eric recorded his cover that went mainstream pop/rock as soon as it was released. He did not write it, but was the first to record a version that became the most popular. No one else had done it until he did. All covers from then forward were most likely from bands covering the Eric Clapton version. This song was very big when it came out, on the radio every day. The jam he does on this live version gives you an idea why he was called 'smooth hand'. edit: (that's Steve Gadd on drums, has recorded with everyone, including Steely Dans' AJA)
Undoubtedly skilled, but was never a big fan of his style solo, although I did like Cream. Ren and The Big Push actually made me like this song for the first time

Great, thanks Esh ☮
Ronnie Wood is his name and he is in the Rolling Stones
For a little shake up try Joe Bonamassa doing “Redemption” or Joe and Bet Hart “I’ll take care of you”

Not Keith Richards, it's Ronny Woods
