Eric Clapton - I Shot The Sheriff [Crossroads 2010]
• Eric Clapton - I Shot ...
Watch Eric Clapton perform "I Shot The Sheriff" live from Chicago at Crossroads 2010. Originally written by Bob Marley, Clapton's version of I Shot the Sheriff appeared on his 1974 solo album, '461 Ocean Boulevard.' It is the most successful version of the song, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100
Eric Clapton, one of the world’s pre-eminent blues/rock guitarists, once again summoned an all-star team of six-string heroes for his fifth Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2019. Held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the two-day concert event raised funds for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, the chemical dependency treatment and education facility that Clapton founded in 1998.
Lyrics:
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
All around in my home town
They're trying to track me down
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the killing of a deputy
For the life of a deputy
But I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
Sheriff John Brown always hated me
For what I don't know
Every time that I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
I say
I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense
I shot the sheriff, and they say it is a capital offense
Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town
All of a sudden I see sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down
So I, so I had to shoot him down
I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
Reflexes got the better of me
And what will be, will be
Every day the bucket goes to the well
But one day the bottom will drop out
Yes, one day the bottom will drop out
But I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy

Clapton is the King of British Blues: he played with The Yardbirds, The Dominoes, Cream, Blind Faith, The Beatles, BB King, Zucchero and many others, as well as a colossal solo career! 5:13 the bloke who’s chewing gum right there is Ron Wood, the guitarist from The Rolling Stones and a good mate of Eric!
I cannot believe I haven't heard that version. I'm old, surrounded by wall-hanging Strats, and I've subjected my family to decades of Clapton. Thanks for that one!
I miss Bob Marley. So glad he taught Clapton this song. Can't think of anyone else who could do it justce.✌️
This is a classic. One of the greatest guitarists in the world 🌎 💯🔥🔥🔥
Clapton and Mark Koffler played for Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday. They tore it up.✌
Dr. Steve Gadd on drums absolutely killing it as usual.
Old man Clapton is just as awesome
Eric's nickname of slow hand has nothing to do with his playing. In his younger years when he would break a string, The audience would slowly clap while he put a new one on.
exactly tht
The bassist is Willie Weeks. He's done a lot of session work, and toured on stage with Gregg Allman, The Doobie Bros, Buddy Guy, and several others.
Es increíble que cada nota que toca es perfecta, tiene la duración justa, el vibrato justo , el ataque justo, la suavidad justa. En mi opinión el mejor guitarrista
Did you see who was on the side of the stage? It was Ronnie Wood from ' The Rolling Stones ". He also played with Clapton at " Live At The Rainbow " and other shows.
Did You see the band member of the Rolling Stones in the audience ?? :-))
Yes, Ronnie Wood!
yeh that first cross to side stage...it was obvious these guys didn't know who Ronnie was...
@@mickdundee2642 That's pretty funny in itself.
Yes a superb video and song. Great live performance from a legendary tune.
Bob Marley song he taught Clapton after Eric heard it and met him in 1974
Please listen to my darling you look wonderful tonight ❤
It is still a non Marley song@@MarjorieStoker-oj8fh
Best live performance ever.
So beautiful, every person on stage, wow!
I can't hear this without thinking of the parody's lyrics: "Andy's the Sherriff, and Barney is the Deputy."
You guys should react to Clapton’s Old love accoustic version and 1992 Mountain View.
Another banger is Groaning the Blues at his channel
King of reggae Bob Marley
FOREVER MAN, BAD LOVE are my favorite Clapton now.
That, I believe, is Steve Gadd on drums. He's also a legend played with so many groups, including Steely Dan. What a performance by all.
That pocket is my hometown drummer Steve gadd one of the best touring drummers of all time Google him from Rochester NY the rock
I heard this version first, in the 70's, but I haven't listened to it since I heard Bob's original.
No other Englishman "gets" the blues more than Clapton.
Joe Cocker
😊👍😎
Suzy, you mentioned the seasoning in his vocals, and right you are because 2024 will mark his 60th year in the business!
Actually 60 years this year, he joined the Yardbirds in 1963, I first saw him live in January 1988 which was his 25th anniversary tour….
@@SotonCueMan thanks, math has never been my strong suit. and I took saw the 25th anniversary, in San Francisco.
Watching her utterly cringe at “clap tons” made my day
The deputy shot the sheriff (because of this song) on the TV series Eureka. Well she tried to then jumped in front of her own bullet. Remember it was Eureka.
...and the amazing Steve Gadd on drums? Are you kidding me...?
Ron Woods digging it
Despite being a huge reggae fan I find Clapton's studio release of this song in his Timepieces album the best rendition till date. This live performance is less rock. Same thing applies to his recent live performance of Knocking on Heaven's Door. The original studio version was a nice combination of rock & reggae with a touch of harmonica alluding to the blues.
Isn't his nickname slowhands? Quite funny when you look at this... 😅
The story I heard….He got the nickname slowhand in the early days , before he had a tech, and he would break strings, he had to restring his own guitar. He had to do it manually and that is a slow process. Hence, he earned the nickname.
since you like Clapton live.....check out Clapton in 1992 LIVE at the filmore doing HAVE YOU EVER LOVED A WOMAN......USING A GIBSON RED 350 GUITAR....JUST LIKE HIS 60's playing
cool Jeff Beck was in the audience
👋👋👋👋👋
I spot the great drummer Steve Gadd.
Yes!!
Please react to his live version of "I Shot the Sheriff" but from the 2004 Crossroads Festival!
I would really love to see you guys react to Amy Lee's cover of Thoughtless by Korn. It's amazing!!!! Love your videos. Big big fan!
My cousin used to be a sheriff.
👍
You might have something Detective Travis. The Sheriff could totally have been the one who actually shot the Deputy 😂😂😂😂
Thats his wife and daughters sitting side stage in the beginning of the video, the woman with the darker hair that is
The version the Bob Marley is best
Every day the bucket a-go a-well
One day the bottom a-go drop out
One day the bottom a-go drop out
the deputy had his throat slit
I think it is Ron Wood
You should react to the 2004 version
Intresting requesting a reaction costs money on ur website from 25 to 70 dollars.... depends on length....
The Wailers (with Bob Marley) did a pretty good version of this, but...
social distortion : winners and losers - i was wrong
It’s a song. Maybe it’s not a real story about a deputy. I’ve never heard that it was an actual real story. Ask Bob Marley. It’s his song. Oh, wait, he’s no longer with us. Someone else must know the background of this song.
please react to new Beatles song
Maybe no one shot the deputy.
Bummer, I woulda rather heard the record.
Slowhand.
I don'tif you haerd, The Warning are going to Wacken in 2024.
Check out the KING OF REGGAE THE ORIGINAL ❤❤❤❤❤❤BOB MARLEEY
He taught this song to Capton.
I thought I Shot the Sheriff by Clapton was out of sight, until I heard Marley do it.
Bob Marley wrote the song he did the original in 1973. Clapton personally asked for permission to redo it in 74
Please can some of these white people give some credit to Bob Marley for writing this song and giving Clapton the permission to sing it
Plis reaccion not for me myles kennedy slash and the conspirators thanks
Sorry but the original song is waaaaay better.
