    This video was most helpful, thank you so very much. I have been contemplating getting a presser foot for my Janome but wasn't reassured just by looking at a still picture of a presser foot because I thought there was no way it was going to fit. What I didn't realize was the whole thing needed to come off! Many thanks again.

    This was great for a quick refresher, also the reminder about increasing stitch length. Thank you.

    Brilliant - I did exactly what I was told and it worked - this doesn't always happen so a BIG THANK YOU for the tutorial.

    I bought one for my machine to do my car seats. 1 measly layer of vinyl and 1/2 scrim. I have been trying for days to get even top stitches. If I don't pull the material, it doesn't even move

    Do you think that this will help me keep my fleece from stretching so much? I am going to put it as a backing on a blanket

      it may do... the important thing is to baste the layers thoroughly and make sure nothing pulls while you are stitching - only stitch a couple of inches at a time, move the whole piece on, and keep the rest of the work supported. Good Luck :)

      Hi Gayana - did you buy the walking foot with the machine? - it sounds like you have the wrong foot to me.... it should be a high shank foot...

      Hi Rachel😳😔😞😳 I am embarrassed to admit when I put the foot on and fiddled with the stitching and my needle was positioned on the left. Nowhere in my very thick manual does it tell me how to change needle position, it was more luck than judgment it moved over to middle position. The safest would be if I could move the needle to the right. Thank you. Hugs xx

    • @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084
      @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084  9 місяців тому +1

      He Wendy @@WendysCraftDen you can move the needle position by altering your stitch width... its the button with the zigzag motif... or it could be your stitch setting, - on some machines there are various needle positions preset, eg the 1/4" stitch moves the needle to the right... hope this helps Rach x

      @@patchworkquiltingclassestv9084 Ho Rachael I will try that later on thank you maybe I need to down load the hundreds of pages manual. I would have thought it would have been I the basic manual. I have had machines in the past and it’s basic instructions. Thank you for your help. Xx

    • @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084
      @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084  9 місяців тому

      it should still be ok - its only the little white bit that's on the lever that needs to go over the needle bar :)

  • @tulipfever8
    @tulipfever8 3 роки тому +1

    What is the purpose of the metal bar that comes with it?

    • @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084
      @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084  3 роки тому +2

      That's to help you stitch parallel lines... The longer edge clicks into the slot at the back of the foot, leaving the shorter edge sticking out over the fabric... I'll sort another video out to show you 😄

    • @tulipfever8
      @tulipfever8 3 роки тому +1

      @@patchworkquiltingclassestv9084 thanks for explaining. I can probably do without attaching that as I normal stitch in the ditch.

    What is the best stitch length to use?

    • @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084
      @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084  Рік тому +1

      Hiya - I tend to quilt with a stitch length of 3.5... remember to stitch about 6" at a time then move the whole thing forward to stop your work dragging :)

    Any advice on why my bobbin thread won't pickup?

    • @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084
      @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084  2 роки тому

      Hi Catherine, check you've got the bobbin in the right way round - and your needle is secure, and rethread the whole machine... it shouldn't be anything to do with the walking foot. Have you checked without the walking foot?

    • @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084
      @patchworkquiltingclassestv9084  2 роки тому

      Also, I'd clean out the bobbin race - it may just be a bit of fluff, or a stray fragment of thread... :)
