Thank you so much, I have a beautiful Bernina and I have used my Stitch Regulator and mastered Free Motion Quilting. However, I have never even thought of using decorative stitches! I am about to start my own Stitch Journal. Fabulous and thank you again, my quilting is taking a new direction!!
This feels so much more doable that jumping right into FMQ. I know they aren't the same things, but they're kind of related - like cousins on the quilting tree of life! Hope your break is going well, Angela!
Its definitely related! It doesn't matter how you finish a quilt as long as you finish it! My break is going well, I'll be back soon with more episodes :) hope you are having a great week!!!!!
Great video Angela. I've only finished two quilts so far, and used my walking foot for both. The first was a Jelly Roll "race" (mine was more of a "walk", as I'm a careful piecer and was a stickler for having straight seams). I just did 'parallel' wavy lines inside the borders from top to bottom of the quilt, and then did wavy lines following the lines of the borders, using one line for the 2.5" inner border, and three wavy lines in my 5" border coming to points in the corners. I have to say, it turned out great, much higher than my expectations. More importantly, my niece LOVED it (it was a gift for her graduation from University), and it encouraged me to try more dense quilting on smaller projects at first -- like my quilted zippered bag. Next challenge: FMQ (and I'll start with your FMQ challenge). THANKS for all you do to encourage and inspire us Beginner Quilters, Angela. You're the BEST! ~Diana from Toronto
That wavy line is my favorite WF quilting stitch. I’m sure that it is in every quilt I’ve ever made. It makes a nice texture after the quilt has been washed. Just thought I’d throw my $.02 in since this was something I actually knew about!! Love the videos. Thanks again!
Thank you for your tutorial, I am making my first quilt and just got my walking foot. I thought I could only use plain and zigzag stitches but doing things the way you do the sky is the limit. Now I need to make up my mind to find a stitch and rows that Can make or break my quilt. 😁Regards Rita.
I took both of Jackie' s walking foot classes and highly recommend them both. The nice thing is I can pull the classes up and refresh my memory for ideas whenever I'm ready to finish a quilt. She is very organized, and to the point and offers many creative options. If you like WF quilting, you'll want both of her classes.
I am excited to start this challenge. I will apply these techniques to the many quilt tops that I already have pieced. Thank you for your time and stay healthy!
Nice tutorial. Thanks for the tip on Ms. Gearing’s Craftsy class. Love her and will definitely check that out. Haven’t used Craftsy in awhile. Thanks for your solid quick tips. Very helpful. 😉
Fantastic video! I completely forgot about the decorative stitches on my machine for quilting. Boy this will save me so much time and awkward hand movements, lol. Thanks Angela. Lee :)
Thank you so much for walking foot tips! It's actually the only kind of quilting I can do, but I watch your incredible FMQ all the time. You have such a talent for making empty look areas into WOW! I'm sure you'd die of boredom doing long straight lines, but that's my safe place. Love your videos--Girl, you rock :)
Hi Angela. Thanks for this. Question for you: my stitches get really tiny when using a walking foot to quilt. My set stitch length is 2.5. Why might cause this? Thank you. I learn so much from you. I'm taking one of your Craftsy classes too.
Gee whiz...I never thought of using decorative stitches with my walking foot! I have a table topper that I tried free motion with..YUCK RIPPED IT ALL OUT! Will definitely go down and do this method tonight! Also thanks to one of your other videos I now do ALL of my piecing with my walking foot and it has amazing results! Thanks so much for all of your great advice!
Need a little help. Do you have to start in the middle of the quilt with a walking foot or can you star at one end and work your way to the opposite in after you pinned it together ??. The quilt is Lap size??
Really helpful tips! Now I just wish I could find a clear walking foot that would go on my Janome - I don't think the company has them. I'd like to see a little better where I'm going, though. Or maybe where I've been.
Sometimes different brand walking foots (feet?) work with different machines. I have a Brother machine but my walking foot is a Singer (it was on sale and I'm a sucker for a bargain). They should say what type of machine they are compatible with (ex. low shank) and at the end of the day you can buy one and try it and if it doesn't work, return it.
I really like your style and information, Thank you. I have to say, only because it will keep me from watching is the background music! Especially when you are talking.
Hello, Hope all is well I was trying to take the walking foot class mentioned in the video, but it seems Blueprint is no longer accepting new students. Is there another option?
I have Bernette and Baby lock machines. Both with walking feet leave different gaps under the feet. The bernette leaves very little space under the walking foot, where the baby lock leaves more space which fir me makes it easier to quilt overall. Why are there such differences in spacing under the walking feet?
I hate my walking foot. It's noisy and uneven! ' I have rethreaded, put new needles in, new bobbin in, tension. Omg everything. I have given up and got wine.
Please help there is a straight quilting stitch that im using with my walking foot. It says reinforcement. It shouldnt need reforcement stitches because it is a quilting stitch right? Machine brother SL5000.
I hadn't even considered using the decorative stitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so pumped!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
I never knew I could quilt a design by using the designs on the machine. That is very valuable information. Thank you.

That was fun, who would have thought to use the simple decorative stitches built into our machines to quilt with. Not me, but now I know. 😉
Extraordinary. Thanks so much for your clarity of mind. It is helping us all. Appreciation from Be’er Sheva, Israel
THANK YOU.....Got my juki tl 2000qi walker foot on by watching your video, just gout my juki yesterday! Love it already!

Hi Angela. Thanks for all your tips. I love your videos. Can you tell me if your walking foot would fit on any other brand of sewing machine? Thanks.
Angela? Can you show how you add the borders? The quilt is so big that it drags.
Thank you❤❤❤
Thank you! ❤️
Hi Angela. What machine do you use at home? Is there any that you recommend for home quilting? My little machine is just not able to freemotion.
Really helpful tips! Now I just wish I could find a clear walking foot that would go on my Janome - I don't think the company has them. I'd like to see a little better where I'm going, though. Or maybe where I've been.

I just bought a guide bar for my walking foot to keep my lines even/straight.
Hi I love all your videos informative fun and funny. I was wondering what machine are you using in this video?
Is the feed dog up or down when you use the walking foot for quilting? Thank you for your help.
I really like your style and information, Thank you. I have to say, only because it will keep me from watching is the background music! Especially when you are talking.
Hi Angela, when using walking foot, you don’t have to drop the feed dog on your machine? I really appreciate your response. Thank you

Do I baste the layers before quilting?
Hello, Hope all is well I was trying to take the walking foot class mentioned in the video, but it seems Blueprint is no longer accepting new students. Is there another option?
Hi, where do you get the walking foot? I have a babylock presto 2. I want to buy a walking foot for it. 👍

Wow!, It's you! I love your show!
Hi! What brand of machine at you using here?
I find walking feet at all prices. Is more expensive different and better ?
Hola me gustaría que mostraras las medidas de los cuadros que cortas al inicio de cada video por favor, saludos ♥️
Which walking foot attachment are you using?
How does the back look
What does the back look like? I did Two rows and puckered. Show the back next time. Thanks.
Can you back stitch with a walking foot?
Do you drop your feed dogs
No, do not drop the feed dogs while using a walking foot. Only drop them for free motion quilting.
Do u put feed dogs down
I hate my walking foot. It's noisy and uneven! '
I have rethreaded, put new needles in, new bobbin in, tension. Omg everything. I have given up and got wine.
try cleaning out the bobbin area - dust and lint there cause sewing problems....
Quilt on back bunches up :(
Hi Angela. How are you. How is your husband? Sending prayers.
Hes foing very well, thanks so much for asking. He's on the mend and we are ready for everything to get back to normal!
