I wonder if that little compressor you have onboard now could also be set up with some sort of airline that can be used for airing up tires if you need to. That might be overkill but it would still be super cool to have.
@@ferdinand9103 I wouldn't have thought a compressor that small could either, but a week ago I bought this super cheap tiny compressor to deal with a slow leak in my crappy tires and its tiny and somehow still does the job. Although truck tires have a lot more volume so I'm not sure how a pump like that would hold up the one I got for my car can unfortunately only add about 3psi a minute which is painfully slow. This compressor I have is literally the size of a soup can through its rediculous.
Having worked at a dealership in the rust belt, I saw many of those license plate mounts/nozzles rust. So I'd recommend doing something to protect those!
Air bags are a definite improvement to eliminate sag. However they still don't return the weight back to the front axles with the trailer hooked up. Your rear axle is still acting as a fulcrum. The only way to accomplish this is with a weight distribution hitch. I run both to make sure the proper weight is returned to the front axles to retain proper braking and steering control, especially in wet conditions. Not as critical if you don't tow that often with lighter loads. But I tow alot, often maxing out the tow capacity of the truck and for long distances. Just a point to be mindful of.
if you get a MTB air pump you can easily use it instead of a compressor to fill air bags with 7-10 pumps. its so easy and saves a lot of money. Ive used it on a range rover that has 4 separate fill valves. also, if you use a compressor with outside air, buy a new descant bead and filter kit every 2 years and also can buy refurb kits. if you need to disconnect a line, cut 1/3" off end of line and press in completely to ensure a clean connection. so ensure you leave extra line where lines connect to bags or valve blocks. Air suspension is the best. I have it on 3 cars/trucks and its the best ride of all.
Another awesome video on the truck build. That term you were looking for is called "Bucking". It's where the truck feels like it's being jerked back when you hit a bump.
I didn’t see in other comments but I installed these bags on 2015 Sierra and I was able to get compressor with independent control for each side. Still works great 5 years later and it’s nice to load level side to side.
woah woah woah was that robbie hinting that he will have 2 lifts cause he will have the space for 2 hinting at he may have already found the right house???!
One hack I learned about when towing a trailer is to inflate your rear tires to their maximum pressure. (I assume most of you knew that, but I didn’t). It makes a hell of a difference, especially through the big bumps when the trailer tries to try to pull itself off.
Thanks for posting. I Bought a 2022 Chevy Silverado High Country 2500 HD with Duramax Diesel. Going to bag it. Air lift looks like a great kit, and easy install.
im honestly gonna cry. if i have to be 100 i would say that its just hit me how far youve come. im so proud of you and this channel and will always love you and these videos.
if you change a car's suspension from factory to air bags, or adjustables - do you not need a cert (inspection to ensure its safe) before being road legal in Canada? you have to get a 'cert' plate in NZ if you change it in New Zealand.
That license plate idea is dope. I might get bags now and do that. I probably won’t get the management system cuz I’m cheap. You gotta let me know if it takes out some of the jerkiness when bumper towing
Does it have an extra air fitting for a potential auxiliary gauge? I've been looking at this air system for my 07 nnbs and I wanna run a 2 in 1 air gauge to monitor airbag pressure and tank pressure in an air horn i wanna buy, your info would be incredibly helpful, since I can't seem to find any information on it otherwise. Also, I love watching your videos, watching you work really gave me a bunch of different ideas for cool stuff to do and I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us
@@IllegallyAcquiredKIA nothing more terrifying than blowing a main line, from rubbing the frame, on a bagged only vehicle while driving down the interstate...
Make some cover for this compressor thingy on the frame. Some bent sheet metal over it or something. Just to protect it from water, dirt and all the crap on the road
I would recommend making a cover for the compressor. So that you don't get it covered in crap. As you can see your frame rail is all covered in crap. Same will happend to that.
You just built the truck that is exactly what I would want as my dream truck! All the way down to the color!! Beautiful vehicle man.And that suspension is to die for
That’s sick. Now I’m curious what the ram set up looks like. Prob close to the same. Would you potentially need new shocks after installing bags? Just thinking they could maybe over extend if you set 100lbs with no load.. maybe..?
I completely understand the rear bags leveling out the truck from "squatting". My question is ... if I were to buy a 2022 silverado 2500 2WD, would I be able to install a set of bags that would help with the "squatting" problem BUT ALSO allow me to lower the truck a bit to make it easier to load/unload motorcycles in back of bed? I load bikes regularly, and with the tailgate down, the newer silverados are HIGH off the ground and difficult to walk/step up into the bed from the ground. But if I could somehow "lower" the truck while I load it, and then set the truck at proper ride height & roll out, that would be good. Possible?
For the little bit Robbie put at the end of the video, coming from a guy who works in a shop if you have a wheel lock on your car before you leave make sure you have it in your car. Personally I have a bad habit of leaving them on my box but I usually put them back 95% of the time but that 5% is enough to check before you leave.
how's did it affect driving empty with the airbags? i had them on my 2019 silverado 5.3 and hated the ride, don't know if i did something wrong on the install but it was stiff even without air

You should figure out a way to run the unused air line to the spare tire valve stem to make it easy to air it up till its needed, idek if thats possible😂
How’s the ride quality riding with minimum psi and no load? I’ve seen comments on forums that ride gets real bumpy after install and it feels rough. I got a 19 Silverado 1500 and want to get these but unsure. Thanks for any input!
Thats been a thing for a long time, and its primarily used for towing or lowering the rear end to make loading things in the bed easier. RAM even has it as an option from factory now.
Wow i never realized how much ive been a part of this journey until that 10min brz build 😭

I have the same setup on my 15 Silverado from the lift kit to the bags and I love it
Adding more leaf springs helps it also
These bags won’t be affected in the winter with the cold weather?
The schrader valves holding the license plate is killer good work Robbie!
Could use the second valve stem to put air into a bubble under the truck and could use it to fill ur tires

You shud connect that compressor to that other valve so you can use it to "fill tyres" at track or what ever you might want to do with air
Great content. Just some advice tho. Throw a UPR dual valve catch can on too help avoid building up carbon deposits on the intake valves
If you get a new receiver get a b and w tow and stow there super nice and adjustable and out of way when not in use

I'd recommend making a splash guard for the compressor assembly so that you don't have any water getting into the compressor when it's running
Yes I’m here
Robbie!? The spacers you bought for the airbags did you do straight or angled???? Doing same build
Do these air bags stretch enough when the axle goes all way down on a lifter?
You need a leveler tool so can see if its level and a roll up tannel cover
Self tapped? Is it still secure?
Any rust proofing you plan on doing? The bolts drilled into frame rail and exposed compressor make me nervios

Mate get a extension so that you can inflate tyres on the side of the road from the compresser.
Be sure to wrap any line that could rub metal in split wire loom. It'll keep you from rupturing a line while driving. Ask me how I know 😅

You would have to lower the rear of the truck so without air the rear is the angle you want it. Wouldn't recommend it.
The plate bolt as a stem is really clever, ever thought of making a water tank in the back bumper like Jeeps?
