    ...that's an interesting and informative video on air suspension system. I once owned a 1990 Lincoln Continental, that had a built in air suspension system from the factory. I got it from a friend in 2005. The air pressure would regularly fail, due to an air leak in the system and every morning I would find the rear end sitting on the floor, because the airbag would lose air overnight. I never could figure it out, I just figured the system was getting old. One day while the car was jacked up, the air compressor proceeded to air up the system, the rear left wheel airbag blew up, while the car was on jack stands. Don't ask me why. 😂 The system was on it's last leg, when I got the car, it was free anyway. 😂
    Anyway, I eventually replaced all the struts/airbag units from the factory, with coil struts from a Ford Taurus, that I obtained from a salvage yard. The whole swap cost me about $40. I also pulled out the air compressor, and gave it all away. FYI, the rear coils on those struts, from a Taurus, aren't strong enough to carry a Continental, you need stiffer ones, but they worked up until 2009.
    After looking at this video, I'm wondering if I could have fixed the airbag problem on the Continental with Check valves, which would have prevented any one single airbag from releasing all the air, that was stored in the airlines to each pair of bags.
    I eventually stopped driving that Continental in 2009-2010, I literally abandoned it, at an empty parking lot. 😂

      There's a switch in the trunk to cut the air suspension off and some were on the passenger foot well. I've repaired in the past a million of those systems. Back in the day the Stealership(Dealership) would charge $800 per side to fix it when all it be is an O-ring leaking air on the airline. A spray bottle filled with water and dishwashing liquid was my friend in finding the leak EASILY.

      Bags should NEVER be connected in parallel, worst case scenario being on the same axle. As LNM Performance correctly pointed out, when turning, the center of gravity will tend to keep going straight, thus creating the natural rolling effect on the car. Rolling 'toward' the outer wheels will compress the outer curve bags, which will send the air exactly to the inner curve bags, therefore AMPLIFYING the roll !! This is a recipe for DISASTER. In the least, will bring the OPPOSITE of safety conditions in cornering. Please consider this with much care, even more so, with the notorious view numbers.. Thank you.

    • @moronoqg
      @moronoqg 4 роки тому +3

      Take a look at this article, credits included :
      " Two-Way Versus Four-Way
      When air suspension was first introduced to hot rodders in the mid-'90s, a two-way control system was the standard method of inflating and deflating the suspension. In other words, both air springs on each axle were hooked together. This kept things simple, requiring only one control valve per axle. However, it quickly became apparent that during cornering, the outside (or loaded) air spring tried to transfer air to the inside (unloaded) spring, magnifying body-roll issues. Sometimes the problem can be minimized on a light car by installing big antisway bars, but nowadays, nearly everyone uses a four-way system, which plumbs and controls each airbag separately. Although this requires an individual control valve and air line for each spring, it cures all air-transfer problems, plus it allows precise control over vehicle ride height to compensate for varying weight, suspension bind, or alignment changes. "

    That relay is what causes compressor to fail. It's really too small. Use a PAC solenoid. Yes, it's more money, but it will save you hours of head scratching as to why compressors keep burning up. Or why relays are melting. I learned this trick years ago. And I've never lost another compressor ever since then. No matter how small or cheap the compressor may be.

    I would suggest rethinking your valve setup...its not that much more to add a few valves and have control. My setup i had 8 smc 3/8 valves. 4 fill and 4 dumps. You can wire them to have 2 lift the from at the same time and rear etc. I had issues with tying in one line to 2 bags...my truck rode like crap. The extra valves dramatically improved ride quality.

    This is so cool. How much does the compressor draw? Im guessing not too much, as the wires are not too big. Compared to amplifier Wire

      @@wideband Okay thanks. Im thinking if I could manage to bag my 1991 Mitsubishi Galant. But its difficult to find the parts for less than thousands of dollars where I live. And I need help from someone to make the cylinders to make it fit my car.

    Doing any project no matter how much $$ you have or willing to put. Make it upgradeable and plan for the worst. Accidents and breakage.

      You can make anything work if you want it bad enough. Check the measurements and holes and it may tell you.

    And most of them in my country are coming from airslamit. Com are they good or after sometime it's creating a problem and youll be stranded 😅😅😅
