    • @mantis1s1k
      @mantis1s1k 7 років тому +17

      I leave it at 150 and compensate... if they're in or near the same objective as I am, I aim for the chest and usually get a head (or at least neck) shot. If I'm shooting into a neighboring objective I don't have to compensate near as hard as I would if it were at 75.

      Gamblerscop 75 is good for most encounters but if your trying to get long range kills 300 and you still gotta aim above a good distance like 600 plus meters the drop is too great for 75

  • @daltonvillnave8601
    @daltonvillnave8601 7 років тому +12

    reading the comments im kinda shocked by everybody asking if you can just leave it at 300... do you not understand ballistics? to make a longer shot you aim higher. if you keep that same point of aim and try to hit a close target you'll go way over the top. I recommend watching some ballistics basics videos for those of you that have never shot before. bullets travel in an arc, not a straight line.

    • @matthewgall5049
      @matthewgall5049 7 років тому

      Dalton Villnave bullets do travel in a straight line for a certain distance, the bullets start to arc after they lose velocity. depending on the round, and barrel length will determine when the bullet starts to arc.

    • @daltonvillnave8601
      @daltonvillnave8601 7 років тому +5

      Double Mischief bullets are never travelling in a straight line unless they are in a zero-gravity vacuum in space. gravity will always affect them, as will the air, and a number of other factors. bullets drop regardless of their velocity. rate of drop is affected by their velocity. the more time gravity has to work it's magic, the more drop you'll see. but at no point does gravity not have an effect, regardless of speed.

    • @WanderingWonderer10
      @WanderingWonderer10 7 років тому

      Double Mischief D: boooooo You're on UA-cam, go watch one of the ~4 million videos on sighting in your optics. Not being rude but you're misinformation will confuse many who don't do their own follow up.

    • @jorge8596
      @jorge8596 6 років тому

      Olek_Gannon bullet drop is actually higher in bf1 than in real life, in real life the gravity is 9.8m/s^2 while in the game it is 12m/s^2 also the muzzle velocity is the real life muzzle velocity in all weapons, so I wouldn't complain about it, I prefer having real muzzle velocity compensated by a little higher gravity over having super slow muzzle velocity insnipers with real gravity (like in older bf titles)

  • @a-609
    @a-609 7 років тому +49

    finally someone did a video about this, thank you! Was hoping you'd go just a little more in depth. For example, what if someone was like 90-200m away (somewhere in-between two of the cycles), which distance to adjust to/where to shoot/etc. BTW, the distance to the objectives points doesn't show in my game :S is it something i turn on from the settings? Great tip, would definitely help a lot.

    • @hvk357
      @hvk357 7 років тому +4

      He pretty much said all that was needed to be said. If its between 0-100m i would do 75m. 100-175m, 150m. 176- above i would go 300m. Like he said just practice and you'll get better at judging the distance, what scope to use & how much to lead the shot. There isn't a definitive answer to your question as every sniper is different.

    • @a-609
      @a-609 7 років тому

    A bullet is dropped from a hand while simultaneously being fired from a rifle at the same height, which bullet hits the ground first?
    Answer: Both hit the ground at the same time, both are affected by the same vertical force, gravity

    • @markgery644
      @markgery644 7 років тому +4

      maybe in a vacuum, but out in the real world it would not happen like that. Wind resistance and other factors take affect. That's like saying a 10 lb weight and a 50 lb weight will hit the ground at the same time. Only in a vacuum will that happen.

    • @youngjedi9199
      @youngjedi9199 7 років тому

      Mark gery a 10lb weight v a 50lb weight would not be noticeable in terms of what dropped first, especially the same size.

    One thing that's been helping me judge distance when time is critical is learning the physical size of the enemy in my sights at different ranges. Works fairly well in a pinch, but changing magnification settings does mess with judgement. Just a thought.

    this is actually quite helpful. I'm not a novice to the game, I'm well versed in the theory of how scopes, bullet drop ect work but this was well explained and really put the game in perspective thank you :) could you maybe do one on how to use the lines on the left of the scope to rangefind? I can't see anything about them but I know it's supposed to help you 0 your scope. :)

    When are we getting a montage? Community montage? Top 10? Any other series other than learning to snipe? Maybe find a class/weapon your bad with and do a series like that or challenges? Just throwing stuff out since I know you have a whole year ahead of you

    Great work! Simple.. But effective. Would like to see someone doing more in-depth analysis of compensating for shots as you wont always land a headshot the first time.

    • @TheAverageSniper
      @TheAverageSniper  7 років тому

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed. If the target is standing still and you know the distance you will probably get that headshot. If they are moving it's a whole different story. You have to guess where they will be and take a chance.

    Thanks helped a lot. I always over compensated for the bullet drop and it ended up going way over their heads

    The little lines in the upper left area of the scope are range, and in the real world if a person would fit between two lines in the scope that would be their range, for example if you lined up a person in the scope and they fit between the little space between the right most line and the scope line, that would be 300 meters, now if it works this way in game or not I haven't tried yet.

    Thank you so much for this vid! I'm a cod noob and bf1 is my first experience with Battlefield's combat system since bad company 2, and I was quite confused about random numbers in the bottom of my screenLiked and subbed, and I look forward to more bf1 vids :)

    You should added also what happens when trying to shoot close with high range (like 300m). Like aiming at the chest result in a headshot and such. Just for fun purposes (and the times when you sniping far range and get caught off guard by a nearby enemy)

    • @TheAverageSniper

      I would have but I had no idea how many didn't realize that changing the scope makes the bullet go higher, therefore missing targets at closer ranges.

    my rule of thumb GENERALLY is just keep the adjustment at 150 up close i doesn't change much its already set for medium range engagements and i rarely waste time going for 400+ shots

    Once upon a time I was running along on a Western Front map, I think it was St. Quentins Scar, and I randomly looked at a town when I was running along on a hill. For some random shits and giggles, and perhaps a lucky spot, I tried to spot. Suddenly, a little red icon for an Assault pooped up in the middle of my screen.
    I took my SMLE Infantry, and took a potshot. Somehow, I hit the guy. I fired like twice more, missed. Then I fired again and I killed him.
