It has more in common with BF42 and BF2, that's why. Less weapons, more "variants", armor and planes that are powerful but only 100% effective with more than one person. The only thing it's missing, that I wish it had, was the asymmetrical kit and gear.

If you really want the full world war 1 experience. Dig a trench in your garden throw a raincoat and helmet on. Turn the sprinklers on. Then go and sit in it for 2 weeks making sure to never pop your head up. Congrats! 90% of the world war 1 experience! Sadly my great grandfather couldn't do this. He couldn't take it anymore and wanted to see if there was actually anybody there. As his squad had dug in for almost 8 days without moving or doing anything. And he popped his head up to look and lost his ear immediately. A few centimeters over and my entire family line would never have existed. So close. And he never would speak about the war. My dad said his entire childhood he nagged him about it. And he would never tell them anything. My great grandmother said a huge part of him died when he went to fight. He lost a lot of friends and probably did some stuff that stayed with him forever. A sad, and scary time.
Winterfell SMLE MKIII Carbine is my favorite :) it's really good at close and med range which makes it's a aggressive gun at close combat I discovered this gun on the first campaign mission of the runner then I realised that the mission was Australian and I'm Australian too COINCIDENCE

A little bit of advice, you can also get your distance from a target by using the trench periscope. There's a bar on the right side with a number that indicates how many meters you are from whatever the + is placed over.
I often see a lot of people dying in the open, if you're running medic class and you like to play a little aggressive with your revives, smoke grenades can be a perfect tool for you. As well as the common scenario where your team is pinned down in the open, just sitting in craters, one of you throws a smoke grenade, and suddenly the snipers have a much harder time taking you down.

sycoticdog I think it's supposed to represent how a bullet travels too close, it'll be going to fast and go straight through without breaking up, squashing inside the body too far, it'll fragment and squash *before* penetrating the body, and just leave a relatively shallow splash wound

And I always fucking hit the enemy for 94 or 99 dmg and they hide behind a rock, and because everyone plays medic in this game they're pretty much always healed before I finish them
i honestly think sniping's at its best in any battlefield right now. yea its pretty easy compared to BF4 but everything about it is so good, the headshots, the sounds, the animations, the reloads, everything is just amazing.
so I just redownloaded Battlefield one because I had the urge to play it. The first game I joined into, i ran 10 ft forward got sniped I then proceeded to equip smoke grenades and spawn on an objective. immediately i was suppressed by a sniper, I threw my smoke grenades towards the sniper then got shot by another sniper to the other side of me. I respawned yet again on the far side of the map trying to flank towards an uncontested objective halfway there I was sniped by someone all the way at the end of the map by the enemy Spawn sitting on a hill behind a bush. I respawned on one of my squad mates that was about to enter a fight, the gunfight was pretty crazy it was probably three of us and three of them and then more of our teammates ran to help and the same with their side and once there was only about 4 of us left and 1 of them, two snipers on the other side of the map killed all of my teammates that were there including me. I then proceeded to exit the game and delete Battlefield 1 for the same reason I deleted it in the first place
The Gewehr M.95 marksman and sniper are my favorite faster bullet trajectory meaning quicker kills , It's a beautiful rifle like you said Jack DICE nailed the animation .
wisp yeah, same for me. It only happened to me today I just think it's the servers that might be under maintenance or they can't handle how many people are playing. Just wait awhile until they upgrade their servers.
Superb job mate! This is exactly what i was lookng for, i'm currently playing a lot with the Gewehr 98 Sniper, and so far is my fav bc of the bullet velocity. Most snipers feel slow af when targeting long range enemies.
The Gewehr 95 doesn't have a 100 damage sweet spot, it can only do a maximum of 90 damage to the upper torso, and as such is not a 1 hit kill rifle to the upper torso if the enemy is full HP. You might be hitting people who are less than 100HP or maybe you are just always getting headshots (which is good of course) !
FYI, here are all the sweet spot range for the snipers if you are too lazy Martini-Henry: 30-80M SMLE MKIII: 40-75M Russian 1895: 60-100M Gewehr 98: 80-125M M1903: 100-150M

Can anyone confirm which scopes have glint ? Is it like BF4 were low magnification scopes like ACOG x4 don't have glint give away showing to your enemy ?
Any scope with a 4x or lower magnification has no glint (so telescopic/optic/marksman). However, Sniper scopes (above 4x) do not show glint in foggy/rainy weather conditions.
Protip: The glint on snipers is off when you're not zoomed in/looking through the scope... only comes on when you look through. It has around 15-20 degree visibility from the sides (so around 30-40 deg visibility total) & fades off if the angle is wider. Enjoy ;-)
I haven't gotten this game yet but from what I've seen, I have a question. Is there bullet drop because the sniper shots seem to just go in a straight line
still drop yes but it's less as the bullet velocity is more accurate, plus you can re zero your rifle for different distances so the scope crosshair moves to account for longer distances. you no longer have to aim higher for long range shots.
actually most american/english people know what gewehr means because they tend to love weapons and theres several weapons that keep their german name (sturmgewehr 44, Gewehr 98, Panzergewehr etc) and yes i am german :D
ComputersAreRealCool Marksman is the shooter, the Sniper rifle his gun. But in this case it means Marksman: High zoom level, naked sniper rifle: iron sights
The marksman variants have a shorter scope with 2-4x magnification, the sniper variants have a longer 5-10x (adjustable in the customisation menu). Carbine variants have the prototype optical iron sight type things. Infantry has bare iron sights.
What gun in the world has less power at the muzzle then it does at 50 -100M out? Weapons I.E. Firearms have the most velocity and foot pounds of energy at the muzzle Take a look at the .50 BMG ( This was invented in WWI) This round can produce between 10,000 and 15,000 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle (between 14 and 18 kilojoules), depending on its powder and bullet type, as well as the weapon it was fired from, but this Firearm and all other Firearms will never do more damage or hit harder after it leaves the muzzle. I don't know why Dice would produce weapons class with these attributes to do the most damage at a certain distance, non of the other weapons have this same feature, nor has any other battlefield as far as I know.
The Telescope Sights (or whatever this sniper gadget is called in english) is also a perfect way to see how far away an enemy is. This helps me with long range shots when the enemy doesnt stand near a flag.
Lee Enfield Infantry is a beautiful rifle in BF1, I have only been playing for a week, but it is an amazing firearm especially when you are in a relatively far position but are defending and need to put rounds down range very quickly, the best.
Could you do a video on K bullets ? As of right now I see no use of them over other, better scout gadgets. Do you fire them at tanks ? planes ? elite classes ?
In conquest if you are ptfo as a scout they're a must! very useful to help assault taking out tank as you can prevent them from repairing and alone you cand do 30/40 damage to a tank
I prefer longer ranges currently my longest shot is around 402m in the beta but in the full game it's 337m I use the M1903 Sniper I think it's called and it's amazing for head shots and it's super smooth and accurate. If you like picking people off from across the map that's my recommendation.
+Dani Blabla Well the sweet spot mechanic doesn't really make much sense. It promotes not going for headshots and going for the bigger target to get oneshots more easily. Also, whats that balance bullshit? Back in BF3, they added in a mechanic that would instantly kill anyone getting hit by a bolt action sniper rifle upclose to the torso, meaning that it was dangerous going upclose to a sniper if he manages to hit you in the torso.
great video! showing the stats helped put everything into perspective. i only play on scout classes and I've been using the M.95 carbine for now and i really love it as well. Its not the most powerful, but its fast rechambering and good hip fire accuracy make for a great line gun or trench gun.
As my clan's #2 Sniper, my load out is: Gewehr 98 for most sniping. I love it for long range work, 300+ metres, using the beam, or post, scopes. For PTFO, I like the Russian 1895 Infantry, or Lawrence of Arabia's SMLE. The 1895 Sniper variant, is good for mid range sniping, such as Amiens, at least in my opinion.

I would like to know as well. He mentions the marksman scope has no glint but I'm not sure that's true or not.
Any scope with a 4x or lower magnification has no glint (so telescopic/optic/marksman).
However, Sniper scopes (above 4x) do not show glint in foggy/rainy weather conditions.

Protip: The glint on snipers is off when you're not zoomed in/looking through the scope... only comes on when you look through. It has around 15-20 degree visibility from the sides (so around 30-40 deg visibility total) & fades off if the angle is wider. Enjoy ;-)

its Lambo yes. however it's very little compared to bf4 (snipers)

You now also have bullet drag so long range shots is still hard.
still drop yes but it's less as the bullet velocity is more accurate, plus you can re zero your rifle for different distances so the scope crosshair moves to account for longer distances. you no longer have to aim higher for long range shots.

The marksman variants have a shorter scope with 2-4x magnification, the sniper variants have a longer 5-10x (adjustable in the customisation menu).
Carbine variants have the prototype optical iron sight type things.
Infantry has bare iron sights.
marksman has a scope sniper ahs a scope and a bipod.

Take a look at the .50 BMG ( This was invented in WWI) This round can produce between 10,000 and 15,000 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle (between 14 and 18 kilojoules), depending on its powder and bullet type, as well as the weapon it was fired from, but this Firearm and all other Firearms will never do more damage or hit harder after it leaves the muzzle.
I don't know why Dice would produce weapons class with these attributes to do the most damage at a certain distance, non of the other weapons have this same feature, nor has any other battlefield as far as I know.

The Telescope Sights (or whatever this sniper gadget is called in english) is also a perfect way to see how far away an enemy is.
This helps me with long range shots when the enemy doesnt stand near a flag.

Lee Enfield Infantry is a beautiful rifle in BF1, I have only been playing for a week, but it is an amazing firearm especially when you are in a relatively far position but are defending and need to put rounds down range very quickly, the best.

Pyke anti tank, they seem powerful enough to me. In a pinch they can be used as a 1 hit kill to any infantry at any range
they're good for interrupting the quick repair cycle of a tank, if a vehicle takes any damage during quick repair the cycle stops.
In conquest if you are ptfo as a scout they're a must! very useful to help assault taking out tank as you can prevent them from repairing and alone you cand do 30/40 damage to a tank

I prefer longer ranges currently my longest shot is around 402m in the beta but in the full game it's 337m I use the M1903 Sniper I think it's called and it's amazing for head shots and it's super smooth and accurate. If you like picking people off from across the map that's my recommendation.

Well the sweet spot mechanic doesn't really make much sense. It promotes not going for headshots and going for the bigger target to get oneshots more easily. Also, whats that balance bullshit?
Back in BF3, they added in a mechanic that would instantly kill anyone getting hit by a bolt action sniper rifle upclose to the torso, meaning that it was dangerous going upclose to a sniper if he manages to hit you in the torso.
The German Mason it is lethal to go close to a sniper because the pistols are nearly as powerful as shotgun lol

great video! showing the stats helped put everything into perspective. i only play on scout classes and I've been using the M.95 carbine for now and i really love it as well. Its not the most powerful, but its fast rechambering and good hip fire accuracy make for a great line gun or trench gun.
As my clan's #2 Sniper, my load out is: Gewehr 98 for most sniping. I love it for long range work, 300+ metres, using the beam, or post, scopes. For PTFO, I like the Russian 1895 Infantry, or Lawrence of Arabia's SMLE. The 1895 Sniper variant, is good for mid range sniping, such as Amiens, at least in my opinion.

Yupp. Shotgun users and scouts with iron sights are the worst. I swear, besides squad leaders not giving orders and medics not reviving when they have the revive tool, the whole "75% of the team being scouts" thing is a big fucking problem.

+ it's a bolt gun, 1 miss shot in close range and you are pretty much dead.
