I've been trying to figure out how to do this for weeks, and this is the first video that actually explains the process of installing laminate on stairs well. Thanks so much!
Hi, good idea, but why we doing square noses, because easy to make from prefinished floors ( hardwood, laminate and vinyl as well). Bull nose you can make only from unfinished wood. Also if you’re making square nose colours matching with floor because from the same material, if you are making bull nose from unfinished wood you have to match colour and finish. It’s hard…
Im not sure which thickness of that floor ur showing here .. Is it a half of the inch so 12mm or is it 8 mm ? And i dont want to cut off carpet nose so my question is ... Will 8mm laminate be strong enough for that custom nosing ?
Also ... I realised that once i started cutting planks for stairs even using tread template to make sure i get a clean perfect cut i ran into a problem.. The begining of a stair close to a raiser looks good then middle itsbowing out and end of a stair is straight .. And that's putting tread template to see ... I dont care if angle its not even cause i got the tread template .. But its not straiggt thru out the whole lenght.m. the middle either bows out or in .. Any suggestions ? Pls help

Here are 3 ideas about how to make your stairs prep for hardwood or laminate floor installation. If you have your own ideas or suggestions, please leave them here, in the comments!
Highland Hiker, all you learned is how not to do stairs in the proper way. His prep work is okay , however, its against all codes to install t&g for treads. Must be one piece with a round over edge. I wish this guy would stop spreading his practice. It works, but doesn't make it proper.
A very talented man,I have watched all his videos and learned a lot
Thanks and keep up with the videos 😀
Thank you so much, my friend!

Hi Chris, for hardwood this idea is good but for 8mm laminate I would recommend you build out riser.
