  • We were so excited to decorate for our first Christmas that we started a little early this year. We spend most of the day shopping at different stores for the perfect decorations, then we made our apartment all cozy for the winter. Maui was VERY interested in everything and has been trying to take the ornaments off since we put it up😅
Thank you so much for watching!
Wishing everyone had a great Thanksgiving!🍂🍁

I had my wedding dress turned into a tree skirt. Absolutely love seeing it each Christmas and it looks like a blanket of snow below the tree. Our ornaments are from all of our family vacations and special ones we get our kids each year.

A Christmas tradition we started the first year we were married was to purchase 1 hallmark ornament each year that had some memory from the year. For instance if we got a new dog or new house we would get that ornament there are some other ornaments that I would let the kids pick out. Now we have been married 34 years we remember each year as we put up the tree. Hopefully I can pass these down to my kids one day and they will remember this tradition. Happy first Christmas 🎄

We have always done the samething. So we now have 16 special Hallmark ornaments. (Actually a couple more than 16, I got new baby ones with each child, and first Christmas for each child).

We bought a special ornament every year to highlight what happened during the year(new baby, new pet) it's so fun to look at all of them every year. We've been married 25 years and we love looking at all of our memories every Christmas.

I use a tree skirt, but I’ve seen super cute metal baskets that people put their trees in! Also cute tradition my boyfriend & I do, we get each other an ornament every year that either reminds us of each other or something they enjoy! My sister does paw prints of her dogs each year & her and her husband have a tree dedicated just to their pups!

Happy Thanksgiving Trace and Lydia from Phoenix Arizona, our first Christmas was in Colorado Springs CO, my husband Terry was in the Army and we where at Fort Carlson Army base. We could not go home (Kentucky) for Christmas so we had soldiers over for dinner that had no family to celebrate Christmas Day so we became family. I was 4 months pregnant and it was my first time away from home for the holidays so I cried a lot when I was alone so my husband would not feel bad. Terry and I have been married 40 years this coming February and he is my best friend. I love watching your channel and you both are in my daily thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️

My husband and I have bought a new ornament every year since we started dating and we write the year on it. Then, when we had kids, we did the same for them and now our 1st grandson, of course, with their names and year on it.. A tradition that I pray my kids carry on with their families!!!

We are hardcore about decorating after Thanksgiving.
It’s a tradition the whole family. (5 kids and honey and I) get in on.
My twin girls do an advent calendar count down every year.
We decorated gingerbread houses and do lots of baking as our traditions.
Enjoy making your own traditions as a married couple.
Jesus is the reason we celebrate! Keep that as your center and you will never go wrong or be overbooked for this wonderful season.

Great job, beautiful tree! Thanks for sharing this time with me. Tradition from this Ole Lady, I've been married to my High School Sweetheart after I graduated college. We got a first year ornament, I stored it away in a special box of it's own. Then each year after that we would be given a gift of another ornament and if not, we would go pick one out for that that year. Now I have 45 ornaments! One for each year we have been married, This was fun. Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday Jesus.

Our tree was up before Thanksgiving too. Our 1st Christmas, we celebrated Christmas Eve with my husband's Family, and Christmas Day with my Family.
Such cool memories purchasing our tree, and the trimmings for our tree. The most important thing is remembering Christ's Birth, and being together.
We were married Dec. 28th, so we waited almost a year to celebrate our 1st Christmas together as a married couple!
So Thankful for my husband and the 49 years God has given us to share life together!
    We are so blessed!

When we first got married 22 years ago, it was all about older ornaments when we were kids. Now that we have our babies, I changed to each year has a color and theme for the tree but I save the items and reuse for years to come. The only thing we get (in the theme)is we get a new ornament for the year each. Plus we celebrate our loved ones that have passed with their special ornament.

A tradition we started later and WISH we had done earlier was new ornaments every year. We had one engraved with two hearts and our names and wedding date. I’ve also seen people post pictures of keys from each home they lived in with a tag with dates and address written on it. We also made it a holiday tradition to go out the day after Christmas every year with $100 to buy discounted Christmas for the next year.

Mid 1970’s married PFC Marine - income was $900/mo. Yep. Real tree. I think we bought a box of ornaments. We had gotten some candy canes and Peter Paul Mounds/almond joy individually wrapped. We put ornament hooks on them and hung them in the tree. People who came over thought it was so cool. And enjoyed taking candy off the tree. I guess one could say we’ve come a long way since those days. Looks like y’all are doing a great job on your selections. Is it really as close to the day as it sounded? Wow. Merry Ho-Ho-Mas!!

Really cute. Definitely watch your cat. Ours did chew the lights and ruined them but she never climbed the tree. We would love a live tree but struggled to keep it alive so switched to fake. I buy a new ornament for everyone each year. I have 4 kids. We just had our son get married this year and it was fun to hand him his box of ornaments to take to his new home. Enjoy your first Christmas 🎄 I’ve used a tree skirt and blankets. And I usually put the tree up day after Thanksgiving. I also switch the ornaments after Christmas to snowflakes and decorate the house with snowmen then in Feb add hearts and Valentines to it because I think the tree in the winter is cozy. But then I’m ready to take it down for Spring 😊

Crazy it always breaks even, so I guess I know what we were wishing!😉We were also married say after Thankgiving so the bone really makes that day special too. Nov 29th. Tues. will be 42yrs for us! We also had the wishing bone set aside for 2023!

My husband and I decided our first year to do a stocking exchange since we figured that we could get each other gifts anytime of the year or buy stuff as needed. We would pick a store like walmart or ross etc.. And put a timer on (30-45 mins) and shop for the other person, but you have to get them surprise items that would fit in their stocking. Once we got home we would run into separate rooms and then stuff the items in the stocking and then exchange on Christmas! It's a real fun tradition we like doing for our family. God bless you two in your new marriage! 😊

Merry Christmas @Trace&Lydia God bless you both! I have a golden skirt that matches our stockings and goes with many different arays of color of different themes over the years. My favorite tradition, you already started, good job!! Our Christmas tradition is to make or buy a special ornament every year that included the year so we now have them dating back to 1990 on our tree. I like the day of Thankgiving when the whole fam is together and can participate and share in those past memories as they hang those ornaments and the new one. VERY special once you start receiving the hand or foot print of your firtst grandchild!!! So asesome! Nice job you two! I pray it is not to tempting for Maui but nice that you bought the non-breakable ornaments.

It is so nice that Trace will help decorate with you. Most husbands wont. We have had to spray our cats with water also, but not if they are close to the tree. The whole water, and electricity thing. I put the unbreakable ones on the bottom so if my cats play with them they wont break. I also put bells on the bottom for them. Cause they will play. Maybe Trace can build or you can buy a few tall closed storage cabinets with shelves for the shoes, and etc. by the door.

Omw.... First Christmas! What a joy! ♥️
We had no money. So we bought a mini artificial tree. Still have our little tree. It is displayed quite proudly every year next to the huge tree. But we did start a tradition (unknowingly). As we had no money for gifts either, we bought Christmas tree decorations and decided to gift each person, with our names and the year in calligraphy, all beautifully wrapped in tissue paper. 😁
Over the years (close to 30 years now) it has evolved, the decorations have become more grand and expensive and placed into stunning boxes. And also we tend to do a theme now each year and that happened when the babies arrived!
And it is such a joy to us when we see family and friends still use the decorations each year on their Christmas trees.
God bless you both and enjoy your first of many more to come. 💕

My husband and I had the sweetest couples Christmas Eve tradition that started before we were married and lasted for over 30 years, until his death from Esophageal Cancer in March 2019. It was just for the two of us, so it was very special.
We would go out and get a large holiday-flavored cappuccino (or other warm beverage of choice), put Christmas music on the radio, drive around looking at all the decorated houses in our town, and just talk - about the year past, the year coming up, our hopes and dreams, our family, everything. The very last neighborhood we went to was always this one where every house participated just on Christmas Eve. They all had nothing but luminaries lighting the streets, driveways and sidewalks. You had to dim your lights before entering the neighborhood. It was magical!
When we got home, before we went in, we’d say a prayer, then head into the house to finish wrapping last-minute gifts!
I miss that about Christmas more than anything.

We have a tree skirt under our tree. We have mostly hand made decorations on our tree. It fun seeing decorations that the kids made 12 years ago.

The first year we were married we didn't have much so we just used a white sheet as a tree skirt. After that I found a cute fluffy white blanket at the thrift store and we use that for many many years. It looked like real snow when the room is dark and the tree is on.

Buy each other an ornament each year and when you have children buy them one too. We tried to buy something that pertained to that particular year. Our son got married a week before you and it was neat to see all his ornaments on the newlyweds tree when they put theirs up a couple weeks ago.

Your tree turned out beautiful. Every year I purchase a new family ornament for the tree. Something that reminds us of a special trip or event from the year. I also purchase a new ornament for each of our kids every year so when they move out, they have special ornaments representing all the past years to hang on their own tree. 🌲

Looks great! I recommend a tree collar with cats. They like to play in and sleep on skirts-blankets and I’m constantly fixing it. As far as tradition, we always get a dated ornament each year.

My mom surprised me one year and made 2 dozen bows from ribbon. Mom would me with mine, she was past all the years of work and enjoyed helping me. She still did decorate, all natural like yours. I went out with her several years helping to cut down garland and bows. We waited to start until the day after Thanksgiving. Then I took it down after about a week in January. I used to like natural but switched to a nice artificial to save trees. I had no place to re plant the real ones.

Get a ornament each year. When you have get them an ornament as well. They become very sentimental as the yrs go by.

Our tradition was to put the decorations up outside on the house and then turn them on Thanksgiving night. We did the tree and inside the house in the first 2 weeks of December.

We have a red & white tree skirt. We usually start the week after Thanksgiving. We always go to a train garden that is at one of our local train stations. Now that the kids are older, we let them put the lights on the tree (they are 19 & 17). They love to do it themselves. Then we all decorate together.

Walmart sells tree skirts for the bottom of the tree.
Our first Christmas tree together was done on Thanksgiving night. We’d add more ornaments as we saw them.
When we were kids Santa brought our tree on Christmas Eve. My mom and dad would decorate it. I LOVE CHRISTMAS 🎄

Need a tree skirt. I have a picture of one of my kittens from years ago laying on a limb near the top. So cute.
