Heated Debate: Should We Hand Back The Crown Jewels? | Good Morning Britain
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лют 2023
- The Queen Consort, Camilla, has opted not to wear the crown that contains the controversial Koh-i-Noor diamond for the King's Coronation.
Royal experts say the decision has been taken to avoid a diplomatic row, as the UK has been in possession of the diamond since the East India Company seized it in 1849.
As India says the diamond "brings back painful memories of the colonial past", is it time for the diamond to be returned back to India - and should we hand back the Crown Jewels to their true owners?

I know this is being treated with humour, but the treatment of Ireland and the Irish is identical to India and all other nations who have been vanquished by stronger nations. While it is a serious issue, we simply need to suck it up and move on. We are no longer victims, whether Indian, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Inca, Malayan etc., etc., we are need to move on and stop looking back. The people who robbed and enslaved our ancestors can never pay back what was taken by their ancestors.
@@PapaJoeWalsh You forgot nigeria though. I agree with you . For some reason , I feel like the british treated Irish better because they are white. I mean obviously it maybe not. But the thing is that Irish people have been under the british for 8 centuries. So most probably they would have known english, use british accent, for cultural stuff. They might have adopted. The british can't really distinguish if someone is Irish or not . Irish then could have an advantage because they are white and can act as british in order to get benefits. To Emma Webb,
Britain first colonize India as a whole, and looted many things out of which one is Kohinoor. Your reason for not returning it back is that whom to give it to India or Pakistan or Afghanistan, whom you yourselves partitioned before independence.
One thing to be noted, there was no Pakistan or Afghanistan (no disrespect) at the time you took it or even at the time it was mined out of the Indian Soil (Probable Mined Location: Andhra Pradesh).
It was possessed by many rulers over the period of time, and that doesn't defy the ownership of the diamond from its actual owner.
It's like you have your Precious Billion Dollars Diamond Jewellery being stolen/gifted by your husband/bf to another girl, and then that girl sells it to someone else, who gift it to their precious one which got stolen by a "middle-eastern person" and sold in to "shady merchant", from whom someone brought it and presented it to my Friend.
And when she goes and check the authenticity form of a legalised Jweller. She got to know about the actual ownership of the Jewellery being YOU!
What should she do now, should she return it back? Or should she keep it for herself just because it was being presented as a gift!?
It was notified to you back by the legalised Jweller, but now both you & your husband are divorced.
So my friend is just holding the Jewellery to herself just to avoid a dispute between "YOU" (who it belongs to, 'coz its "registered on you name") AND "your ex-husband" (who technically brought it for you by his "hard earned efforts"!), Now does her act it justifiable? Do you allow that?

Today, the diamond is on public display in the Jewel House at the Tower of London. The governments of India, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, as well as the Taliban, have all claimed ownership of the Koh-i-Noor, demanding its return ever since India gained independence from the British Empire in 1947.[15] The British government insists the gem was obtained legally under the terms of the Last Treaty of Lahore and has rejected the claims.
In 2018, at the Supreme Court of India the Archeological Survey of India clarified that the diamond was surrendered to the British and "it (the diamond) was neither stolen nor forcibly taken away".

Respect to you Nurinder Kaur love you🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Now India is building biggest museum in the world...so i hope we don't need British to tell us how to take care of Kohinoor.
These thieves took over other lands, looted their properties, enslaved their people on their own lands and sent them in other colonies to workl as slaves, destoryed life for them...justs ee what Australians did to Nauru, they destroyed them!!
There were hundreds of empires throughout history within India too and each was plundering the other whenver they could...but never heard of this giving back business between them 😊😅.
So did the Anglo-Saxons within their country and beyond.
That's because all that stuff is still in India
Colonialism is not same as to kingdom fighting. How dumb u are
ANOTHER EUROPEAN RACIST BS ARGUMENT.. EVERY NATION FIGHTS WITHIN.. STAY IN YOUR OWN.. PROBLEM SOLVED.. GTFO OF AFRICA AND GO BACK TO YOUR LANDS GOD GAVE EVERY RACE..
Yea cuz all of that stuff is in India.
India surpasses Britain in economy and i don’t think the Britain should be worried about how the artifact is to be handled!!!
Kohinoor absolutely belongs to India because it was never gifted and the world knows how the British is used to claiming everything thats not theirs as their property!!!
Kohinoor was found in our soil and British should be ashamed to still keep it and call it a gift, IT SHOULD BE RETURNED!!!
🇮🇳
It was signed over in a treaty so yes it was gifted. Also India isn’t the only one with a claim to the jewel. You mean the U.K. does what everyone else does? Or you mean the U.K. wants to take credit for the things we exploited, made, produced and help to create. For example India itself? Railways etc etc?
@@AdamBowley-yb3kdit was signed after the British tortured and manipulated the crown prince who was a kid to give it to them
@@AdamBowley-yb3kd indian railways were built by briish companies on indian taxpayer money
you didn't do it for free
you literally took our taxpayer money and gave a contract to briish companies to build railways
that was our money on which you built the railways
on top of that you mascred women and children in india multiple times
you made racst statements when people were literally staavng to death
you had racialsegregation in calcutta
and the list goes on
you guys have a patently apalng histry
@@AdamBowley-yb3kd i go around doing a madness with british graves in india. hope some of your ancestors are there too 👀
@@AdamBowley-yb3kdYou help to create by killing and robbing and torturing people??..Trains were not meant to help Indian people.Brists built it to loot Indian assets and Transport it back to UK..We renovate it according to our needs....Stop justifying your own mistakes..And mere child could tell what right and wrong..So annoying..
if there were any jewels forcibly taken they should give it back but if given as a gift then no
I am Indian. The argument was thoroughly entertaining 👏 So do we get the diamond?
On a second thought Britain should keep it.. if we go by the legend.. Kohinoor seems to be working 😂
I'm just curious, don't they feel embarrassed to keep the things that the entire world knows they stole from others. Would be too ashamed to step out of the house. 😂

the indians are right give it back
The gem stone not only the stone so many wealth stolen by mughals & British ruled thieves
Giving them back is the very least we should do
Britain has no shame. Wasting opportunity to atone for their sins by not returning the Kohinoor. I wonder if they have any guilt on their conscience for all the bloodshed and sufferings. Once a landleech is always a landleech.
The Bharat government must change the name of India to BHARAT. The 'Indian' name is also a colonized name that Britishers put on the Bharat country.
That's not true at all. India got it's name due to the Indus valley civilization that existed here. We were called India/Indus way before the colonization, even back in the silk route days, India was a prominent name.
@@wokeydokey6885 Someone who is not familiar with us gave us that name. Indus was given by someone who is not a Bharat-living person who knows who those people are. There is a difference between someone giving you a name based on where you live, like near the Titu River. Titu people.
If all countries keep asking , the British royal family will be on the streets , begging 😂
British museum = chor bazzar 🥱. Thatss ity!
It is a symbol of shame for any Britishers. Indians think that Britishers were looters. Its time to reconsider the black colonial history.
No they don't think that they know that they were looters because that's what they did they were theives
