Technically, it used to be called the Syamantaka Mani, a jewel that is likely from the Times of Lord Krishna. That's the original name, the Koh-i-noor is not an Indic name, it was given by invaders who changed a lot of names in the country.

Whoever grabbed it, their empire got destroyed within a few decades. Such powerful diamonds only belong to temples. Only Gods can handle that power.

The Koh-i-Noor Diamond is a 186 carat diamond with a curse affecting only men. According to folklore, a Hindu description of the diamond warns that “he who owns this diamond will own the world, but will also know all its misfortunes. Only God or woman can wear it with impunity.”

The problem with the Koh-i-Noor is that it is not the Koh-i-Noor. It belongs to the goddess Bhadrakali of Warangal from whom it was stolen by Muslim invaders. It was mined at the Kollur mine in present day Andhra Pradesh. The Muslim invaders named it the Koh-i-Noor, which is it's stolen name.

Palki it's better that the Kohinoor stay always in Britain because if it comes back to India knowing modi and how he is selling India part by part to Adani and Ambani, he will not think for a second about selling it to Adani as long as Adani pumps tens of billions into the BJPs election campaign. By the way India should stop dreaming of the Kohinoor ever coming back, it will NEVER EVER come back to India, anyway there are thousands of other issues that the govt and the citizens should be thinking about instead of this showpiece.
The Kohinoor when taken out of the ground for the 1st time from south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, was 700 something carat, today it's just around 104 carat. But still the most valuable. How much they've damaged Indian things.
