    Dave, as an over-the-counter/PRO "system," these products do an astonishingly good job. The Compound does a terrific job refinishing the paint removing scratches, swirling , and oxidation, but I've been most impressed with the deep shine it leaves, especially on darker colored cars. Even after an ipa wipe down the shine holds. The MAX and FLEX are definitely icing on the cake!

    First off, thank you for taking the time to post this video. Have you had the opportunity to try DIY detail's gold standard polish? The reason I ask is because according to them it's an "All in one" like this turtle wax product. I'm just up in the air on deciding which one I should try. Thanks buddy

      @@rm3-f8k hi, thank you, really appreciate that!
      Unfortunately I haven’t tried that polish so can’t comment on it, but I do know the 1&done is good, I’ve used it a lot 👍🏻
      It will depend on how well known DIY details products are, as if they developed it themselves, might be really good, but if they just buy a “white label” polish and rebrand it, it will probably be rubbish

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  3 роки тому

      No, what I mean is that if you need to spend a little longer on a section than you thought, the stuff won’t dry out on you like a traditional compound might. Getting a result quickly depends on pad and compound choice not just the compound 👍🏻

    Hi kind sir. I just bought a super cheap rotary
    And I'll work with a Mitsubishi so very soft paint too (shes a 2year old, i wash her every 2 weeks)
    Im thinking of using one n done or uno protect
    And also I'll buy a local branded foam pad (not as good as rupes pad i suppose)
    Theres a
    Heavt cut(purple)- medium cut (yellow) - Polishing (orange) - finish (black)
    For using one n done would you suggest like a 2 step yellow -> orange or orange ->black?
    Im planning to polish the car every 4-6monts tho
    Thank you so much

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  2 місяці тому

      @@MoonieTheGrey hi, I’d go with the orange pad to begin with before starting with a harder pad, you may find the orange does the job! If possible, use a dual action (DA) polisher rather than a rotary as the rotary is not beginner friendly and takes more time to perfect.
      Also, if you use a wax or ceramic coat after polishing and use a lot of soap every time you wash the car, you shouldn’t need to polish every 6 months, maybe once a year at most! Remember, every time you polish a car, you are removing a small amount of the clear coat, so doing it too often can eventually cause burn through.
      Hope that helps 👍🏻

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  Рік тому

      Laquer thinner? Do you mean IPA? If so, no, just give the car a good wash, dry it, then preferably use a clay bar to remove and stuck in dirt, then use the one and done, then you can just put a wax on top, but ideally, once you have used the 1&done, use IPA to remove any residue polish so the wax sticks better 👍🏻

    I used the One and Done yesterday on my car; using the 50/50 microfiber pad first (4 dots on the pad) and then used the black foam pad (4 dots on the pad). I tapped the pad over the area to be done, started the machine out at a 1 speed (using a Porter Cable machine) and then switched to 4 speed in a cross hatch; doing this way with the 50/50 pad. Then when using the black foam pad, I also tapped the pad over the area, started out with a 1 speed to spread, then changed to a 3 speed in a cross hatch. I noticed that with each pad and application, it was harder and longer to remove the compound; I had to use all three microfiber towels; and it wasn’t very translucent. What did I do wrong?

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah I’m looking at a 3” machine next as well 👍🏻, Rupes are a bit more expensive but they are the best (in my humble opinion) 👍🏻

      @@ChicagoRob2 You should look in to STPA mini DA polisher from Ebay or AliExpress. I have one, its a little heavy and feels like it needs just a little bit more power sometimes when doing heavy work. But being almost 4 times cheaper its a pretty good deal. The kit also comes with a bag and a few pads.

    Just to be clear, I do not believe the One and Done compound contains graphene. It does not state it does on the product labels.

    Love the videos but I'm a novice at this. What does clay barred mean?

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  4 роки тому +1

      It’s a process you do after having washed the car. You use a clay bar to remove any contamination that is embedded in the clear coat of the paintwork. Really simple to do, I have a “how to video” on how to use one if your interested? 👍🏻

      3m compound has one of the oldest technology compared to others and dusts like crap when I use it. Its miles behind Sonax, Koch chemie, 3D and so on. Meguiars also dusts allot but has a longer working time atleast. Thats of course my opinion, if it works good for you I respect that.

    Does not fix scratches. Watched other UA-cam videos, TW 1 and Done, is not all that unable to do much on scratches. I am shocked Dave said the vehicle "Mercedes" was already clay bar. I do like the shine. Then the Mercedes age is unknown and somewhere was neglected, maybe he'll do paint correction or a minor repaint job to rid of some of those nasty scratches.

    • @DaveRebuilds
      @DaveRebuilds  9 місяців тому

      It depends on what you mean by a scratch? It’s a light compound so won’t remove heavy scratches, but does a superb job of light scratches and swirls.
      I did another video fully detailing the Mercedes, so all the info will be in that video 👍🏻
