- First Look At The MSR Switch Camping Stove For 2025 - This Is A Game Changer
🌧️ Battling heavy rainfall and relentless gusts in the OEX Bobcat 1 UL, I’m putting MSR’s newest innovation to the ultimate test. Is this the best stove for 2025? Let’s find out.
The MSR Switch is here, and it’s changing the game for outdoor cooking in a big way. In this video, I’ll break down three standout features that make this stove a must-have for any wild camping setup.
🔥 Versatile
For me having one stove to complete all cooking tasks efficiently was a pipe dream. You either had to settle for a stove that could heat water really fast or a stove that would cook a 'proper' meal and just take it's time boiling your water unless you spent extra on gadgets that would allow you to use one stove to complete all. Those days are now gone! And the MSR Switch features a rather cool cup design that I haven't seen on any other stove.
💧 Ultra-Light & Packable
For wild campers like us, weight matters. The MSR Switch is incredibly light, and when you’re miles from civilization, every ounce counts. It’s easy to pack and won’t slow you down, perfect for long treks or minimalist setups.
Getting out into the wild is more than just gear-it’s about reconnecting with nature and finding mental clarity. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just starting out, the right tools make the experience that much richer.
New camping gear for 2025 is rolling in, and this could easily be the best stove for your kit. If you found this video helpful, don’t forget to hit subscribe and join me for more expert insights into the best gear for the year ahead🏕️

Great to see you back out again, Ant👍 Nice little field review. Looks a decent bit of kit.
That stove seems VERY efficient, and i do like that the pot/pan support is not a seperate item, although i would like to see insulated pot handles and possibly insulation around the measuring cup just purely for secure hand holds ( i hate tiny thin pot handles they always feel flimsy in my hand).
Bobcat is not for the kit heavy, but lucky for me I'm like tom thumb's little brother 😂
Good cast 👍
Yeah I couldn't believe the speed. I'll be doing a full boil test this week mate so stay tuned. Full stats will be on there too. You do get the cork option to help you out with the handles if you have a big grip, it is removable too.
Haha yeah I don't do too bad in the Bob, I never really go light.
Big thanks matey for your comment and for watching the vid too!
Hey Ant,
Thanks for sharing.
I want that stove.
Hi Steve, thanks pal. Unfortunately both badges are spoken for I'm afraid
Nice one Ant. Good to see you out again. Although, it looked a testing one with the weather and being stuck inside. Cooking isn’t easy in those conditions. That stove looks interesting. I’m not usually a fan of those upright stoves, but I like that you can take the pot off and place a frying pan onto it. And it’s got a cup and all packs neatly together, so I might be a convert! ATB mate 👍
Hi Joe, thanks mate. It was nice to be alone with my thoughts buddy. Yeah the plan was to cook outside under the tarp, just couldn't happen, way too windy. Yeah I was struggling keeping e everything upright due to the elevation I had pitched on but it managed OK. What I'd like yo have seen is a lock system on the pot to stove and I'll mention that on the next video I do on it and the stats. Absolutely fabulous though. Haha yeah I'd be surprised if you didn't like it mate if you purchased it.
As always Joe, thanks for your support pal
@@AntSurviveTheNight yeah, great suggestion, I think a latch or twist lock is a must on a tall stove like that. Too top heavy to just sit on top loose 👍
@joehusband8479 giving its due Joe, the pot drops way below giving it more room and control at the bottom
I'm not first out of the gate, but I want that stove 😢😂
Yeah sorry dude, both badges are spoken for. Big competition coming though early 2025 so stay tuned
I want that Stove!
Sorry Jazz both badges are spoken for mate, sorry!
Interesting stove Ant
Very much so Mike mate
I want that stove😊
Sorry Robert, they have gone matey
The stove looks really good for sure ❤ Nice camp and tent too.Have a wonderful Sunday 😊
Ahh thank you matey! Yeah she's a cracker. Thank you as always bud.
I want that stove.
Sorry Michael they are gone dude
Oh, well. Maybe I'll have better luck another time. Either way, it was an awesome video as always, and it's good to see you getting out.
@michaelmoore6260 aww thank you Michael, I really am chuffed your enjoying the content dude
When I’m struggling with been on an incline I take something like the tent bag and put it under the table on the lower side or if your not using a groundsheet a couple of spare tent pegs can be pushed into the soil on the lower side and then pop your table over the top of them. Good review of the stove looks interesting and locks in place well 👍
All great tips the Marc, we are all forever learning, nobody can clearly say they master everything so good advice is always welcome pal.
Yeah this stove is spectacular 👌
I've tried there before. Went waist deep nearly on the way up and yes very boggy. Was too slanty for me to be happy there all night. I'm just to big for the bobcat for it to be enjoyable but at least it held out. It's good to get a quick solo every now and then, but weather definitely wasn't on your side. It is a good looking stove too.
Hi Phil, Yeah you have to be real careful on the Moor at the minute. I've heard some horrible stories mate. Yeah it's a tough spot, two small places to camp really and they aren't perfect but tbh mate what wild camping spots are.
Yeah I needed to go out and just take a little time, which I did, 14 hours lol. Thanks pal
Somewerr in Lancashire?
Oh yes!
The stove looks like a great piece of kit, the rounded bottom gives a much larger surface area to heat. Next innovation would be to have little dimples in it like a golf ball to increase it further.
I'll be sticking to the trangia, but I can see it's attraction to stove-aholics.
Great to see that grin back and hear that laugh.
Hi Si, yeah it's gonna get a serious hammering over winter pal, that's for certain. Yeah, I great design idea from them, it truly heats up water fast! I'll be getting a test vid do this week with all the stats pal.
Thank you pal, it was good to be out on my own with my thoughts. I'll ring ya in the week buddy
I want that stove
When I saw the weather and then the tent, I thought you were starting another "Can Ant kill the Bobcat" series 🤣
Cracking camp and really entertaining, nice stove review too.
Many thanks for sharing, really enjoyed this one.
Aww nice one Ivan, that's a really nice comment to read man. Yeah, count on me to use and abuse but truthfully, I wasn't expecting this weather, rain yeah but not the wind. I'm chuffed you enjoyed it pal, and I'm in love with this stove. Thanks mate, much respect Ivan 🙏
How about a swear box, with a quid to charity each time ‘literally’ or ‘cool’ are used?! 😉
It wouldn't work as they are swear words 🤪
I want that stove..please.
Sorry matey the badges have gone now
Hope you're OK mate, don't know what's happened but things will get better. Take care. 🐜
Thanks Anthony, I appreciate this comment pal 👍
Looks a unit mate, reckon if i buy another stove I'll be getting a divorce 🤣 be peaceful i suppose lad haha
Yeah she's a beast Dav,. Try your luck and ask for it for an anniversary present 😄
@@AntSurviveTheNight good thinking mate a like it 😅
@davt8615 😆
I want that stove! Need to get out on my first wild camp. Just gotta muster up the balls for it lol.
Yeah if your just starting out mate, this stove will be a must, wait till the new year before purchasing a stove and get this one!!
Let me know your email matey and we'll organise for the badge to be sent!
The cooker is too tall and unstable for me. I've had too many pots topple over and ruin my brew/dinner.
I have switched to a remove stove from a SOTO Windmaster in the last year.
It was unfortunate that the ground wasn't not great hence the sloping cooking which I don't like as you have to constantly keep your eye on it. In normal pitching if there is such a thing 😆 you wouldn't have a problem matey
@AntSurviveTheNight I would risk my chicken korma after a 4 hour hike, just to use that stove. 😎
@TimmyBobinson haha!! Another curry fan!,you can't beat a curry on camp can you pal
I regularly use the msr windburner, this new version looks awesome. The high surface area at the bottom is a great idea. Hope you are well mate. Another great video.
Yeah I've heard that the Windburner is a good stove mate. Yes, I totally see why they went for that shape at the bottom, no word of a lie it did not take a min to boil that water. I would say it wasn't a brews worth of water but I reckon it wouldn't take much longer for a full cup. I'll be doing another vid this week on the stats so we shall see then pal
Nice one, good see you back pal.
Thanks Jim, appreciated bud
Cracking stove that. gonna need a bigger tent lol. good to get you out again
Haha definitely mate! How did I last in there for 14 hrs!! Thanks mate. All down to you dragging me out, love ya Leon
@@AntSurviveTheNight haha stop it
People like me want statistics on stuff like 900ml to rolling boil , just sayin.
Glad you are happy with it . You looked like you were starving 😂
No problem matey all the stats are coming. As the vid title says, it's just a first look. I'll be out again in the week and I'll bring you the stats your searching for pal.
Haha I'm always hungry buddy haha! Big thanks for watching though
Great to see you back out fella even though weather has been pants but the positive is no basket midges about.. That stove is pretty amazing and very rapid. Glad they sent it to a top notch fella to test it in the field who will give it a good real life test. Take care pal and thanks for your help in all my queries. ATB buddy
Hi Andy, thank you matey. Yeah rough night that, 14 hrs haha! Yeah I'm loving this beast, great that it's all in one.
Thank you mate, I try to give you guys a true to life test on all my gear and you know hopefully that you can trust what you see on camera.
No worries Andy thanks and contact me whenever you like if you need info or anything.
Hey Ant
Good to see you out, especially in that weather. The stove does look great but I think you can't beat the Alpkit Brukit that does most of that at a great price.
I'm looking forward to seeing you out again 👍👍👍
Hello Simon, thank you sir. Yeah it was a miserable evening, I never know how well videos will do when you're just inside your tent, I love them especially if the weather outside is rough.
Well, if you was to give this a try I don't think you would be disappointed, top quality kit with great features.
Thanks mate for commenting and for watching
Level the bloody table
But I want one of them stoves
How are the doing mate.?
Not too good Bernard
Good man testing in real outdoor conditions. I like stove the fly in the tent would have bugged me😅 Good video
You know me pal, no fair weather camping on my channel unless it's nice when we head out the door haha.
Yeah I had to hold the door out with my knee due to the wind.
Good to see you out Ant, that stove looks just the ticket.
Hello Martin, thank you pal. Yeah I'm very impressed so far, can't wait to use it again
Always good to hear from you Ant, that is a proper sexy gadget!!
Thank you Toon. Oh yeah mate, it's gonna take some beating this stove and obviously it's gonna get a beating from me haha
I want that stove! definitley buying one of these when released! atb
It's a beast Psh, an absolute class act! It will literally Switch up the Stove community completely 💯
Let me know your email matey and we'll organise for the badge to be sent!
Ahhh tooo slow lol. I still “want that stove” though 😂😂😂
Aww haha! I only realised a couple if hours later that two people had already said it lol.
Yeah I'd definitely be looking at getting it mate, lovely bit of kit
the stove is a nice piece of kit Ant your a braver man than me sleeping out in that weather good tent .
Hi Tarmac mate. Yeah it's a special one, I know this for sure after trying, it's gonna be up there with the best of them. Haha, I know now I should have took the OG 😆
🙏🙏👍👍
Thanks buddy!
I want that stove please 🙏
Unfortunately they budget have been snapped up buddy, just waiting for address details
Kind admitting that you are going to pee in the empty water bottle. Real bushcraft
Haha I have done in the past and tbh I have a really good bladder for a 51 Yr old lol
