If you could pick 3 guitars from my collection which ones would they be? Here are my picks: 1. Surf Green Thinline 2. Super Strat Build 3. 10s DBG Aurora These are the guitars that mean the most emotionally to me :) 4. Honorable mention to all the other guitars.....hahaha
I have a 1970 Gibson SG standard. It’s been in my family since 1970, and has been handed down from my grandpa, to my dad, and now to me. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love it
I wish that happened to me. My grandfather had a 59 Burst but sold it in the mid-70s for $200 :/ Probably the biggest loss I’ve ever taken when I asked him.
IMHO it is insanely hard to sell guitars. The attachment to these instruments is real. Every guitar has its own story. Instantly regret selling the ones I sold.
NickHyphy I think I rather keep them all but decided to just keeps the ones I really love. I just ordered two custom shop guitars that I hope to be my main guitars forever. It took a long time to choose which to order. About a year. In March I get a Hansen T-style and later this year a Tom Anderson strat.
I haven’t tried all that many guitars in my life. I am wondering if you could make some suggestions on what to try. Here is what I prefer... A light guitar that is comfortable to play sitting down and is well balanced (not like a SG). Humbucker. pickups Small fretboard radius like old Teles, Strats and old BC Riches. I find them easier to play and more comfortable to play. Rosewood fretboard High quality tuners (Currently like Grover but open minded) Simple passive electronics with few knobs. Kahler or Floyd Rose tremolo Lower Price is better but would pay a few thousand for the right guitar. I have an American made BC Rich Eagle which I love but I would like a second guitar. It has a chunky neck but I open to trying a thinner neck. Thanks!
Thank you for doing this channel. I got back into guitar playing and music because of watching Darrell. I bought an Eastman SB-59 because of this channel. I’ve overcome issues with depression and anxiety through the power of music and guitars. Thanks Mr. Braun. You rock.
What I like about your guitars, Darrell... Is that you play them all! These guys who spend a fortune on a guitar and then never play them... Give me a break! And Darrell, great minds think alike...Love my Teles! Your orange Thinline is sweet! (Though I would send that pickguard packing!). If she was a girl, you and I would have to step outside to settle the issue! By the way...I think between the start and finish of your vid my beard grew two inches.
That midnight Tele is indeed gorgeous. You could make a video about taking off some of the sticky neck finish and upgrading the pickups. Cheers on a great guitar collection and great year of content , Darrell!
Darrell, I just love your channel. I've been playing awhile...and I'm not very good but it doesn't keep me from enjoying guitars. Your input have been of great value to me and I want to just thank you for your knowledge. And you're Canadian, I spent some early years living there and just love the folks I was involved with for about a year. Love the channel. You've taught me how to tweak inexpensive guitars and my collection is growing. Mostly low end to mid range guitars, but I'm having fun learning and playing. Thanks
Thanks for finally giving us a tour of the guitars. Nice to see that you have some from different companies. Looking forward to the 2020 demos. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Also a happy New year as well!!👍👍🎸🎸
I love they way you compare guitars. It's so clear and simple. I was wondering if you can do a comparison with the diffent nuts, bone, synthetic, and horn, and how you can tell them apart. I would deeply appreciate it.
I can't stress enough how much I'm looking forward to your Pacifica build. About 5 years ago, I got a used one very cheap and instantly loved the neck. Being surprised by the overall quality for the low price, I thought it would be the occasion to learn about modifications. I had absolutely zero experience in this, so the first few investments did not really make sense. I changed parts several times, brought it to a store to correct my mistakes and was never really happy, still it's my favourite practice guitar - but usually not plugged in. I now have that emotional bond you were talking about in the beginning of your video, so instead of getting a better guitar for the same price right away, I really want to make mine work. I love your videos for the lack of voodoo, meaning that you precisely point out a guitar's weakness, suggest modifications in a reasonable price range and then you show the honest sound comparison. I can already say that your advice on the Pacifica will most certainly have a heavy impact my everyday guitar experience!
Hi Darrell. I enjoy your reviews and am especially envious of your guitar collection. I am an avid fan of the Beatles and their guitar and while I have worked most of my adult life, it is very hard for us guys in the Philippines to afford such luxuries. Cheers!
Darrell im so happy for you. You have worked so hard for so long and its great to see you so lit up and inspired by all these gorgeous guitars. God Bless you and Happy New Year from Kentucky.
Wow! What an amazing collection Darrel. And so different!! I doubt if there is anyone out there that can match the diversity of your collection. Not surprising to hear you say "one of my favourite guitars" quite a few times, more times than I have guitars lying about in my house 😁
I don't know where else to make a suggestion but an old post could work: How about a "tour" of your studio? You do a great job, come along way from standing in front of the French doors with a mic, to a pretty slick production imo. The camera work and segues are professional and your set looks very clean and simple. I'd like to see where and how you work to get the sounds and video to work. You're the best influencer I've found and the best part is you're always in tune 👍
Greetings from Australia I’ll go with: 1. Baja Tele (I know you didn’t show it but seen it in other videos) 2. MIJ Midnight Tele 3. Thinline Super Deluxe (Yes I love Telecasters) Great videos man, thoroughly enjoying them, love your work, love the T shirts, I’m rocking a couple of them around Sydney and they get plenty of comments
Love your channel and watch every single video! I recently got back into guitar after twenty years after putting it down at age 18 after three-and-a-half to four years of playing my first guitar was a Silvertone tobacco sunburst SSS strap copy followed by a Dean Phantom XXL, Washburn Slime Lime DB Darrell guitar, Fender Custom Graffiti Yellow Pro Shop series ( Seymour Duncan Invader pickups), Fender fiberglass custom electric acoustic and after letting go of all those classics for nearly 20 years I now have a Harmony Tabasco sunburst semi Strat style guitar with a custom clamshell string through and locking tuners and a guitar that started out as a HHS squier Affinity series was modded into a Steat nearly an exact copy of the iconic Kurt Cobain's vandalism strat. I've learnt so much from your channel and draw inspiration from daily to continue playing, learning and what you are big on experimenting. I've been an exclusive fender guy for years now despite the gap in playing and love my Stratacasters but have never played a Tele how do the two compare.
I would have to say the 3 favs would be the 1. Soild bodies 2. Semi hollow bodies 3. The hollow bodies But yeah the strat. @17:00 . gold foil the electronic well and leave the clear pick guard for a while. Great guitars and great videos, watch them all the time!
Absolute favorite is the ultimate Epiphone build with rootbeer finish. I would like 1st dibs if you ever decide to sell it! That axe is gorgeous! Best wishes for 2020!
You keep adding. On ! Omg ! I am up to 18 . But I admit I look at my guitars as artwork . I am clearly not talented enough to play all of them but they mean something to me from my past . I enjoy doing tech work on them . It is my goal to become a better player ! But thanks Darrell I enjoy your videos and enthusiasm . Brings me joy and inspiration . Probably will reach out for inspiration .! The black tele is gorgeous Nd I am not a tele guy! I also have the epiphone Les pauls they are awesome . The strat is super gorgeous with 2 piece pick guard ! !! The same with all of my guitars bought used with the exception of ac1980 BC Rich Bass and a 1988 ibanez bass . All of mine other are orphans I got on great deals and rebuild. Love the flat black Paul . The strat with seymours so gorgeous!! The double cut away Les Paul just gets me so cool . I have the black epiphone SG my sone calms it the Batman guitar too
Having many guitars absolutely made me better faster. When i had one guitar i would practice an hour a day or so. Now that i have six the variety makes me want to play them all everyday so my practice now is between 4-6 hours daily. If i get a couple more i will probably have a guitar hanging from my neck even longer.
@@ToddSauve I would personally never marry anyone who has a problem with me owning several guitars. As long as you can afford them, and it's a well thought out decision, why would you ever want to live with someone who denies you that? Just sounds like a really unhealthy relationship to me
Awesome collection Darrell! I'd say the (W)Reck ?, The D'Angelico I didn't win, and I'm a sucker for a Thinline, I have one with Lindy Fralin's steel pole 43's, basically p90s that drop into a teles stock pup routing. Mine are 8.5k neck, and 10k bridge, and an oddity, a stock 24 3/4" Gibson scale neck!!! It sounds so good that when Lindy installed them for me,( friend of 40 years) every one of his employees cane into his office demanding to know what sounded so good! I get Tele twang, and at full volume, a cranked p90 ES!! And here's the crazy part, it's a Squier Classic Vibe, with all vintage wiring, bone nut, Gotoh tuners, CTS pots, and Switchcraft Jack, and switch. Frets redressed, it's a beast. All the work other than the pups was done by a local luthier you should look into, Tom Rodriguez. I'll send you some photos of the '68 big head Strat he built for me, it's the finest instrument I've owned, and I've bought and sold over 100 guitars!!! Sorry so long, but Lindy,IMO makes the finest pickups made, and Tom's Classicals range from $12,500-$25,000, and his electrics are around $4,000 I believe, but he does all the work, one man, one shop, and is an absolute ARTIST. Check out his Facebook page: Tom Rodriguez electric guitars. Peace, Keith
Love your tastes in the appearance of your instruments. It's nice to see someone else who loves gold hardware and unusual finishes. I know looks aren't everything, but why not have an instrument you love to look at?
Cool collection Darrell! Probably the best guitar collection on UA-cam ever. My favourites from your collection: 1) Gold Top PRS Custom 24 (They're like the Rolls Royce of guitar world) 2) Fender Select Strat (Best strat I've ever seen) 3) Schecter PT Special (My favourite T style guitar) 4) Super Strat (Best strat build ever) 5) DBG Aurora (Because Auroras are love) 6) Schecter C1 SLS Elite (Insane performance to price ratio) 7) Midnight 60s Tele (Most beautiful tele in your collection) 8) American Pro Strat (Just because of the sienna burst) 9) Les Paul Std. 120th (just to keep a LP in the game too) 10) Ibanez SA160 (Vfm og) And the Wreck Blue Morpho Classic is just worth hanging on the display wall.
Your an amazing guy DB. Much love to you and ur family. Thanx for what u do. Sometimes I lose my focus and then I watch ur channel and I'm inspired like the 1st guitar I got for Christmas. Peace and good will to all in the coming year... God Bless 🌎
My wife actually bought me a Yamaha Pacifica today to try and learn guitar on. Your great channel has inspired me to try. Looking forward to the Pacifica build project. Merry Christmas
7:24 sticky neck can be fixed or at least treated. I watched a video on Phillip McKnights channel and he was checking out some fender squier strats with a guy called Ron Thorn who is a master builder in the Fender custom shop and what he recommends on glossy necks is carnauba wax specifically the stuff made by Maguire's (yes, the care care products people) and he says to apply it after every heavy session on there to make the neck a lot "faster" and a lot less sticky.... might be something worth doing to help with that
My favorite where my eyes almost melted was The Yamaha Pacifica build which Darrell made later. It became so beautiful and the sound made the hairs rise all over the body. 15:11
¥our collection have grown so much over the last year. I remember when you were at 40k subs. Love the DBG Tele. This is by far the one I prefer the most in your collection. As for me I have a Schecter and those guitars are wonderful. I was wondering if you could do a series on Floyd rose models, like Jackson, Schecter, Ibanez, or any other brands. I'm looking to buy a Floyd Rose guitar, but I'm not really sure about the model. I saw that you don't owned any Floyd rose guitar at the moment, so It could be a good subject for your channel. Merry Christmas to you and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
I love your collection, I could not imagine having that many nice things lol. I only have one nice thing, and she does not like when I rub her neck and strum her belly lol. Congrats on the amazing collection, I am legit happy for people who have so many guitars, I am not even a little bit jealous, mostly because I am just so impressed lol.
Watched this video on release, now it came back as a recpmendation, cannot belive its been 3 years already! Still laughed at every time you came with another tele like the first time haha
'having lots of guitars doesn't make you (points thumbs at self) a better player' ... yes, this is absolutely correct Darrell, but u are an awesome guitarist mate, your technique 'feel' (that thing that u can't learn or teach, u gotta be born with it) & ability to play many different styles / genres / types of music is inspirational & you are definitely in my top 3 guitar tuition / information YT channels by a country mile. Thanks for all your outstanding helpful informative & practical sensible salient tips hints lessons & do's & don'ts. I've been playing guitar since I was 9yrs old (I'm 51 now) & guitar is something one can never conquer / reach the summit of nor get bored with due to lack of new material to play. Gee, sick of playing covers, get an act & play your OWN music peeps, I find it not only helps my CREDIBILITY as a professional musician but boosts my personal DIGNITY as a human being. Playing covers all your life is a BIG mistake in my mind, who knows, one may have the next #1 world-wide hit single when one actually starts playing their own music & stops aping Hendrix copycatting Page or ripping off Clapton. Once one has played for many decades, one can / practically / should be able to play ALMOST ANY COVER at all within reason, this can be for a while entertaining interesting & fun in this but oh ye of non-existent or very little backbone at all are thee, if all one does FOREVER is play monotonous covers, I find. Once I got my sorry ass out of the terribly BAD HABIT (for someone who has played for decades now) about 19 years ago, I stopped just playing 'other peoples music' ad-nauseum however perfectly or imperfectly, and started improvising my own rhythms tunes chords & riffs. Believe it or not, I found that after 4 decades & a bit LO & BEHOLD my stuff sounds pretty damn good to me, family, mates & random punters too. Don't be a pseudo-Slash a wannabe-Walsh or a second-rate-Satriani for ALL OF, yeah, for all ya miserable life... Do what I did nearly 20 years ago, & stop playing covers & 'other peoples music' & start playing YOUR OWN STUFF, you'll never get outta that basement / garage / dad's shed / mum's sunroom mimicking All Along the Watchtower, Daytripper, Little Wing or Seven Nation Army... yawnnnn.... just shoot me already... yaaawn! Playing covers & learning other songs is fine & well to learn accomplish technical steps forward & helps one improve sure, but it does become stale tired & boring, so DO NOT MAKE my mistake playing covers for FAR TOO LONG, for months years past their use-by-dates, break the shackles of sh*t & start riffing your own way. This is my tip to any guitarist who has played for (say 20+ years or more) whom could by then conceivably play almost anything, stop covering crap & start your own imperfect / perfect personal original music journey... like me. Trying to play covers is fine if that's your goal & it does have many positive sides, but there comes a point mine was about 20 odd years ago now, where covers don't wash anymore, they force one into ruts of stagnation & playing my own imperious superb outrageously good stuff which I make up as I go along is better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick - and playing Hey Joe covers til' ya croak it. Cheers, peace, respect, be nice to animals those less fortunate & ya old chook and have a magical marvellous meritorious New Year 2021 axe-freaks all. Darrell Braun, u are the bees knees the lizards gizzards & the ducks nuts, mate, when it comes to guitar stuff u Sir, & Phillip McKnight, are my go-to-guitar-guys all day everyday without fail! You never disappoint with your great videos, I love 'em man! Now, whilst I CAN PLAY SOME STUFF like you, I can't play everything like you do, you are a stratospherically good guitar player Darrell, FACT. P.S. Bigfoot is real. Yeti's are real. Yowies are real. Don't argue, get real, tune-in to your inner-bipedal cryptid hominids & their local clan, taking people Missing-411 eating your drying salmon leaving nada & tearing trees apart screaming like the Sierra Sounds clacking rocks snapping branches & leaving 19 x 6in footprints in the mud, in a forest jungle or woodland NEAR YOU ! Right now... FACT.
You, Sir, are an inspiration. I may not appreciate your amp choice, too much compression and crunch, but your guitars: PERFECTION! I have 40+ guitars and am working on having one-per-week for a year; you've given me several new choices with this video. I thank you!
I watch this video a year late, but when you mentioned that the Pacifica are a bit rare I remembered that the next to/connected to my work rented out a space from us and built a studio for the local music-school where kids of all ages just can book it for a day for free and have fun. From what I understand some of the local music teachers have the same thought as me and a couple of friends that the local music scene is basically dead. They have a couple of squire bass and guitar packs, a couple of pacificas, drums (both acoustic and electric), Roland cubes, and so on.... And then everybodys new best friend appeared last year.
1. Green Gretsch - huge Gretsch fan and that one has been on my list a while. 2. Relish - Every time I see the design that went into that thing I just love it a little more. 3. 920d Squire with the Lambertones Crema PU's... Love those pickups.
I did an SG .Started with a Vintage ,by Wilkinson .Changed out the gold hardware for chrome .Roller Saddled bridge .Iron Gear pickups .P90 in the neck .Wilkinson 2 hole locking tuners .Tele style knobs .Graphtech nut . It looks and plays great .Inspired by you guys to try .
I sure have the weirdest collection A Squier HSH modern An Airline map std by Eastwood guitars A starter strat style guitar by a local brand called Hertz And my Sawtooth Americana Relic Telecaster with Seymour Duncan hot rod pickups
just bought a deluxe Nashville tele today, I spend hours at GC trying to pick my big spend guitar, and I just was drawn to the tele. im in love it has the noiseless pickups and locking tuners
What da hell, I just discovered your YT channel and I loved it. Your voice is surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable and the video and audio quality is magnificent. Subscribe!
Got to say I loved this video Darrell! As a fellow Canuck I love watching your stuff. I not sure where you are located but I'm in a very small village called Eganville, Ontario about 1/2 hour between Pembroke and Renfrew Ontario and about 11/2 hours north west of Ottawa. I am subscribed and faithfully watch your videos to get the latest poop of what's what in the guitar world. Keep 'em comin'. Cheers.
Just subscribed! Love what you do and love the collection. My latest purchase was a 67 Hagstrom hollow body and I love it. As an Elvis fan I had to have something close to what he played on the 68 comeback special. Looking forward to your new guitar models! Congrats from this country Nebraska boy!!
Exactly. At some point, it's just plain rude. Rubbing our faces in it...we, the ones who make his wealth of guitars possible! Americans have this weird culture where they're happy to worship their overlords! Like the filthy rich rappers or film stars or pop stars or whatever. They brag and brag and brag about how much they've got, and how much you don't....and it's only because of yours and my patronage! If we stop giving them our attention, they lose all. I'm not from America. I absolutely do not worship those who somehow got themselves an easy ride. And if they are gonna flaunt it, and effectively rub our faces in it, well..... Eff them. EFF Them! 😡 I like Darrell more than most Utubers....but this vulgar display...there really is no excuse. It brings to mind Orwell's Animal Farm...where the pigs are dining an extravagant feast while all the working farmyard animals are left with some out of date scraps between them. "Everybody is equal," says Napoleon (the head Pig), "Just...some are more equal than others!" As he gobbles down a huge drumstick!
Luey Sixty-six people have been asking him to show his guitars. And as someone from America I can tell you that is not true at all. There are some jerks who brag about their stuff and I agree those people are awful but saying it’s our culture is stretching it
@@lueysixty-six7300 If it wasn't for his guitar collection he wouldn't have a UA-cam channel... He has worked hard to build up his channel and guitar collection. By showing his collection he is in no way trying to make himself seem better than anyone else. He is simply showing people what he has. Personally, i love these types of videos because I love guitars and think it's great to see a wide variety. You really need to change your attitude and stop being jealous. And yes I am from America and guess how many guitars I have? Probably 1/100 of Darrell's collection and I am by no means butt hurt the way you are.
@@lueysixty-six7300 true, most people will never be able to afford a somewhat 30 piece guitar collection. but nothing about this video strikes me as vulgar, if anything because darrel gives away bunches of his guitars for good causes, so his popularity directly does good in this world. some guy or lady gets a hot meal tonight because a guy has a thing for sharing his love for music and guitars on youtube. i also know absolutely nothing about how and when Darrel got to where he is today but assuming he got it because he got "somehow" an easy ride is guessing at best, and straight up jealousy in worst case. some people work their asses off to get where they are, and are simply more driven to go even further than others. if looking at people who have more then yourself makes you feel the world is "unfair", i suppose it is mate. loads of people have way more than me, and even more have less. i could give away everything i have today, tomorrow it will be forgotten and the world will still be the same, with one extra guy who has nothing. if i continue to strive for success and excellence like i have so far i'm pretty sure many many more people will gain from that and have opportunities for their futures as well. pretty much comes down to "give a man a fish and he can feed his family today, give him a fishing pole and he can feed his family forever". just my 2 cents, we can agree to disagree. my next guitar is gonna be a PRS Mark tremonti, it's going to be the second guitar i will have bought since 1994, the first one being a squier. my cousin played it for years because he didn't have the money to buy his own gear, in the end he smashed it on stage "the who" style. a sad though classic end of a great guitar. i have a love for 3 things in life i don't need, sports cars, guitars, and weirdly, nice watches. i can certainly live my life without any of them, but i will never feel sorry for having any of them. if ever i got to own 30 sports cars, be assured i'll stop working my ass off and start my own youtube channel lol. and i'll throw a few per year for the other farm animals, Darrel style, and hope to see a new vid of him showing us his 300th guitar. because i can watch a guy be succesfull and say; GOOD JOB MATE! YOU MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!
I play the bass, have been for 30 years. I simply love to collect guitars and basses as it is like collecting a piece of art. I sometimes pull them out and just stare at them as I am mesmerized by their beauty. As long as we are enjoying them, and not doing anything stupid out there, then all the best.
Nice axes! I grew up with 9.5 necks and jumbo frets. I’ve been playing 7.25 necks now for a few years and I love them. The jumbo frets feel to big now after the vintage frets!

I have a 1970 Gibson SG standard. It’s been in my family since 1970, and has been handed down from my grandpa, to my dad, and now to me. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love it
My father has a very old violin that needs restoration. I dont play violin but I kind of want to have it restored for family heritage.
JezBollah 667 Exactly!
thats actually so cool aye
Same for me but for a 71 telecaster
I wish that happened to me. My grandfather had a 59 Burst but sold it in the mid-70s for $200 :/ Probably the biggest loss I’ve ever taken when I asked him.
IMHO it is insanely hard to sell guitars. The attachment to these instruments is real. Every guitar has its own story. Instantly regret selling the ones I sold.
I sold 17 guitars in 2019 only. If it’s hard though - I don’t sell. :) I only keep the ones I really love and it 9 guitars so far.
WOOLgum What’s your secret?
NickHyphy I think I rather keep them all but decided to just keeps the ones I really love. I just ordered two custom shop guitars that I hope to be my main guitars forever. It took a long time to choose which to order. About a year. In March I get a Hansen T-style and later this year a Tom Anderson strat.
"the Batman guitar"
That is class
Watching this after Stevie T, there's a big difference.
Stevie t asked on Instagram is he obsessed. After i watched this video i would say that Darrel has about 3 times more guitars than Stevie.😂🤣
Have you guys seen the rob scallon one..
Stevie is more likeable because he is comedic this guy is professional love both
I like how this guys more varied Stevie t is only really kiesel and music man
I haven’t tried all that many guitars in my life. I am wondering if you could make some suggestions on what to try. Here is what I prefer...
A light guitar that is comfortable to play sitting down and is well balanced (not like a SG).
Humbucker. pickups
Small fretboard radius like old Teles, Strats and old BC Riches. I find them easier to play and more comfortable to play.
Rosewood fretboard
High quality tuners (Currently like Grover but open minded)
Simple passive electronics with few knobs.
Kahler or Floyd Rose tremolo
Lower Price is better but would pay a few thousand for the right guitar.
I have an American made BC Rich Eagle which I love but I would like a second guitar. It has a chunky neck but I open to trying a thinner neck.
Thanks!
"So how do you access the upper frets on that green Gretsch?"
The green Gretsch: *We don't do that here*
Darrell: Make a 30 minute of guitars collection

Darrell, I just love your channel. I've been playing awhile...and I'm not very good but it doesn't keep me from enjoying guitars. Your input have been of great value to me and I want to just thank you for your knowledge. And you're Canadian, I spent some early years living there and just love the folks I was involved with for about a year. Love the channel. You've taught me how to tweak inexpensive guitars and my collection is growing. Mostly low end to mid range guitars, but I'm having fun learning and playing. Thanks
Couldn't help but press the like button, seeing this guy's passion for his guitars.. A fine collection too. 🎸
Life goals...
Currently sitting on 2 strats right now. Just got my engineering degree and started on my first job, finally time to start collecting...
Thanks for finally giving us a tour of the guitars. Nice to see that you have some from different companies. Looking forward to the 2020 demos. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Also a happy New year as well!!👍👍🎸🎸
holly dude, you've got a lot of guitars I'm still saving money to get my first one, and I'm a new subscriber by the way
Same, i m saving for my first electric , in a month i saved 30$=)) i hope in a few months I would can affrod an yamaha Pacifica, Good luck man.
If you don't already have one, consider getting a cheap Harley benton, stay away from Floyd rose tho
That green one should be call the Gretch grinch lol. I think that one was my favorite! wow!
Not surprising to hear you say "one of my favourite guitars" quite a few times, more times than I have guitars lying about in my house 😁
awesome vid and collection Darrell, you're such a light spirited guy, keep up the good work!
Greetings from Australia
I’ll go with:
1. Baja Tele (I know you didn’t show it but seen it in other videos)
2. MIJ Midnight Tele
3. Thinline Super Deluxe
(Yes I love Telecasters)
Great videos man, thoroughly enjoying them, love your work, love the T shirts, I’m rocking a couple of them around Sydney and they get plenty of comments
17:33 I believe the building on the D'angelico is the Chrysler Building, not the Empire State building. Great collection man!
Gibson's really had some quality control issues in recent years. It's absurd when you consider how expensive most of their instruments are.
When you introduced that schecter tele i literally laughed out loud your love of teles is so comical (in a good way)
I would have to say the 3 favs would be the
1. Soild bodies
2. Semi hollow bodies
3. The hollow bodies
But yeah the strat. @17:00 . gold foil the electronic well and leave the clear pick guard for a while. Great guitars and great videos, watch them all the time!
What about the Acoustics???? They are guitars too
Ryan Harper he did show the nylon one
Ryan Harper the problem with acoustics is that they sometimes self-identify as electric - trans electric.
Ryan Harper no, no they’re not lol jk
Guys I know he has Stonebridge and a Rainsong Carbon Fiber Acoustic at the very least
Are they now! :)
I would be die happily to have the catalogues of those gorgeous collection 😍
1. The Godin Multiac
2. The BNG stepsister
The Relish Mary 1 is intriguing too!
Where are your acoustics and classical guitars?
Absolute favorite is the ultimate Epiphone build with rootbeer finish. I would like 1st dibs if you ever decide to sell it! That axe is gorgeous! Best wishes for 2020!
13:22 i freakin love it the more i look at it the more i want one! Its really cool shape!
No wife I take it?
@@ToddSauve I would personally never marry anyone who has a problem with me owning several guitars. As long as you can afford them, and it's a well thought out decision, why would you ever want to live with someone who denies you that? Just sounds like a really unhealthy relationship to me

Does it also make you stronger
Darrell, this is a great video and an amazing collection. Awesome that you give some of your guitars for fund raising and charity. So cool! Be well!
I loved Albert Lee guitar, happy christmas!
Thank you from Brazil!
My favourites from your collection:
1) Gold Top PRS Custom 24 (They're like the Rolls Royce of guitar world)
2) Fender Select Strat (Best strat I've ever seen)
3) Schecter PT Special (My favourite T style guitar)
4) Super Strat (Best strat build ever)
5) DBG Aurora (Because Auroras are love)
6) Schecter C1 SLS Elite (Insane performance to price ratio)
7) Midnight 60s Tele (Most beautiful tele in your collection)
8) American Pro Strat (Just because of the sienna burst)
9) Les Paul Std. 120th (just to keep a LP in the game too)
10) Ibanez SA160 (Vfm og)
And the Wreck Blue Morpho Classic is just worth hanging on the display wall.
Thank you Darrell. Amazing Collection... I so enjoy everything you do.
7:24 sticky neck can be fixed or at least treated. I watched a video on Phillip McKnights channel and he was checking out some fender squier strats with a guy called Ron Thorn who is a master builder in the Fender custom shop and what he recommends on glossy necks is carnauba wax specifically the stuff made by Maguire's (yes, the care care products people) and he says to apply it after every heavy session on there to make the neck a lot "faster" and a lot less sticky.... might be something worth doing to help with that
Imagine having so many guitars that you forget their names
My favorite where my eyes almost melted was The Yamaha Pacifica build which Darrell made later. It became so beautiful and the sound made the hairs rise all over the body. 15:11
You didn’t do the silverburst les Paul in the background the whole time... that’s my fav that you have
I was looking and waiting for my favorite guitar you built. The ultimate tele. Loved it so much I've been looking for the body to build one like it.
The red Gretsch is one sexy guitar!
I have one, it's beautiful once you unbind the nut. Takes a bit to set it up right but plays so nice once it is.
@@crazysnake9552 whats the model number of the red gretsch?
I've been waiting for this video for a while now!!
'having lots of guitars doesn't make you (points thumbs at self) a better player'
... yes, this is absolutely correct Darrell, but u are an awesome guitarist mate, your technique 'feel' (that thing that u can't learn or teach, u gotta be born with it) & ability to play many different styles / genres / types of music is inspirational & you are definitely in my top 3 guitar tuition / information YT channels by a country mile.
Don't argue, get real, tune-in to your
inner-bipedal cryptid hominids & their local clan, taking people Missing-411 eating your drying salmon leaving nada & tearing trees apart screaming like the Sierra Sounds clacking rocks snapping branches & leaving 19 x 6in footprints in the mud, in a forest jungle or woodland NEAR YOU ! Right now... FACT.
"SEE Honey !! Darrell explains why I need MORE guitars !!" Thanks Darrell ;)
1 reason is it makes your ears think they sound different even though they dont
You, Sir, are an inspiration. I may not appreciate your amp choice, too much compression and crunch, but your guitars: PERFECTION! I have 40+ guitars and am working on having one-per-week for a year; you've given me several new choices with this video. I thank you!
Question: Where is your first guitar i would have loved to have seen it
I watch this video a year late, but when you mentioned that the Pacifica are a bit rare I remembered that the next to/connected to my work rented out a space from us and built a studio for the local music-school where kids of all ages just can book it for a day for free and have fun.
I'm heart broken that i didn't see the Warmouth Tele hybrid. But im sure it went to a good home.
oh man, I was smiling from the start all the way to the end. Thanks for sharing your collection.
Time for me to be another real pain in the ass! Now that we've seen your guitar collection, how about showing us your pedal collection too?
darrell is a hell of a person after i had lost someone dear to me darrell's videos made me feel so much better
It's not a collection anymore...it's a shop !! xD
1. Green Gretsch - huge Gretsch fan and that one has been on my list a while.
2. Relish - Every time I see the design that went into that thing I just love it a little more.
3. 920d Squire with the Lambertones Crema PU's... Love those pickups.
Wondering if the cracking on the 2 Gibsons is actually due to a dry studio. You're humidifying the studio year-round, correct?
I did an SG .Started with a Vintage ,by Wilkinson .Changed out the gold hardware for chrome .Roller Saddled bridge .Iron Gear pickups .P90 in the neck .Wilkinson 2 hole locking tuners .Tele style knobs .Graphtech nut .
It looks and plays great .Inspired by you guys to try .
I sure have the weirdest collection
A Squier HSH modern
An Airline map std by Eastwood guitars
A starter strat style guitar by a local brand called Hertz
And my Sawtooth Americana Relic Telecaster with Seymour Duncan hot rod pickups
just bought a deluxe Nashville tele today, I spend hours at GC trying to pick my big spend guitar, and I just was drawn to the tele. im in love it has the noiseless pickups and locking tuners
Is the model number for the Ibanez S series stamped on the back of the headstock?
What da hell, I just discovered your YT channel and I loved it. Your voice is surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable and the video and audio quality is magnificent. Subscribe!
27:40 are those really split for single coil tones? I always thought that it was a change of voicing, but still generally a humbucker tone.
Es una colecciòn increìble, felicidades es muy bonita.

This is guitar paradise and we are seriously jealous. Don't do that again!
Eff them. EFF Them! 😡
I like Darrell more than most Utubers....but this vulgar display...there really is no excuse.
@@lueysixty-six7300 just finished Animal Farm. great book.
You probably have the best collection on UA-cam in my opinion

I play the bass, have been for 30 years. I simply love to collect guitars and basses as it is like collecting a piece of art. I sometimes pull them out and just stare at them as I am mesmerized by their beauty. As long as we are enjoying them, and not doing anything stupid out there, then all the best.
