DAHABIYA Egypt Nile Cruise | The Nile Cruise That Beats All Others
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2024
- The big Nile cruise ships seem to be the most popular choice but the secret is something called a Dahabiya which is a sail boat that runs from Luxor to Aswan and vice versa that's 100 times better. Watch to see a full walkthrough of the Dahabiya Loulia with Djed Egypt Travel and why this is the BEST way to do a river Nile cruise on your next trip to Egypt. Open this up to learn more ↓
These are twin-mast sailing ships that are designed after the boats of the same name in the late 1800s and early 1900s when early explorers and archeologists were travelling up and down the Nile. Djed Egypt Travel is the only company that has built these ships to evoke those memories with its design and decor while raising the level of cruising to modern day with small group sizes, all-inclusive Egyptian meals, comfortable cabins, delightful service, and dedicated Egyptologist.
Ditch the big river Nile cruise ships for a bit of sailing where you can actually see what's on the Nile and enjoy it instead of zipping through in a metal box that's meant to keep you inside as opposed to walking local villages, discovering hidden petroglyphs, being at awe at an ancient sandstone quarry, and more importantly not being herded around like cattle.
Ultimate the dahabiya Nile cruise is authentic, it's luxurious, and it'll be the best decision you make out of everything you plan for your trip to Egypt. Hands down.
In this video you'll also meet our Egyptologist, Abdulla Yosef from Djed Egypt Travel!

Really it is a great experience.
It’s one of my favourites!!
Young man!!! As someone who has been not only around the block, but also around the block, I have to tell you that you have the natural voice for narration. In addition, the script, your transitions, your vocabulary, your imagery are superb. Second to none. Good work!!
Wow! This looks a thousand times better than those big standard Nile cruise ships...
It’s pretty amazing. The experience is so much better than the large cruises.
Traveling the Nile via Dahabiya is the only way I am considering for my future Nile cruise. Thank you for this video. It gave me another option for Dahabiya travel that’s even more authentic than the one that I had previously found with Nour El Nil. Your cruise looks like it was AMAZING!
That’s great to know!! I hope you get to go soon.
This is such a relaxing video!!
Really appreciated your video and the one on the 10-day trip. We have booked with Djed for their 14-day tour in early April and are really looking forward to it. Calgary-based so needing some warm weather. You should be getting a commission from Djed.
Hi Keith! Would you be so kind to confirm Djed email? I sent them 3 emails already and I could not get an answer back. Thank you!
What a wonderful breakdown of the total experience! I really appreciate all the info here and am so excited to visit Egypt for the first time in June!
Looks awesome!! Beautiful.
Thanks man! This was truly an incredible experience if you ever get to go to Egypt!
Hello Will, Wow this was an excellent video! My husband and I are planning a trip to Egypt at the end of October. Also looking at a Nile cruise so your video was great help. Your video was so visibly pleasing and your tips great. Can’t wait to check out more of your videos. You produce the best videos I have seen on UA-cam. Thanks! Shawn
I’m so glad you found this helpful. My hope was to really show the behind-the-scenes especially because photos only show so much. Excited about your trip in October. Will you be going with Djed?
Experience the magic of Egypt where it all begins🙏🌹
Your content and video edit are great 👍
Thank you. Appreciate the ❤️!
Lovely video! Planning a dahabiya Nile cruise in February! Can’t wait!
You’re going to love it! Which boat will you be on? If you have any questions just let me know.
Going Awesome Places we will be on the Abundance.
On My Bucket List. I hope soon i can experience this. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks for stopping by!
This is so helpful, thank you!
You’re welcome!!
Going I'm october! So excited 😊
Wow really seems nice.... pleasant vid to watch as well. I wandered onto this because of looking at small cruise boats on the upper Amazon. This video shows nice 'intimate' cruises are available on the Nile, as well.
This is definitely the way to go if you want to see the Nile! Good to know there’s something like this on the upper Amazon. Which company was it there?
Hey Bud..Thanks for the great vid..Actually planning my trip to Egypt now..and choose the Dahabiya...your vid helped
Awesome, I’m so glad!!
Absolutely stunning but expensive af😭
This reminds me of the Turkish Gulet/wooden yacht sailing along the Turkish Rivera which I sailed last June. Only 10 of us +2 crews +captain. Breakfast, lunch, tea time ,dinner included, freshly cooked. Also no shoes on board. We had 3 swimming stops each day in the Mediterranean, also a few hiking up ancient Roman ruins, st Nicholas Island. I was supposed to take Egypt tour this month, but now have to wait until next year.
Do you still have their email or cell? This sounds amazing!
Thank you for this video and all the information!!! I would not have known about dahabiya boats had it not been for this video. I contacted Djed and hope to be in Egypt in March 2024. Much appreciation!
We love hearing this. We’re so glad that this video made a difference and can’t wait for you to experience it all first-hand. You’re going to love it!!
Are the more or less expensive than the big cruise ships?
@melaniesingh7208 I’d say it really depends on which cruise operator you book with. There are cheap ones and also expensive ones. The same goes for dahabiya operators.
VEry impressive (London).
Thank you!
hey nice vid 👌😎il just ask are the meals buffet like the one i saw on the larger cruise ship serving the nile? 🍸🥂
The food looks really good! Do you have any tips when it comes to the drinks in regard to not getting an upset stomach? What can be trusted / not
I would definitely be weary of some of the street food that you might find. If you see them making it fresh, that’s good but it’s the ones where you don’t know how long it’s been sitting there that we stayed away from. Dukorol ahead of time is also a good idea. Also don’t drink the tap water.
Hey how did you go about booking with Djed? I’ve had no luck for a few weeks now. Thanks!
La suite please ?
Merci pour le reste :)
Not critiquing, just educating. I believe you meant late 19th (late 1800s) and early 20th century (early 1900s) when you referred to the “golden age of travel.” Not the 18th and 19th centuries. I address a trivial point, in light of the wonderful info you shared with us. Supposed to go June 2020 on the Orient, so rescheduling for 2021. As an archaeologist, I cannot wait to share this trip with my husband next summer. (Know it is hot then, but it was 117 degrees where we live in Phoenix today).
Thanks for the correction Sylvia! You're going to have a fantastic time aboard the Orient which was actually the first time I sailed with Djed. Big things to look forward to next year :)
Thanks for the great information! I contacted Djed Egypt about booking this cruise. The thing is, when I didn't hear back from them after a few days I wrote and asked them again. I also mentioned that I'm meeting with some people at the end of the cruise and they need to know what day to expect me in Aswan. Still nothing. At the end of the week I wrote to them again and let them know that people were pressing me for the information about when to expect me in Aswan and I couldn't answer them until I knew whether or not I would be on that cruise. Finally a week and a half later they got back to me, but only with a "We'll check and let you know." Then crickets again. The cruise looks great, but not being able to finalize any of my other travel plans until I hear back from them, and having to practically beg them before they even acknowledge that they've gotten my messages is really starting to bother me.
Hey thanks for reaching out. I can try to poke them as well if that helps. Shoot me an email. You can find my contact on the blog.
I am having the same issue trying to book a cruise with them. Did you end up going on a cruise with them?
Let me know if you need help. I can definitely reach out to them.
@@GoingAwesomePlaces Thanks for the reply! that would be awesome :D
Just shot them a message so hopefully they get back to you
Hello nice video. Did you give tips to the chef and other crew?? If so, how much??
Yeah we did. Here’s the guideline: Nile cruise crew - $10-$15 USD per traveller per cruise day (this is shared between all of the crew except your Egyptologist). The Egyptologist is $7-$10 USD a day per traveller.
Amazing video how much did this trip on the boat cost. I am thinking of booking this trip and another but wondering if i can get it all in one. But there are no prices on the site
Great question! They actually have a separate website just for the Dahabiya and the prices can be found here: www.nile-dahabiya.com/itineraries-rates/
1) Where do they dock overnight? 2) Are there maps at hand so you can get an idea how far along you are, and what's coming up? 3) What's the laundry situation? 4) Any tipping guidance?
They dock right along the Nile River! They have their specific spots each night and sometimes it feels like it’s a random spot but I’m sure it’s planned.
There aren’t any laundry services so you’ll need to make sure you have enough clothes.
I have a full guide here: goingawesomeplaces.com/nile-cruise-from-luxor-aswan/
I also have more tips on travel in Egypt: goingawesomeplaces.com/things-to-know-before-going-to-egypt-the-travel-guide/
Map wise I don’t remember any specific ones that we used but with so many books in their library, I’m sure there’s one you could pull up.
@@GoingAwesomePlaces so there's tipping guidance on the "things-to-know" page?
Tipping guideline is actually in the review article (goingawesomeplaces.com/nile-cruise-from-luxor-aswan/) but there’s more information in the travel guide about Egypt in general.
Did you book this online or via an egyptian travel agent once you arrived in egypt.
We contacted them ahead of time and communicated through email and Skype to arrange everything
Hi Bro....can U explain to me about ticket prices for one trip traveling the traditional sailboat ( for one person )...
And from one ticket what the places of destination of this boat ...
Thanks for response
Hey! Yeah I can definitely try to help. Okay so if you take a look at their website www.nile-dahabiya.com/, you'll see the full pricing breakdown. For single occupancy it's 275 EUR/night so if you're going from Aswan -> Esna that's 825 EUR. For more details about the trip make sure to read my blog post here >> goingawesomeplaces.com/nile-cruise-from-luxor-aswan/
@@GoingAwesomePlaces very thank U
👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
What were the rates for the dahabiya? Thanks
what time of the year did you travel please
This was in late November!
How much is the cost per person per night
ankita sinha you can check out my full blog post here which has a detailed cost breakdown - goingawesomeplaces.com/nile-cruise-from-luxor-aswan/
Do you have a discount code for the cruise? I see that the asking price is 190 euro per person per night for a basic cabin. While not too bad, a small discount, even 5 percent, for your subscriber would be nice.
I'm working on it!
@@GoingAwesomePlaces Tell them I am booked on the Sep. 25 cruise from Aswan. Maybe, they could throw in a free dinner at Sofra for your subscribers?
I worked there for a four months ago
That’s great! How did you like working there?
@@GoingAwesomePlaces i love working there so much, it's a great place and everything around y are spectacular views
@@belalnagdy7949 That's so amazing to hear! Did you get a chance to work with Abdulla?
how much it will cost?
Take a look at my Egypt travel guide here for the full breakdown: goingawesomeplaces.com/things-to-know-before-going-to-egypt-the-travel-guide/
It is allowed to sail the Nile on your own sailboat?
I am trying to speak with Djed Egypt Travel and it is impossible! I send 3 emails and no answer at all! Nor sure how trustful is this company...
I can see if I can help. Was your email under the name in your username?
@@GoingAwesomePlaces I fill in my data directly to their website.
@@taispineda9369 Hey Tais! I checked in with Djed and they said they did respond back to you actually. I'm trying to get them to investigate their email server but one thing that's worth checking is your spam folder?
:) :) :)
This was soooooo awesome :)
It would be, to trendy's.
🤔
I came here searching my name 🙄😊
Lol that is too funny!
Egypt is the most dangerous place for tourists in the world. Read up on the recent case of Giulio Regeni, the poor Italian university student who was abducted off the street by egypian police and ended up repeatedly tortured and homosexually raped by the local police chief, before being finally murdered and his body dumped by the same police who abducted him. The real horror is that Regeni was just one, while egyptian lawyers and activists state that at least twenty thousand young egyptians suffer a similar fate at the hands of egyptian military and police EVERY YEAR. For God's sake, do not let your young people travel to this mad, cruel, corrupt country, run by thugs and perverts. Do not go there yourself. Once the police decide to abduct you, to rob, rape or whatever, your chances of getting out alive are negligible. Read up on the Regeni case. The police lied repeatedly and refused to co-operate with international investigations. But the truth got out, in piecemeal fashion, in the end. But, the horror is in the real numbers of more than twenty thousand Egyptian Regenis who die awful deaths EVERY YEAR in this sick, and dangerous nest of perverts and thugs.
@@ahmedelmosher386 I am sorry for you, if you are really a real person and believe that nonsense.Everything I write is based on real investigations by real people who are seriously concerned for the twenty thousand Egyptian Regeni's who suffer the same fate every year in that sick police/army pseudo-state.
You have so much hate.
Get help mate!!!
