Please do an episode of the Nubian people (as long as the powers that be will let you fo so). As I understand it, they had a culture that celebrated the human form, in that the youth were encouraged to be unclothed. It so contradicts strict religious doctrine of Islam and Christianity, that this tradition is probably harshly suppressed. Although I have already been to Egypt 16 times, I was there recently for 4 weeks, I have never been on a cruise before. I stayed again in Asswan for a few days. I would like to do one one day, but certainly not on this type of boat, which I find very impersonal and which keeps you far from the life of the populations on the banks of the Nile. Please do not leave Egypt, without visiting Alexandria, Sharm Al Sheikh, Hurghada, and the Northwestern shores area, it is fabulous places to visit, some of them is maybe compared to Cancun and the Gulf of Mexico resorts. Thanks it is a fantastic episode as usual. Nubians, as ethnicity they speak three different dialects, because it is divided into three regions, Nubians are a unique people, they have their own spoken language with three different dialects. And despite the fact that Nubians are split between Egypt and Sudan, they have their own distinct characters, and they tend more to marry from one another. Nubians used to be a kingdom by their own, and have their own civilizations, but they came under some other empires, which changed their language and also their religion, and then started speaking Arabic, when Egypt itself and Sudan came under the Caliphate. Even in Sudan and because they are a unique population, they tend to come under some sort of bias and prejudice from the Government not from the society, because the Government were afraid, they might ask for independence. They are caring and loving population, you can see some of their expatriates all over Egypt, especially in Cairo and Alexandria, And Sharm Al Sheikh, Hurghada. They like to work in tourism industry, because this is how they grow up doing. Many of whom they speak many languages by practice, not necessary by learning, as they start on a very early age dealing with tourists.
Have you read Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile, Gareth? It takes place in Aswan and on a cruise on the Nile, too. They also stop at sites too. This video made me think of it. Love seeing the ancient Egyptian sites and history.
Troy was filmed in Malta, a very under appreciated travel destination. I spent 30 days there and it’s a great place to visit. I’m going on a similar cruise along the Nile river soon. Look forward to it!
A Nile Cruise is a great bucket-list item, so I’m glad you all got to experience it, Gareth! Next time you can even try a Dahabeya, which is an even more special experience than a traditional cruise ship, because they only have 8-10 cabins (or fewer), are sail boats, and do much more customized itineraries than big cruise ships. Sounds like it would fit your travel style even more!
Thank you Gareth Leonard and Co. Handsome guys, nice voice. Well done documentaries tangling 1:20 subjects as prices, sustainability, ecological aspects. Not too pretentious, close to life kindda documentaries, enlightening and covering subjects you want to know. Really good job! Now, Im gonna see what you experienced in Brazil which i visited for three months...look forward to!
I love Nubian people. They are very tall with long arms and legs, for walking great distances. they are slim and black, almost blue black. They are humble. The model Iman has a very friendly face. Nubian people also have a face like Iman. I made that trip in 1983 and saw some Nubian people on the outskirts of Luxor. Their silhouette is striking, because their stride is 50% longer then a normal human. They exude their humbleness.
Just quick Correction I'm Nubian Egyptian who lives in the states twin city Minneapolis first of all the brother who told you nubian is Sudanese totally wrong information. Nubian were located between Egypt & Sudan N we had our Nubian kingdom. Which is the whole land got destroyed when they built the highdam in the 60s on the other note we do have plenty in common with the Sudanese Brother and sister which is language ( Vatiky- Matoky) similarities in Food as well as wedding Traditions
"Nubia was part of Sudan" say you're sudanese without telling me you're sudanese* Nubia has never been part of Sudan it was an independent region between Egypt and Sudan, then Nubia and Sudan have become part of Egypt during The Egyptian Kingdom era, after that Sudan has got its independence but Nubia still part of Egypt Republic
Since then nubians have merged and integrated with egyptians especially now since there are many projects and migration going on from the north to the south in hope of employment and high salaries and investments.
Please listen carefully to the Voiceover, as I explain that Nubia is where modern day Northern Sudan and Southern Egypt are located... not that they are a part of Sudan, but where Sudan is now. I understand Waleed did not explain this well, so I tried to provide more information.
I am booked on a Nile river cruise in September and after 2 years of no international travel I am so looking forward to it. I was in Egypt 35 years ago and on that trip sailed the Nile on a felucca so this will be a very different experience.

Welcome to Egypt 🇪🇬
Thank you Hazem! 👊
Great video! Lots of nice people. What you did was not a foo foo cruise, it was an experience with Egyptian people.
Thank you so much, and I completely agree! It was such a great and "authentic" experience for us! 😊
Yes Nile river was very very nice I am Filipina and I was there last December for vacations. .and I really enjoyed staying in cruise ship..and we've visit all temples..great luxor nice vlog I enjoyed watching from Kuwait 😊😊😊
Nice to watch your latest vlog.
How did you do it? Did you just fly on your own to Cairo? Then arranged tours with a guide ahead of time before flying to Egypt? Are you in a group tour? What tour agency did you use? Your boat accommodation looks ok.
Back in 1920, it was so mysterious and romantic.
Now...
Colonizing era you mean??
It was the time of adventure and exploration but more precisely it was the time of exploitation n stealing n each one of those explorer/theive went home with a mummy !!!!
How shameless they were .
Now .... they still are ,
keeping their loot i mean😏
I really recommend tourists to go Luxor and Aswan instead of going to Cairo to see the Pyramids, it’s just an incredible experience
Nubian are own pp half Egyptian in Egypt and half in Sudan …old civilization and in Egypt we love them
I really appreciate 😍one youtuber called sony is making bad videos about egypt telling people dont go to egypt.. on the other hands your video and expirence in egypt was great as we can see in your videos .. i hope more people beleive Egypt is afancy plce
we were there before the pandemic, the nile river cruise is really a nice thing to do, you have to do the Jordan’s Red Rose City
This is immediately what I thought of. Being on a cruise on the Nile automatically makes me think of that
Seriously best video I have ever seen in the UA-cam
You are so friendly, glad to see your review ☮️
Thank you very much, Mohamed!
Sounds like it would fit your travel style even more!
ohhh our American friend and one of best advertisers of Egypt tourism hope your channel grow much more
I love to watching your video❤❤❤
Stay safe❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 😊❤️
@@GarethLeonard take care and stay safe❤❤❤
Wow this place is absolutely stunning
Thank you Gareth Leonard and Co. Handsome guys, nice voice. Well done documentaries tangling 1:20 subjects as prices, sustainability, ecological aspects. Not too pretentious, close to life kindda documentaries, enlightening and covering subjects you want to know. Really good job! Now, Im gonna see what you experienced in Brazil which i visited for three months...look forward to!
👏👏👏👏¡Que viaje tan interesante! ¡Saludos desde Buenos Aires! 😘🙋🏻♀️🇦🇷🙏
Magnificent Egypt
Just quick Correction I'm Nubian Egyptian who lives in the states twin city Minneapolis first of all the brother who told you nubian is Sudanese totally wrong information. Nubian were located between Egypt & Sudan N we had our Nubian kingdom. Which is the whole land got destroyed when they built the highdam in the 60s on the other note we do have plenty in common with the Sudanese Brother and sister which is language ( Vatiky- Matoky) similarities in Food as well as wedding Traditions
Beautiful cruise boat…..
"Nubia was part of Sudan"
say you're sudanese without telling me you're sudanese*
Nubia has never been part of Sudan it was an independent region between Egypt and Sudan, then Nubia and Sudan have become part of Egypt during The Egyptian Kingdom era, after that Sudan has got its independence but Nubia still part of Egypt Republic
Nubia is part of ancient Egypt. Not the other way around.
You should visit Siwa Oasis, I'm sure you would like it.
He already did and made a video about
that was beautiful , literally movie set that temple next to the river. Crazy! that was awesome
Right!? For both Luxor and Aswan it felt like we were in the movies. So unreal!
You always deliver great content, Gareth!
I truly appreciate it! 😃
I am booked on a Nile river cruise in September and after 2 years of no international travel I am so looking forward to it. I was in Egypt 35 years ago and on that trip sailed the Nile on a felucca so this will be a very different experience.
@iegypte on Instagram! Text us and we'll help you like we helped Gareth :)
Hey Gareth love all your videos and travel experiences. BTW did you know Pollo Loco is using part of your videos? I just saw you on their commercial LOL… but those weren’t the Birrria tacos they are selling!!!
You're in de Nile about it not counting as a cruise. Haha. just kidding. Awesome. That is totally not a cruise. That's an unbelievable experience. Love seeing this.
