Your video was amazing! So I watched this to give me an idea of the best itinerary. I realize that Alexandria is not what it used to be but it’s my favorite city of all time. Should I skip it?
Glad it was helpful and that you enjoyed it! Alexandria was something I looked into but with 10 days to work with, the dahabiya cruise and what we wanted to see in Cairo and Luxor were just more impressive. I think if we had 2 weeks or more we would've included it.

I actually didn’t know of the warnings until I got back and someone on here mentioned it. We were totally fine and I think for locals, it’s not something they worry about either. That said, if you want to be super safe, probably best to stay out of the water.
i think i changed my mind about a river cruise.. seems so much more unique than big boats. comfort level.. ac?? or no?

Great trip and btw, I read reports that it is not safe to swim in the Nile as one can get Schistosomiasis. Hope you guys were ok.
We didn't have any issues. I read about it after-the-fact but it's definitely something that's good to be informed about for future travellers.

It’ll be enough to do the main highlights in Luxor. Abu Simbel is typically done in half a day so you’ll have plenty of time there

Would you recommend Djed Tours?
I would! We really enjoyed their Dahabiya experience. The only challenge with them is that they’re a bit slow on the communication side of things.
Where can I rent camels that isn’t next to the pyramids? I want to ride them through a desert in the middle of nowhere (obviously with a guide)

Shouldn't the females cover their heads in temples and sacred places?
Egypt is the most dangerous place for tourists in the world. Read up on the recent case of Giulio Regeni, the poor Italian university student who was abducted off the street by egypian police and ended up repeatedly tortured and homosexually raped by the local police chief, before being finally murdered and his body dumped by the same police who abducted him. The real horror is that Regeni was just one, while egyptian lawyers and activists state that at least twenty thousand young egyptians suffer a similar fate at the hands of egyptian military and police EVERY YEAR. For God's sake, do not let your young people travel to this mad, cruel, corrupt country, run by thugs and perverts. Do not go there yourself. Once the police decide to abduct you, to rob, rape or whatever, your chances of getting out alive are negligible. Read up on the Regeni case. The police lied repeatedly and refused to co-operate with international investigations. But the truth got out, in piecemeal fashion, in the end. But, the horror is in the real numbers of more than twenty thousand Egyptian Regenis who die awful deaths EVERY YEAR in this sick, and dangerous nest of perverts and thugs.
