"There was a time when I flew on my own, but now a plane is very useful" Love this guy, even in the face of all he had to go through... He still never lost his sense of humour.... a real life Superman to me.
Christopher Reeve's good friend Robin Williams said it very well, I feel, when Christopher passed, and that was, "As much as I miss him, at least he's finally out of THAT body, and soaring in the Heavens once again, just like Superman!"

I don't care what anyone else says, Christopher Reeve was a true hero. Not everyone could have gone through what he endured and been so accepting of his condition.
I think he always felt, there would be a miracle fix for his problem right around the corner. It is what kept his mind, focussed on a future, he was hoping for. We don't even have it now but AI is getting better every day, so it is a matter of " time and money" for this problem to be solved. Still, not in the corner for these patients. We do face transplants.....huge, but no repair of the spinal cord.
What so many people don't realise is that this is a real life Superman. What Chris Reeve went through was way more what than most normal humans can bare. One of the bravest, most inspiring and wonderful humans to have ever lived. RIP Chris Reeve you will always be missed. A true Superman.
I cried when I heard the news. It broke my heart that I cried infront of my husband. My husband knew I was a big fan of Christopher Reeve. I wish I have meet him in person. I will never forget this real Superman Christopher Reeve. You are no longer with us but you will always be in our heart. Your legacy will live on forever. R.I.P ❤🙏❤
This is a very inspiring man. Look at his smile. He is so positive and so motivating. God Bless you Christopher. You are with the Angels in the presence of God.
Your god, if real, caused him to be in the wheelchair. That’s pretty twisted and pathetic. After all, god is in control of EVERY aspect of the universe, correct? Or is your god weak and just a bumbling idiot? Lol what I’m trying to say is, keep your disgusting fairytale beliefs out of real-life discussions.
God, what indescribable dignity and stoicism he displayed here and indeed, ever since his accident until he died. In a cape and tights he may have saved the world, but in a wheelchair he truly became the Man of Steel. RIP.
Christopher Reeve was, indeed, Superman. He and his wife, Dana, were true inspirations to all of us. RIP, good man, and now you have your Lois Lane with you, to fly forever. You are both so very missed.
Doctor Strange im not trying to be a smart ass but what scriptures say homosexuality is wrong? i think its moraly wrong but i dont know the scriptures.
Doctor Strange I am thank you for the info. I know God forgives and even some lgbt have christian churches and i cant wrap my head around that but yes thank you.
Looking back now I realise that I had the great privilege of sharing dinner with him just as the Superman film was about to be filmed........He was so well mannered and no big ego just an ordinary young guy.....I will always fondly remember him not just for being a great actor of many films but also a warm caring human being....RIP Chris.
I got to sit 10 feet away from him at a Ranger game. Being in the same room as him was a dream come true .He was my child hood hero and still is my hero today. Inspired me to-do what is right and help those in need. Thank you Superman and may you RIP
I tear up every time I see Christopher's bravery and advocacy. Dana was amazing. They were BOTH amazing human beings. RIP Christopher and Dana Reeve. ♥️
17jun1989 I'm the same but I think Henry Cavill has taken on the role really well. I'm a HUGE Superman fan and Chris Reeve will always be the best but I really feel Henry is the only other Superman that can carry on from Chris. I'm not talking about the acting at all, it's almost like Henry is Chris Reeve, if that makes sense, lol.. Its just a natural fit. He even looks like Chris! I saw an amazing picture earlier that someone had made, and it was half of Henry's head and half Chris's head, it matched up perfectly. :-)
Eric Draven I agree Henry just has that special something I'm not knocking all other the other actors that played Superman but Henry just has it. He and Tom Welling who played teenage Clark Kent on "Smallville" almost look alike I mean they even have the same mega watt smile.
I've done some research. In most cases with patients injuries such as Reeves, they wouldn't have lived more than a month after such accident. Reeves lasted a mind boggling 10 years! :-o Pretty much a real superman if you ask me...
Very true, so ironic that he went from everyones favourite superhero to the shell of a man he became. I mean this with no disrespect, I say "shell" as a physical attribute and not anything to do with kind, good natured person he was. He did however share a strength with the character he played, his unbreakable spirit. He will live long in all of our hearts. See you soon buddy ;-)
Christopher Reeve - my one true childhood crush. He left the very best superhero legacy of all time. He truly was kind at heart. I do not believe anyone else can top his classic performance.
He was Superman to me. Whenever I jumped off the couch reenacting that epic Niagara Falls rescue, I imagined I was him. A walking paragon of strength, honor and virtue. Doing good for the sake of good. It's ironic how after his accident you got to know how much of that essence already resided in him. Yes he had personal investment in his research but he fought for everyone in a wheelchair and faced the same adversities they did regardless of his wealth and celebrity. He was Superman to me, the second father figure in my life and the person I wanted to be. And he still is. RIP Chris; I hope you're flying on your own again up there because DAMNIT you earned those wings.
My dear SUPERMAN... My dear Hero from my childhood until today... I saw and I see your true strenght now. I am positive, more than the phisical strenght, the most precious and strong power is Kindness... THANK YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE. :)
Still just breaks our heart seeing what happened to Chris and his wife. RIP to the both of them and we hope their children live their lives to the fullest. They had two amazing parents.
Truly Heartbreaking. How he hung on and kept his spirits up is beyond me. I don't know if I'd want to live like that. But he was a remarkable man that lived the rest of his time here on Earth doing all he could to raise awareness to his injury and to find a cure. Truly an Amazing man with a heart of Gold.
He was always Hoping and praying for the Best,... Always a spark of hope that he was gonna get better again get well,..... Makes me so sad, thinking about all of it,.. :(

This is why he was worthy to play Superman. He has the mindset of what we as humanity should aspire too. Fly now Mr. Reeve let your robin and pan fly with you always.
I'm just thinking of Christopher Reeves today and appreciating not only his work in film but his activism. Thank you, Christopher, for all you did for people with disabilities. Thank you. 💌
Just Imagine to have everything in Life:Beauty,Charisma,Talent,Money,Success and above all Health and Suddenly lose all that in one day, like Reeve...Huge Congrats for his Brave, his Courage, his Physical & Mental Strength to cope with that Disease that totally changed his life and also for his Willingness to help others with the same Deformity and that's because he faced his fatal accident as a motivation to Help,Offer & Improve others lives... RIP Christopher Reeve, you were a True Hero in Life and you will always be remembered as a True One...!
He didn't lose his 'beauty, charisma, talent," etc......being physically disabled didn't change those things. And he always had the love of his family and friends. As he said himself in interviews, he still had plenty to live for even after his tragic accident.
@@karldunnegan2689 In order to avoid any probable misunderstandings, because maybe i didn't make myself clear... Of course, i agree with you, it's non-negotiable that Mr Reeve didn't lose any of his qualities, talents, or charismas due to his terrible accident. That's an undeniable fact. Through my comment, i just pointed out how one's life can be turned so dramatically upside down within one day, that everything you had taken for granted in your life like health or beauty, now is completely altered, deformed, or being constantly at stake. That's unquestionable i believe in all harsh accidents (like Schumacher's case also), and it could happen to everyone. Undeniably, inner beauty, personality, gifts are unchangeable no matter what happens... Besides Reeve's constant work after his accident to aware the public on spinal cord injuries and the importance of finding stem cells to improve patient's quality of life, and also his quest for raising money in order to create a Foundation working for that purpose & leaving a legacy even nowadays, proves that he was much more than a talented and handsome man!
Seems like only yesterday I was a kid in the 80,s watching him as Superman, so sad this happened, and how the time is flying .. be nice to each other ! Out there
It's so sad to see him like that. I also was really sad when I heard he died. I was only few years old back then but I loved him as Super-man so it was quite emotional for me.
once you can see it in the face, as if the skull is pressing through the skin and givs the face this strange appearence...i dont know how to describe it better, but if someones face looks like that, death is approaching fast. so sad, this man really REALLY deserved better in his life. may he rest in peace :(
It still breaks my heart about his accident but what an extraordinary gentlemen. Courage, humor, intelligence and hope in one individual. Very rare. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
you are and you will remain Superman not only because you have interpreted it, but because you were a special person. As a woman and disabled person I thank you for giving us hope, now rest in peace, or the rest of the hero!
This Man Right Here Change My Life When He Graced The Screen As Superman, He The Reason I've Been A Fan Of Superman, A Fan Of Comics A Fan Of Entertainment, Him Playing Superman Made Me The Man I became today i miss this man a lot i looked up to him like a father cause of him playing superman, seeing him in that wheelchair shows me how much courage he has he was still superman he was still a hero, and the video dislikes is very disrespectful but i guess idiots don't kno better, i love him and miss him alot god bless him R.I.P.
Christopher Reeve is the Man Of Steel...I was honnored to have met him (briefly) but my father got me my first and only 2 autographes from him. He was a great man, I miss him very much. I remember when I heard about his death...I was in the car on my way to work. It was a dark day for me. But I saw the light when I saw all the research and the success of his foundation. He was an inspiration to us all.
He was blessed cus god give her a woman like diana reeves who take care of him. Who give him courage and strenght. Always right by his side. After reeve's passed away last 2004. His wife diana died in 2006.
Christopher Reeves was truly Superman. He never gave up raising money to help the helpless. Tragic he died 6 days after this great speach. RIP Christopher Reeves (Superman)
He had to know he was gonna not make it and sadly failed. But he did what he could for spinal research and still the foundation exists! For this he is for all of us is, was and still will be Superman. He died still not knowing he would walk again. But still was brave for us all. Look at how science and technology has evolved since him.. Still amazing.
Robin Williams said it best about his longtime and closest friend..."May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest sweet prince" Rest in Paradise to both of them.

Jesus. That's pretty fuckin sad. Try looking at cute kitty videos on UA-cam
well, look around for more reasons to find hope. There are there; or look deep inside of you. They are also there.
Yes it would of been wonderful to see him walk again on this earth, but he was taken to an even more heavenly place.
He will walk through you. Never lose hope, walk with it on your chest day in and day out.
My mom passed away in may of this year. She really loved this great actor. I hope she finally got her chance to meet him in heaven. God bless you all.
She didn't because Chris belongs to me. I am The Devil👺
God bless Christopher Reeve
A hero from the very beginning to the very end. I will NEVER forget his courage!
WHOEVER KNOWS WHAT GOD HAS PLANED FOR US. R.I.P. KIND SIR!!!
RIP
Christopher Reeve
(1952-2004)
I'm just thinking of Christopher Reeves today and appreciating not only his work in film but his activism. Thank you, Christopher, for all you did for people with disabilities. Thank you. 💌
Reeve was a great superman. He was the only actor who was convincing as superman and clark kent. like 2 different people
Captain Rhodes Agreed
"Somewhere In Time", had brought me here, "what a inspirational man"!🙏👏🏽
Incredible gentleman and an amazing wife...
Muito triste o que aconteceu com ele, porém nunca haverá outro Superman, ele foi o único. Saudades
He was,is and always will be my hero.

Still??? Just curious
Out there
He died 6 days after this speech 😥 R.I.P Christopher Reeve
THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES CHRISTOPHER.
I agree - strong and such a kind man. The angels took him right up but I truly believe god himself lifted this man.
He so very dearly and missed...One of my favorite movies of him it was Somewhere in Time...R.I.P Superman
It's so sad to see him like that. I also was really sad when I heard he died. I was only few years old back then but I loved him as Super-man so it was quite emotional for me.
once you can see it in the face, as if the skull is pressing through the skin and givs the face this strange appearence...i dont know how to describe it better, but if someones face looks like that, death is approaching fast.
so sad, this man really REALLY deserved better in his life. may he rest in peace :(
Malefizia when?
Reeve died about a week after this speech was made.
(Malefizia) I didn't know this and he did die 6 days after this speech rip
He died because he coudnt stand antibiotics administered not because he was ill
muscle wasting?
And now Superman's room mate Peter Pan has joined him up in the sky.
He was, is and always will be Superman in my eyes, as I grew up he was my hero. He his missed. RIP Superman
It still breaks my heart about his accident but what an extraordinary gentlemen. Courage, humor, intelligence and hope in one individual. Very rare. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
He was a real SUPERMAN with a real SUPERWOMAN by his side. RIP.
6 days before he passed. So sad to see.
Somewhere in Time was a great movie.
Since 1981 until now I always watching it.
you are and you will remain Superman not only because you have interpreted it, but because you were a special person. As a woman and disabled person I thank you for giving us hope, now rest in peace, or the rest of the hero!
He was Superman he was a great actor RIP in Chis your memory will live on forever you were one of Hollywood's greats.
It's unbearable to see this. What a good soul
This is such a bittersweet video. I don't think anyone expected this to be his last public appearance. RIP Christopher Reeve (aka Superman).
Happy birthday Chris!! We miss you even though a lot of us never met you or knew you.
He is a true Superman
He always was Superman and always will be. No one can replace him. He made me love Superman. R.I.P you will always be our hero.
An Incredible man, still remembered from the enjoyment of his Superman movies to his incredible
strength, kindness and courage and intelligence.
He was an inspiration to us all.
the most beautiful man I've ever seen!!! untill the end. ❤
YOU ARE SUPERMAN!!!!
Im going to miss you man :(
Love you so much! True superman
