- I helped a friend fix his surging Honda Generator. It had been running like this a long time, but it's a pretty easy fix. These are great generators!

That is a wonderful generator. Will last for many years provided one takes care of it and doesn't leave stale gas in it.
The same with most any gas engines, but yes, Honda stuff is built well for the most part.
You guys make it look so easy 😆
Well done, sir …

Easy is relative I guess. I can’t play the guitar but it looks easy. Thanks for watching
Good old Honda. Got an old Olen in the RV that is not running. haha. 3500 HF special been working great for the toyhauler.Good job Tinkering Tom!
I really like my HF Predator but there’s no doubt that the Honda is a great unit.
First video I've seen that actually shows how to adjust the pilot screw. They all are set too lean from day 1.
Yeah, emissions requirements I’m sure dictate the way it’s set from the factory.
I just pulled my genny out a couple days ago and had this problem. Got lucky though and was able to run enough carb cleaner through it to get it running well in about 10 minutes. But my trials bike is going to need a full break down like you show here. Thanks for the awesome vids Tom!
I set a reminder in my phone to start my generator every six weeks. I run it for 15 minutes under load (small space heater) We can pull the carb off the trials bike and have it ripping in an hour or so.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Let's do it!
First man i've seen do a correct carb clean, most the others leave out to pilot circuit and all never adjust the mixture screw.
Thanks for watching, it’s easy to overlook the pilot circuit on these carbs. Had to clean the one on my Predator generator as well, very similar.
The eco throttle should work with a load or no load. Did you forget to plug the wire back on top of the carburettor?
It did work, I don’t think I showed it on the video. Good generator.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventuressorry I thought you mentioned in the video it probably needed a load on the generator for eco mode to work. We have this generator and the eco mode drops the rpm down quite a bit when there is no load.
@@denisecavallaro8927 I was doing something wrong, but it did work. Was the first time I had ran one of these.
10:30 , what is that deal you made out of the fan base?
A stand to hold my camera.

Simple and quick....?
It took about 20-30 minutes, pretty quick repair considering that a repair shop will likely charge you $100.
And most shops won't adjust that screw, anyway. It's supposed to break when you remove it. Then it's supposed to be replaced with a new one to factory spec (probably 1.25 turns again). Then the cap is supposed to be put back on with Loctite 638 (high strength retaining compound).
Eco throttle should work regardless of load. You still have a problem.
I think the wire connection was loose because it worked later. I pushed the connection together and it was fine.
You really need to use a camera stand, the quality of the content is good but production sucks.
I do at times, other times I don’t. Surprisingly difficult to work around a camera at times. You’re hired for production purposes, the pay is not good….
