It's a crying shame I didn't know you were in Glynneath. It's only an hour's drive from me and I'd have driven up to meet you 😁
Well what's a shame Alan I think I should put on the notice for more often where I am going and hopefully next time my friend
So true about when feeling down watch something that makes you laugh ❤
Absolutely Dawnie The trick is to make yourself switch something on like that. Thank you, alan

Great video again Alan. Shame they don't make shows like this anymore.
I know what you mean David there were good or fashion non-complicated humor
Simon Caddel is buried in Honington cemetery in Suffolk, where dad’s army was filmed around the area.
That's extremely nice of you to give me the information thank you if I get the chance how do it take care Linda
@@MotorHomeBeepBeepAlan have you done Charlie drake or tommy Cooper
@@GuyBaldersonyorksJust like that!!
Simon Cadell was the cousin of Guy Siner who played Lieutenant Gruber in Allo Allo. You can see the family resemblance…
Just hearing her say Hi Di hi in that lovely Welsh accent used to make me smile. Another lovely video. Thanks.
Thank you, Carol
Loved Ruth ❤
Thank you for this Video, very interesting 😊
Cheers John
She came to my home town of Bargoed near Caerphilly. She opened the Tenovus charity shop.
Sad to learn Ruth is no longer with us......rest peacefully lovely lady ❤
WELL OH BOY I REMEMBER HER SHE WAS A GREAT LAUGH I WAS VERY YOUNG WHEN THIS KICKED OFF WELL ALAN THIS IS A GOOD ONE MY FRIEND YOU DO GOOD STUFF I MUST SAY HAPPY WEEKEND
I've just written to you above but I thought I would say I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I actually cut that down in size because sometimes I think they're too long but I put a survey on them. People seem to like the longer ones so I won't do that again. Thank you, alan
I refuse to believe sheh has gone
Fingers in ears lalala
Another good video Alan. She was a lovely lady and always seemed so full of fun, in her roles as an actress anyway. I loved her real Welsh accent as well. She was great in Hi De Hi and also in Benidorm. Such a sad ending to her life as I am sure she would have had more fun filled years in her. A lovely video for a lovely lady.
Thank you Louise. Yes, there's been quite a few that died recently because of accidents. I think there's a message there when you get older. You've got to treat yourself with cotton wool. All the best, alan
Nice one I love your videos and think it's fab you leave a beeb flower. Good personal touch.
Hi Stumpy i like it also makes one feel good :-)
Really enjoyed this well done x
During the eighties Ruth was doing a "thing" at the end of the pier in Bournemouth were I lived at the time. I was fishing one weekday morning and while walking down the pier I noticed Ruth was walking towards me. I was about 17/18 at the time and we just smiled at each other in recognition and walked past each other, I remember thinking "my God look at those eyes". :)
I love the little personal memory Thank you!
Her brother played the U boat captain in the famous Dads Army episode The Deadly Attachment
Ruth & Philip lived in the village that I was living in. Sawtry Huntingdon. And every year she was asked to open the village fete. She was well known in the village. But, no one bothered her. Which she liked
Very interesting personal comment thank you Graham
I thought Ruth was a brilliant actress and very funny, thank you, Alan for the chance to see where she's resting now I will check out your other channel 👏👏🤗
Thank you so much for this video they,ll never make shows like this again it's all that reality tv now which I don't find appealing.
Ruth rest in peace you are missed by all of your fans.
It was wonderfully simplistic and innocent humor thank you Wendy
Beautiful and talented woman 💕 so many happy childhood memories watching Hi-De-Hi!
Great video. really enjoyed it! thank you.
Kind of you Sue
Great episode Alan
Thank you, Graham
What a beautiful place, she was a great lady. Thanks Alan.
It is a beautiful place and it's where she lived I'm just happy that people remember so well thank you Carol.
A Lovely video and tribute to a lovely actress and a lovely lady I loved watching Ruth in Hi Di Hi I think she was absolutely brilliant and funny thanks Alan well done
Hello Kevin
She was very nice and very down to Earth in real life I watched a few interviews, it seems like all the people we watched when we were young are disappearing but it's nice to see that final place I hope. All the best my friend hope you have a little weekend Alan
Alan you have loads of compassion and we thank you for doing what you do . Love watching your channel
Hello Ronnie That's very lovely of you to say it makes it a lot more enjoyable to do when people enjoy. But I do really like to visit these people we remember. Thank you and see you again soon. Alan
So true about laughter Alan. Ruth gave us so much to laughter. Have a great week.
There's not enough of it. Is there sparkle? ✨
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep no you are correct. Since I became a widow and moved back to UK from the US it’s been hard. But my husband said never loose your smile or spark! So if I’m down. I look for something funny to watch. It helps.
I live not far from here. I’ll have to pay her a visit, bless her. There’s a lovely portrait of her painted on a BT phone exchange box in Llansamlet, Swansea where she grew up. She lived near another Welsh legend Max Boyce. I actually saw her a few times walking while carrying shopping bags through Glynneath.
You could have travelled a little further up the valley and visited the resting place of Stuart Cable in Llwydcoed Crematorium. It’s 14 years since he died.
Nice video, I’ll pay Ruth a visit and take flowers. 🌷
Hello Caroline, that's nice that you actually got to see her working around locally and it will be great if you do get a chance to visit the local people. Didn't realize she was buried there and nearly got put off thinking I was in the wrong place. Do you think that Stuart has any plaque to remember him? All the best, alan
Hi Alan, yes, there is a plaque for Stuart in Llwydcoed Crematorium. If you use What Three Words, you’ll find it at: safely.loud.reveal
Oh, and iechyd da 🥃 ( it probably sounds like yucky da to you) means “good health” when you raise a glass to someone. Cheers. 🍻
Hello again Alan. I’ve been today to see the grave. My satnav in the car tried sending me to the next road down.
The road up to the cemetery is actually the road I saw her walking down a few years ago. I had goosebumps when I realised. Your flower is still there of course. Did you see the statue of Max Boyce and the mural of him on the pub wall? Those are nearby the cemetery.
It has a beautiful view, the cemetery. No wonder she chose to be buried there.
@@carolineharry6605 Hello, Caroline if it was in the last three years you saw her she may have been visiting her husband who died in 2021 that must have been a weird experience to think that the last time you saw it was just outside!
Like yourself, my sat nav took me to the main road at the bottom and was going to take me up a side road but as I was driving the motorhome I was worried that too small it had a sign. I asked two local people close to the cemetery both didn't know she was there but decided to go and walk to the cemetery and of course, I'm glad I did. A chap working there took me to the spot.
Wonderful that you found it not so easy without the stone.
Alan, a friend of mine that lives near Glynneath tells me Ruth bought property there in 2002. So she was certainly living near the cemetery.
Satnav isn’t always accurate unfortunately. No wonder we hear about lorry drivers getting stuck on bridges etc.
I’m glad you managed to find the grave too.
I enjoy your videos very much. Long may you continue. ☺️
Another instant classic in the books Alan, nicely done
Great as always Alan 👏👏🦾
Moggy and you my friend. You're a powerhouse of enthusiasm. Thank you!
Loved Hi de hi .. such a funny programme ...Loved Ruth & her beautiful accent ...Lovely Tribute Alan
Hello Debbie she was super Welsh wasn't she? But very funny. Thank you for the great comments
Met Ruth before the hi de hi shows lovely lady and missed ,Mark the psychic.
At 2mins 40 you say in 2002 she had a fall and died, but it was in fact 2022, I know this was just a easy mistake while doing the video but just thought I’d mention it. Great video by the way, 👍🏻 Ruth sure was a great actress and person!
Love your videos
I love you for saying that Debbie :-)
Hi Allan another great video really enjoyed very much like ruth madock made me laugh 😊
Hi User yeah she's one of those classic, the actresses that did an excellent job. In an accidental way. See you again my friend. Alan
Thank you Alan
It was a pleasure John. See you again soon. Alan

Hi Rocka That's absolutely lovely to hear that. I started about 2 years ago but I kept stopping because I had to but I've just retired so hopefully I'll have more time because it's lovely to get to know people that regularly view and the ones that just drop in. Sometimes they are very interesting things to say so thank you. From the beginning to now it's a nice size. If it grows no more, I'm happy. See you again soon. Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep ALAN you have known me for ages but i think rocka is a better name for a channel rather than derek fortune the trouble was they didnt believe that was my name people thought it was a fake channel still you cant win em all but alan your a great man god bless ya
Lovely video Alan. Loved her on Hi De Hi! You are right about laughter! Helps the blood and heart blood vessels relax. So I expect a good joke on your channel soon. Happy retirement Alan
User I think I need to laugh quite a few hours of the day 😁 thank you for your kind of wishes

Another good one alan. Yea used to love watching Hi di Hi! she played a great part in it didnt she. didnt no she had passed, bloody hell you have to watch you dont fall from about fifty on Apparently you are really prone to internal complications if you do, especially if you brake a limb. scary isnt it.
Oh my god James I never thought of it like that I always tend to think that people in their 70s of this problem especially if they break their hips but I guess you're right keep it up right :-) thanks for the encouragement my friend Alan
Thanks Alan ❤
My pleasant Charmaine
She was a very attractive lady i think. Beautiful area to be laid to rest. I came across this video accidentally as i didn't receive the normal notification. Has this happened to anybody else or is Alan just picking on me 😂😂.
Hi Meg I am sorry about that it's not being did if you have any more problems that may now and I'll try and find out why you don't get notifications
@MotorHomeBeepBeep no problem Alan . It hasn't happened before I'll just keep an eye out from now on.
Where in Wales is Glynneath emetery Alan. Such a good actress and very funny in Hi de Hi, as were the rest of the cast. Happy Days. Tku again Alan.
Wonderful. Could you please find and present the grave of the fantastic Jimmy Clitheroe. It would be much appreciated.
Never knew she had sadly passed 😢
Nice one ,❤
Cheers Mark
She had a part in Fiddler on the Roof playing Lazer Wolffs first wife.
ALL THE BEST ONES HAVE LEFT US REAL SHAME I FEEL
Surely some one could have put a proper headstone there for her all the laughter she gave to us no family no friends my God resting I hope
I think it's just a temporary thing Sue I remember doing Roy Hood and it was the same thing. His wife lived next door
I do hope so for a lovely funny lady
I have visited Simon Cadell final resting place last year he was in hi-de-hi he passed away back in 1996 very sad 😢 not many of them left from hi-de-hi show
I was born and bred in Honington , saw lots of the actors and actresses that appeared in David Crofts Productions, when they visited Mr and Mrs Croft, in the village,
Hello Philip, yes he was great as the boss it was being chased. I would love to do that myself one day. Thank you. Regards, Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep it’s a easy one to find as it’s a very small, Cemetery
Alan, could you find yootha joyce' last resting place ❤️ I found her extremely funny
Yootha Joyce was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium, her ashes are scattered there also. I hope that helps. 😁
Hello Deborah, the gentleman is correct about Golders Green Crematorium so I don't think it's an actual location but she was fantastic accommodate and I understand why you would like to see take care of yourself Alan
Deborah, just a suggestion but findagrave is an excellent resource for research. I used it for my work and also as a keen tapophille.
Thanks Alan.
Why no gravestone?
She lived at Stilton near Peterborough for many years.
Hi Alan how's U matey lovely woman Ruth saw her once years ago
Hi there, I actually went to Glyneath cemetery a few months ago (I have an auntie buried there not far from Ruth) to look for Ruth....I had been around that area but didn't realise she was a Jackson....
Hello Gail, I asked a few people that live near the cemetery and nobody realized one chat was sending me into the village so look at it. I managed to find the amount of work in the cemetery and they took me to the actual spot and knew that that was her husband's name. Now you can find it. All the best, Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep I didn’t know her husband’s name at the time when visiting the cemetery and my dad said years ago Ruth lived in Glyneath….. many thanks in replying, next time I’m near by I’ll have another look but I’m sure I seen it before and never twigged it was here
Ruth died in 2022. I loved her role as the ghost in the film Fiddler on the roof .
Iechyd da means good health but it’s what you say for “Cheers!” 😊 I just saw her last night in her last TV role, as an elderly mother in Beyond Paradise.
Yakida I'm sure that's wrong but I know it means. Cheers! All the best, alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Yes it is spelt iechyd da 😉
I had no idea that she was married to the German officer from Dads army 😮😊
Exactly Deborah me neither
2022 Alan, not 2002
Well spotted Sherlock
Hi Alan mate good video,I also heard you say 2002,but hey just a slip of the tongue no problem mate,Good tribute Cheers.
I thought i was going mad as you said she died in 2002 (subtitles confirm this) I thought it was only a couple of years that she sadly died, and it was December 2022 when she died.
It's all right Pauline. One slip of the tongue and everybody tells me don't worry 😉
Ey up Alan so sorry I've not been on for a long time
No problem Guy I hope you're doing well you Yorkshire lad 😎
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep just missing my dad Alan

That’s where I used to live and still go back to visit Dawn
God's Country 🏴🙏
Alan, where is Leslie Phillips buried
Hi Alison It's a good idea come I will actually sat at the same table as Leslie but when he got up to leave at the end of the evening about 20 years ago almost it wasn't in the best of moves that we put it that way :-)
Shame she hasn't got a headstone!
I think there will be one it's because it was relatively recently
Ho di ho... :(
When will she have a grave stone so sad rip
Hello Darren, it usually seems to be a couple of years. There's been a few like this
Why no headstone
For some reason they usually wait a couple of years. I'm not sure why but I'm sure it will get will eventually
So, where are her children? Why haven't they bothered to get a headstone for their mother?
Usually it takes a year or two. I'm not sure why they wait so long but they do seem to.
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep You can put one up 6-12 months afterwards.
Alan hsve you done John inman or
Correction: Madoc - no k.
I’m a little surprised they haven’t got a proper headstone? Or is the cross a temporary thing.
Hello Terry I've seen it before. It's just a temporary thing. Usually it's a year or two later when the stone arrives
It’s common practice to wait at least a year for the ground to ‘settle’ before a headstone is put up so hopefully that’s the case!
Iechyd Da = Good health, said as a toast.
I've got to be honest I did look it up after the video I tend to do them in one go so what ever I say I say etc that thank you for that :-)
Welsh for ‘Cheers’ essentially.
Did you say she was 79 in 2002 when she died? So, Was she 59 in Hi di hi? Bloody hell, I thought she was a young woman in that.
Kevin, it was 2020. There's been quite a lot of people pointing out that slip up near the end. If you watched a bit while I read it, I give the dates out. It was just the slip of the tongue my friend. All the best Alan
