I'm surprised more of them didn't appreciate Matthew's modeling. He has natural charisma and even made eye contact with the camera multiple times. It has to be because his back was to them, because I could clearly see his experience and his confidence peeking through.
I went into this thinking Emily would be at least top 4 cause of her looks, and I thought she might have been even higher when she named the brands she worked with. At the end I was SHOCKED to hear she wasn't allowed to make money for herself. I can't believe the USA can do that to someone.
> I can't believe the USA can do that to someone. US taxpayers are giving her 850 dollars a month, and they are allowing her to earn her own living if she chooses to. She chooses not to, in order to stay on that welfare at everyone else's expense. This is a charity recipient, not a victim.
@@ChrisStavros She's not on welfare, she's on disability. She has a lot of medical issues and can't work. There is zero way she could make a living as a model.
@@ChrisStavros it's not a choice when the alternative is to be homeless and/or either extremely ill or dead, depending on her disability. $850 is more than most places charge for rent these days, let alone speaking about basic necessities, food, electricity, etc. etc. It's simply ridiculous to give people money that literally forces them into poverty (she doesn't have a choice to just not be disabled), and then also take away their ability to earn anything else. Life-saving medical care at the cost of crippling poverty is not a choice. But idk it sounds like you don't really consider disabled people "worth" what the "taxpayers" are "giving" them. so idk.
Was shocked to hear Emily isn't allowed to be paid more. I was expecting her to be towards the front after being in London fashion week. It be really cool if these brands who can't pay her donated the money she deserves to a charity of her choice.
The American healthcare system makes me so angry. Emily, and others in her / a similar position, deserve so much more. She's incredible and the system there doesnt help.
Thing is , it makes sense. Ik you feel bad bc she's pretty+disabled blah blah but guess what? It honestly just depends on how much you book or the company you’re booking for. But i will say It’s hard to make a lot of money as a model in general, though. the highest paying modeling jobs/opportunities are almost always given to public figures/celebrities for a collaboration. It is a tragic injustice that Emily is not allowed to be paid as well as any other model and that if she does she loses the security of social support. That is truly tragic.

Do something. Write to your congressman. Start a petition. Donate to charities for disabled people. Complaining and being outraged does nothing to help us.
The law has to change. The say SSI works is you cant make more than a certain amount or have more than a certain amount to recieve benefits. The issue is its too low and the threshold needs to be higher especially with the way the economy and inflation is. Write your local government and tell them how you feel. And if you can try to donate to causes that help disabled people.

@@U-wabo My said because of helth care and health aid. So probably like her physitherapy, meals coupoms weel chair, nurse home visit, adapted taxis, etc are all paid for and the 850 would be like her allowance.
@@douglasquaid2548 she actually can't easily get off SSI without detrimental effects to her life and health more than likely so please don't assume things like this. She literally said she needs this money to live and as someone in a very similar situation to Emily getting off SSI as well as other programs makes it harder to receive these things again, especially as she is on SSI and not SSDI which for most adults is harder to get because the younger you get on a program like these three better your chances of keeping the program you need to help you survive. It's also not necessarily her choice to be on it when the other option is an extreme lack of vital care for her conditions and help with things she literally is not capable of doing on her own.

did anyone else expect them to be earning more? after watching the influencer version of this, the model money seems low in comparison
The average model only makes like 35k 😭 most models are broke
@@-danny. 😭😭
Yeah, most models make minimum wage. These people aren’t a great representative of a realistic portrayal of modeling.
Maybe that’s why I see lots of models become influencers too.
Unless you’re nepo models don’t make a lot
I'm surprised more of them didn't appreciate Matthew's modeling. He has natural charisma and even made eye contact with the camera multiple times. It has to be because his back was to them, because I could clearly see his experience and his confidence peeking through.
This was so much fun I appreciate you creating a space for people to speak their truths within their reality! Thank you for having me 🙏🏾
You all were great! So sweet and humble. :)
I work at Tommy and was so excited to see you in this video! I spent a lot of time working on projects with your shots ☺

@@karolinaatsalis3568 oh wow aha talk about full Circle. I appreciate you 🙏🏾
I went into this thinking Emily would be at least top 4 cause of her looks, and I thought she might have been even higher when she named the brands she worked with.
@@ChrisStavros I agree but it doesn't make sense to me cause she'll make more modeling than getting the cheque
@@TheAdvisor6440 bc they pay for her insurance too, which I can imagine is very expensive. If she wasn’t on it, she’d have to pay insurance herself
But idk it sounds like you don't really consider disabled people "worth" what the "taxpayers" are "giving" them. so idk.
When that girl asked where everyone buys food and said “I shop at whole foods, I’ll move up” I gagged a bit.
That genuinely pissed me off LOL. I know people who make way more than she does and they shop at Kroger. Like bro 😂
Genuinely! She thinks shopping at Whole Foods is some sort of personality trait or defining feature. Like no one cares 😂
if she said erewhon itd make more sense
They were asking a bunch of questions like that--that was just the question that the editors kept in and now y’all are being rude to her about it….
@@Zombiesparkles Kroger is so expensive to me😩🤣 I stick to Walmart😂
They all very lovely, and I liked how they all complimented each other.
Facts!
Thing is , it makes sense. Ik you feel bad bc she's pretty+disabled blah blah but guess what? The money has to come from somewhere , it's not the gov job if someone was born different for instance or hurt from a crash.
Things happen.
If she literally still is able to make 850 or more a month then she legit can opt out to quit the gov funds ... she just decides to not. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
i was lucky enough to share the runway with emily for sinead o'dwyer at london fashion week - so happy to see her here
Jaelynn putting herself first because she shops at Whole Foods is such a weird take. People shop at Whole Foods with food stamps…it’s not a space reserved for only a certain class of people. Plus anyone who shops there exclusively is probably just financially irresponsible.
I love when she tried to sneak 5k extra in the last part xD
@@shortclub7011 yeah that seemed kind of petty
@@shortclub7011 I don’t think she tried to sneak it in, she said she makes on average 110k but this past year she made 115k. She also said she doesn’t believe she’s first

The fact that victoria made $5k and kept trying to move herself up in the line instead of navigating towards the end of the line. LOL
I don't think she had bad intentions because Modeling cash wise don't pay much. The only reason I modeled was to move to USA or Europe which I eventually did.
Such a fraud lol
She literally put herself in the end all the time what are you talking about
I love how supportive they were of one another. It’s cool to see salary transparency
the disabled woman has the coolest gigs and done so much for her career, I can't believe she's not earning any. this is so sad and the fact that she has been doing this for years .. what the heck world
Emily deserves that high fashion paycheck because the look is SO unique!!
everyone is so beautiful and unique, and they all deserve to be paid more. especially emily. as a fellow disabled person, i understand and i hear you
number 1&2 were clear from the beginning 💀
Have to say that I was surprised at how low everyone's yearly pay is! A room full of young models and I expected some crazy numbers, especially for the top 3 or 4! The ones not represented I understand, but multiple renowned agencies and designers and you end up with maybe $100K, which is ~65-70K after taxes!
It honestly just depends on how much you book or the company you’re booking for. But i will say It’s hard to make a lot of money as a model in general, though. the highest paying modeling jobs/opportunities are almost always given to public figures/celebrities for a collaboration. They draw in double the customers so its a marketing tactic that brings in $$$$. And yes they’re modeling for big name brands but their name is not anywhere to be found.

Jaelynn is jealous of gabbi s petite frame
Gabby is petite enough that she wouldn’t get a lot of the high end/high paying modeling contracts. Also having her hair dyed an unnatural color can affect making more money as well.
That is not Jaelynn’s fault.

Emily’s situation is outrageous!!! I am so angry, we need to fix the system
She's not pretty. Just because she's disabled doesn't mean she deserves extra pay.
Do something. Write to your congressman. Start a petition. Donate to charities for disabled people. Complaining and being outraged does nothing to help us.
Omg Gabbi was in the forever 21 video with China Anne McClain!
The disabled woman shocked me, this is extremely unfair, is there a way we can help fight this? So people like Emily can get paid their worth?
u can still work on ssi it’s limited though
The law has to change. The say SSI works is you cant make more than a certain amount or have more than a certain amount to recieve benefits. The issue is its too low and the threshold needs to be higher especially with the way the economy and inflation is. Write your local government and tell them how you feel. And if you can try to donate to causes that help disabled people.
Everyone is stunning and friendly seeming in this video but I'm esp rooting for Monica and Emily to get more gigs! I'm disabled and YEP disabled people are treated TERRIBLY in the US and hugely lack support. Hope this video can raise some awareness around that.
The girl in the sage green dress I just adore her voice its so smooth and I just LOVEEE HER VOICE AHHHHHH!!!
for me the fashion industry is totally futile, but it's amazing to see them showing their work and being proud of that
as a model that just got signed to wilhelmina ny this inspired me so so much. i've been waiting for this video!
I'm in love with Victoria
Edit: what in the American nightmare is up with Emily's situation, are you telling me someone who is born or very early in life disabled is not allowed to make money but also just gets a few bucks (cause thats what 850/month is in this day and age) to live??? This is so shameful, she should be paid big money for the ads she lands and get every dollar because WHY SHOULDN'T SHE
Crazy how models would make less than short form social media influencers.
Emily should ear what she did. She did it with passion and talents, i hate the fact that she has to face this 🥺
Im really glad they brought Emily in. It brings awareness to so many things not only in the modeling industry. Does the US government WANT to bring disabled people down? The whole money thing is insane! Like these laws that she has to get less don't make any sense, it doesn't matter WHEN it happened
Asian men need more exposure and hype for real
I was honestly not expecting all of them to be so low. The highest is even still just above an average wage, I was unaware of how little models were paid.
Victoria has such a sultry voice. 🫢😳💗
Here to voice my idea: ranking artists by streams (number of streams on their songs). Cross genre and everything. Would be sweet!
I was shocked Emily gets $0 and lives off $850 a month WTH
her choice. she can easily get off SSI.
@@douglasquaid2548 oh wow, I guess why isn’t she off of it?
@@U-wabo My said because of helth care and health aid. So probably like her physitherapy, meals coupoms weel chair, nurse home visit, adapted taxis, etc are all paid for and the 850 would be like her allowance.
@@douglasquaid2548 is it tho, she said if she did the job it wouldn't pay for her personal health care
The Asian woman is just so pure and respectful!! Victoria is her name.
