@Oliver Williams why though? the tips are often very generic and dont really give you specific things to watch out for. also the footage normally doesnt neatly fit the commentary, only very loosely.
Oliver Williams all the clips shown in the tips videos are silver and gold players who can’t replicate anything that is said in the video, not that the tips are much more than common sense most of the time

yeah i quit the game for a year and a half because of all the heroes added that counter genji, and i recently came back and started climbing back up again. I still suck, but he's still hella fun to play.

8:11 is exactly when I would have bladed. When you see the lamp go up, plus some poke its only one slash away from dead anyways. Then ana lands a good nade on the front two, would have been really meaty.

Diamond Genji Here~
My top 3 tips for Genji (at least now) are:
1: Plot your Deflects- you want to know EXACTLY what you want to deflect every time you do so
2: Listen for the elimination sound- your dash is the only ability that resets with eliminations, if you get someone down to one, and your team is gunna push that, dash either Passively or Aggressively (back to heals/to another low target) and instantly get it back
3: Use Blade often, but smart- Genji can get blade every 45ish seconds if youre really aggressive. And when you do have it, map out where everyone is, what cooldowns they have, who can back you up, etc.

4. Make sure to take on every first engage with all your abilities off cd. (First engage meaning engages before picks, first reset target, all those things
@@fulkry5841 UNLESS you only have dash on cd, and can secure at least one assist to get it not on cd (personally im really aggro lmao)
@@sethyzir666 hmm idk from my experience when the low target gets even slight healing your usually fucked waiting 6-4 more secs on that dash. it only works when its a straggler thats off position and even then it comes to personal judgement.
This is helpful I get ur play style for me I play very aggressively and make opportunities not wait for them
Why don't you use 'deflect' when you want to kill hanzo, i mean he can kill you in that time right ?
Something as a Genji main I kinda developed as I climbed to diamond, I pace during blades, there will be parts of it where it’s really fast, but some parts it feels like everything slows down for me, like all get three kills immediately, then I pace my swings and dashes from double jump to double jump

I like to think of myself as a relatively good overwatch player. I’ve been playing for four years. I started on PlayStation and two years ago I got a computer. When I got my computer my school started and overwatch league and I was in it. I learned a lotBecause I watched a lot of you and other top 500 players because I want to get better. The first time I placed, I placed bronze because I was still new to playing on computer I knew what to do in game I just didn’t know how to execute it properly on the computer because I couldn’t hit my shots. I’m not good enough to place out of bronze without a team it doesn’t wanna listen to me because I’m bronze and I don’t wanna communicate with me and win because I’m bronze. I feel like after watching this I could carry myself to diamond. I was following you the whole way and in my head I put myself in your position as Genji and was seeing what I could do to make myself better. That’s what I always do. And I saw myself making the same decisions that you ended up making. Not all I did learn a lot from this video. But mechanically with Genji I feel he could be my man because if that’s all there is to him just looking for opportunity and taking it, I could do that. Thank you bro you guys are really help me out a lot

I mean 2nd point its fair to say you took some ult charge away from your team by cleaning up thw enemy team to quickly, but on the other side of the coin they may have gotten out.
My greatest tip for genji, buy a cool skin so you think you look cool, that way you’ll feel more confident, confidence helps skill

9:00 I think you should've dashed normally, then try and kill off the McRee, then you would have your dash back, then dash back to your and wait till it recharges (or get a kill) and then dash, ult and see what you can do, I would focus more on the enemy Zarya and finally just tap out the enemies that are low and try and put in as much damage as you can at the enemy Rinehardt.

good video though, evaluating and pointing out your own mistakes is often even better than just throwing out some tips nobody really knows how to specifically use in their own matches
when you want damage spammed at you but you somehow get paired up with a god tier d.va who eats everything
the thing i noticed is that i really need to practice my dashes because i always end up behind people not in front of them

You will be fine if you go with your team or not going in the middle of the enemy team but if they still focus you stay behind and wait for the right time

Most of these tips are really team reliant, don’t have a co operative team and there’s no point. I’m in high silver here and trust me when I say no one is bothered to communicate much
I mean,you should probably play other hero,genji really needs his team,climbing from silver to gold and plat is really easy if you play something like zarya,lucio,reaper or mei,bc they dont need their team, genji is really different because if his team cant put pressure on the other team he cant too, different from reaper and mei.when you get high gold/plat try playing genji again,he is really viable on these ranks(main zarya/lucio that climbed from 2000 to 2600 in two seasons here).
I do agree with this but whats helped me is just looking for other players, I've found a couple of irl friends as well as a few ive met either in game or through various communities. A good portion of these people I've met are capable players and I've instantly see my win percentage go up with even a 4-5 man que. My friend whos a dps main literally picked up genji (like literally 0 min play time) a few weeks ago and now he's at the point where I can trust his genji and actually give him nano (im a flex so i usually end up in supp) and expect to win most of the teamfights with it. Communication in this game at all ranks is important so definitely try and look for some players that are willing to talk and callout stuff, best of luck :)

Just do a lot or qp i do qp with genji and when i was at 40h of qp i begun to do comp and went from 1600 to 2150sr with 70% winrate and i still climbing
I always check my medals as a doomfist main and then I have my teammates telling me they have silver damage/gold which makes me feel I’m not doing my job even though I’m getting picks and even winning fights for my team... it puts this pressure on me that I’m not doing good enough. What do I do about that?
ByMatt medals don’t matter lmao don’t listen to anyone. They’re such an inaccurate representation of skill. Anyway, as long as you’re winning games you’re doing good.
Is Genji suppose to always be the teams top damage because I just pick people off and I always end up with bronze or silver damage
damage doesnt mean shit. picking of 1 healer and 1 dps each fight worth more than 1000 damage

Okay I used to play Genji (moved to League cause my XBOX Controller broke and can no longer play Overwatch,) most of my dragonblades result in a kill or assist.
I suck at surviving when I practice Genji in quick play.
It feels like there aren’t even healers on your team when you play genji
It's better to just know where the health packs are because you're a flanker. You're not always going to be around your healer because they can't pocket you all the time. Know when to engage and if you take too much damage, back off, find a health pack and re-engage

If you are a fast genji you want that high sense,if you're not then try ti make plays in your time,aiming with calm and with a slow sense,you decide what you want!(btw he has a low sense,so thats why he doesn't make that huge fast plays,but still really good)

Using blade mid fight is really powerful because everyone is getting damage and you have a higher value to dash and slash on the enemy. Also not gonna be primary targeted from the enemy. I did it multiple of times and got great value out of it.
even low rank players use abilities if they are getting pushed. I dont think it has to do smth with the rank, lol

I used to play Genji alot (originally as a meme) when I played OW constantly. I used to be good, least in my eyes. I just started playing OW again and Im going through the slog that is relearning characters.

If youre watching a video on how to play genji, theres a good chance that you dont have the mechanics to pull a crazy fast necros style blade, playing to your abilites may not be the same as playing to the characters potential, but yea, if your that good, then a fast blade is better than a slow one

Literally the worst genji gameplay I’ve ever seen ngl
This guide is not applicable in game until high master/GM. And tbh I dont trust the rank he put in the video. And his team is allowing all his plays. If you're very good mechanically and at a lower rank. this guide just wont work. From what I've seen in this replay. I usually have more consistent and faster mechanical skill. (At least in this replay, idk if I'm better overall).
Let me give you more example of my own experience. I'm playing in diam rn and if I play like this (because this is one of the 3 or 4 gameplay I tried), this wont work. In a general manner, I play against smurfs or players with better overall skill than my team mates. So, if I play passive until my team give me an opportunity to make a play, in plat or diam, it is never gonna happen just because the enemy mean skill level is higher than my team. Then I have to initiate every fight and place my team in a situation they will not die 5v3 (what happens a lot in my games, I go in, I kill 3, my team let me die and then they die 5v3).
If you play patiently (like spam from behind your tanks) at this rank, ppl just get mad at you because you dont instantly kill everyone. And at this point your team wont even try to win or sabotage the game. I've seen ppl taking ball and stop in front of the enemy team to feed during 6 mins just because of it.
Honestly, this guide didnt help me at all. And I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit surprised considering your mechanical skill on this game that you play in GM/top 500 games. Probably not your best game, you probably picked it for educationnal purpose but ye, not really convinced.
Anyway, gl hf guys.
