    No one brave enough to say it’s a “wheelie bike” from Kirby?

      I'm sorry, you can't.
      I had a chat via email with Chris when I was financially ready to drop the cash, but found there was no order page on the Ryno website. It turns out that the only place he was allowed to even have parts MADE for it was China, and it took NO time at all for there to be cheap knock-off monowheel cycles, and on top of that, just as he was getting ready to launch, the 'hoverboard' craze kicked off. Between the two factors, the Ryno was cut off at the wheel, so to speak.
      He hopes someday that someone will decide to really put the time and finances to make the Ryno a reality once again, and he stands ready to both license the design, and assist as much as desired to make it happen, but he had to abandon the project after the events above pulled the rug out from under him.

    meh... Looks good, but 10 mph is too slow... And at $5,000+ too expensive...
    You are in the wrong niche.
    The 10-20 mph niche has devices like solowheel, airwheel, rockwheel, etc, which I can pick up for $700, and which have a range of upwards of 40 miles (some of them). These devices are also easier to store.
    Love the look of your device, and the concept. You just need to bump it up to the next niche. ie, get it up to 30 - 40 mph (keep it under 50 cc so that it remains sidewalk legal) then you would have something worth paying the higher price for, and dealing with the hassle of the large size.
    If all it will do is get me 10 miles, (and take me an hour to get there) ie last mile device, then I will stick with the smaller lighter, far less expensive options. But bump it up a niche, and I would likely buy.

    My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.

    Overly complicated, heavy and bulky. You can get a solo wheel for much cheaper. It's portable, goes about the same speed. Only way this would be better is if you can at least go at traffic speed and be in traffic and have much longer range. But for the sidewalks, I'd take my solo wheel over this anyway. I don't get this invention.

    • @GeorgeBonez
      @GeorgeBonez 9 років тому

      Charles Le Well Ive had a Solo wheel for over a week and its not all that its cracked-up to be either.. All this "Its as easy as riding a bike' is BULLSHIT!
      The inside of my legs are hurting me so bad from trying to learn this fucking thing that I am about to toss it in the trash-can..
      But I do agree with you on one thing! This stupid one-wheel motorcycle thing is ridicules and serves no practical purpose!

    • @CharlesLe-thephotographer
      @CharlesLe-thephotographer 9 років тому

      GeorgeBonez I completely understand the way you feel. It took me a few weeks practice until I became okay with the solowheel. It was painful on my shins and leg muscles and I was a sweaty mess after each attempt. I couldn't imagine how anyone can use this for transportation. I was more tired after riding this for two minutes than I was after one hour on the threadmill. It wasn't until a couple of months of using it that I began to enjoy my rides but I kept it up and after I learned to relax my leg muscles it became effortless. The whole experience reminded me of when I learned to snowboard. I've been riding the solowheel for close to four years now and ride it wearing slacks and dress shirts as well as shorts and t-shirts. I ride it while holding a drink with one hand and carrying a conversation with the phone in my other hand, and I can do this while on the sidewalk in downtown San Jose with people on the sidewalk besides me. I weave in and out like a breeze. I can go at walking speed and then suddenly take off at the speed of a fast jog. I can do this on flat ground, downhill, and uphill. I stop and turn on a dime. It's one of the most enjoyable things I own. I wish I can go twice as fast. I assure you that if you keep it up you will get better and one day will not want to give it up!

    • @GeorgeBonez
      @GeorgeBonez 9 років тому

      Charles Le Well I will admit that I do feel a since of hopelessness but I am not going to give up just yet, mainly because the thing cost so much and I could never sell it in order to get my money back. The way I see it is that I have to learn to ride in order to get my moneys worth.
      I knew before I bought this thing that it wasn't going to be easy but I had no idea that it was going to be this hard.
      I have a good sense of balance forward &* backwards using the training wheels but I cannot seem to grasp the start-off step-up without the training wheels!!! It looks to me like you have to make an aggressive but smooth step-up onto the machine with your left foot (in my case) then simply lean forward. I cant even come close because when I go to step up my foot lands in the wrong place (to far forward too far back) and I cant adjust it without falling off.
      I wish somebody would make a good instructional vid on the Take-off part.. I have found a couple of vids on (How to start-off or Step-up on a Solowheel) but they don't explain the little pieces or details. Most vids don't even show the rider start-off. They just show you riders breezing through parks, trails and even snow..
      Im sorry to sound so negative. I am just frustrated right now.. I'll get-it one of these days maybe? :)

    • @GeorgeBonez
      @GeorgeBonez 9 років тому

      Charles Le Ok Ill admit that you inspired me tonight. Its pitch-black dark outside right now but I just took my Solowheel outside and had my longest ride ever! haha Yes still using the training wheels but the thing that I learned tonight is that my machine has the power to go up-hill.. This has been a big concern of mine because I tried to go up my 18 degree incline (driveway) the other day and it seemed that my machine didn't have enough power.. Now I have learned that it was me not leaning forward enough to GO.
      It is a very un-natural feeling to lean forward because you feel like you are going to fall on your face. Its like you have to give this un-natural trust to your solowheel to not let you down.. I don't trust easy but I did it tonight and I now have a new faith in my machine.. WOW! this little sucker is powerful as hell!

    • @CharlesLe-thephotographer
      @CharlesLe-thephotographer 9 років тому

      GeorgeBonez Hey, I'm glad to hear you have some success with it. I'll try to remember to make a little takeoff video this weekend and post it on my channel. Subscribe or check back to see it. The secret is not really in the leg that steps up, but in the leg that's already on the foot rest. What I mean is that I can actually get going with just my left feet, by pressing my left calf against the pad. I can go for short distance with just one feet on the Solowheel. But I admit, this is an advanced maneuver. I'll demonstrate in the video both ways. As for it's power, 18 degree incline is nothing for this machine. I can go up the steepest hill in San Francisco with ease. It has a 1000 watt motor, and I believe it can go much faster than it does. Inventist limits the speed for safety reasons I suspect. I assume you have the original, and not the cheap Chinese knockoffs right? I purchased two of them for $900 when they were in the Kickstarter stage.
      It's funny you mention the training wheels. I also have those but I didn't learn on them. I purchased them after the fact to help other people learn. Personally, I don't like the training wheels because I feel it makes the Solowheel move too clumsily, but I suppose it's good for helping those that would otherwise not dare to attempt to get on. I learned the hard way, with just the belt around the handle, and by falling about 100 times before I managed to go 10 feet with it!
